A/N: Hey guys! Thank you very much for the reviews on the last story :) So, this is Greg's revenge for the prank Nick and Warrick played on him in the previous story 'Hazing' mywarisalreadywon suggested a while ago that I do a Halloween story, so I came up with a supernatural revenge.
Summary – Greg takes revenge on Nick and Warrick with a supernatural themed prank…Happy Halloween!
Halloween Revenge
"Well, tonight was one hell of a weird night" Nick said as he pulled on his jacket. He and Warrick were in the locker room getting ready to head home after the Halloween shift.
"If that was your idea of a joke, then you're getting old, man" Warrick teased "But yeah, we get a dead guy dressed as a vampire killed by someone dressed as a werewolf, this is definitely the most interesting night of the year to be working grave shift"
Nick nodded in agreement "Wanna come over to my place for pizza? I got beers and some scary movies"
"Sure, why not" Warrick agreed, and the pair left the room.
They bumped into a very bouncy Greg Sanders on his way to the break room; the younger man had his usual broad grin and spring in his step. Greg loved Halloween ever since he was a kid; it was one of his favourite holidays.
"Hey, guys!" the trainee CSI said brightly.
"Hey, Greggo, we were just heading to my place to watch some movies, wanna come with?" Nick asked.
"Erm…sorry, I'm going to a party with some out of work friends actually, rain check though?"
"Sure, rain check" Nick smiled and then he and Warrick continued from the building.
Greg watched them go, before grinning excitedly and rubbing his hands together in a mischievous way. This was just what he'd been hoping for. He turned and jogged down the hall, skidding to a halt outside the evidence room where Sara was just packing away.
"Hey, Sara, wanna have some fun?" Greg smirked as he raised an eyebrow.
"Mmm, what kinda fun?" Sara said placing a hand on her hip.
Greg rolled his eyes "Not that kind of fun…okay maybe that kinda fun later…just come with me, I'll explain everything…"
Nick and Warrick had been sat drinking beers and watching classic horror movies for about two hours, when they heard a light scratching noise coming from the front window.
"It's probably just the neighbour's cat" Nick said dismissively, and they ignored the sound.
But then it only got worse, as the scratching turned into an ear-piercing screech, like nails on a chalkboard.
"God damn" Warrick complained as he placed his hands over his ears.
Nick got up and drew back the curtains to take a look, only to be met with a surprisingly sight. Written across his window was the message: 1 hour. It was written in red, in a substance suspiciously like blood as it trickled down the frame.
"Damn kids just messing about" Warrick mumbled, bringing Nick out of his thoughts.
The Texan turned around and looked at his clock "It's midnight in an hour" he said distantly.
Warrick scoffed "C'mon man, that's fairy-tale stuff"
"Yeah….yeah you're right" Nick said closing the curtain again, and sulking about the fact he'd have to clean it off in the morning.
The CSIs went back to drinking and talking, when almost half an hour later, the moaning creek of the floorboards above them caused both Nick and Warrick to look up at the ceiling cautiously.
"Does your house normally make weird noises?" Warrick asked.
Nick shook his head. "I'm gonna go check it out….you coming with me?"
Warrick smirked "Scared are ya?"
"Can you blame me? Last time there was a freakin' psychopath living in my attic, man!" Nick argued.
"Good point" Warrick conceded, and putting his beer down, he followed his friend out the room and up the stairs.
The noise appeared to be coming from Nick's room, and the door kept swinging open and closed due to the wind, making a loud banging noise. Nick cautiously placed his hand on the door and pushed it open. He couldn't help the gasp of horror which elicited his lips, and he unwittingly grabbed onto Warrick's arm.
Warrick pushed passed him and surveyed the scene, his eyes growing wide. There appeared to be blood all over the bed sheets, as well as some dead kind of animal ripped to pieces; it looked like it had been maimed by some ravenous dog.
"I think it's a rabbit" Warrick said, edging forward. "Man, it looks like someone committed some crazy voodoo sacrifice in here." He shivered at the thought.
"I-It's not real is it?" Nick asked nervously.
"I don't think so" Warrick said approaching the bed with a face of disgust "But one of its feet are missing…rabbit foots are supposed to be lucky, right?"
"I don't really care about that now!" Nick exclaimed, waving his hands around "My house looks like it's been invaded by some weird cult!"
All of a sudden, something flew in through the open window, and Warrick jumped when whatever it was landed at his feet.
"What the hell is that?" he breathed and bent down to pick it up.
"Be careful" Nick warned him.
"Oh my God" Warrick grimaced "I think…I think it's an eyeball"
Nick's jaw dropped "You're kidding me?"
Warrick prodded it gently with is finger and quickly pulled back in disgust "Urgh, it's slimy!"
"It's real!?" Nick said incredulously.
"Nah….it can't be" Warrick replied, although it sounded like he was trying hard to convince himself. "Maybe we should call Greg, he's a psychic or something, right?" he asked with a smirk, trying to lighten the tense mood.
Suddenly, another door banged form down the hall, and the two CSIs ran out.
"I think it came from the bathroom" Nick said, and didn't even take caution this time before barging the door open.
Just as on the window downstairs, a message had been left on the mirror in the same sticky red substance: 10 minutes.
"There's a note" Warrick pointed to the piece of paper in the sink.
Nick took it and ripped it open and read aloud:
"In this house fifty years ago, a man and woman prepared for their wedding day. The bride was getting prepared in the bedroom when she heard a noise coming from the closet. She went to investigate, only to be attacked by a strange man. She was found just an hour before the wedding, knife in her heart…and her eyes gauged out"
Warrick gulped "Man, this is too weird for me" Nick nodded but then continued reading.
"The groom meanwhile had been waiting at the church, with the new pet rabbit he had bought for his future wife. He knew the foot of a rabbit was supposed to bring luck, and hoped the gift would symbolise just how lucky he felt to have his wife. However, he too was attacked by the same mysterious figure, again, with a knife in his heart, and the shredded remains of the rabbit."
"Rumour suggests that it was a jealous ex of the bride who committed these crimes. Eyes are the windows to the soul after all, and that's probably why he took hers, to make her his forever. Now, every ten years, the couple return to this very house, hoping to take revenge on the one who tried to tear them apart"
"This is insane, man" Warrick said shaking his head "Absolutely nuts!"
"No one told me anyone was murdered in this house when I bought it!" Nick exclaimed.
"Look, there's a bit more" Warrick said taking the note "Look out into the back yard at midnight" he read.
"Man, I don't like this one bit" Nick said anxiously.
"Me either" Warrick said biting his lip nervously "Someone's gotta be messing around with us…but this is really elaborate if they are…"
"We should go to the window" Nick said looking at his watch, his own curiosity getting the better of him. "I wanna get to the bottom of this"
The pair headed down the stairs and into the kitchen so they could look out through the French doors. It was pitch black outside, when all of a sudden a dark orange ominous glow started radiating from the bottom of the garden. The light caught the outlines of two mysterious figures, slowly walking towards the house.
"Is it just me…or is the one on the right wearing a wedding dress?" Warrick asked nervously.
"It's the corpse bride" Nick breathed.
The couple were holding hands, and getting closer and closer towards the house. As they did so, Nick and Warrick backed further away, too shocked and confused to even say anything anymore. Their eyes were wide and their breathing a little trembled, as the left figure, a man, reached forward and started to tap on the door. It was slow and monotonous.
"C'mon, let us in" the woman begged.
"Yes, we have a surprise for you" the man added.
"Hell no!" Warrick exclaimed and ran from the room, Nick following him.
They heard the door being pulled back as the pair entered the house, and walked through to find the two CSIs scrabbling around looking for some kind of weapon. The bride reached over and flicked on the light switch, and the scene froze.
"Surprise" the groom grinned.
Nick and Warrick went even more wide eyed as they stared in disbelief at the two people before them. Greg Sanders and Sara Sidle stood laughing their heads off, wearing some elaborate costumes and makeup which appeared to make them ghost like.
"You…you did all this!?" Warrick breathed.
"Yep" Greg said with a proud grin.
"What…why…" Nick stuttered.
"Remember when I first started working at the lab and you guys put the head in my locker?" Greg reminded them "Well, I said I would get revenge, and it would be sweet, but you wouldn't know when, and where? Well that was just it baby!" he grinned.
"Five years!" Warrick said incredulously "Five years you waited to do this to us!?"
"I had a lot of planning to do" Greg shrugged, and then smirked "And it got the best effect, all thanks to my lovely assistant" he said raising Sara's hand and kissing it.
"Sara! How could you of all people agree to this?" Nick asked, still in shock.
"Well you guys think I'm so boring, I just wanted to prove you wrong" Sara replied simply "Besides, it was so fun!"
"And I needed her here as a witness in case you guys tried to beat the shit out of me" Greg added.
"You're lucky I haven't already" Nick growled. He'd only just got his focus back after trying to comprehend everything "You wrecked my house!"
"Relax, everything was fake" Greg reassured him "Paint…rabbit was a dummy…eyeball was something I found at a joke shop"
"Ya know as CSIs we thought you'd at least figure out the blood wasn't real" Sara teased.
Warrick smirked "It was a good one Greggo, I'll give you that. You worked hard for this one"
Greg smiled and gave a slight bow "Thank you" Nick was still stood with his arms folded and a slight pout. Greg smiled "Aww c'mon Nicky, don't sulk, an eye for an eye!" he teased, then realised this wasn't helping his case. "I'll clean it up myself, I promise"
Nick sighed and rolled his eyes "Fine, you got me good, okay, but if you try anything like this again, I will not be held responsible for my actions"
"Message received" Greg said with a nod. He linked arms with Sara "Now if you'll excuse us, we're off to get married" he grinned.
Sara scoffed and pulled her arm back "Nice try, I'm getting out of this thing"
"Are you sure? We could stop by Grissom's, might get an idea into his mind seeing you like that" Greg teased, and Nick and Warrick laughed when Sara hit him playfully around the back of the head.
The four friends laughed together and Nick supposed that in the end that's what it was all about, laughing together like the family that they were.
I'm honestly not sure where the idea for this came from, just a bunch of horror stories I've heard before I guess XD Anyway, I hope you enjoyed. I have another Halloween story prompt which I will post tomorrow night, so I'll see you then!
Other prompts would be great!
Please Review :) xx
