A/N: Hey guys! Wow, a HUGE reaction on the last story which I didn't expect, 13 reviews! Thank you so much :) This story is for Csilover121098 who asked for Morgan getting upset and hurting Greg, bring on the Angst!
Now, I haven't actually seen any season 14 episodes yet, so I've had to make a few assumptions on what happened in the premiere based on what I've read and pictures I've seen, so sorry if it's not very accurate and might contain spoilers :P
Summary – Morgan has a nightmare about her ordeal and unwittingly ends up hurting Greg. Can their relationship survive? Morganders!
Nightmare
She was back in that place again. Lying on the bed with the collar around her neck, the leather tight around her skin; Morgan felt like she couldn't breathe.
There was a creek as the door opened, and a slender female figure came into view. Morgan's eyes grew wide and she began to tremble in fear at the sight of the familiar gun being held by the stranger's side. But the woman's identity didn't stay hidden for long, as she stepped forward from the shadows, and Ellie Brass smirked at Morgan raising the gun.
"No!" Morgan cried. She was sick of this, she wouldn't be made a victim anymore "No, get away from me!" she yelled angrily.
Ellie walked forward though, still keeping the same malicious smile, and as she reached the bed, Morgan launched forward as far as she could and punched Ellie in the face, and then the stomach. The terrified CSI just keep struggling and crying, she wanted to be free again, she wanted the pain to go away…
"Morgan! Morgan, stop!" Greg's voice broke through Morgan's anger filled nightmare.
Morgan's eyes shot open and she sat up in bed gasping for air; it was the worst nightmare she'd had about her ordeal in a few weeks. She was sweating and tears were streaming down her face as she pulled her knees up into her chest and began to sob harder.
Greg scooted over and pulled his shaking girlfriend into his arms, rocking her slightly "Ssh, it's okay baby, it's over now, I'm here, you're okay" he kept repeating these words of comfort as he kissed her cheek every now and again and held Morgan as tight as she'd let him, never wanting to let her go.
Greg hated seeing the woman he loved with all his heart so scared and in so much pain. He felt useless and would do anything just to take Morgan's hurt away, even if it meant trading places with her.
Morgan had been waking up every night the past week in a cold sweat, crying, and it broke Greg's heart every time. She wouldn't even let Greg snuggle close to her when they went to bed because it made her feel trapped again. Greg had come to accept that Morgan would need her own space for a while, and so slept at the other side of the bed. But even now, as he hugged Morgan tight in comfort, Greg could feel that her body was tense, and she was probably itching to get away.
"I'm sorry" Morgan sobbed, wiping her eyes "I-I'm sorry I keep doing this"
"Ssh, it's okay baby, I understand" Greg soothed, rubbing her arms gently "You take all the time you need, just remember I'll always be here for you"
Morgan turned to look at him with red rimmed eyes, but she'd managed to get her tears under control "I know it feels like I've been pushing you away recently, but I wouldn't have made it this far without you, I love you so much, Greg" she said with deep emotion "I love you so much"
"I love you too" Greg said with a sad smile. "Now c'mon, you need to try and get some more sleep"
"I'm sorry I keep waking you" Morgan said guiltily "I don't mean to"
"I know" Greg said, running a hand through her hair "But I don't mind, I just want to be there for you as much as possible" he reassured her, before giving his girlfriend a soft kiss on the lips, and pulling them back down under the bed covers.
Greg went to turn away, knowing that Morgan probably still wanted her space, but he was surprised when he felt her delicate hand grab hold of his arm and pull him back. He smiled at her lovingly, as Morgan wrapped her arms around Greg's slender waist, pulling herself close, and resting her hand on his firm chest.
She was content to hear his beating heart, knowing he was there, and knowing that she was safe. Greg wrapped his arms around Morgan too, and the couple slept in each other's arms for the rest of the night.
Morgan woke up the next morning to find the bed empty except for a note. She rubbed her eyes and realised she'd slept late; she figured Greg must have gone into work; Morgan herself wasn't due to return yet. She opened the note with a soft smile.
Hey Baby,
Sorry but I got called in early. I can't wait to snuggle up with you again, and I'm proud of you for taking a big step last night. Enjoy your day of relaxing, and I made sure the fridge was stocked up with ice cream for you!
All my love,
Greg xx
It was silly, but the message brought tears to Morgan's eyes. She couldn't believe how perfect her boyfriend was, and wanted more than anything to be in his arms again right then. She loved Greg with all her heart and he'd been her rock throughout the whole ordeal. Morgan didn't think he'd ever understand just how much it all meant to her.
So, just as Greg's message had said, Morgan spent her day sat in front of the TV indulging in the junk food Greg had thoughtfully bought for her. When she heard the door unlocking later in the evening to signal her boyfriend was home, Morgan grew excited, but this turned into shock when she saw Greg's face.
"Hey, baby" Greg grinned as he went over to give Morgan a kiss, and then heading to the bedroom before she could even ask any questions.
"Sweetie, what happened!?" Morgan asked in shock as she followed him to their bedroom.
"What do you mean?" Greg asked playing ignorant as he began to throw some fresh clothes on to the bed.
"I mean that black eye!" Morgan said incredulously. "Baby, who did this to you?" she asked quietly, pulling Greg round to face her and then cupping his cheek.
"It was… a suspect" Greg said, but Morgan could tell he was lying "things got a bit out of control"
"Greg…" Morgan said seriously "Please, just be honest with me, baby" but she almost feared the answer.
Greg sighed, and taking hold of Morgan's hand, led her to sit on the bed "Last night…when you were having your nightmare…you sort of…lashed out at me" Greg said sheepishly. Morgan tensed and her eyes grew wide as tears began to pool "You kept telling me to get off, but I needed to wake you up…I guess you thought I was attacking you or something"
Morgan let out a shuddery breath and pulled her hands away. She couldn't believe it, how could she do that to Greg? Sweet, caring Greg, the man she loved with all her heart, who had taken care of her, and gotten up with her during the night. Morgan began to cry, and Greg tried to hug her, but she just shuffled away.
"Baby, I'm sorry" Greg said much to Morgan's surprise "I shouldn't have tried to wake you like that, I obviously scared you…"
"Why are you apologising!?" Morgan asked incredulously; she sounded angry, but she was angry with herself "You've done nothing but take care of me…and I hit you"
"Morgan, it's okay, I don't care." Greg said sincerely "If that's what it takes to make you feel better…"
"I care, Greg!" Morgan exclaimed "I can't believe you'd even think that me hitting you would make me feel better…. I hurt you, I love you so damn much and I hurt you like that"
"Baby, please…" Greg said getting upset himself; he wished he hadn't said anything.
"No, Greg" Morgan said "I need to be on my own for a while…" she said and walked out of the room, slamming the door behind her.
Greg remained sat on the bed, and finally let the tears began to stream down his face. He hated what the kidnapping had done to Morgan, and he hated that she was still blaming herself. But what he hated most was the fact she was distancing herself, just as he'd thought they were finally getting close again.
Greg lay back and buried his head in the pillow; he didn't want Morgan to hear him cry.
It was getting late, and since storming out of the bedroom Morgan had been sat on the couch with her knees pulled up into her chest, just staring at the picture of she and Greg which they'd placed on the mantel piece. Morgan could never believe she'd hurt someone with such a beautiful smile.
The shuffling of feet caused Morgan to turn around, and she watched as Greg sleepily rubbed his eyes. He was wearing his pyjama bottoms and for some reason, a tee-shirt. He used to wear one at the beginning of the relationship when he was self-conscious about his scars, but when Morgan had assured him he would always be attractive to her, he'd stopped wearing one to bed.
And then Morgan remembered back to the nightmare "I-I hit your stomach too, didn't I?" she whispered.
Greg nodded, not wanting to lie to her, and lifting up his top to reveal a circular bruise near his hip. Morgan turned away and bit back a sob. Greg sighed and sat on the arm of the sofa, away from Morgan, not wanting her to get even more upset.
"Come to bed baby, please" Greg said quietly.
"No" Morgan said wiping her eyes "I-I'm scared I'll hurt you again"
"You won't" Greg said firmly "I trust you, Morgan, and I love you more than life itself. I just want to be able to sleep next to you again…because you know I can't sleep without you anymore."
Morgan turned to look at him, her crystal eyes filled to the brim with tears. Greg sighed; he hated seeing his beautiful girlfriend that way. "What if it had been my gun Greg, huh?" Morgan asked with a shaky voice "That was the first night were I didn't sleep with my gun on the bedside, what if it wasn't though, what if my gun had been there and I'd grabbed it and I'd shot you?"
"There's no point thinking about what if" Greg said, sliding on to the sofa and taking Morgan's hand. "Baby, I love you and I just want you in my arms again because it makes me feel better too, knowing that you're there. When you were missing, that was the scariest time of my life, and now I have you back I want to spend every minute I can with you because the thought of losing you again terrifies me. So please, come to bed with me"
Morgan looked up at him, seeing the damage she had done to the beautiful man hurt her badly, yet Greg was still smiling at her. And that's when Morgan realised, Greg would be there for her no matter what; he loved her with all his heart, as she loved him with all of hers.
"Okay" she said quietly, Greg's smile only seemed to grow. "But I'm going to spend the rest of my days trying to make this up to you"
"Just letting me hold you when we sleep is good enough" Greg replied.
Morgan smiled, and her pervious tears of anguish were replaced with those of joy. Greg took her hand and led her to the bedroom. They buried themselves under the sheets, and Morgan pressed herself close to Greg's chest just as promised, as he wrapped his arms around her.
"I love you, Greg" Morgan whispered, as she placed a hand on his beating heart; the heart she vowed never to break again.
"I love you too, Morgan" Greg replied, laying a soft kiss on her forehead.
And for the first time in weeks, the couple sleep peacefully together. No nightmares came to Morgan that night.
Damn, now I've done stories with both Nick and Morgan hurting poor Greg XD I couldn't think of a situation where I thought Morgan would purposefully hit Greg, so I thought she better do it in her sleep. I hope they weren't too OOC.
Prompts and reviews please :) xx
