A/N: Hey guys! Thanks for the awesome reviews :) Now, this story I mentioned doing a while ago, but then jazzmonkey reminded me about it with a request. It's time for Greg to meet Ryan! I thought, since I've done a few stories with Greg and Adam, Greg should meet Ryan too, since he's my favourite Miami character :) Hope you enjoy!

Summary – Ryan Wolfe is wondering the streets of Las Vegas, when a man demands his wallet, and Ryan is helped by a certain Las Vegas CSI. Xover!

Miami Meeting

Ryan Wolfe was wondering the streets of Las Vegas rather aimlessly looking for his hotel. The seminars were over for the day, and the newly announced CSI just wanted some well-earned rest. However, Ryan was not familiar with these streets at all, and he seemed to have stumbled into a rather dodgy neighbourhood.

He was walking past a convenience store and decided to go ask for directions, when a hooded figure appeared from the alley beside him, and pointed a gun at Ryan.

"Hey man, give me your wallet" the figure demanded.

"I don't think so" Ryan replied calmly; he was too tired to this.

"You wanna mess with me?" the man seethed, and Ryan heard the click as he took the safety off the gun.

"Hey, LVPD!" a voice suddenly called from up the street. Both Ryan and the mugger turned to see the figure of a man holding a flashlight, and he had a gun too "Drop your weapon now!" the voice called out again.

The mugger turned to leave, bur Ryan stuck his foot out and tripped the man over. He fell with a huff, dropping the gun, but then scrambled back to his feet and ran off. Ryan would have gone after him, but he didn't have the willpower; they had the gun now at least.

"Are you alright?" the supposed LVPD worker asked Ryan.

"I'm fine, thank you" Ryan replied "Are you a CSI?" he asked, despite it being clear the man was wearing a CSI jacket.

"That's what it says here" the CSI said as he pointed to the pocket.

"Well, I very much doubt that you robbed or killed a CSI, took his jacket, and then came to help me" Ryan pointed out "So, you must be one"

The CSI chuckled "That's very logical thinking" he said as he holstered his gun again. "In fact, I would say that was the thinking of a fellow CSI…"

"Perhaps I am…" Ryan said, still a bit dubious of the strangers. The man did seem kind looking, and he had helped Ryan out, but the Miami CSI had never been quick to be open with people. "Have we met before?" Ryan squinted.

"I don't think so" the CSI replied.

"How did you find me?" Ryan asked.

"I just saw that guy hassling you from the top of the street" the CSI said turning to point to the spot. "Thought you could use a hand"

"Do you always carry a gun around like that?" Ryan asked with a raised eyebrow.

"No, I hate 'em, actually" the CSI replied "First time I've carried one in the field, supervisor reckons it's good practice, but we agreed to disagree"

"What's your name?" Ryan asked curiously.

The CSI laughed "My, you do ask a lot of questions…you must be a CSI or at least a cop"

"CSI Ryan Wolfe" the young man said as he stuck out his hand for the CSI to shake; he seemed a nice enough guy.

"Greg Sanders" the CSI replied as he shook Ryan's hand. "Are you okay?" Greg asked, when he realised Ryan's hand was shaking a little.

"Yeah, my nerves are just a little shot I guess" Ryan said with a lopsided smile.

"Come back to the lab with me" Greg said in a friendly offer "I think I have something which will help you relax"

"Are you offering me drugs?" Ryan asked suspiciously.

Greg laughed "No, just coffee… although, caffeine is classed as a drug, so yes, I guess I am" he smiled.

Ryan smiled back; he liked this guy. "Sure, coffee sounds good"

Ryan couldn't help but be mesmerised as he followed Greg through the entrance of the Las Vegas Crime lab. It was so different to the one back in Miami, but somehow this lab felt a little more…homely. People smiled at Ryan when he walked by, and Greg greeted everyone duly. The Las Vegas CSI lead Ryan into what the younger man assumed was the break room.

"Take a seat" Greg pointed, and Ryan did so. "Where are you from?" Greg asked.

"Miami" Ryan replied "I came over for this conference"

"Oh, Bummer" Greg said as he started making the coffee "I hate those things, I'd rather get my experience first-hand on the field, ya know?"

"Yeah" Ryan said "But I guess I don't mind either way, I'm quite new too it you see. I only became a CSI a few months ago"

"Aah, a fellow rookie" Greg said flashing him a smile "The baby of the bunch too I'm guessing?" Ryan nodded "I haven't been a CSI that long myself" Greg told him "Let me guess, trash runs, severe decomps…"

"…body recovery, yeah" Ryan said with a small smile. It was weird, it felt like he'd finally found someone who understood him.

"Good fun isn't it?" Greg asked with a smirk.

"Delightful" Ryan replied sarcastically and Greg laughed as he brought the coffee over to the table.

"Something tells me you used to be a cop though" Greg said as he sat down too "You have that edge to you"

"I did, I was a patrol officer" Ryan told him "but I knew I wanted to do more, I mean I love science. I majored in chemistry in college and now I'm working on this master's degree in genetics…"

"Wow, that's very impressive" Greg said sincerely "and it's very interesting you should say that"

"Why's that?" Ryan asked curiously as he took another sip of coffee; it was delicious, he might add.

"Before I was a CSI I worked here as a lab tech" Gre told him "but I'm not going to tell you for how long, because I have a feeling if you're doing this degree you're a lot younger than me, which I don't wish to admit" he said with a smile.

Ryan laughed "I though you could have been a tech, you've got that quirky edge" he said with lopsided smile.

"It's the hair, isn't it?" Greg said with a roll of his eyes, and Ryan laughed again. "Anyway, what I'm trying to tell you…" Greg continued "is that I myself have a degree in chemistry from Stanford"

"Wow, you must be a genius" Ryan said admiringly.

"Well, I like to think so" Greg smirked jokingly "and I can totally level with you on the genetics thing, when I worked in the lab I was lead DNA analyst"

"Really?" Ryan asked in surprise; he and Greg sure did seem to have a heck of a lot in common. "I work in the DNA lab too, but I'm mostly based in trace"

"Urgh, well then maybe you can teach our guy a thing or two" Greg said with a roll of his eyes "Hodges is a bit of a…pompous know-it-all"

"Well, I'm afraid I can't say I'm much different" Ryan teased at himself, and Greg just smiled.

"So what's your team like in Miami?" Greg asked.

"Oh, erm…I'm only just getting to know them, really" Ryan said as he looked into his coffee cup a little awkwardly. Greg frowned a little; had he reached a delicate subject? "You see, I joined the team only a few weeks after one of their own was killed so…I guess they haven't been the most open with me, but it's okay, because I guess I can be pretty closed myself"

Greg smiled at him sadly "I'm sorry, it must be really tough going into that situation" he said, and Ryan nodded slowly. "I mean, I was lucky, I've been friends with the guys on my team for years before now but… they're like family. Sure, sometimes they still treat me like a stupid lowly lab rat but… I know they appreciate what I do, how I'm trying, and I know they have my back."

"Yeah" Ryan said in agreement "I mean they're good people, and I trust them…especially Horatio, my boss. He doesn't treat me like a kid like most of the cops I use to work with did"

"Well, that's a good start" Greg told him "The best thing you can do is show these guys what you're made of, let them know you're damn good at what you do, and then they have no reason to treat you like the outsider anymore"

"Yeah, that's sound advice" Ryan said with a small smile, which Greg returned. "So, what was it that made you wanna go from lab tech to CSI?" the young man asked curiously.

"Well, a bunch of things I guess" Greg replied "First of all, there was the explosion in my lab. Sent me right through that wall over there" he said pointing.

Ryan craned his neck to look "Ouch" he said despite himself, and then winced with embarrassment; he didn't want to seem insensitive.

He was relieved when Greg just laughed "Oh yeah, major ouch" the CSI said. "Anyway, it kind of made me realise that I didn't wanna be stuck inside those walls for the rest of my working life. Life's short, and I wanted to get out and do more, ya know?"

"Yeah" Ryan nodded "I just like helping people, really. I mean sure, I was doing that as a cop, but…I dunno, the science makes it more exciting for me. Going behind the scenes to catch criminals and bring justice…it feels pretty good"

"Amen to that" Greg smiled. "You like your coffee?" he asked when he saw Ryan's mug was empty.

"Yes, very much so" Ryan said "Although now I think I'm shaking from a caffeine rush"

Greg laughed lightly "Yep, Blue Hawaiian will do that to you. It's the good stuff though, I'm quite snobbish myself when it comes to coffee."

Ryan smiled "Well, thanks for this, and thank you for helping me out earlier" he said "I'm not sure many people would have"

Greg shrugged "You're welcome, but I was just doing my job, really. Where were you trying to get to, anyway?"

"Oh, this hotel" Ryan said, pulling the address out of his pocket and handing it over to Greg "Do you know it?" he asked hopefully.

"Oh, sure" Greg said nodding "It's on my way home, in fact. I can give you a ride if you want? I wouldn't recommend getting a taxi in sin city at this hour" he warned.

"Erm…" Ryan bit his lip. He'd just met this guy, but yet Greg seemed like one of the nicest and most genuine people Ryan had ever met. "Sure" the Miami CSI said with a small smile "A ride would be awesome, thanks"

Ryan became engrossed in the bright city lights at Greg drove through the streets. Ryan didn't really visit places like Vegas when he was younger, he preferred to stay in and study, he still did really. But as Greg told him a little about living in the Vegas nightlife, Ryan thought it might be okay to loosen up once in a while; maybe he'd do a little gambling before he left…

"Here we are" Greg said as he pulled the car over "It's been awesome talking to you, Ryan" he said with a genuine smile.

"Thanks, you too" Ryan said sincerely. "Listen, I was wondering. With you being a DNA specialist and me doing this degree…would it be okay if I ever had an questions, I could talk to you sometime?" he asked hopefully.

"Sure, that'd be great" Greg said enthusiastically "It'll be nice to be the one dishing out the advice for once" he said as he found a piece of paper and scribbled down his email address.

"Thanks" Ryan said as he took the piece of paper "I'll see you around, yeah?"

"Yeah, maybe I'll come stay at the beach in Miami sometime" Greg said with a smile, which Ryan returned before getting out the car.

Ryan waved Greg off and then turned to the hotel. Maybe he wasn't as alone in the world as he thought he was after all…

Again, I really enjoyed writing this one :) Obviously, I've never written Ryan before, so I hope I captured him well!

Also, the relevance of Ryan asking Greg if they'd met before was just because, well, is it just me or do Johnathan Togo and Eric Szmanda look ridiculously alike XD

I'm loving your prompts!

Please Review :) xx
