A/N: Hey guys! Thank you so much for the reviews :) A while back I wrote a story were Henry and Hodges spread rumours about Greg and Morgan getting together, and quite a few people requested a sequel for it, so here it finally is! I would suggest reading the other story first, it's called 'Rumour Has It'.
Summary – Greg and Morgan respond to the rumours Henry and Hodges have been spreading about them. The CSIs discuss their relationship, and then set out for revenge… Morganders!
Responding to Rumours
Both Greg and Morgan were still fuming as they watched Hodges and Henry flee the building. Individually, they were not the most feared people due to their usual good nature, but together, with their eyes narrowed in annoyance, Morgan's hands on hips and Greg's clenched fist, everyone in the crime lab knew Hodges and Henry had quite likely woken a sleeping dragon.
Greg and Morgan were angry at the two gossiping lab techs firstly because they'd been spreading rumours behind the CSIs backs, but secondly, they could have put any future chance of Greg and Morgan being in a relationship in jeopardy. Neither Greg nor Morgan would particularly feel comfortable going out together knowing that they would become the butt of lab's conversation.
"I am going to kill those two!" Morgan exclaimed as she stomped her foot in annoyance.
"Yeah, well, make sure you save some for me" Greg spoke coldly and folded his arms in a huff.
Morgan sighed in dismay and turned to leave; Greg followed her with worried eyes.
"Are you okay?" Greg asked as he followed Morgan into the break room.
"Yeah, I'm fine" Morgan replied with a weak smile as she plonked down onto the sofa.
Greg could tell she was lying. "Is the rumour you're going out with me really this big of an insult?" he teased trying to make light the situation, although there was a part of him that thought if Morgan said yes, then it would hurt him to no end.
"No, that's really not the problem" Morgan assured him with a genuine smile, and Greg took this as the truth, which made him feel a lot better. "It's just that I thought Hodges was my best friend, and I can't believe he'd talk about me behind my back like that"
"Oh, well you know how he and Henry can be" Greg said as he sat down beside her "They think they're being helpful but they actually have the mental capacities of five year olds" he said with a smirk and Morgan laughed.
"Yeah" the blonde said in agreement "but how did they think spreading rumours about us would be helpful?" she asked.
Greg knew he had to tread delicately with this. Too much assumption of why Hodges and Henry started the rumour could scare Morgan away, and he would never want that, too little would suggest Greg knew a lot more than he was letting on, and Morgan might think he was involved somehow. So instead, Greg bit his bottom lip for a moment as he thought carefully.
"Well…have you mentioned anything to Hodges lately, about us?" he asked curiously.
"No!" Morgan denied maybe a bit more abruptly than she should have. The blonde turned a sudden shade of red and Greg just laughed; he found it very cute. "Well…I mean…" Morgan stuttered, but then pouted knowing that she'd made an idiot of herself, which was the last thing she wanted to do in front of Greg.
"Shame really, I guess I was sort of hoping you had" Greg finally said as he rose from his seat, leaving Morgan startled for a moment – Did Greg like her? It sure sounded that way…but surely Morgan's desire couldn't be true.
Greg had gone to prepare them coffee. He knew saying what he did was a very bold move, but Morgan's reaction to his earlier question strongly made him believe that perhaps they would stand a chance.
"Okay, so, maybe I have mentioned a few things" Morgan finally confessed as Greg brought over the coffee and handed her a cup "But I mean, nothing like us going on secret dates or anything like Henry and Hodges suggested, that would just be ridiculous!" This would be her test, depending on how Greg reacted to that statement would determine her next move.
"Why would it be so ridiculous?" Greg countered "I mean for a start, now that everyone thinks we're going out anyway it wouldn't be a secret, we wouldn't have to worry about telling people"
This wasn't what Morgan had been expecting; she thought Greg would give her a straight yes or no answer; sometimes Morgan forgot how complex Greg could be, although it was one of his many attractions.
"That's true" Morgan replied simply, meaning it was Greg's turn to make the next statement.
"And, I guess there really is only one way to stop a rumour… from spreading" Greg said with a knowing smile.
"What's that?" Morgan asked a little nervously.
She couldn't believe how entranced she was becoming by Greg's every word; it was like a movie or something, telling the story of how they came to be together, and how she desperately wanted a happy ending.
"We make it true" Greg replied as if it were the simplest thing in the world "It can't be a rumour if it's true"
And then Greg froze for a moment as the words he'd just spoken truly sunk in. So much for being subtle, Sanders he berated himself, now he was sure he'd scared Morgan away. She hadn't replied, and was just sat looking at him rather dazed; Greg thought he could literary hear his heart shattering as the seconds went by.
"So, are you saying that… you want to go on a date with me? That you…that you really want to be with me?" Morgan finally brought up the courage to ask, and she waited for an answer with baited breath.
Greg would not take this as no just yet, but he wouldn't take it as a yes either; It seemed all they were doing at the moment was countering each other with cryptic questions and statements. Greg took a deep breath, he was just going to have to right out say it and hope for the best.
"Yes, that is exactly what I'm saying" Greg spoke in what he hoped was a steady manner.
"Good" Morgan said with a small smile "I would like to be with you too"
There was silence for a moment as the words sunk in, and the pair smiled at each other widely before bursting out laughing and embracing each other in a loving hug.
"That was the most awkward get together ever" Greg teased.
"I know" Morgan replied "But I can't believe it all happened because Hodges and Henry started rumours about us" she said as she pulled away "I mean don't get me wrong, I've wanted to be with you for a long time, but…"
"but you didn't think that our final push to be together would ever come from Henry and Hodges, that they'd be the ones to make us realise we were just putting it off for no reason" Greg added in understanding.
"But still, they did talk about us behind our backs, so we shouldn't forgive them for it" Morgan said with a smirk "That would be way too easy for them, and a lot less fun for us."
Greg chuckled and raised his eyebrow "Miss Brody, do I detect an evil plan coming on?" he asked.
"But of course" Morgan replied with a shrug and a tricksters smile.
Greg laughed. "I knew you were the right girl for me" he said and pulled Morgan into a delicate kiss.
After half an hour of walking around the block, Henry and Hodges decided it would be safe enough to return back to the lab. Greg and Morgan should have cooled down by now, if not they should have at least finished their shifts and gone home.
"Oh no, here they come!" Henry whispered with anxiety as he and Hodges walked through the entrance. Greg and Morgan were walking out together hand in hand.
"Hey guys, we just wanted to say thank you" Morgan said with a sweet smile.
"Yeah, we're just heading out for our first date" Greg beamed "You guys really pointed us in the right direction, and we're so grateful"
"It was erm…it was no problem" Hodges said narrowing his eyes suspiciously.
"Catch you guys later!" Morgan said happily and the pair walked out the lab.
"That was weird…" Henry said "They seemed so mad with us earlier…"
"Maybe they just talked things out" Hodges tried to justify "Or, maybe we should prepare for the worst…"
Henry gulped at the thought, and the two lab techs continued further into the lab. As they walked by, people would suddenly smirk at them, try and hide a laugh or a look of shock, or even start whispering to people nearby. Hodges and Henry shared a confused look with each other before entering the break room where Sara and Nick were talking about something, the conversation stopped as soon as the lab techs entered the room, and Sara and Nick shared a look.
"What's going on?" Hodges asked cautiously.
"Yeah, people have been giving us really funny looks…" Henry said nervously.
"You really don't know?" Nick asked surprised; the lab techs shook their heads "Well it's just that Greg and Morgan have been telling us about the…you know…" he said waving his hand as a prompt.
"We really don't" Hodges said shaking his head.
"About the dreams" Sara almost whispered "That you and Henry have been having…those kind of dreams about each other"
Hodges eyes grew wide and Henry's jaw nearly hit the floor "W-what?" the DNA tech stammered.
"Hey, we're not going to judge" Nick said raising his hands in defence "Actually, we all kind of suspected…" he teased.
"That the dumbest thing I've ever heard! You actually believe them!?" Hodges exclaimed.
"Greg and Morgan aren't normally ones to lie…" Sara smirked as she took a sip of coffee.
"Well it's not true!" Henry exclaimed "They made it up to get us back for…for something else…" he trialled off.
"I'm going to kill them" Hodges said bluntly "I'm seriously going to kill them!" and with that he stormed out the room, Henry following, and Nick and Sara were left laughing.
Hodges was already on the phone to Morgan when Henry caught up with him.
"Exactly how childish are you two!?" the Trace tech exclaimed; Henry could hear Morgan laughing.
"You start childish rumours, you get childish payback" Morgan replied.
"But now people think that we…we dream about…Urgh I don't even want to think about it" Hodges said placing his hand over his face in dismay.
Morgan giggled, but then she spoke seriously "Not nice when your friends go behind your backs, is it?"
"No, it's not" Hodges replied with gritted teeth.
"Apologise to us, and I'll tell everyone what we said was a lie" Morgan bargained.
"Alright, we're sorry" Hodges replied dully.
Morgan scoffed "Mean it, or I'll start telling people that you two…"
Henry snatched the phone off Hodges "Morgan, Hodges and I are really sorry that we started spreading rumours about you and Greg, tell him we're sorry too, and that it will never happen again"
Morgan pretended to consider this for a moment "Alright, we forgive you; we'll tell everyone it was a joke…"
"Thank you" Henry replied, and hung up before shoving the phone into Hodges' chest "You're welcome" he added sarcastically.
"Hey, I could have got her to back down without apologising" Hodges replied pompously, Henry just rolled his eyes and started heading to his lab "Henry, don't walk away from me!" Hodges called and went jogging after him.
Meanwhile at Morgan's apartment, she and Greg were laughing after Morgan got off the phone with Henry.
"That'll teach them" Greg said as he pulled Morgan into a tight hug.
"We make quite the dangerous pair" Morgan commented as she ran a hand up and down Greg's chest.
"Yep, they can try and stop us…" Greg said with a smirk.
"But we're going to be together for a long time now" Morgan said with a loving smile, which Greg returned, and then the new couple engaged in a soft yet passionate kiss.
Haha I find Henry and Hodges so fun to write as a double act ;) And obviously, I love Morganders ^_^ I hope you enjoyed!
I also hope you had an awesome Christmas! :)
