A/N: Alright letting you all know. I did make a few changes in this chapter from the show. I change the partners around. What I did because I wanted to change things up a bit and to avoid a week long monolog argument with myself. I just stuck all the names a bag and picked the names out. Hope you enjoy!
Chapter 10: Ballad
(Choir Room)
"Ballad," Mr. Schue said writing this week's lesson n the Board. "Came from the root word 'Ballade.' Known in the Renaissance Period as the free soul and music for artists, writers, and musicians. Can anyone tell me, what a ballad is?" Mr. Schue asked addressing the New Directions. "Yes, Kurt?"
"A ballad is a love song," Kurt answered.
"Sometimes, but not always. However, you are correct Kurt. Some of the most powerful ballads are about love, but not all ballads are about love. See a ballad is a story, told in the form of a song or music. Expressing the emotions you so deeply want to get out, but can't seem to find the words you want to express," Mr. Schue explained. "This year, a new rule was added. We need to perform a Ballad."
"Looks like my weekly letters to the Show Choir Committee had finally paid off," Rachel said excitedly, causing everyone to roll their eyes at her.
"Okay, so your assignment for this week. I'm going to separate you guys and you're going to be working in pairs. And I want you to pick a ballad to sing to you partner. Look them right in the eye, find the emotion you want to express, and make them feel it," Mr. Schue said.
"I pick Quinn," Finn automatically said.
"Oh, no. No, no, no, too easy. Your partner will be chosen by fate," Mr. Schue said walking over to the piano. "I put all of your names in this hat. Whoever, you choose is your partner."
"But Matt's out sick though," Santana said knowing everything that goes on in this school. "He had to be taken to the hospital due to an allergic reaction to a spider bite."
"Um, okay. I guess I have to put my name in the hat for now," Mr. Shcue said uncertainty. "Who's up first?"
Puck walked up to the hat. As everyone did their own drumroll, he pull out, "Britney." Santana didn't look too happy about not working with her girl Britney. But Britney and the others clapped though.
"Alright, who's next?"
Santana skips up to the hat and pulls out, "Mike." Santana sounded a little disappointed but oh well. She probably could pull this off.
Finn walks up to the hat and pulls out, "Rachel."
"Mr. Schue, I'm not too comfortable with this arrangement of partners," Quinn said. She and everyone else fully knew, how much Rachel was crushing on her man and would just use this week's assignment. As an opportunity to try to steal Finn from her. "Couldn't, Finn pick another partner from the hat or could he quite possibly swap partners with someone who had already picked?"
"The Fates have spoken Quinn," Mr. Schue said. "Sorry, but no swapping partners. The assignment is for all of you, to work with someone you haven't worked with before. Or quite possibly find something out about someone you already know. Who's up next?"
Artie rolls up and pulls out, "Tina!" Perfect now he can do his Glee Assignment, apologize to Tina and find a way to win her over. All at the same time! This was perfect!
Mercedes came up to the hat smiling, hoping to get her boy, Kurt. She could think of at least five great duets for them to do together, blowing the Glee Club away. Instead, she gets, "David." Alright, a good Baritone voice and her Alto voice. Definitely could do a good duet or both of them sing different songs about friendships to one another.
Quinn comes up to the hat not overly thrilled about her choices. Kurt wasn't that bad but he wasn't Finn. At least Cassidy wasn't that bad of a choice for a partner if Quinn gets her. And oh good Lord, her singing with a teacher?! Quinn reaches in to the hat and pulls out, "Kurt." Quinn sighs in relief. Well, she won't have to worry about him hitting on her or anything. Hhhhmmmm, this could be a good thing then. Kurt knows music and could easily coordinate costumes really well.
"Looks like I get you, Mr. Schue," Cassidy said walking over to the piano.
"Um, you know what? Maybe would should wait for Matt to get back?" Mr. Schue asked nervously.
"The Fates have spoken Mr. Schue," Quinn said with a smug smile. Completely ignoring the evil eye she was receiving from Mr. Schue.
"Would you mind clarifying what kind of songs you want us to sing?" Artie asked.
"Well, Rachel. You're our so called "expert." What's a good song to sing?" Cassidy said.
"Well, Endless Love is always a good ballad to sing?" Rachel offered.
"Um, Rachel. I don't think that's an appropriate song . . ." Mr. Schue started.
"NEXT!" Cassidy nearly shouted.
"Well, how about I Wish I Had An Angel by Nightwish?" Mercedes suggested.
"That might work," Mr. Schue said nodding approvingly.
"Yeah, I love that song and it's one of my favorite bands," Cassidy said happy to have something other than a love song to sing. Yikes, talk about a disaster waiting to happen.
Cassidy and Mr. Schue
I wish I had an angel
For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel tonight
Cassidy
Deep into a dying day
I took a step outside an innocent heart
Prepare to hate me fall when I may
This night will hurt you like never before
Old loves they die hard
Old lies they die harder
Mr. Shcue
I wish I had an angel
For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel
Your Virgin Mary undone
I'm in love with my lust
Burning angel wings to dust
I wish I had your angel tonight
Cassidy
I'm going down so frail 'n cruel
Drunken disguise changes all the rules
Old loves they die hard
Old lies they die harder
Mr. Shcue
I wish I had an angel
For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel
Your Virgin Mary undone
Cassidy and Mr. Schue
I'm in love with my lust
Burning angel wings to dust
I wish I had your angel tonight
Mr. Shcue
Greatest thrill
Not to kill
But to have the prize of the night
Hypocrite
Wannabe friend
13th disciple who betrayed me for nothing!
Cassidy
Last dance, first kiss
Your touch my bliss
Beauty always comes with dark thoughts
Mr. Shcue
I wish I had an angel
For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel
Your Virgin Mary undone
Cassidy
I'm in love with my lust
Burning angel wings to dust
I wish I had your angel tonight
I wish I had an angel . . .
I wish I had an angel . . .
I wish I had an angel . . .
I wish I had an angel . . .
"Um, yeah something like that," Mr. Schue said a little out of breath. He was trying to keep up with Cassidy when she really got in to the song.
(Quinn's House)
Quinn was very distant and quiet when she got home. She didn't know how to tell her parents that she quit the Cheerios, but luckily they bought the excuse of someone trying to sabotage her to be Captain and would continue to do so until she was kicked off the Squad. Well, come to think about it that was really happening. The reason why Quinn out of it today was because today was dress fitting day for the Chasity Ball. And up until now, Quinn was so excited about going to the Chasity Ball. Wearing the Chasity Ball Gown, having Finn dancing with her, her parents smiling and being very proud of her. Now Quinn might not get any of that at all, not if the truth would ever come out.
Quinn wasn't sure how to tell her parents about the little girl growing inside of her. She was so hoping that it would be like what Kurt went through in coming out to his Dad. Both of her parents being disappointed that she didn't wait until she was ready but Quinn could live with that. But she was also hoping both of them would be supportive of her and helping her with what might be the best decision for her baby girl. She was still leaning heavily towards adoption. Not because of Puck being the father, but because she wasn't ready at all to be a Mother, not this early in her life. Well, it's Ballad week in Glee Club. Maybe Quinn could get some help on how to tell her parents with the Glee Club's help like Kurt did when he went to tell his Dad about him being gay? It's an idea and it could work, hopefully.
Quinn, with her Chasity Ball Gown on, stood proud and tall in front of the mirror. She couldn't help but smile and pretend that for a few minutes that she, Quinn Fabray, was still the top Alpha Female of all of McKinley High School. That she wasn't a disappointment of a daughter to her parents. That she was still Finn's girlfriend and wouldn't have to worry about losing him to Man Hands because of her damn talent and her instance on stealing him from her.
"Oh, my! You look so beautiful!" Mrs. Fabray said looking at her daughter in her Chasity Ball Gown. "I can't tell you how proud your father and I are of you. The Chasity Ball is a very important event for us. Oh, I remember first meeting your father there. Of course that's another story for another time. Let's take a look at you in this dress."
Quinn did miss her Cheerios outfit, though. It hid her baby bump, that she was starting to get, so well. And Quinn was very grateful for the seamstress when they went to get this dress made a month ago. The seamstress left a little room on the sides, just encase she wound up eating a lot at the Ball with all that food. Which means, other than it being a bit snug in a couple of places, it zipped up and fitted just nicely. Now, all she had to do was find a way to fit in the dress next month at the Chasity Ball and hide her pregnancy until further notice.
"Oh, not seeing, not seeing," Mr. Fabray said walking in to the room with his hand over his eyes smiling.
"Dad, it's not like I'm getting married," Quinn laughed.
"Well, that's true and you my wonderful daughter of mine. Have plenty of time for that," Mr. Fabray said twirling his daughter around. "Looking very lovely Quinny. And speaking of having plenty of time for marriage. How is that . . . Boyfriend of yours? Finn Hudson right?"
"Yes, Dad. You saw him last week when he picked me up for our date," Quinn reminded her Father.
"He's not . . . He's not, uh, pressuring you, is he? Because if he is, we want to know about it," Mr. Fabray said. He did met Finn last year when he first started dating his daughter. And Finn knows that if he even tried anything with his daughter, then Mr. Fabray had no problem in going to prison for a few years.
"Oh, no, Dad. Finn's been gentlemen," Quinn reassured her Father.
"Ah, well that's good to hear. Now, remember, pumpkin you can always come to us for anything," Mr. Fabray told his daughter. He was so proud of her and wanted to make sure that no boy tried to take advantage of her either.
"I know Dad," Quinn smiled faintly. She felt so bad lying to them about her being pregnant but what choice did she have?
"Good. Then why don't you invite him to dinner then? How's Wednesday night sound?"
"Sounds good, Dad. I'll ask him," Quinn said.
(Hallway)
Quinn saw Finn by his locker and couldn't help but smile a bit. Finn was a good guy, he might not be the smartest guy in McKinley but he did what he could. Not to mention he was willing to support her with the baby. Quinn knew that Finn would more than likely want to keep the little girl, but Quinn couldn't. She couldn't do that to her daughter, to the little girl. There was no way, even if they both worked, they couldn't give her the life she needs, the life that she deserves.
Quinn wasn't ready to be a Mom just yet, and Finn (even though his heart's in the right place), he wouldn't be able to provide the money the little girl needed. No, the best option there was for them, was adoption. Who knows, maybe they could get an open adoption and see which family or couples who wanted to be parents, would be good for her? It was an idea and so far, it was the best option the two of them have right now.
However, what didn't make Quinn very happy and quickly whipped the smile off her face was standing right next to Finn. Rachel kept giving Finn that fake sweet smile, making googly eyes at him, and batting her eyes at him, trying to make Finn notice her. It was pathetic! How can Man Hands even think of stealing another girl's man from her? Even though that other girl was expecting a child, Rachel still was trying to steal the girl's man from her? How low can you get? That's beyond low. Oh, wait this was Rachel Berry, Quinn was talking about. Of course she would sink that low. Hell, she did tried to blackmail Quinn to keep her mouth shut about what Rachel was planning to do with Cassidy.
"Finn," Quinn said standing in front of Rachel, ignoring her whimpering protest of how rude it was to cut in front of someone. Quinn put on her best smile, she always saved specially for Finn. "My parents want to invite you to dinner Wednesday night. Do you think you can make it?"
"Yeah sure," Finn said smiling at his girlfriend. "I love to come over Wednesday night. I'll ask Kurt if he can help me find something nice to wear to dinner."
"Thanks Finn," Quinn said linking their arms together. "Walk me to class?"
(Classroom)
David was sitting in his Spanish 2 Honors Class, contemplating on how to ask Kurt out. He wasn't even sure what song to sing to Mercedes either, but he could probably ask Mercedes or Tina for advice on that though: There both Kurt's friends. The big problem David had though was coming up with a plan to tell his Father. David was seriously thinking about talking to his Grandma May about all this. She was very open minded about a lot of things that could be an idea. David saw that class was about to start in five minutes when Rachel and Mercedes walked in. More so, Mercedes marching in and Rachel chasing after her with none stopping questions. 'Causing David to chuckle a bit it.
"David!" Uh oh. Rachel has that look in her eyes, like she just stumble upon a million dollar idea. "Your friends with Finn, right?" David looked over at Mercedes for help as to why Rachel was asking if he was friends with Finn. Mercedes just shook her head with an annoyed look and rolled her eyes.
"Um, okay?" David said uncertain as to where this was going.
"Well, what's a good song for me to sing, so I can win Finn over?" Oh, now, Mercedes reaction was starting to make a whole lot of sense. "I was thinking Celine Dion, but I can't think of which song to choose from. I was thinking of maybe My Heart Will Go On? Or maybe I should do It's All Coming Back To Me Now? Oh, wait, I know! I Will Always Love You is always a good song to sing to someone."
"Rachel! You should stop and think for a minute," David said. "You got partner with Finn, right?" Rachel happily nodded yes to that. "Okay, so how do you feel about Finn . . ."
"I want Finn! He's amazing! He's charming, cute, sweet, popular, Captain of the Football Team, a great singer, who can really complement my singing talent really well," Rachel rattle on.
". . . And Quinn?" David finished. Man, he had forgotten how pushy and extremely annoying Rachel was when it came to not getting her way.
"I . . ." Rachel never gotten the chance to answer as a stream of students came rushing in to make it before the final bell.
(Finn's House)
"Thanks for coming over Kurt," Finn said leading Kurt to the basement. "I know how much you're into this fashion stuff. I'm just really lost. I definitely want to find something nice to wear for the Fabray Dinner."
"No problem," Kurt said smiling. "I'm honor that you asked me to help out."
"Here it is," Finn said after moving a few boxes around. He found his Dad's old locker trunk. Finn opened the locker and found a lot of his Dad's old clothes. "Hey, here you go. Wear that next time Puck tries to throw you in the dumpster." Finn smiled putting an army helmet on Kurt.
Kurt chuckled a bit at that. He was grateful that Finn stopped Puck from bullying him, at least in the halls he did, but it's a start. Kurt wasn't sure but maybe if Puck stopped being a bullying delinquent. Then maybe just maybe Kurt wouldn't mind being Puck's friend. Finn wasn't that bad, when he was away from his so called friends on the football team. Maybe Puck'' the same way, maybe Puck, away from his reputation and the people he feels like he has to impress by being a badass. Puck could be a somewhat decent friend.
"My Mom didn't have the heart to throw this stuff out," Finn said smiling sadly.
"My Dad's the same way," Kurt said understanding. "He still keeps her toothbrush next to his on the sink. The broken dresser, it still smells like her perfume. Sometimes when I have a really bad day I will, go in there, open all the drawers and just sit there. I close my eyes and just smell her. I know it seems stupid."
"No, dude. It's not stupid at all," Finn said reassuringly. It felt weird but this seemed like what it might have felt like to be a big brother. Finn found a blazer in the locker. "Hey about this?"
"Not half bad," Kurt nodded approvingly. "Hhhhmmm, let me see." Kurt went through the locker and pulled out a couple of dress shirts, dress pants and a few ties. "Hey, does your Mom have a sewing kit?"
"Yeah, right over there," Finn said uncertain as to why Kurt was asking. He saw a couple shirts and pants that Kurt found. Maybe, he wants to see if he might need to hem them? Finn saw Kurt looking through his Mom's sewing kit, picking up a small pad of paper, a small pencil and some kind of measuring tape"
"Okay, I'm going to be taking your measurements. This will help me greatly, in finding the right size for you and to see if I need to do a quick hem up on anything," Kurt said. Then he quickly went to work getting all the measurements he needed from head to toe. "Okay, not bad, not bad. Broad shoulder, broad chest and your about what? Six feet tall?"
"Six, one," Finn answered.
"Okay. Let me see, let me see. This should be good." Kurt took one of the dress shirts he found earlier and shook the wrinkles out of it a bit. It wasn't that bad at all, a little faded, but it was a nice long sleeve, off white button down, dress shirt. It looked really long but then again Finn was a tall guy and usually long shirts were the best for men like that.
Kurt then took a pair of midnight black dress pants he found. The pants were indeed a bit worn but it was still in decent shape. He might just need to hem the legs up a bit though. Hhhhmmm, needs something, but what? Ah, here we go, a nice belt to go with it or maybe a comber bon. He'll save it for last.
Kurt then went to another locker that was leaning up and opened it. There were many different coats, jackets and perfect dinner jackets and blazers hanging up. Perfect. Now, what will be a good jacket for Finn to wear? Hhhhhmmmm, navy blue, dark charcoal, gray, and black, not a bad array of blazers if Kurt does say so himself.
"Your Dad had good taste Finn," Kurt said pulling out a few blazers and inspecting them. "Alright, now let me see what I can come up with for you."
(Choir Room)
Britney was happily talking adamantly on the phone making her way to the Choir Room. She was meeting up with Puck to see about which songs they might want to do for Ballad Week for Glee. "Okay, so you're thinking of maybe doing that for them. Well, that sounds good. Okay, I'll talk to Puck about that. Yeah, okay, see you later." Britney hung up and turned to Puck to give him the good news. "That was Mercedes. They were thinking that all of us in Glee would sing a ballad to Finn and Quinn as a way to show them our support."
"No!" Puck shouted.
"No, what?" Britney asked confused.
"No, I'm not singing to them!" Puck exclaimed. "Grrrrr. Finn gets everything! He gets the girl, he gets the sympathy, and he gets the damn solos! What about me?! Does he ever remember his best friend?! No! Of course not, he just remembers me when Quinn's being too much of bitch!"
"Puck, what's going on with you? You're being awfully mean. More than usual," Britney said. Something was going on here but Britney couldn't put her finger on what it was though. Was Puck jealous of Finn and his new popularity of having a kid with Quinn? That could be it. Puck just not liking the fact that Finn was stepping into Puck's spotlight as the most popular guy in McKinley.
"Finn's not the father! I am," Puck said with his head hung low.
"Then why did you tell everyone in Glee Club that Finn was the father?" Britney asked not getting why Puck lied about something like that.
"Because Finn's my best friend and Quinn . . . No matter how hard I tried to show her that I can make a good Dad. She just doesn't want anything to do with me. Mr. Lima Loser," Puck sighed sitting down on one of the chairs. "Now, what am I going to do?"
"Nothing that's what you're going to do. No, hear me out," Britney said holding up a hand to Puck. "Look Puck you need to stop and fully think about this. What's going to happen if you're found out to be the father?" Puck didn't answer. To be honest, he actually didn't know what would happen.
"Quinn will throw a Drama Queen worthy fit that would rival Berry's, because she's too afraid of losing Finn over everything else. She lost her position as the HBIC of all of McKinley. She's no longer on the Cheerios. And truth be told, she probably only has me and Santana as the only friends she's got in this joint." Britney looked at Puck to try and gauge his reaction. "Not to mention, Finn will be furious. He will go right after you, Puck for sleeping with his girl. He will blame both, you and Quinn for cheating on him. But he'll most likely be blaming you."
"Wait, what?" Puck asked confused about that. Why would he just be blaming him for sleeping with Quinn? She could have just told him that she wasn't interested? Hey he would have been disappointed but wouldn't have pushed and could have just easily have found someone else for a playmate that night.
"Think about it Puck. Everyone including the Freshmen knows that you go after every girl in this school. You even briefly dated Berry, just so you can say you dated every hot Jew. Finn knows that you're a Sex Shark. But he also thought that you had some decently as to not go after his girlfriend, until they're no longer together. He will blame you for his and Quinn's breakup and for having her lie to him about who the father was," Britney explained not getting why Puck had never thought of this in the first place.
"And if Berry found out. She would twist everything around, just so she could break Finn and Quinn up. Just so, she could date Finn and use him to make her so called Broadway career go places that doesn't involve Lima. Not to mention, that everyone in the Glee Club would just chalked it all up, as you being your Juvenile delinquent self. Not caring about other people's feelings or the consequences. And they'll think, that you just went after Quinn, just so you could brag and tell everyone that you slept with McKinley's Head Cheerio because of your reputation of Lima's Badass," Britney told Puck.
Unfortunately for Puck though, Britney was one hundred percent right. The Glee Club and everyone in McKinley would take Quinn's side. Hell, Puck wouldn't put it past Berry to try and use this, just to breakup Quinn and Finn and started dating Finn ASAP. So, that just begs the question, what does Puck do now?
"So, what do you think I should do?" Puck asked nervously.
"You need to sit down with Quinn and the two of you need to talk. Then either you or Quinn or in this case the both of you. You need to sit down, with Finn and tell him the truth. No, wait," Britney said holding up her hand to stop Puck's protest.
"You two need to tell Finn the truth before Berry finds out and spills the beans. Yes, Finn will be furious at Quinn for cheating on him and for making him seem completely stupid. And yes, he will be ultra pissed at you for sleeping with girlfriend and for going along with this whole facade. But the friendship you guys made will be able to be mended. It might not be as strong but it would be fixed. Also, Puck, you need to think on how you would feel if the roles here were reversed. How would you feel if you and Quinn were dating and then she went and slept with Finn and lied to you about you being the father?"
Puck hated to admit it, but Britney did actually made a good point there. If the shoe was on the other foot, Puck would be extremely pissed off at Finn for sleeping with his girl. Reputation or not, you shouldn't sleep with someone's girl, especially your best friends! Oh, God, what did he just do? He slept with his best friend's girlfriend, lied to the Glee Club of who the Father was and he just helped Quinn out, with who to blame as the ultimate escape goat. Oh, man. Puck was royally screwed seven ways to Sunday.
But Britney also made a very good point as well. Puck needed to talk to Quinn, because even though she cast Finn as the father of her child. Finn still had the right to know the truth. And Britney was also right about another thing. If the roles were reversed, yeah, Puck would want to know the truth about this. More so from the ones that were actually involved, because that was less of a chance of something being added or taken out of context by third party.
"You're right Britney. I do need to do all that . . . And Quinn as well. Me and Quinn need to sit down with Finn and tell him the truth," Puck said agreeing with Britney. "How come you're not this smart in class?"
"Because it's class," Britney said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Which to Britney it was. "I get all of this stuff with relationships and all. But when it comes to things like Algebra and English . . ."
"Yeah, I hear yah."
"Come on, let's find a song to sing and then we can figure out what song to sing to Finn and Quinn."
Outside the Choir Room, she stepped away from the door frame. She couldn't believe what she just over heard. Finn's not the father but Puck is? And Quinn lied about who the father of her child was from the very beginning? Oh, hell to the no! They so got to keep Rachel out of loop and make sure that damn Drama Queen Diva never found out about this until it was too late.
Remembering that she was still on the phone, "Tina? Did you just hear what just heard?"
"Yeah, I did. Mercedes, we can't let Rachel find out about this!"
"I know girl. I know."
(Quinn's House)
Quinn looked in the mirror one last time, checking to make sure that her makeup and hair was in perfect place. When she was satisfied, Quinn stepped out of her bathroom and began her walk to the family room. Man, Quinn missed her perfect size two dress but the size four fitted and it hid your baby bump so nicely. Quinn could do this. She just needed to get through dinner, then she could start planning on how to hide her pregnancy from her parents. She felt bad for lying to them about something like this but what choice did she have?
Her Father would be so disappointed in her, that he would flat out disown her right then and there. Her Mother would just go with it. If you just ignore the problem then it never existed. That was the Fabray Family motto, just ignore the problem you don't want to know about or acknowledge. Quinn didn't want to be a disappointment to them, nor did she want to be the cause of the family problems because of this. It was a mistake. Quinn just needed to feel like she was pretty and wanted. To be noticed for all of hard work she's done. If the pregnancy got to them . . .
Quinn made her way to the family room, with a carefully crafted smile, as to not let her parents know that something was wrong. Five minutes later, the doorbell rang and there standing in the porch light was Finn, looking very handsome in his dinner attire. Finn wore a black blazer, an off white dress shirt, black dress pants and a dark charcoal common bon. He also a bouquet of Quinn's favorite flowers.
"Thank you Finn," Quinn said accepted the flowers and letting Finn in. "Let me put these in some water."
"You look lovely this evening," Finn complimented.
He was hoping to talk to Quinn, seeing about what she wanted to do, as far as letting her parents know about the pregnancy. Finn was scared. He never once met Quinn's parents when they were extremely upset about something but he was really hoping that if they found out about the baby. They would support they're decision, whatever that might be. Finn knew that Quinn was heavily leaning more towards adoption for their child, and even though Quinn had brought up some valid points about adoption being the best option for their child. Finn couldn't stop thinking about the possibilities of actually being a Father to his little girl. But that was a discussion for another time. Right now he needed to get through dinner with the Fabrays.
(Family Room)
Dinner went well, now the Fabrays and Finn were all seated in the Family Room. Mr. and Mrs. Fabray were bringing out the photo albums and telling stories about how proud of their little they were. Finn noticed that Quinn was starting to feel a little uncomfortable. It was probably because of all the praise she had gotten from her folks and add the fact that they were keeping a big secret from them, was more than likely, starting to get to her. Finn grabbed Quinn's hand and smiled at her.
"Don't worry Quinn," Finn said reassuringly. "I had to go through this myself with my Mom showing you my baby pictures when we first gotten together."
"Speaking of which," Mrs. Fabray said looking at Finn. "How is your Mother doing? You know I haven't had the chance to get to the Girl's Book Club."
"She's doing good. A little over worked because of the crazy shifts at the hospital, but doing good. Thanks for asking," Finn politely said.
"Well, that's good to hear. Oh, I heard that you gotten yourself job Finn?" Mr. Fabray asked.
Finn explained to Mr. and Mrs. Fabray about getting a job at Hummel's Tire and Lube as a part time mechanic. He also went on and told them that Kurt Hummel, a friend from school, helped put together the dinner attire. While Finn politely answered and listened to Quinn's parents gossip. Quinn couldn't help but look down at one of the pictures in the photo album. It was when they were on their vacation in New York. Quinn had loved it there and even indulged in her Mother's love of Broadway Musicals.
****** Glee Full Performance: Papa Don't Preach ******
(Quinn)
Papa I know you're going to be upset
'Cause I was always your little girl
But you should know by now
I'm not a baby
Quinn looked down at the photo album in her lap looking at all the different pictures. They were of all different stages of her life and they were all moving. One of them was of Quinn when she first started going to school. She was dressed in her school outfit and caring her teddy bear with her, holding her Daddy's hand, looking nervous.
(Quinn)
You always taught me right from wrong
I need your help, daddy so please be strong
I may be young at heart
But I know what I'm saying
When Quinn was going into High School, she tried out for the Cheerios and made the team! She then went on and led the team to win several trophies for the Cheerios Trophy Case, including another First Place National Trophy for 200 to be properly displayed."
(Quinn)
The one you warned me all about
The one you said I could do without
We're in an awful mess, and I don't mean maybe
Please
Quinn took a huge step in stepping outside the box for a lot of the girls at McKinley. Instead of waiting around for Finn to ask her out, she asked him out instead. Quinn knew that this was going be beyond shallow and extremely vain, but if she and Finn were dating; Head Cheerio and the Captain of the Junior Varsity Football Team. Then they would be a shoe in for Homecoming King and Queen.
However, there was always something that drew Quinn to Puck, she didn't know what it was though. Maybe it was the whole bad boy image that he perfected? Whatever it was that kept drawing her attention to him, it had gotten way out of hand and Quinn doesn't mean two of McKinley's top dogs fighting over her. In a relationship with a boy she was supposed to be head over heels for, but having a baby with another.
[Auditorium]
Quinn was on stage wearing her Cheerios Uniform practicing her Ballad for Glee Club. Maybe she could sing this to her Father, letting him know about her being pregnant.
(Quinn)
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby, oh
I'm gonna keep my baby, mmm . . .
Quinn visits Finn at his job and smiles. She's proud of him for getting a job to help support her. They need to sit down and talk about what they should decide on. Keeping the little girl or give her up for adoption.
(Quinn)
He says that he's going to marry me
We can raise a little family
Maybe we'll be all right
It's a sacrifice
Quinn was now in the Choir Room talking to her friends and to the girls in Glee Club. She wants to know their opinions on maybe what her opinions for the baby might be. Should she and Finn kept the little girl or should they put it up for adoption.
(Quinn)
But my friends keep telling me to give it up
Saying I'm too young, I ought to live it up
What I need right now is some good advice,
Please
Quinn sees her Father talking to Finn while watching a game. She so hopes that her Father will support them, because right now. She really needs her Daddy.
(Quinn)
Daddy, daddy if you could only see
Just how good he's been treating me
You'd give us your blessing right now
'Cause we are in love, we are in love,
So please

Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep
Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep
Oh, I'm gonna keep my baby, ooh
Don't you stop loving me Daddy
I know, I'm keeping my baby

"Quinn? Are you alright honey?" Mrs. Fabray asked seeing her daughter spaced out.
"Sorry Mom. Just thinking about a big test I have coming up," Quinn explained.
"Oh, well, if you need any help with studying. Let me know," Mrs. Fabray offered.
"Don't worry Mom. I will," Quinn said with a strained smile.
(Family Room)
Mrs. Fabray sat there in shocked silence; she couldn't believe what she had just heard moments ago. Quinn said that she was worried about a test, so Finn offered to give her some last minute prep time studying before he went home. Mrs. Fabray had liked Finn when he started dating her daughter. Finn was respectful, kind, polite, Captain of the Football Team and it seemed like he was trying to keep his grades up to get a scholarship for college. His Mom was a respectable young women, with a good career and a well-paying job. Mrs. Hudson did all she could to raise her boy right and that made Mrs. Fabray even more proud of her daughter for making a good choice in choosing a boyfriend.
But now, here she was, sitting in the Family Room, with her tear stained daughter, a fearful looking Finn Hudson, and a very disappointed and upset husband. Both, her and her husband went up to Quinn's room to tell Finn it was time for him to start heading home and finding the door closed (which Quinn knew not to do with a boy over). Mr. and Mrs. Fabray went to open the door and to kindly remind Quinn of keeping her door open when she had company over. It was nothing major really, the reason why Mrs. Fabray had that rule when Quinn brought her boyfriend over was because Mrs. Fabray had a very firm belief in waiting until marriage. And Mrs. Fabray was deeply trying to install that firm belief into her daughter.
So, when Mrs. Fabray opened her daughter's door and overheard Finn and Quinn talking about a Doctor's appointment with a Baby's Doctor. She was more than shocked at the new. She was almost in complete and utter denial, that her little girl had gone and done something like that. But no, there was no denying it. Her baby girl had made an awfully bad choice and now she was going to be a Mother and Mrs. Fabray was going to be a Grandmother. Mrs. Fabray didn't know what to say or do but unfortunately, her husband did.
"Get out," Mr. Fabray said barely above a whisper pointing and glaring at Finn.
"What? Daddy Finn's a good guy," Quinn said with tears in her eyes.
"You too," Mr. Fabray said to Quinn.
"Harold!" Mrs. Fabray protested.
"What? You're kicking your daughter out?!" Finn said in disbelief. "Me, yeah sure, I can see that. But your own daughter?"
"That abomination, is not my daughter," Mr. Fabray said venomously.
"Mrs. Fabray do something! You can't let this happen! You can't let him kick your daughter out like this!" Finn pleaded. He could see and understand them kicking him out and having him to never see Quinn ever again. But this?
"Don't bother Finn," Quinn said with tears running down her cheeks. "If she was going to do something, she would've when she knew that I was pregnant."
"You knew about this?" Mrs. Fabray accused.
"No, I just found out. Just like you," Mrs. Fabray defended herself.
"But you knew. You knew that I was pregnant and you did nothing. Just like now. You just ignore the problem then it doesn't excised. That's the Fabray motto," Quinn said through her sobs.
"Don't you turn this on us young lady," Mr. Fabray warned. "I want you out of this house! You are not my daughter!" Mr. Fabray said.
"But Daddy! I just made a mistake. I'm still your little girl. Who really needs her Daddy right now," Quinn cried and pleaded.
"No. You're not my daughter. My daughter knew better then to give herself to the first boy she thought she was in loved with. You're too young to know what that is. And you went and disgrace this family?! No, you are getting out of my house! And I never want to see you again," Mr. Fabray said kicking his daughter out and disown her at the same time.
"Fine. We'll go. And thank you for showing us exactly the kind of man you truly are." Mr. Fabray looked like he was about to murder Finn for talking to him like that. "You would put your own reputation, and so called family name before you even help your own family!? All to save face to a bunch of dicks who wouldn't even know you or even talk to you unless you made hundreds of thousands of dollars." Finn took a breath to help calm himself down. He needed to be there for Quinn, then he could give Mr. Fabray a piece of his mind for being the Bad Father of the Year. "You know what, if we decide to keep our little girl. I'm not going to do what you just did. I'm not going to toss her aside like yesterday's trash when she did something stupid," Finn said to Mr. Fabray. Before they left the room to go pack, Finn turned to Mrs. Fabray. "How can you live with yourself doing absolutely nothing while your daughter gets thrown out?"
Mrs. Fabray said nothing. She didn't say anything when Finn and Quinn packed up Quinn's suitcases. She didn't say anything when Quinn took one last pleaded look at her before breaking down and sobbing on her way out. She didn't say or do anything. She just say there, like the good wife was supposed to do and support her man's decision. Mrs. Fabray didn't say or do anything because her husband was just hurt, felt betrayed, disappointed, upset and angry. And all of this was just him lashing out on the first guilty parting; which unfortunately was their daughter. Mrs. Fabray knew that, that was all it was. It was just her husband lashing out. When her husband cools down and he's able to think straight and logically, then he'll come to his senses on what he just did. He'll be apologizing a thousand times over to bring Quinn and once that happens. They can sit down and rationally think things through. A week, just one week, then her husband will see what he did was wrong once he's able to think rationally. Quinn will be home, and they can move on past this. At least that was what Mrs. Fabray was hoping for.
(Finn's House)
Finn was so angry he felt like he was about to explode! How dare them!? How could Mr. Fabray just kick his own daughter out like that?! How could Mrs. Fabray just sit there and do absolutely nothing, like she just approved all of it? Finn couldn't wrap his mind around it. He could and was seriously expecting and preparing himself to be kicked out of the house. And to have Mr. Fabray literally threaten Finn with a shotgun and forbid Quinn to never see Finn ever again for the rest of their lives. But this?! This just takes the cake as his Mom always said.
Finn was driving them to his house. His Mom would aloud Quinn to stay for a least a few days. Finn's Mom knew that Quinn was pregnant and that was made Quinn very unhappy because their Moms' knew each other. And Quinn was just flat out scared. Finn knew now and unfortunately they, both found out the hard way why Quinn was so scared of her parents finding out of her being pregnant. Finn thought that if pushed came to shoved and if Quinn could only stay with them for a few days. Then at least they could ask the New Directions for help. It was something, but Finn would guess that Quinn might not be too thrilled for the idea. Backup plan, asking the New Directions was just hat, a last minute backup plan.
Okay, enough of the silence. Finn couldn't stand silence, especially the awkward kind of silence. Which was why Finn liked working at the shop. If it wasn't tolls and everyone talk about something, then at least they had the radio to listen too. Ah, there's an idea, the radio. Finn quickly turned the radio on. It tuned into his favorite Classic Rock Station.
********* Glee Full Performance: I'll Stand By You *********
Let me see you through
'Cause I've seen the dark side too
Yes, Finn had seen the dark side tonight. Finn recognized the song. It was one of his favorites of all time. He always sang this song in his room when things were hard for him and his Mom. Looks like the Fates are seeing the hard times for him and Quinn and picked this song, for them.
When the night falls on you
You don't know what to do
No, they don't know what to do. Not after tonight. Tonight, was so hard on them, both mentally and emotionally. Where do they go from here? What can they do? These were just a couple of the questions going through Finn's head as he drove them home.
Nothing you confess
Could make me love you less
How true was that line? Finn loved Quinn so much, he wasn't sure if he could date someone else. He wasn't sure what the future may hold for them. If they did decide to give up their baby girl for another family to be able to raise and give her the life she deserves. If they decide to keep her and try to be the parents she would need to raise and provide for her. Or what will happen after they graduated High School. They might stay together or not, but right now, it's pretty damn good.
Finn looked over at Quinn briefly and saw how stressed she still was. Well, this week's assignment is Ballad. What a better song to have and sing to Quinn? To tell her how he feels? To show her his true side for her.
(Finn)
I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you
Quinn smiled a bit. She knew what Finn was trying to do. He was trying to lighten the mood for her. And Quinn couldn't deny it. This was a perfect song for them, to sing. So, she decided to take the next part of the song.
(Quinn)
So if you're mad, get mad
Don't hold it all inside
But unfortunately, that's all Quinn knew how to do. Bottle up all of her feelings and show no mercy. There's no mercy for the weak and if you do show mercy. Then you'll get destroyed by the others on top of the social ladder or by to ones you decided to take it easy on. Quinn found that out the hard way and it took her years to get on top of the social ladder and stay on top. That's why she did the things she did to the Glee Club. She wanted to be the boss and never be the Lima Loser ever again. And in order to that she had to impress Coach Sylvester, both on the team and in the halls.
(Quinn)
Come on and talk to me now
Hey, what you got to hide?
Everything. Quinn had everything to hide from everyone at McKinley. Her feelings about Puck, her thoughts and feelings on maybe keeping the baby, her thoughts and feelings on possibly liking and enjoying Glee Club. Quinn trying to convince herself that she really and truly is attracted too and in love with Finn. Why else would she be dating him? Why else would she lie about him being the father? Why else would be so scared out of her mind if the truth ever came out?
'Because Quinn, you're scared of being label as a Lima Loser. Never getting out of this cow town. Coming back ten to twenty years later for the High School Reunions and having absolutely nothing to show for it. That's why Quinn that's why!' Quinn argued with herself.
(Quinn)
I get angry too
Well I'm a lot like you
When you're standing at the crossroads
And don't know which path to choose
Let me come along
'Cause even if you're wrong
Oh god, was she ever wrong?! Disowned, disgraced, damaged, kicked out of her house, pregnant, lying about who the father is, Quinn could go on. And what did she do to deserve this? She didn't start to do something wrong until the party! Or was she really paying for all the nasty and hurtful things she had done in the past, just so she would never have to go through being a Lima Loser like she was in elementary school?
But at least one good thing came out of this. Quinn will deny it until she's thirty but the one good thing that came out of this was Glee Club. She can still have an extracurricular on her applications for colleges and at least she's on a team that wants her, that needs her. She was starting to see her real friends.
(Finn and Quinn)
I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you
Take me in, into your darkest hour
And I'll never desert you
I'll stand by you
(Finn)
And when . . .
When the night falls on you, baby
You're feeling all alone
You won't be on your own
'No,' Finn thought. 'No, Quinn won't be on her own. Even if she hates it. At least we have an option. If she can't stay at my house then there's always the Glee Club for support. it's not the best option but at least it's an option.'
(Finn)
I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
Finn pulled in to the driveway and turned the engine off. It's now or never. He got out his truck and helped Quinn out. They made their way to the front door.
(Finn)
I'll stand by you
Take me in, into your darkest hour
Finn unlocked the front door and offered Quinn to go in first. His Mom raised him to be a gentleman. Though he hated to disappoint her if his Mom ever found out about the bullying he did at school in order to be popular and just to be liked by everyone.
(Finn)
And I'll never desert you
I'll stand by you
Finn took their coats off and hanged them up. Then he led Quinn in and started to search for his Mom and ask if Quinn could stay with them. He was hoping she would say yes. His Mom found out about Quinn being pregnant when she found the sonogram bill in his room, when she went to dust it.
(Finn)
I'll stand by you
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
Finn took Quinn's hand in to his and headed down the stairs towards the basement. It was Wednesday, his Mom's short work day and when she often did laundry because she would have Thursdays off and go to her Book Club while Finn was at Glee Club or practice.
(Finn)
I'll stand by you
Won't let nobody hurt you
I'll stand by you
********* Glee Full Performance: I'll Stand By You *********
Finn and Quinn walked down the stairs and saw Mrs. Hudson. She must have heard them though. "Finn, how many times have I told to turn your t-shirts inside out?"
"Mom?" Mrs. Hudson looked up when she heard her son. She knew that tone and was preparing herself for whatever the bad news her son was about to give her. What she wasn't expecting to see though was Quinn's defeated tear stained face.
"Honey? What happened?" Mrs. Hudson asked concern and worried.
"Quinn got kicked out of her house. Can she stay here for a few days?" Finn asked nervously secretly crossing his fingers.
"Of course she can," Mrs. Hudson said. "Honey, you stay here for as long as you need to get back on your feet."
""hanks Mrs. Hudson," Quinn said in a horse whisper.
"Finn, can you bring up the laundry? Quinn, why don't you go and grab your things, while I'll set up the guest room for you? And Quinn? Call me Carol."
(Choir Room)
"So, they just . . . Kicked her out? Just like that?" David asked in disbelief. He knew that the Fabrays were ruthless cutthroat aristocrats, but this? Damn, there were no words in the dictionary that could describe how David was feeling right now. Now, a lot of what happened before with Quinn living with the Glee Club members was starting to make a whole lot of sense. David just didn't know all the details as why though until now.
"Yeah, Quinn's staying at Finn's as it stands right now," Mercedes said. "Man, we really need to do something for them you know. Show them out support for them in this whole baby drama mess."
David and Mercedes were sitting in the Choir Room waiting for the Glee Club (minus Finn and Quinn) to come. So, they could discuss on what song they should do for them. Mercedes thought that since it was Ballad Week, why not sing them a ballad to show their support.
"Yeah, I know," David thought about it. What would be a good supporting song to sing to Finn and Quinn? "How about Lean On Me by Bill Wither? It definitely shows that they could depend on us for anything they might need help with?"
"That's a good idea"" Mercedes said liking the idea. "So, what's been going on with you and Kurt?"
"What? W-what do you mean?" David asked nervously. How did Mercedes find out about him being gay? How did she find out about his feeling towards Kurt? And did anyone else know?
"Oh, please. Don't act dumb with me, David. Kurt tells me everything during our shopping sprees and girl's nights. Especially, about a hot guy in Glee Club, that he thinks he's readying the signs right. About him being gay but still in the closet. And I've got eyes. I've seen the way you two look at each other and secretly smile, when you think no one's looking. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put two and two together." Mercedes explained looking at David with a half cocked eyebrow raised.
"Alright, alright," David sighed. "I'm gay and I like Kurt."
"Now, what that so hard?" Mercedes asked sarcastically.
"For a guy like me, who everyone thinks, amuses and just expects at first glance that I'm straight? Yeah, it kinda is," David answered honestly.
"Good point. Look David, I'm not going to tell you what to do. But if you go out with Kurt. Be prepare for one of two things. One, Kurt might want to date someone who is proud of being gay like him and not still in the closet. But then again, Kurt might tell you to stay in the closet because he doesn't want it to get worst for either one of you. The bullies might blame him for turning you or they could get downright incredibly nasty towards you for pretending to be their boy." Mercedes bluntly told David. She honestly didn't know which way it would go for her boys, but being in a close minded, backwater, cow town like Lima? It could be incredibly worst before it gets even remotely better for either of them.
"What should I do then?" David asked.
"I don't really have an answer for you David. All I can say is, just go with your gut," Mercedes offered.
The rest of the Glee Club came in and they began to prep to show Finn and Quinn their support. David thought about what Mercedes said. He was proud of being gay but didn't want to go through what he did. So, he decided that maybe he wasn't ready to come out of the closet to the school just yet. But he could come out to his friends and to his family.
(Choir Room)
"Alright, guys. It's the end of Ballad Week and you all did an excellent job," Mr. Schue said. "But a couple of you still have a song to sing. So, who's up next?"
Kurt come up and stood in the front of the Choir Room. "Well, I don't know if this is considered a Ballad or not but it definitely states on the kind of woman you are Quinn. And the woman that you're definitely becoming. Hope you enjoy."
Quinn was baffled. The kind of woman she is and is becoming? She hoped it was a good song. Call her selfish but after the emotional trauma she has gone through and was still going through with trying to keep the secret of who the father of her baby is. She really hoped it was a good song.
(Kurt)
Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?
Do you ever feel already buried deep six feet under?
Screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?
(Cassidy)
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
(Mercedes)
'Cause, baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, "Aah, aah, aah"
As you shoot across the sky-y-y
(Rachel)
Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go, "Aah, aah, aah"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe
(Kurt)
You don't have to feel like a wasted space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow
Maybe a reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow
And when it's time you'll know
(Tina)
You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July
(Santana)
'Cause, baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, "Aah, aah, aah"

Come on, let your colours burst
Make 'em go, "Aah, aah, aah"
You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through-ough-ough

When the son ended, Quinn was in a much better mood. She couldn't have asked for better friends; for better real friends. Quinn was starting to see Glee Club as a family. A dysfunctional family with all the drama and Rachel still trying to steal her man. But a family she can turn too, especially in a situation like this.
"Alright guys, we got time for one more number. Who would like to go next?" Mr. Schue prompted. He knew the New Directions had put together a number for Finn and Quinn. He couldn't have been prouder of his students coming together to support their fellow teammates and classmates.
The New Directions (minus Finn and Quinn of course) same to the front. "Your fellow classmates have put together a little number for you guys. As a way to show their support for you," Mr. Schue told Finn and Quinn what was going on.
"We hope you guys like it"Mercedes smiled proudly.
(New Directions)
Hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum
Hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum
Hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum, hum
(Mercedes)
Oh yeah, oh no
(Artie)
Sometimes in our lives,
We all have pain,
We all have sorrow.
But if we are wise,
We know that there's always tomorrow.
(New Directions)
Lean on me when you're not strong
I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long 'til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on.
(Mercedes)
Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won't let show.
(New Directions)
You just call on me,
Brother, or a sister, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem that you'll understand,
We all need somebody to lean on.
Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long 'til I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
You just call on me,
A brother, or a sister when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem that you'll understand,
We all need somebody to lean on.
(Artie)
If there is a load you have to bear
That you can't carry I'm right up the road
I'll share your load if you just call me.
(Cassidy)
Call me
If you need a friend
Call me
Call me
(Mercedes and the New Directions)
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem that you'll understand,
We all need somebody to lean on.
Call me
If you need a friend
Call me
Call me
You just call on me,
Brother, or a sister, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on.
I just might have a problem that you'll understand,
We all need somebody to lean on.
Just call me
Just call me
Just call me
(Mercedes)
Just call me
You just call on me,
We all need somebody
To lean on, to lean on, to lean on
(New Directions)
Just call me
Just call me
Just call me
You just call on me,
We all need somebody
To lean on
When the song ended, Quinn was in tears but for a good reason. She was extremely happy that she had made the choice join Glee Club. These were her friends. This was her family. And she'd couldn't have chosen a better support group then them. Hopefully when things settle down and when Quinn finds the courage to tell the truth, about the who the father of her baby is. They would still stand behind her and help support her.
The bell rang signaling the end of Glee Club and the end of the day for everyone. Everyone packed up their things and started to head out. Everyone except for David. He decided to hang back for a little bit, trying to catch Kurt's eye. He so wanted to do this. He was going to do it. He was going to ask Kurt out.
"Hey, Kurt. You got a minute man?" David asked trying to keep the nervousness out of his voice.
"Yeah, sure," Kurt said.
David waited until everyone left. Cassidy pretended that she left a book that she needed for homework in her locker to give her brother and his crush some privacy.
"Kurt there's something I really wanted to ask you," David said. "Look, I'm not ready to come out of the closet to the school just yet. And I am trying to find a way to come to my parents and all. But what I'm trying to say is. I really like you Kurt and I was hoping. If want that maybe we could go out. You know, on a date?"
"I love too," Kurt said with a mile wide smile. He was so hoping that David was gay and that he would get the chance to ask him out. Looks like Kurt won't have to wait around.
"What? Really? Y-you really want to go out with me?" David asked making sure that he heard Kurt right.
"Yeah, I would. I was hoping that you played for my team. I was even going ask the guys on how to ask someone I liked out. Turns out he asked me out first," Kurt said. "So, what are you doing Sunday night?"
(Auditorium)
On her way to the Auditorium, to rehearse a song Rachel has been perfecting for her chance to play the ultimate lead female role, Elphaba! Lima Community Theater was finally doing the biggest and best Musical (other than Funny Girl of course) for the Winter Musical Production, Wicked! And Rachel wasn't going to miss a true opportunity to show case her unbelievably natural, soon to be Broadway Star talent and to prove once and for all; who the truly top Diva of the New Directions really was. Rachel made sure to schedule the Auditorium all for herself to get everything right for this role, which she was sure she would be a shoe in to get.
As Rachel walked down the hallway, ear to ear smile on her face to the Auditorium. She saw Finn and Quinn, standing together at Quinn's Locker. They were laughing, talking and making dinner plans for later on that night, while Quinn gathered her belongs. And it just hurt too much seeing them like that. With an aching and breaking heart, seeing Finn with Quinn. Rachel trying her best not to cry her eyes out, over knowing that Finn chose Quinn when he could have had her instead; ran to the Auditorium.
She decided that now was the perfect time to rehearse that song she wanted to audition with. Now, she had the right mind set. Standing the middle of the stage, picturing the spotlight on her, and her face still having tears running down her face. Rachel gathered herself together, to give an Oscar winning performance. She knew which song she will be performing for the casting crew and the director.
(Rachel)
Hands touch, eyes meet
Sudden silence, sudden heat
Hearts leap in a giddy whirl
He could be that boy
But I'm not that girl
Don't dream too far
Don't lose sight of who you are
Don't remember that rush of joy
He could be that boy
I'm not that girl
Ev'ry so often we long to steal
To the land of what-might-have-been
But that doesn't soften the ache we feel
When reality sets back in
Blithe smile, lithe limb
She who's winsome, she wins him
Gold hair with a gentle curl
That's the girl he chose
And Heaven knows
I'm not that girl
Don't wish, don't start
Wishing only wounds the heart
I wasn't born for the rose and the pearl
There's a girl I know
He loves her so
I'm not that girl
When the song ended, Rachel still had some tears coming down her face. It hurt so much seeing the boy, she fell hard in love with, being with another woman. How could he ask her out on a date, kiss her, say that that kiss was real, only to go behind her back and be the all American Boyfriend to Quinn? Quinn was nothing but a horrible, heartless, hypocritical, two face, controlling Ice Queen Slanderer. She spread rumors about anyone she felt threaten by, made sure to rub it in to everyone's face that her and Finn are an item. She threw slushies' and did anything she could to be the number Queen Bee in all of McKinley that could easily rival Coach Sylvester.
Rachel didn't know why Finn would go out with Quinn, let alone stay with her? It was more than obvious that all Quinn was doing was using him for his popularity now that Quinn was no longer the Head Bitch In Charge of all McKinley. Rachel should be happy that Quinn finally got a taste of her own medicine, but for some odd reason, it just wasn't satisfactory enough. And Rachel didn't know why? Why did it hurt so much seeing Quinn with Finn? Why did Rachel feel like the only way should win was if Finn was truly her's?
Rachel would be getting the lead female role in the Lima Community Theater Production of Wicked. There was no way should couldn't get it! She would be getting her lead Alpha Female role of the New Directions back without a shadow of doubt! She would be the Captain of the New Directions (with Finn by her side of course). She will be leading the whole in tire Club to victory and then she will be rubbing it in to Coach Sue Sylvester face. About how the Glee Club won Nationals and will be staying for a long time.
So, why did Rachel feel like her hurt was about to be ripped out of her chest every time she saw Quinn? Why did Rachel feel her heart breaking into a million pieces when she saw Finn looking and smiling at Quinn? Rachel knew the answer. She kept telling herself that the only reason why she never had a boyfriend was because she was way too busy with her career of becoming a Broadway Star or the fact that no boy in McKinley was worthy of her heart . . . But Finn. Finn was different. He was the first boy to make her feel like she was visible. Like she was worth something, like there was something worth fighting for. Not because of his popularity but because he made her felt like she was beautiful. Like she really was what her Dads and she had always been telling herself. Finn Hudson made Rachel feel like she was indeed a Star.
