A/N: Hey guys! Thank you very much for your kind reviews; I'll hopefully be hitting 600 soon! :) This story is for another Guest who asked for Morgan having the crush on Greg and him being oblivious. I hope you enjoy!
Summary – Greg is oblivious to Morgan's feeling for him, but will that change when Morgan ends up being injured at a crime scene. Morganders!
Realisation
"Morgan, you can take your boyfriend with you on this case" DB said as he handed the younger CSI a slip.
"My Boyfriend?" Morgan repeated bemused.
"Greg, duh" Finn chimed in teasingly.
"What!? Greg's not my boyfriend" Morgan denied with a nervous giggle and her cheeks flushed red. Russell and Finn shared a knowing smile.
"I'm sorry, I just assumed you would be together by now" Russell said.
"No" Morgan replied sounding a little disappointed "I…I don't think he's really interested"
Morgan was sure that she'd been trying to give Greg clear hints that she liked him as more of a friend, but for a CSI, he didn't at all seem to be aware of this. Morgan just felt the urge to smile whenever he was around; Greg made her feel safe, he could always cheer her up, and he was always there to listen. Good looks and intellect were just added bonuses. Greg didn't seem to realise how serious Morgan was being when she told him he was a total catch, and she thought her 'best yet to come' would have been Greg. Apparently he didn't feel the same.
"Oh, I don't know about that" Finn said with a smirk "Have you ever tried talking to him about how you feel?"
Morgan frowned "No, do you think I should? It's just; if Greg doesn't feel the same I don't want things to be awkward between us"
"I think you'll always regret it if you don't find out" Russell inputted.
Morgan simply gave a small smile and a nod before leaving the room. If even Russell could see how much she liked Greg, it must be really obvious. But then why could everyone see it but Greg. Maybe he was just in denial, or maybe he didn't feel the same at all.
Morgan found Greg with Nick chatting in the locker room. Nick was sat on the bench tying his shoelaces and Greg was…was…
"Er, hey Morgan" Greg said sheepishly as he noticed the blonde just stood in the doorway staring at him.
Nick looked at Greg who was changing his shirt and then looked back to Morgan with a smirk. "You're so obvious" he mumbled.
"What?" Greg asked.
"Nothing, I'm leaving, or else things are gunna get too weird" Nick said walking to the door and leaving Greg feeling awfully confused "Close your mouth" the Texan whispered to Morgan as he walked by.
Morgan immediately shut her mouth and gulped with embarrassment. Greg's shirt was hanging open, exposing his lean body and toned muscles. Morgan couldn't deny she had not wondered what Greg's physique was like, and at that moment her longing only increased tenfold.
"Morgan?" Greg asked with a confused frown. "Are you having a stroke or something?" he asked with a light laugh and started to button his shirt.
"No" Morgan finally blurted out "Sorry, I just…remembered something I have to do" she said, hoping her cheeks weren't burning too brightly with embarrassment.
"What's up?" Greg asked as he finished with the buttons and straightened out his collar.
"Oh, Russell's given me a case, I thought maybe you'd like to help" Morgan finally remembered why she was there.
"Sure, love to" Greg said with an eager smile and it made Morgan's heartbeat faster.
"Good, good" Morgan said smiling back "my turn to drive, okay?"
"Sure, not like I was intending on getting there in once piece anyway" Greg joked.
Morgan rolled her eyes "Haha, very funny" she said dryly, but then added seriously "Don't worry, I'll take good care of you"
Greg smiled at her "Good, then let's go"
The CSIs entered the burgled house to find cabinets ransacked, tables turned over, and windows smashed.
"We're going to be here all night" Greg said with a groan.
"Really don't like the thought of spending that long with me, huh?" Morgan joked, although she really hoped it not to be true. She'd spend all day with Greg if she could.
"Of course not" Greg said with a smile, and Morgan's heart fluttered again "So, where do you want to start?" he asked.
"Well, how about I take the kitchen, and you take the lounge?" Morgan suggested.
"Sure thing, boss" Greg said with a small salute and headed to his designated room. Morgan smiled; she loved how Greg was able to keep his humour with such a tedious night ahead of them.
Morgan went to the kitchen and sighed dejectedly as she looked at the mess. Placing her kit on the floor, she pulled out her camera and got to work.
Half an hour later and Morgan was beginning to lose hope. After taking the photos, she'd found nothing else of use and just hoped that Greg was doing better. Greg always had the tendency to appear at just the right moment with some big crack in the case and Morgan never failed to be amazed; Greg was just amazing.
As Morgan was knelt on the floor dusting for some prints, she didn't notice the figure beginning to creep through the back door. There was a sudden creak on the floorboards, and Morgan whipped around to see the dark figure heading towards her. The CSI froze with fear for a moment, her eyes growing wide. Greg! She had to warn Greg.
"Greg, run!" Morgan called as she went for her gun, but the stranger got there first. He shoved Morgan harshly against the floor; she smacked her head hard and almost immediately fell unconscious.
After hearing Morgan shout, Greg immediately dropped everything and ran to help her. When he arrived at the kitchen he was both terrified and enraged at the sight of the huge man standing over Morgan's limp form. The man didn't notice Greg and bent down the take Morgan's gun, but Greg soon jumped into action and tackled the man to the ground.
"Get the hell off me!" the man yelled as he struggled with Greg, but the CSI found his strength as he feared for Morgan's life.
"What the hell did you do to her!?" Greg yelled as he suddenly felt nothing but anger is he punched the man across his jaw. "What did you do!?" he demanded.
"I just pushed her, man" the guy replied, clearly shaken by Greg's explosive reaction.
The fury soon seethed through Greg, and with one last strong punch to the head, he knocked the man unconscious. He got up and flipped the guy over, cuffing his hands, and then hurried over to Morgan.
"Morgan? Morgan can you hear me?" Greg asked desperately as his anger was suddenly replaced with fear. The back of Morgan's head was bleeding and Greg feared she'd fallen into a coma or something.
Greg quickly took off his jacket and brought Morgan's head to rest in his lap, using his jacket to try and stop the bleeding. He then pulled out his phone and called for backup and an ambulance. Greg's hands were shaking as he stuffed the phone back in his pocket and looked down at Morgan's closed eyes. He'd like to believe she was sleeping – Morgan would look angelic in her sleep – but she was tarnished by the evil blood, and Greg hoped never to see her in so much pain again.
"Please wake up, please wake up" Greg muttered with tears beginning to well in his eyes. Morgan didn't deserve this, and all she'd thought about was trying to warn him. She was one of the most caring and selfless people Greg knew…and he couldn't bear to lose her.
"Please, Morgan, I need you" Greg began to cry as he placed his forehead on Morgan's "You're my best friend…" Maybe more "and I need you. I need your smile, I need your voice…I-I need you to wake up" he sobbed; why couldn't he have been there to save her?
Eventually, backup and medics arrived. It took two cops to finally drag Greg away from Morgan, but when they got ready to load her into the ambulance, Greg was allowed to go too. He sat stroking his thumb against the back of Morgan's hand. He wanted her to know he was there for her, and he always would be.
Greg was getting really frustrated. It had been half an hour since they arrived at the hospital and Morgan was taken away, but he was yet to hear any news. He was pacing nervously, a shaky fist to his mouth, and trying not to think the worst.
"Hey" a soft voice suddenly said and Greg turned to see Sara "How are you?" she asked, rubbing Greg's arm comfortingly.
"Not too good" Greg replied quietly "Why wasn't I there, Sara, why wasn't I there to protect her?" he really wanted an answer.
"Greg, you couldn't have known" Sara assured him "And by the look of that guy's face when he was brought to holding, I think you gave him what he deserved in the end"
Greg smirked and shook his head "I just… I've never felt such anger like it…when I saw Morgan laying there…my heart stopped, I was so scared. Then I saw that guy, and I saw red, nothing else mattered to me but helping Morgan"
"And you know why? Sara said with a soft smile. Greg shook his head "It's because you have feelings too"
"Too?" Greg said with a frown.
"Yes, just as Morgan has feeling for you" Sara claimed.
Greg looked at her shocked "What?"
"Greg, you can't be that naïve" Sara teased "Everyone knows how Morgan feels about you but you. The way her face lights up when she gets a case with you, the way she laughs at you, the way she talks about you. She loves you, Greg"
Greg was trying to take it all in; how could he have been so oblivious? He'd always known deep down that he'd had feelings for Morgan too, but he'd always been too nervous to express them, to except their relationship could ever become true. But to now know Morgan felt the same…well that changed things.
"I have to tell her" Greg blurted out "I-I have to tell her I love her too"
"Well, now you can" another voice chimed in and the CSIs turned to see Morgan's doctor. "Miss Brody is awake, and she's asking for Greg. She's still a bit tired form the morphine, but Morgan should be fine to go home tomorrow"
"That's great news, thank you, doctor" Sara said.
Greg looked at Sara who gave him a nod of encouragement, before he went dashing off to Morgan's room.
The CSI slowed as he reached the door, and nervously gripped the handle before cautiously stepping inside. Morgan was sat propped on some pillows in the bed, and a small smile spread across her face when Greg entered the room – just his presence alone made her instantly feel a bit better.
"Hey, I wanted to make sure you were, okay" Morgan said as Greg walked over and sat on the bed beside her "I didn't know what happened to you after…"
"I'm fine" Greg said with a soft smile and squeezing Morgan's hand "Besides; I should be asking you that question"
"Better, now you're here" Morgan replied honestly.
"Morgan, I…" Greg bowed his head in shame "I'm so sorry I wasn't there…."
"Don't okay; it's not your fault" Morgan said firmly as she placed a hand on the side of Greg's face to make him look at her "besides, you did rescue me, or else I wouldn't be sat awake here right now"
And it was then, as Greg looked into Morgan's crystal eyes that he realised just how ignorant he had been to his own feelings as well as Morgan's.
"I love you" he said in almost a whisper.
Morgan smiled; those were the three words she'd been hoping Greg would one day utter to her.
"I love you too" she replied, and the couple shared a delicate kiss.
Haha shirtless Greg XD sorry I couldn't resist!
I have to say it's quite strange to have Greg as the conscious one in the ambulance for once XD a nice change though ;) And I do like writing these stories where he is the one in the dark.
Please Review :) xx
