It was cool and dark as the two wanderers traveled through the cave. It was hard to see but so far, they didn't hear any ants.
"I can't see a blasted thing." said Murdoc. "Why not just turn on our pip-boys lights then?" asked 2D. "Oh, right." said Murdoc. It took a moment, but then the place was lite up.
2D looked around the place, but still saw no ants or the nest. "2D, keep your guard up and gun out, I don't want to die just yet." said Murdoc. The bluenette agreed and stayed close to his lover, gun at the ready.
As Murdoc moved on, 2D couldn't help but wander what nest guards were. "Murdoc, are nest guards worse then normal giant ants?" asked 2D. "Fuck ya, these guys are bigger and tougher to kill, plus now they breath fucking fire." grumbled Murdoc.
"So, the bigger ants are made the guards then?" asked 2D. "Ya, just like any ant nest." said Murdoc. The teen was a bit amazed. 'I really missed out while in the vault.' thought 2D.
They soon came to a slight drop in the ground when they heard it. The scurrying of ant legs.
"Gun ready?" asked Murdoc. "Ever since we got in the cave." said 2D. "Good boy." said Murdoc. 2D smiled as they walked on more.
They looked down to see an ant, and it was HUGE! "That's a nest guard, it's twice the size of a normal ant." hissed 2D. "You think that's bad, just imagine the queen." said Murdoc. 2D shuttered at the thought, he didn't want to see the ant queen.
"Alright, let's kill it." said Murdoc.
Before the bluenette could react, the Satanist had run down to the ant, shooting it. The bullets made it cry out in pain, but the ant breathed fire at the man. "These are a lot tougher than the other ants too." said 2D. "I know, come help me." said Murdoc, shooting off another round.
2D jumped down and shot at the nest guard's head, but it still didn't kill the ant. The ant opened it's mouth and 2D only just managed to roll away from the flames. "Stu!" called Murdoc. "I'm fine, but how do we kill it?" asked 2D.
Murdoc growled but then looked up. Above the nest guard was a stalactite, a perfectly sharp one.
"Shoot up!" ordered Murdoc. 2D did as he was told and shot up at the ceiling. 'Why though?' wondered 2D.
Just then, there was a loud cracking noising and the stalactite fell right through the ants head, killing it. 2D became disgusted by the sight as Murdoc reloaded his gun. "Well, one ant down, three to go." said Murdoc. "Why three?" asked 2D.
Murdoc rolled his eyes as he lifted up a piece of paper. "Because I stole a piece of that bastard's research to see what we'd be dealing with." said Murdoc. "Oh, okay then." said 2D. Murdoc just chuckled and kissed him.
"I think I may just be a bad influence on you luv if your okay with me stealing." said Murdoc. "Considering who you stole it from and what he's done, You'd be seen as a saint." joked 2D. "Oh fuck no, I ain't no saint." spat Murdoc. 2D just laughed and kissed his lover's cheek. "I know Mudsy, I know." giggled 2D.
The two continued on, climbing over a few rocks that stood in there way. "Hey Murdoc, what are we going to do about the queen ant?" asked 2D. "I'd like to kill it to spit the bastard, but considering how big it could be, we best try to avoid it." said Murdoc.
2D agreed when he stopped dead.
He looked down a small tunnel, hearing an ant. "One of the guards are down here." said 2D. "No, it's down this way." said Murdoc. 2D listened and it made his blood run cold.
The noises were coming from both tunnels!
"Muds, two are coming." warned 2D. Murdoc grabbed the back of the bluenette's shirt and pulled him back as fire came shooting out. Two nest guards came from the tunnels and the two wanderers paled.
One was bad enough, now they had to deal with TWO!
"What should we do?" asked 2D. "For now...RUN!" ordered Murdoc. The fire came just as 2D and Murdoc ran down the tunnel for cover.
"Got any other bright ideas?" asked 2D, peeking over the rock they hid behind. "No smartass, why don't YOU think of something." spat Murdoc. 2D glared when he went to look for a better weapon in his bag. There was no better guns...but there WERE frag grenades!
"Will these work?" asked 2D. "Maybe, I have an idea." said Murdoc. He took two and looked up to see the nest guards scurrying right for them.
"When they open there mouths, I'll chuck em in." said Murdoc. "Then what?" asked 2D. "Simple, we let the fire do the rest." said Murdoc. The Satanist waited, luckily he didn't have to wait long. The moment the ants started opening their mouths, Murdoc chucked the frag grenades.
It got stick in the ants mouths as the fire started shooting out. Murdoc quickly pulled 2D down as the grenades exploded in an even bigger explosion.
Guts and ant parts fell down and 2D got grossed out when an ant eye landed on his lap. "Ha, ha, looks like he's got his eye on you." teased Murdoc. 2D just flicked it off and towards Murdoc.
The teen then looked towards the older man seriously. "The ants didn't get you, right?" asked 2D. "Eh, course not, those ants can't burn me, I'm already on fire." said Murdoc. 2D couldn't help but laugh. "Ya Mudsy, you're real hot." laughed 2D.
The bluenette's laughing was caught off by cool lips. "And don't you forget it." winked Murdoc. 2D could only blush as they walked back down the tunnel.
It was getting darker in the tunnel and they still saw no sign of the nest. "Murdoc, how much farther?" asked 2D. "Well, ant nests are just a bunch of tunnels, it'll take a while." said Murdoc. 2D could only groan, he wanted to get as far away from these ants as possible. 'I never want to see another ant again.' thought 2D.
Just as he thought this, the wall next to him made a loud noise, startling him. Murdoc looked to see the wall was made up of stalactites and stalagmites, like a barred window. "What the fuck?!" yelled 2D. Murdoc turned his pip-boy so that the light would shine on it.
Before them - what they could see - was a giant ant face about the size of a boulder. "Well, we found the queen." said Murdoc. "Son of a bitch, THAT'S THE QUEEN, IT'S BIGGER THAN THAT SCHOOL IN SPRINGVALE!" yelled 2D. Murdoc just covered his mouth, shushing him.
"Stay calm, the last nest guard is probably standing guard at the entrance, we stay quiet, the queen will continue to look here while we kill the last guard." whispered Murdoc. 2D nodded and they slowly walked away as the queen rams into the bars again.
"Why didn't she just set us on fire?" asked 2D. "Dumbass, only the eggs he infected got that, she only laid them." said Murdoc. "Ohh, well good, no one needs a colossal fire breathing ant." sighed 2D. Murdoc just snorted as they moved on more.
They saw a light before them and an opening. Just as Murdoc had suspected, the last nest guard was at the entrance.
"So, what?" asked 2D. "Simple, shoot it." said Murdoc. He opens fire and 2D shakes his head. Didn't they try this already with the first nest guard?
The ant flinched from the attack but came running for them. The bluenette lifted his gun and fired. The only difference was that 2D destroyed it's antenna. The ant screeched loudly, moving around crazy.
"Wow, you made it frenzy." said Murdoc, The teen nodded and watched as the nest guard turned around and went into the nest. The two shared a look and moved towards the entrance.
The nest guard was now attacking the queen!
The queen roared and easily bit the nest guard in half. "Show-off, we take forever to kill one guard, she does it in a bite." pouted 2D. "Now isn't the time for that!" snapped Murdoc. "Why?" asked 2D. Another screech and 2D saw the queen looking at them.
"Cause we just got fucking spotted." said Murdoc. The queen came at them, raising her wings high. "Now what?!" yelled 2D. "We kill her or we get killed!" yelled Murdoc. The two dove out of the way of her jaws, being forced into the nest.
"Murdoc, what if we get her to eat the rest of the frag grenades?" asked 2D. "We'd have to shot em, but it might work." said Murdoc. 2D tossed his bag to Murdoc, who dug out all the frag grenades, six of em. "This should hopefully be enough." said Murdoc.
The queen screeched at them and Murdoc chucked two. The queen took them and Murdoc rolled away. 2D watched as Murdoc kept throwing the rest of the grenades into the queen's mouth when she opened it. The last grenade went in and the Satanist turned to the bluenette.
"Shoot!" yelled Murdoc.
2D loaded his gun and fired at the queen's mouth. Murdoc dove for cover as all six grenades exploded. The queen's head blew off but the rest of her body remained in tact.
Murdoc got up and ran over to 2D, who was laying on the ground. "You okay?" asked Murdoc, helping him up. "Ya, I never want to do this again, I hate ants." groaned 2D. "Ya, same." sighed Murdoc.
They looked at the smoking queen body as 2D grabbed his bag. "Well, we should tell him the nest guards are dead...as well as the queen." said 2D. "Ya, before I kill him." said Murdoc.
"But, what about the other ants?" asked 2D. "Luv, I'm great at hacking, I can hack this computer and frenzy those ants myself." said Murdoc. The teen nodded as he watched Murdoc sit at the computer and start typing away. 2D sat next to him, reading his nature book again.
After a while, Murdoc tapped his head and the bluenette looked at him. "It's done, those ants will be dead once we leave here." said Murdoc. "That's good, so, what about Dr. Lesko?" asked 2D. "He's my problem, Stu, so I'll handle him my way." said Murdoc.
2D didn't question it and the two left the nest, heading back to Dr. Lesko's lab.
A/N: Well, 2D and Murdoc took care of Grayditch's pest problem. If only there were people still around to thank them. Oh well, now that their Grayditch/ant adventure is over, where will they go next? Stay tuned and plz review.
