2D watched the landscape as a breeze blew lightly over him. It was a pretty nice day today, the weather was nice and there was no smell on the wind.
He and Murdoc had left Grayditch that morning but stopped by Sasha's grave to pay their last respects. It'd be a long time before Murdoc felt ready to come back to Grayditch to see his Mom's grave. Course by now they should be on another adventure, but the bluenette knew Murdoc needed some time to himself.
'It's almost sun high.' thought 2D.
He yawned when he heard footsteps and looked to see Murdoc walking over. "Sorry for the wait, let's go." said Murdoc. The teen nodded and looked back at the grave.
It was a pile of rocks with a stick poking out. Impaled on the stick was 2D's Captain's hat. They did that so they knew this was the right grave.
The two walked on and another breeze blew by. "It's pretty nice today." said 2D. "Ya, which is weird, it's always hot or smells bad, this is the first time that the Wasteland has ever been nice." said Murdoc. 2D climbed up a rock and held his hand out for his lover.
"Think it's a weird omen?" asked 2D. "Like what, 'watch out for flowers'?" said Murdoc. He took the teen's hand and they sat on the rock.
"See anything?" asked Murdoc. "Just Wasteland, nothing yet." said 2D. Murdoc nods and they jump down to walk on more.
"Think we'll run into any Raiders or Talons?" asked 2D. "Not Raiders, there's no shelter anywhere close to us, as for Talons, again, they're unpredictable." said Murdoc. The bluenette nodded when he saw movement to his left.
He looked to see it was a small lake...with a few Mirelurks.
And luck loves them so much that the Mirelurks were running at them.
"Fuck." cursed 2D. He pulled out his gun as Murdoc grabbed his. 2D starts shooting, but the Mirelurks kept running. "Damn those shells." spat Murdoc. 2D backs up a bit when he trips.
The Mirelurk doesn't waist a second and is over the teen. 2D freaks out and raises the gun. He shot the Mirelurk right in the face, causing it to screech and fall back dead. 2D blinks before looking to the Satanist. "Shoot them in the face, there's no shell protecting it." said 2D.
"That's easily said then done, look how small the faces are!" yelled Murdoc. The second Mirelurk jumped at Murdoc, who quickly turned and shot it's face. It fell and Murdoc stared at it. "Don't stand to close." said Murdoc.
2D just chuckled a bit when the last Mirelurk got behind the teen. It roared, scaring 2D who rapidly turned, getting his gun stuck in it's face.
It's silent for a bit as 2D tries pulling the gun out. "What are you doing?" asked Murdoc. "My gun is stuck in the Mirelurk's face." said 2D, pulling harder. "For fuck's sake, just shot it." said Murdoc. The bluenette pauses then pulls the trigger, killing and pushing the Mirelurk back.
"That's fucked up." said 2D. "Ya well, this is a fucked up world." said Murdoc. The teen agreed and he looked to see Murdoc lighting up a cigarette.
"Toss me the pack." said 2D. Murdoc did and the teen quickly lite up. They walked on, smoking and scanning the area for anymore trouble.
"I see why people avoid Mirelurks." said 2D. "Ya, tough bastards to kill." said Murdoc.
2D smiled when he looked to his right to stop. He could see the tops of old buildings, which meant it was a city ruin.
"Murdoc, over here." said 2D. The older man looked to smile when he saw it. "Now we may face some Raiders, let's go." said Murdoc. They walked to the city ruins and it was empty, definitely the place for Raiders to hide out in.
"What is this place?" asked 2D. "I believe these are the Fairfax Ruins, wait, they are, these ruins are where some scavengers from Grayditch got some of their things." said Murdoc. 2D nodded and looked at the buildings.
Suddenly, there's a gunshot and 2D's cheek is grazed. He hisses in pain and Murdoc shots at a Raider hanging out a window. "You okay?" asked Murdoc. "Ya, just a graze." said 2D, wiping his cheek.
"Keep low, other Raiders no doubt heard the gun shots." said Murdoc. The bluenette nodded and the two crouched down, slowly making there was through the city. It was silent as Murdoc peeked behind a corner.
"I don't see anything." said Murdoc. "Maybe they're hiding." whispered 2D. "No shit, they may just be setting up a trap for us to walk right into." said Murdoc.
He looked to the teen to give a nod. "We're gonna move, stay low." said Murdoc. 2D understood and stayed close to Murdoc. Once he saw his lover nod, the two ran into the open to hear gun shots.
They ducked behind a care and 2D panted hard. "Ya, they were waiting for us." said 2D. Murdoc cocked his gun and got up to shot but the Raiders easily hid behind a truck.
"Murdoc, look what I found." said 2D, showing two frag grenades. "That's good, but we can't see them, they're behind the truck." said Murdoc. "Well, does the truck still have an engine?" asked 2D.
The Satanist peeked to see that the truck the Raiders were hiding behind still had it. "Ya." said Murdoc. "Then, throw the grenades at the truck, the whole truck will explode." said 2D. Murdoc grins evilly and he grabs the two.
He easily chucks them at the truck's engine. In seconds, the whole truck explodes, taking the Raiders with it.
2D and Murdoc got out from their hiding spot to see one Raider had lived. He was missing his legs and parts of his torso but he still reached for the gun. Murdoc put the raider out of his misery.
"Okay, should we continue on?" asked 2D. "Ya, but first let's take their shit." said Murdoc. So, they got a few more frag grenades, and some ammo. "There's not much ammo on these guys." said 2D. "I know, dumb fucks." said Murdoc.
They walked on, passed the burning truck for Murdoc to nod. "I can see a hill ahead of us, we're almost out of here." said Murdoc. He walked on but 2D found he couldn't move.
He had a bad feeling, like they shouldn't go up the hill. "Murdoc, can we take a different route?" asked 2D. "Huh, why?" asked Murdoc. "Just a bad feeling." said 2D. "Look luv, it's fine, nothing bad is going to happen." said Murdoc.
"Still." said 2D.
Murdoc walked over to the bluenette and kissed him softly, running his hands through blue locks. "It'll be alright, nothing can get passed us." said Murdoc. 'But what if something does?' thought 2D.
Murdoc walks on and the teen sighs to follow his Satanic lover. He was still having doubts.
2D saw an over turned car with a box next to it and goes to it. Inside are two grenades, but these ones looked strange. "Murdoc, what are these?" asked 2D. Murdoc walked over to look and nodded. "Pulse grenades, those work very well against robots." said Murdoc.
The bluenette nodded, he hasn't seen any bad robots yet. Still, nice to have something to be prepared. 2D bags the pulse grenades and the two continue on.
The hill is a bit steep but Murdoc helps 2D climb up. "Come on, were almost out of the ruins." said Murdoc. They reached the top when Murdoc jumps 2D, forcing him down. 2D flinches as he sees a laser fly by.
The couple then sit up to see before them a small squad of people in power armor. 2D immediately recognizes them by the armor's rusty color: the Enclave!
"If you know what's good for you, wanderers, don't move." said a soldier. The bluenette shakes a bit as Murdoc wraps an arm protectively around the teen. "The fuck do you want?" asked Murdoc. "Calm yourself wastelander, we're not here to harm you." said a second soldier.
Then, a soldier with a different armor set up stepped forward, Murdoc guessed he was in charge.
"My soldiers are correct, we aren't here to hurt you, we just want him." said the head soldier, pointing at 2D. The teen gasped as the Satanist tightened his hold on 2D. "And if I refuse to hand him over?" asked Murdoc. "Then we will have no choice but to kill you and take the peace-bringer by force." said the head soldier.
The others cocked their guns and 2D panicked more. "Murdoc." whimpered 2D. "You're not taking Stuart away from me, you dumbass motherfuckers!" snarled Murdoc. The head soldier got annoyed and got his gun ready.
"Hand him over or else we WILL use violence." said the head soldier. "Hah, that's good, I just love violence." mocked Murdoc. The head soldier gave the command and they opened fired.
Murdoc got 2D away from the blasts and safely behind a large boulder. Taking out their own guns, 2D and Murdoc returned fire.
A Enclave soldier went down but the others kept on attacking. Bits of rock few as the Enclave continued their assault. 2D kept fire his guns till fear filled him.
His guns were now just clicking, his ammo had run out!
The bluenette put the empty guns away and looked for more ammo. He couldn't throw any grenades, he and Murdoc were to close. There were also no more guns in his bag.
"Murdoc, I'm out." said 2D. "Shit." cursed Murdoc. He pulled back and reloaded his 10 mm sub. guns when he froze.
He was now down to his last two ammo clips.
'Dammit, we're out numbered and out-guned.' thought Murdoc. He looked to 2D who watched the Enclave continue shooting at them. 'I have to do something, otherwise I'm going to get killed and Stuart is going to get caught.' thought Murdoc.
But what could they do, they were low on ammo and low on options. Murdoc looked down the steep hill to see a large, dead bush. However, the bush was so together, that he couldn't see the ground through it.
An idea hit and it pained the Satanist a bit. 'No, this is for Stuart.' thought Murdoc. He was out of options, there was only one thing to do now.
Murdoc grabbed 2D's shoulder and pulled him close. "Stuart, do you trust me?" asked Murdoc. The teen blinked at him and nodded. "Of course, Mudsy, with my life." said 2D.
The older man smiled and kissed his lover deeply. "I love you." said Murdoc. Something was wrong, and it frightened the teen.
"Murdoc, what are you doing?" asked 2D. "Saving your life." said Murdoc.
A large piece of rock flew by and Murdoc took a deep breathe. "2D, the Enclave can't take you, I won't allow them, so you need to get away." said Murdoc.
"No, I'm not leaving." said 2D. "You have to." said Murdoc. "No, no, I don't want to lose you." cried 2D. "Listen, these bastards can't kill me, I'll be fine." said Murdoc.
Tears rolled down the bluenette's face as Murdoc kissed him again. "Stuart, no matter what happens, no matter what they do, I promise you, everything will be alright." said Murdoc. "But-" started 2D. "We will meet again." said Murdoc sadly.
Before 2D could move, Murdoc shoved the teen down the hill. 2D landed in the bush and hit his head on the ground. His vision blurred a bit as black dots started appearing.
"We will meet again."
'Murdoc.' thought 2D. With that last thought, every went black.
