Summary – With romance failing for Greg and Morgan in Vegas, Catherine invites them out to stay with her, can she ignite the spark? Morganders!
Vacation
Morgan sighed as she plonked down on her couch. She had just returned home after speaking to Greg in the locker room about his friend Alison. Well, Morgan got the impression that Alison was more than a friend, and when Morgan had told Greg the best was yet to come, she hoped that Greg would take the hint. Morgan wanted to be Greg's best to come, but she wanted it to come pretty soon. However now, after the loss of Alison, Morgan feared they weren't going to get that chance.
The blonde needed someone to talk to, someone who hadn't been involved in the events and could give an unbiased opinion. The first person Morgan thought of was her mom, but she didn't know Greg…and then suddenly, the CSI knew exactly who to call. Picking up her phone Morgan called the number and waited for the woman she needed to answer.
"Hello?" the familiar voice responded. Morgan smiled; she'd missed that motherly tone.
"Hey, Catherine"
"Oh, hey Morgan!" The former CSI responded happily.
"I was hoping I could talk to you about something, if you're not busy?" Morgan inquired.
"I've always got time to talk to you guys" Catherine said with a smile "fire away!"
And with that, Morgan sat talking to Catherine about all the problems she was having in telling Greg how she felt. The older woman listened to every word carefully, and gave out some great advice. Morgan really respected Catherine, and was sad to see her go, but she loved that the older woman was still willing to be there for her.
"I think I know exactly what you need" Catherine said eventually "You need a break, come out and stay with me for the weekend"
"Really!? That would be great" Morgan said excitedly "Are you sure? I don't want to be any trouble"
"No, not at all, I'd love to see you again" Catherine insisted "Lindsey's home too so we can have some girl time, it'll be fun!"
"Alright" Morgan replied, and they went on to make plans.
This could be just what Morgan needed.
Greg was trying to get to sleep, but he couldn't get Alison's dead body out of his mind, and still felt her death was somewhat his fault. He thought about what Morgan said to him in the locker room and what she could have meant. Greg knew what he hoped she meant - that Morgan wanted to be with him in the end - but Greg didn't want to humiliate himself by jumping to conclusions.
Greg's phone started ringing, and he answered with a groan "Hello?" he croaked.
"Pack a bag, you're going on vacation!" an excited voice responded.
Greg rubbed his eyes wearily "Catherine? What are you talking about?"
"I heard about what happened and I decided you need a break, so you're coming to stay with me this weekend" Catherine insisted.
"But…"
"No buts, you're coming!" Catherine interrupted, and that was that. She gave Greg some details and then hung up before the younger man could even begin to protest.
Greg was left speechless. He supposed getting away for a bit would do him some good though.
Friday evening, Morgan arrived outside of Catherine's home in Virginia. She knocked on the door, and it was answered by a beautiful young woman.
"Hey! You must be Morgan" Lindsey Willows said chirpily and surprised Morgan by pulling her into a hug.
"Yeah, you must be Lindsey" Morgan said with a smile as they pulled away "It's so nice to meet you"
"You too" Lindsey smiled "Come in!" she took Morgan's hand and practically dragged her into the house.
"Morgan!" Catherine said happily as she entered the living room and hugged the younger woman "it's so good to see you"
"Yeah, I've missed you" Morgan said honestly.
"Well, welcome to our humble abode" Catherine said with a smile "Don't bother unpacking just yet, Linds go open that bottle of wine" she instructed.
The three women sat on the sofas in the living room and caught up with each other. Morgan couldn't help but notice just how much Lindsey was like her mother, with her intellect and passion.
"So, what's going on with you and Uncle Greg?" Lindsey asked Morgan after a while.
Morgan sighed "Not a lot. I mean I want to be with him, but now after this whole thing with his ex…I don't think he's going to be ready for a long time"
"But you can't know for sure that's what Greg's thinking" Catherine pointed out. "I've known the guy years and when his heart tells him to do something, he does it"
"Well then why hasn't he asked me out yet?" Morgan asked sadly "Maybe he just doesn't feel the same way"
"Of course he does!" Catherine grinned "Morgan, when he first met you he could barely string a sentence together, he was star struck over you" Morgan smiled, thinking about how cute Greg was.
"Maybe it's up to you to make the first move" Lindsey suggested "I think guys kind of like when a woman can take charge"
"You think so?" Morgan asked, Lindsey and Catherine nodded "but what if it doesn't work out? I don't wanna lose him as a friend…"
"That was my worry when I dated Vartann" Catherine told her "But now, we still talk a lot and we get on great. You and Greg mean too much to each other to let yourselves walk out of each other's lives"
Morgan pondered this for a moment "Yeah…" she said with a small smile "Yeah, you're right"
"She always is" Lindsey mumbled, and Catherine playfully tapped her daughter's arm.
"Come on, I'll show you to your room" Catherine said as it was getting late "You've got a busy day ahead of you tomorrow"
"Oh, you have something planned?" Morgan asked curiously.
Catherine smirked "You'll see…"
The next morning, and Catherine had made them all breakfast. Morgan was sat at the table having coffee when there was a knock at the door. Lindsey got up to answer it.
"Uncle Greg!" Lindsey squealed as she opened the door to the familiar face. She hadn't seen the man in years.
"Hey, Linds!" Greg grinned as she practically jumped on him for a hug "My God, you're all grown up"
"Oh, don't start that" Lindsey said patting his chest "Come through to the kitchen; we have a surprise for you"
Greg was shocked to enter the room and see Morgan sat at the table. The female CSI looked equally surprised.
"Greg, hey!" Catherine said giving the younger man a hug, although he still didn't take his eyes off Morgan. "Glad you made it."
"Um…hey" Greg said, regaining some of his focus. "Hey, Morgan"
"Hi" Morgan replied, getting up to give him a hug too. She didn't want things to appear awkward.
"Cath, what's going on?" Greg asked.
"Okay, bringing you guys here may have been a bit of a ruse" Catherine admitted sheepishly. "I just thought that you guys spending some time together away from Vegas would take the pressure off. There's no work to get in the way, no people you know to put doubt in your minds. Just the two of you spending some much needed time together."
Greg and Morgan shared a look. Maybe this was the push they had been waiting for, the little release that they needed, and who knew; maybe it could really be something when they headed back to Vegas.
"I'm willing to give it a try if you are" Morgan said with a small smile.
"Yeah" Greg replied with his own smile "Yeah, let's do it"
"Great, because I already booked a meal at this lovely restaurant tonight for just the two of you" Catherine grinned.
"C'mon Morgan, I'll help you find something to wear!" Lindsey said excitedly and dragged the older woman from the room.
"Thanks, Cath" Greg said with a small smile once they were alone "I've known ever since I laid eyes on Morgan she's the one I wanted to be with…thanks for trying to make it happen"
"Don't mention it" Catherine smiled as she placed a hand on the younger man's arm "You deserve happiness, Greg, you're the sweetest guy I've ever met, and I'm proud of you. I can't believe you're all grown up now!" she teased, pinching his cheek.
Greg laughed and batted her hand away "I know I can hardly believe it myself sometimes…I just hope tonight goes well…"
Catherine was sat reading in her bedroom later that night, when she heard someone sneaking around downstairs; the light footsteps making the floorboards creak every now and again. Lindsey came tiptoeing into her room looking a little anxious.
"Mom, did you hear that?" she whispered. "Greg and Morgan should have been back ages ago…what if it's someone else?"
Catherine sighed and put her book down, giving her daughter a little smirk "It's okay, honey, I'll go check"
The mother cautiously edged her way down the stairs, Lindsey following her a little nervously, but she also had her mother's curiosity and fight; she was ready to take down some robbers.
They entered the lounge, and Catherine flicked on the light switch. What they were met with made the mother and Lindsey's jaws drop with gasps of disbelief, but then Lindsey just started giggling as Catherine stood with her hands on her hips.
There, on the sofa, was Greg, pinning Morgan down and kissing her neck hungrily as the blond was unbuttoning his shirt. As soon as the light turned on, the pair looked up the two Willows with great shock and embarrassment. Greg quickly jumped off Morgan fumbling to button up his shirt a he did so, and Morgan stood up straightening out her hair. They both gave sheepish smiles.
"I take it tonight went well then?" Catherine asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Erm…yeah" Morgan said, clearing her throat "Thanks…thanks for sorting it out for us, Cath"
Lindsey finally stopped laughing "Oh, c'mon mom, I used to get grounded for weeks for sneaking home late with a boy!"
"You were only sixteen at the time" Catherine said sternly and Lindsey pouted "As for you two..." she turned to Greg and Morgan "I'm glad things have worked out for you, but just keep it clean in my house, okay?" she smirked.
"Erm…yeah, sorry, Cath" Greg said rubbing the back of his neck, still feeling embarrassed and awkward.
"It's okay, c'mon Linds" Catherine said ushering her daughter from the room "let's leave the lovebirds alone"
As soon as they were gone, Morgan and Greg turned to each other biting their lips with embarrassment and blushing, but then they both started laughing.
"We should just be grateful it wasn't my dad who walked in on us" Morgan pointed out.
"Very true" Greg said, shuddering at the thought. He placed an arm around Morgan's waist and he pulled her close as she smiled "So, what do think? We can continue this when we get back to Vegas?"
"On vacation or back home, I'll be yours, baby. I want to be yours wherever for a very long time" Morgan said with a soft smile.
Greg grinned "I want that too" he whispered. "Now I'm gunna kiss you again…but we have to be quiet" he whispered mischievously, and Morgan giggled as he pushed their lips together.
Hehe, I really liked writing this. As much as I love Finn on the show, I still miss Catherine :( I also liked writing Lindsey in there too. Hope you liked it!
I would love some more prompts, you guys come up with some amazing stuff!
