A/N: Hey guys! Thank you so much for all the reviews :) We are back to Morganders now from the lovely Cirinde Palantir who gave me some things to include about Morgan subtly trying to get Greg to ask her out. I like doing these kinds of stories were Greg is the totally oblivious one for a change ;) Enjoy!
Summary – Greg is oblivious to Morgan's attempts to get them together, can anyone open Greg's eyes? Morganders!
Do You Love Me?
Morgan was sat impatiently tapping her foot against the table in the diner. She was feeling a little anxious; after asking Greg to meet her for breakfast, Morgan was hoping that he'd admit he had the same adoring and wishful feelings for her as she had for Greg. Morgan had wanted this since she first laid eyes on the nervous spikey haired man, and was a little concerned as to why Greg hadn't asked her on a date yet.
Morgan feared it was because Greg didn't want to be in a romantic relationship at all, and was happy with them just being friends. Morgan didn't want to ask him outright how he felt, because if the answer wasn't good news she didn't want things to become awkward between them and potentially drive Greg away from her; she needed him in her life.
So, Morgan had decided to take the subtle approach, like asking Greg to breakfast and hoping it would turn out as more. She wasn't sure why she was so nervous – now taking napkins and ripping them into tiny pieces – this was Greg after all….just Greg…the man she loved…dammit.
"Hey, Hollywood!" the chirpy tone called, and Morgan looked around to find Greg approaching her with his trademark grin. Morgan could have sworn her heart skipped a beat.
"Hi, Greg" Morgan said more quietly than she probably should have but she smiled all the same; since when was she so shy?
Greg seemed to notice it too as he frowned when he sat down "What's up?" he asked concernedly after surveying the carnage of the ripped up napkins.
"Oh, nothing" Morgan insited shaking her head "Just been a rough week I guess"
"Well in that case, I know exactly what you need" Greg said with a soft smile as he reached across the table and placed a hand on top of Morgan's. The females CSI's heart started beating even faster, as she stared with great hope into Greg's eyes "You need, a huge stack of chocolate chip pancakes!" Greg said with a grin and then called the waitress over.
"Oh, yeah of course" Morgan said a little disappointedly, but Greg didn't seem to notice.
She plastered on a smile and once Greg was done making their order, Morgan went back to hungrily staring at Greg's lips and desperately fighting the urge to just push hers up against them. Greg was telling her about a case he'd worked, but Morgan didn't hear much of it as she was too focused on staring at the male CSI.
"Morgan?" Greg said realising the blond seemed to be in a world of her own. "Morgan, you with me?" he asked with a light laugh as he waved a hand in front of her face. Morgan seemed to suddenly snap back into reality "Sorry, am I boring you?" Greg asked sheepishly.
"No, no of course not!" Morgan reassured him "I could never get bored of you" she found herself confessing, but Greg just smiled.
The food was brought and the two CSIs moved onto ideal chitchat; Morgan kept dropping hints about how she thought she needed to find a boyfriend, but Greg didn't appear to catch on, until after they'd finished.
"You know, that guy at the counter hasn't stopped looking at you since I sat down" Greg said with a smirk, and nodded his head over. Morgan turned to look at the attractive man. "He probably doesn't want to say anything though because he thinks we're together…"
"Well, let him think that" Morgan said dismissively because I'd like to think that.
"Oh c'mon you seriously can't say you'd rather be sat here with me when you could be with him" Greg encouraged her "even I know he's way hotter than me"
"No he isn't…" Morgan said with a sad frown, why would Greg think he wasn't good enough himself?
"Pft please" Greg said waving his hand frivolously "You said you'd had a tough week, you need a guy and you want some fun. Let me sort this for you, wingman style" he said with wink, and before Morgan could protest, Greg went over to the man and started talking to him.
Greg returned with the man – who he introduced as Ethan – and then said he'd make himself scarce to give Ethan and Morgan some space. Morgan stayed talking to Ethan for a while; admittedly he was a nice guy, but he just wasn't Greg…
"Hey! How'd it go yesterday?" Greg asked Morgan with a smirk as he walked into the break room the next day.
"Oh, he was nice" Morgan shrugged "but I don't think it's going to turn into anything"
"That's a shame" Greg said, sounding sincere. Morgan couldn't help but feel a little frustrated; she'd at least hoped Greg would be a bit jealous.
Morgan sighed and propped her head in her fist "Do you think I'll ever get a boyfriend?" she asked innocently. She kind of hoped Greg would say yes, and that he would fulfil the role.
"Of course you will!" Greg exclaimed as he sat down beside her with his coffee "You're going to meet the perfect guy someday, who realises just how awesome and special you are, and knows how lucky he is to have you"
Do you wanna be that guy? Morgan desperately wanted to ask, but she knew she had to play it cool "What if I've already met him?" she asked nervously biting her bottom lip.
"Well then that's great!" Greg said, seeming happy for her "You should tell him, he'll probably feel the same, he won't get a much better girl than you" he smiled softly.
This was it; Morgan was going to tell him, she was going to say it. I. Want. You. But then the evil fates decided to take charge as Greg's phone began to ring.
"Oh, I gotta take this" he said looking at the caller ID and heading out the room.
Morgan sighed and started banging her head lightly against the table; she had to do something about this.
Later on, and Morgan was walking by the DNA lab when she spotted Greg laughing about something with Henry. The way the male CSI laughed always made Morgan smile too, and she couldn't imagine him ever being mad.
Well, the one time she had heard about Greg being mad was during the helicopter hijacking and he'd lost it with a suspect. Morgan couldn't help but feel good about that, surely it proved Greg cared about her safety, about her life, and he came to her rescue. Morgan wasn't really one of those soppy romantic types, but Greg had been her knight in shining armour.
I wonder if I'd ended up in hospital for days he'd have sat by my beside? Morgan pondered if he'd take care of me when I was hurt? The blonde was so caught up her thoughts and looking at Greg that she didn't realise until it was too late that she'd walked into the door frame, banging her head and dropping the files she was carrying. Morgan groaned in pain, stupid irony.
"Morgan!" a worried voice called and she turned to see Greg walking towards her "Are you okay? Oh God your head's bleeding" he fretted and began to drag her to the break room.
He sat Morgan down at the table and went to retrieve the first aid kit from under the sink. Greg took some ointment and cotton wool and started dabbing the wound, Morgan hissed in pain.
"I'm sorry, it'll be over in a second" Greg reassured her, but in a weird way Morgan didn't want it to end; she'd got her wish, Greg was taking care of her and she could see the deep concern in his eyes.
"What happened?" Sara asked as she entered the break room to see the two.
"Oh, I'm a klutz" Morgan laughed nervously as Greg handed her a bag of ice "but Doctor Sanders is treating me" she teased.
"I actually thought about being a doctor before I was a CSI" Greg stated "but I was a little nuts, I didn't think people would trust me…"
"Well then they were the nuts ones" Morgan said firmly and Greg smiled at her.
Sara was smiling too; the two youngest CSIs were perfect for each other, everyone could see it, why weren't they together already?
"I'm supposed to be meeting with Russell" Morgan said standing up and holding the ice to her head "thanks, Greg"
"No problem" he smiled and the blond left the room.
Sara went over and sat with the younger man "Are you seriously this ignorant?" she asked with a smirk.
Greg just frowned "What do you mean?"
"Greg, everyone can see that you and Morgan belong together except you guys, she's crazy about you!" Sara exclaimed "the way she was looking at you just then was like a love sick puppy, why can't you see it?"
Greg just shook his head in denial "No, that's crazy, Morgan and I are just friends" he told himself rather than Sara, although he didn't sound convinced.
"Greg, this isn't just some stupid crush that's going to go away" Sara said seriously "Morgan loves you, and I think you know that but you're too scared to admit you love her too"
"She's too good for me!" Greg exclaimed despite himself "I tried to set her up with this guy yesterday…admittedly I wasn't happy about it, actually It kinda hurt…but I only wanted to do what's best for Morgan"
"You are what's best for Morgan" Sara retorted "and you have to realise that. Don't put yourself down, you're a great guy, and don't make the same mistake as me and wait for years in wonder and longing. Cease the day and take a chance"
Greg sighed "I think you're wrong. I don't think Morgan likes me back at all…"
"Well there's only one way to find out, you have to ask her" Sara encouraged.
"Alright" Greg said with a nod "Alright, I will"
Greg hadn't managed to see Morgan for the rest of the shift; but that may have been because he was subconsciously avoiding her. He was scared to ask Morgan how she felt, and then her getting angry because he'd jumped to conclusions. Greg would be devastated if Morgan didn't say she liked him back.
So, after shift Greg finally managed to pluck up the courage to head over to Morgan's apartment. However, he stood outside pacing up and down the hallway nervously for a while before hesitantly knocking on the door.
"Greg?" Morgan sounded surprise when she found the other CSI outside "What are you doing here?"
"I…I have to ask you something" Greg said wringing his hands together "It's kinda important"
"Sure, come in" Morgan said letting Greg inside and then leading him to sit on the sofa.
"Sara said something today that got me thinking…" Greg started; Morgan just looked at him expectantly "You…do you know, like me…like as more than a friend…" he said awkwardly, before taking a deep breath and looking directly into Morgan's eyes "Do you love me?"
Morgan just smiled and launched herself towards Greg, pushing their lips together passionately and running her fingers through his soft hair. Greg was slightly taken aback at first, but he soon found himself relaxing and moving along in motion.
"Does that answer your question?" Morgan asked a little breathlessly as she pulled away.
"Yes" Greg said, just as out of breath "And I'm so glad that was the answer. I love you too"
"Good" Morgan grinned "So we can go back to doing this" she said pushing Greg down on the sofa and then kissing him hungrily once more.
Morgan was so relieved Greg had finally said those three little words to her, and Greg was grateful Sara had opened his eyes. Both youngest CSIs were finally together, and that was never going to change.
So steamy :3
