The elevator door squeaked open, revealing Ulrich and Yumi holding onto William's sides. William had supported to the elevator after Jim passed out, curious about why there hadn't been a return to the past yet.
"We're ready when you are, Jeremy." William said, referring to returning to the past.
Aelita and Odd stood next to Jeremy as he turned to face the elevator. "We have a slight problem." He said, pushing his glasses back up from where they had fallen. "The program that runs the returns is corrupt, probably beyond repair."
William tried to help Ulrich and Yumi over to the wall, but Ulrich walked ahead of them, working hard to hold himself up.
"What do you mean beyond repair?" Ulrich asked, now holding himself up by the arm rest of Jeremy's chair.
Jeremy sighed, looking in the general direction of the group. "It means... It means we can't go back. If something devastating happens, if X.A.N.A. destroys something, we can't just fix it."
The room was in awe, finally joining Jeremy in the realization of just how bad this was.
"You can fix it, right? Just erase the corrupt stuff?" Odd asked.
"I wish it were that simple. The code used for the return to the past program was already extremely complex, some parts I still don't understand. The file being corrupted makes it where certain parts of the code don't work, so what I have to do is eliminate the corruption, which is a mission on its own. Then I would have to re-create the program, something so complicated that it would take months, years for me to finally understand." Jeremy said, rotating his chair to face the monitor. "Stuff like the vehicles, virtualization, the superscan, I can fix because I understand how they were coded, I know how they work. Time travel is an amazing technology, one that, at the moment, Franz Hopper is the only person to actually understand enough to make it work."
Yumi slowly stood up, her legs shaking under her weight due lack of strength. "What does this mean? Jim is still out there knocked out, the bridge is destroyed and Ulrich and I have some pretty serious wounds."
"I don't know." Jeremy said, turning to face her. "It would take a miracle to fix this."
Suddenly, the computer made a loud *bing* sound, causing Jeremy to turn around and investigate.
"What's this?" Jeremy said as he opened the email he had just been sent.
Jeremy sat in awe from what he was reading, struck with disbelief.
"What is it Jeremy?" Aelita asked, walking up to him.
"This is incredible!" Jeremy said, scrolling through the large message. "It's full of files, clean versions of everything that got corrupted. It even has a complete file for the Skid!"
"Who sent it?" Aelita asked as she looked over the monitor.
"It was sent from an address using the name 'Carthage'." Jeremy said, causing lights to flash over the heads of everyone in the room.
"Carthage? Like the same guy who saved Odd?" Ulrich asked.
"Yes, it's the same address." Jeremy said, scrolling to the bottom of the message. "There's something interesting here. It gives a location on Lyoko."
"It's my father telling us where to find him." Aelita said, reading over the message.
William stepped forward slightly. "We can't just assume that. Maybe it's X.A.N.A. trying to trick us into a trap."
"Yeah, we have to be carful." Ulrich said.
Jeremy typed for a second, then looked perplexed at his screen. "That's strange. The location is somewhere outside Lyoko."
"A replica?" Aelita asked.
"I don't know, nothing appears on my screen at that location." He answered, searching the surrounding area for anything nearby.
"Sounds like a job for the fantastic Lyoko Warriors!" Odd exclaimed, amped for adventure.
The room giggled at Odd's enthusiasm, all of them cracking smiles.
"Well, I'll just send us back, load up the Skid and we'll be off." Jeremy said, typing in the code to execute the return to the past.
"I still think it's a trap." Ulrich said, finishing his sentence just as a white bubble enveloped him and everything else.
Sorry for this being short, I had a longer version but it just dragged out the last scene so slowly that I got bored re-reading it. My next few episodes will probably be longer and may come out sooner due to me having some extra time on my hands. Stay tuned for next episode, it will be pretty important.
