A/N: Hey guys! Thank you so much for the reviews, you guys seem to love the Morganders! ;) And now, another infamous Hurt!Greg prompt from the lovely McGeeklover - like me, she loves to torture poor Greg ;) It was quite a lengthy prompt, so I figured I'd just post the info for ya.

Prompt: Nick hurts Greg because he's pissed about something. Greg becomes scared of Nick, Nick goes over to Greg's house to apologize. Greg doesn't want to talk but Nick lets himself in and, finds out Greg is having a bad day too- his Papa Olaf died. Nick apologizes and comforts Greg, and Nick suggests they go for a beer and get drunk, Greg agrees.

Hurting

Nick and Greg had been working in the alley where the murder they'd been sent to investigate had taken place. Crowds of people had stopped to watch them from behind the crime scene tape. Suddenly, one man barged through the rest, ducking under the tape and approaching Nick.

"Hey!" the man called "That's my sister!" he said pointing at the body.

"Well I'm sorry for your loss, but please stay behind the tape" Nick told the man calmly.

"I don't think so, man" the guy said, trying to push past, but Nick placed a hand on his chest to hold him back "Let me see my sister!" the man cried.

"Sir, this is a crime scene" Greg said, coming to Nick's assistance "If you want us to find out who did this to your sister, then I suggest you don't contaminate it"

"Yeah" Nick agreed "And besides…for all we know it could have been you"

The man's face immediately turned to one of pure thunder; the rage in his eyes was visibly building. He made a fist and went to swing for Nick; the CSI was ready to defend himself, but then Greg stepped between them and held them apart.

"Back down!" the younger CSI told the man sternly, but the man was still going for Nick, and it didn't help that Nick was trying to get back at him "I said back down!" Greg yelled, threateningly placing a hand on his gun.

The man seemed to sober up at this, all the fight suddenly leaving him. He just gave Nick one last cold glare before storming off down the street. Greg turned to give Nick a questioning look, but the older CSI just scowled back at him before storming off in the opposite direction. Greg frowned confusedly to himself for a moment, before going after Nick.

"Hey!"

"Just leave me alone, Greg!" Nick shouted back.

"No" Greg said stubbornly, finally grabbing hold of Nick's arm and turning the Texan to face him "What the hell was that?!" Greg asked incredulously.

"I could ask you the same question!" Nick retorted "I don't need you to fight my battles for me, Greg! I can take care of myself; you made me look weak…"

"Oh, well I'm sorry for helping you!" Greg replied sarcastically "Why did you provoke him in the first place, huh? You've been really short tempered and confrontational since…" he trailed off and sighed.

"Go on, say it" Nick said in a low voice as he stepped closer to Greg. The younger CSI stepped backwards "Say it!" Nick yelled this time.

"Since Warrick died" Greg said quietly. The tragic event had only occurred about three weeks ago.

"He didn't die, he was murdered" Nick seethed "I don't need you to babysit me….and I know you're keeping tabs on me for Grissom, it's so obvious! You're like his freakin' spy!"

"Well believe it or not I care about you, Nick" Greg replied sincerely "And I'm not just going to wait around for you to self-destruct! I get that you're upset, I do, I miss Warrick too. But stop taking it out on random strangers and stop taking it out on me!"

Nick smirked, but it wasn't in a jokey way, it was somewhat disbelieving "Oh, okay you think this is taking it out on you?" he took a few more steps towards Greg, backing the anxious younger man up against the wall. Suddenly, Nick grabbed Greg's wrist, and placed a hand on his right shoulder, shoving the younger man up against the wall "This is taking it out on you!" the Texan yelled, his grip incredibly tight on Greg's wrist, as he lifted Greg off the walk and slammed him back down again, shaking him a little.

"Nick, please, stop it!" Greg yelled as he tried to shy away.

He was trembling awfully, with flashbacks of the gang attack coming back to him in full force; except this time he couldn't believe it was his best friend who was making him so scared. At the sound of Greg's desperate pleas, Nick appeared to hit reality hard, as he looked into his friend's terrified eyes, the older CSI realised what a volatile monster he had become.

Nick released Greg and took a few steps back, his eyes wide with horror as what he'd done suddenly hit him; he'd hurt Greg, his friend who'd just been trying to look out for him, and Nick had hurt him. Nick felt sick; he was so horrified with himself he couldn't even find the words to apologise.

Greg slowly began to back away; he didn't looked scared anymore, just really disappointed and emotionally hurt. He turned from Nick and started to walk back down the alley.

"W-where are you going?" Nick stuttered.

"I…I'm going home" Greg mumbled "I…I don't feel too good"

And with that, he rounded the corner, leaving Nick to pound the wall in frustration at his own harmful actions over and over again; the Texan hoped he hurt himself that was the least he deserved.

Nick went to drop the evidence off at the lab, and then headed over to Greg's apartment. He'd tried calling the younger man all the time in-between, but understandably Greg had been ignoring him. However, Nick knew this was something he had to apologise for in person and beg Greg to still be his friend, although he would completely understand if the younger man didn't want anything to do with him anymore.

"Greg!" Nick called as he knocked on the door; he made sure not to give off any hint of aggression though "I know you're in there, please just open the door" he begged "I want to tell you how sorry I am. I know you probably don't want to hear it, and you certainly don't owe it to me, but I hate myself for this" he sighed and rested his forehead in the wall. "Greg, please?"

There was no sound of movement which suggested Greg was going to open the door for him, so Nick pulled on the set of keys from his pocket. One of them was for Greg's apartment; the younger man had given it to him after the beating because Greg would frequently seclude himself in his bedroom for days after, and he'd asked Nick to come in whenever that happened and snap him out of it.

Nick realised the horrible irony of the situation now. This time, he was trying to coax Greg out because he was the one who'd caused the younger man fear and pain. Nick couldn't bare it if Greg started locking himself away again because of him. And now, Nick knew what he had done to Greg must be brining up awful memories of that very beating, and the Texan was absolutely disgusted with himself for it.

"G? I'm coming in" Nick warned him as he opened the door and entered the apartment.

The Texan wondered where Greg was for a moment, before he heard heart wrenching sobs coming from the bathroom. Nick cautiously made his way over, and pushed the door open to reveal Greg sat huddled on the floor in the corner with his knees pulled into his chest and arms wrapped around them. His head was buried in his arms, but Nick could just imagine the tears streaming down his face.

"Greggo?" Nick said quietly, hoping the use of younger man's nickname would show he wasn't mad anymore, but a very concerned friend.

"G-go a-away" Greg stammered, not even looking up at him.

"I can't do that" Nick replied quietly "I can't stand to see you so upset"

"It's partially your fault I'm like this!" Greg snapped, finally looking at the older man with his wide puffy eyes.

Nick didn't try to defend himself; he knew he deserved that. "Greggo…" he started as he sat down beside the younger man, but Greg just tried to shuffle further into the corner. It was then Nick noticed the harsh purple bruise which was encircling Greg's wrist, the one he had grabbed. "Greggo I swear I never meant to hurt you" Nick said, his voice thick with emotion "I care about you so much, and I can't thank you enough for all the support you've been giving me…"

"Funny, because earlier it was that support which made you hurt me" Greg mumbled as he looked at Nick. He could see the sorrow and regret in his friend's eyes, but Greg was feeling too vulnerable right now to believe it. "I miss Warrick to you know, he was my friend and mentor….and now he's dead…" his voice broke with tears once more "And then…and then I found out…" he placed a hand over his mouth.

"Found out what, Greggo?" Nick asked concernedly as he shuffled closer to the younger man; he was pleased when Greg didn't try to move away this time.

"My Papa Olaf died yesterday" Greg spoke quietly before breaking into sobs "He was the only one in my family who encouraged me with science…who told me to go out and see the world…and I miss him so much. How can I lose him and Warrick in such a short period of time? It's not fair!" he cried.

"G, I'm so sorry" Nick said sincerely "Why didn't you say anything about your Grandfather?"

Greg sniffed and wiped his eyes as he got the tears under control "You, Griss and Cath were all so upset about Warrick, you needed me to keep it together and support you. I couldn't afford to break down on you guys, even though I was hurting so much inside."

Nick smiled at him sadly "G, you shouldn't have to put your feelings aside just for us. We would have been there for you, we'll still be there for you. Don't ever feel that you have to hide things from us, or that we won't understand. We're a family and we just to take care of you"

"Well, it sure doesn't feel that way at the moment" Greg said wiping his eyes again.

Nick got another glimpse at the bruise he had caused on Greg's thin wrist. Greg let him take hold of it and bring it towards him so he could inspect it and make sure nothing was broken; it was then Greg noticed something about Nick too.

"Why are your knuckles all cut and bleeding?" he asked the older man with a frown.

"I erm… I punched the shit out of a wall" Nick confessed "Although I think it did more damage to me"

"Why'd you do that?" Greg asked quietly.

"Because I hated myself for what I did you" Nick said sincerely "and I still do. I just wanted to feel the pain that I had caused you"

"Nick, you shouldn't hurt yourself like that" Greg whispered concernedly "I…I know that you're sorry, and I guess I can understand… I'm feeling really angry too right now. Like when that guy started shouting, I thought about getting my gun out, I'd never do that before"

Nick smiled at him "Well, don't go changing too much, you make me us all smile Greggo, we wouldn't have been able to survive this without you. And I'm sorry about your Grandfather, from all the stories you told, he was a pretty amazing guy"

"Yeah, he was" Greg said with a small smile "I…I forgive you, Nick. Papa Olaf always told me never to hold a grudge and…and I can't hold a grudge at my big brother"

"Thank you, Greggo" Nick said pulling him into a hug "You're my little bro, and I'll do whatever it takes to make this up to you I promise…how's about starting with some drinks? Let's get drunk and take our minds off things for a while, yeah?"

Greg pulled away and smiled "Yeah, that sounds like a plan"

Nick couldn't help but hug the younger man once more, so relieved to still have Greg in his life, and vowing to never hurt him again.

I find it hard to write this kind of story, because I don't imagine Nick being able to blow up at one of his friend's like that, but I guess grief can do bad things to people, so yeah, sorry for any OOCness. I hope you still enjoyed though :)

Please review and leave prompts :) Xx
