2D whistled a small tune as he waited for Murdoc. They'd gotten back to Dr. Lesko and told him what happened in the nest, including how they killed the queen. The scientist got mad and after that, Murdoc had told the bluenette to wait for him outside.

Now, it's been five minutes and the Satanist still hasn't come out yet.

He'd just finished whistling an old pre-war song he heard on the radio when the door opened. 2D looked to see Murdoc covered in blood with a small smile on his face.

"Feel better?" asked 2D. "Fuck ya I do, the bastard had it coming." said Murdoc. The bluenette smiled and wiped the blood away to kiss him. "Well, Grayditch is ant free now." said 2D.

"Ya, so what should we do next, go home or wander the Wastes?" asked Murdoc. "Wander, the Wasteland is calling us." said 2D happily. "Heh, alright, wandering it is." said Murdoc. The two walked away from the door and the teen looked around.

"Should we look to see where these tunnels go?" asked 2D. "Fuck no." snapped Murdoc. 2D flinched at the tone, what'd he say?

"Sorry luv, but we're not following these tunnels to the end." said Murdoc. "How come?" asked 2D. "Because these tunnels lead to the D.C. area, and I don't want you there." said Murdoc. The bluenette blinked, the D.C. area, where all the fighting was happening.

"Wait, then we should go, that's where I need to be." said 2D. "No, you need to bring peace, not go to a bloody war zone." spat Murdoc. "Won't I have to go there anyway?" asked 2D. "Eventually, but that time is not now!" yelled Murdoc.

2D looked away silently and the older man groaned. "We'll go to the D.C. area in time, but not now, you still need to understand things more." said Murdoc. "Like what?" asked 2D. "What exactly your role as peace-bringer is, you can't just jump into random battles, you'll get yourself killed doing that." said Murdoc. The teen had to admit, it was a smart move.

"So, how exactly do I figure it out?" asked 2D. "By exploring the Wastes and gaining more experience, the answer will come to you soon." said Murdoc. 2D nodded as Murdoc kissed his forehead.

"Let's get out of here and move on to the nest destination." said Murdoc. The bluenette agreed and the two left headed out of the Marigold Station.

*~* GORILLAZ *~*

2D let out a happy breathe as they finally left Marigold Station to return to the Wasteland. The bluenette looked around, the sun had long since set, casting dark shadows over the cool, silent Wastes.

Murdoc came out behind him and looked around as well. "I can't see anything, it's too dark." said 2D. "Ya I know, but we'll be fine." said Murdoc. 2D looked at him to shake his head.

"No, I think it'd be best if we head back to Grayditch for the night, set off in the morning where we can see." said 2D. "Nah, I can see perfectly, we can still keep going." said Murdoc. There was a break in the Satanist's voice so it was easy for 2D to hear it.

Murdoc didn't want to return to Grayditch.

"Murdoc, we both can't see in the dark and if we stay out here, who knows what might find and kill us." said 2D. The Satanist knew his lover was right, but he still wanted to leave the area. "Look, we're not tired, so let's just keep moving." said Murdoc.

He went to move on but the teen stopped him. It now made sense to the teen why Murdoc wanted to leave so badly.

"Murdoc, I know you're still upset about Sasha, but it's no excuse to go wandering into the Wastes at night and getting ourselves killed." said 2D. Murdoc only shook his head. "I don't want to go back." said Murdoc. "Don't let your grief stop you, would your Mom want you to stop just because she's gone?" asked 2D. The older man sighed, he knew the bluenette was right, they had to go back for shelter.

"Alright, let's go." said Murdoc. 2D nodded and took the Satanist's hand as they walked back to Grayditch.

The town was now empty, save for the bodies and dead ants. Grayditch was now truly a ghost town. "Where should we go?" asked 2D. "Over here, this was my old home." said Murdoc.

The bluenette looked to see a tall building across from Bryan's old house. 2D stared a bit more till he saw Murdoc had gone inside.

Murdoc looked around the house, seeing no damage from the ants, they never got inside. As Murdoc looked, memories hit him.

*~* FLASHBACK *~*

Eight year old Murdoc looked around the town as people went about their day. "Sasha, where are we?" asked Murdoc. He looked up at the beautiful woman as she smiled happily to the boy. "This is Grayditch, a nice little town here in the Capitol Wasteland." said Sasha.

Murdoc blinked at her as she got on a knee and patted her son's head. "It's a big difference from Point Lookout, a lot friendlier too." said Sasha. The child nodded, he wanted to forget all about Point Lookout.

"I like it so far." said Murdoc. Sasha smiled and lead her son into the house. It was bright and clean and the child took in the sight. The mansion his father owned was rundown, smelly, and dirty.

'I wonder if Hannibal is doing well.' thought Murdoc.

He sat on the couch as Sasha took a seat next to him. She brushed her black hair back and hugged her son. "You know, if you want, you could call me Mom." said Sasha.

Murdoc looked at her and smiled. "Okay, you are my Step-Mom, but I see you as my actually Mom." said Murdoc. Sasha smiled and hugged her son happily. "Oh my sweet child." whispered Sasha.

Murdoc was confused on that, but he returned the hug anyway.

'Now I know why she said that and did the things she did, why didn't I realize she was my Mom sooner.' thought Murdoc.

He sighed as he put his hand on the couch. He'd spent the next ten years here, happily living with her and never having to live in fear or pain. They'd listened to the radio together, Sasha reading a book while Murdoc played with his toys. How she'd always want to read to him or take him somewhere. Also the way she took all his uneasiness and fear and made it disappear.

She was where he felt save and loved in this world.

Then he remembered when he when he talked about leaving Grayditch.

*~* FLASHBACK *~*

Sasha looked to her son as he sat across from her. "You're leaving Grayditch?" asked Sasha. "I am, I love Emma and I want to start a new life with her, I'm sixteen so I'm old enough to explore the Wastes with her." said Murdoc.

Sasha stared at her son and Murdoc feared she'd tell him he couldn't.

Then, Sasha smiled and hugged her son. "Is this what you truly want Murdoc?" asked Sasha. "It is, Emma and I want to explore the Wastes together, to start a new life together." said Murdoc.

Sasha smiled and nodded. "Then do what your heart tells you, don't let anyone anything stop you or keep you from being who you are, and please do be safe, I don't want to lose my child." said Sasha. Murdoc chuckled and hugged her tightly. "Thanks Mom." said Murdoc.

"Of course, and please do make sure to visit, I want to hear all about your and Emma's adventures." said Sasha. "I will." said Murdoc.

"Good, I don't want to lose my child again." whispered Sasha. Murdoc blinked at that, what did she mean? Murdoc shrugged it off and hugged his Mom again.

"I promise." said Murdoc.

*~* FLASHBACK ends *~*

Rage filled Murdoc and he threw his fist down, smashing the table. "WHY DIDN'T I FUCKING KEEP THAT PROMISE?!" yelled Murdoc. After he and Emma left, he didn't see his Mom again till after Springvale burned and Emma was killed.

He had promised to visit, he'd promised to not let anything or anyone stop him or change who he is. He'd broken all his promises to her, and he never told her he was sorry.

He fell to his knees, trying hard to control himself. He didn't want to cry, he hated crying. He'd only cried when he lived with his Dad and after his Mom died. He didn't want to cry again.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and saw 2D. The teen sat with the older man and hugged him. "It'll be okay Mudsy, it'll get better in time." said 2D softly. Murdoc held onto 2D, smiling a bit.

2D had lost both his parents to the Vault, yet he still continued on. Things would get better.

"Stuart, promise me you'll never leave me." said Murdoc. "I'll promise if you promise me." said 2D. The Satanist chuckled and kissed him. "Promise." said Murdoc.

Their lips met again and 2D moaned softly, being pulled into his lover more. "Murdoc?" asked 2D. "Please luv, I need this." said Murdoc, kissing his neck.

2D understood and let the Satanist carry him upstairs. They got into a bedroom where Murdoc drops the bluenette onto the bed. 2D backed up a bit, giving Murdoc some room.

The older man quickly disposed of their clothing, melting his lips with the teen's, who moaned blissfully. 2D broke the kiss to groan as he felt fingers enter him. Murdoc kissed at his neck as the fingers moved around. "Murdoc." gasped 2D in pleasure.

He'd only smirked as he removed the fingers to line up his member. 2D cried out in pleasure as Murdoc entered him. "You'll never leave me, right Stuart?" asked Murdoc breathlessly. 2D smiled at him to kiss him happily.

"I promise." said 2D.
