Chapter 58

*AlPOV*

I wanted to get out, the only problem was that I didn't know how.

I hadn't seen my sister since her little melt down and that was just fine by me. She really scared me this time, and believe me when I say that I had seen her in terrible moods before. I had returned to my room and tried to get in contact with James, but he was being extremely elusive. That and the fact that he seemingly had blocked my number.

I guess if I couldn't get to James, I'd have to settle for contacting Edward.

Mind made up, I stepped out of my room and stumbled into someone.

I took a step back and looked up into the face of my uncle.

"Uncle Aro!" I said totally surprised to see him.

Yes, we were family but my family was completely dysfunctional and fucking weird when it came down to it.

I barely knew the man, and what little I knew wasn't much to go on. All I knew is that he was someone very, very powerful. Truth be told, I hadn't seen him since I was thirteen or fourteen. I recognized him from his pictures.

"Hello Alec," he said, his voice coming out like a hiss. He sounded like a snake. I shuddered inwardly. "How are you young man?"

I suddenly felt self-conscious, "I'm f-fine." I said, cursing the quiver in my voice.

"Wonderful. How is your sister?" he continued moving away to start walking down the hall. It was obvious that he expected me to follow as his speech never faltered.

"I've been hearing some rather disturbing things."

What had he heard?

"What have you heard?" I asked.

He stopped as we reached the sitting room and turned and pierced me with a steely glare, I about fucking pissed my pants then.

"Don't play games Alec, it's not very becoming of a Volturi male," my uncle said. "Now come and clarify these stories like a good ragazzo."

So instead of going to find Edward I found myself telling my uncle the details of the last year or so.

*EmPOV*

My blood ran cold at the sound of that voice.

What the hell was she doing here?

I don't think I can handle seeing her at the moment.

I could feel anger rising up inside of me, and I felt a feeling of intense despair.

Well luckily for me, Edward didn't seem to be in the least bit intimidated by her as she was still in the foyer.

Then I heard him curse, his tone a lot louder than his previous one.

What was wrong?

Did she do something to him?

I stood up and was about to make my way to them when I heard other voices.

"Hey Eddie, how are you holding up?" Rosalie's voice sounded clearly.

Oh shit.

"Emmett? Where are you?" Alice's tiny frame stepped around the corner, a watery smile on her lips.

"Hey," she said rushing over to wrap me in a bone crushing hug.

For someone so tiny she sure was strong.

"Hey," I said finally finding my voice.

"Any news?" she asked, finally releasing me.

I noticed movement behind her from the corner of my eye and I took a deep breath and turned to face them fully. My eyes immediately meeting hers.

Edward gave me an apologetic shrug, "I tried to keep her at bay but then the little one," he pointed to Alice, "burst in and well..." he trailed off.

I gave him a nod, "It's ok Ed, really."

Alice moved closer to where she and Rosalie were standing, her tiny hand outstretched in greeting.

"Forgive me for being rude it's just that things are a bit crazy right now, I'm Alice."

She smiled and shook Alice's hand but only nodded in response.

Rosalie introduced herself and got the same reaction.

She rose a perfectly manicured brow at me from across the room. I didn't know how to reply to that, so I just lowered my gaze momentarily.

Alice was still talking, "So are you a friend of Emmett's?"

I really wished she would just shut up.

I saw her brows raise slowly, a smirk on her face showing her amusement at the situation.

Alice had a perturbed look on her face and her eyes were now flitting from my face and back to her.

Finally she spoke, her voice just as seductive and dangerous as I remembered it.

"It's a pleasure to meet you Alice and Rosalie, and Alice, to answer your question; yes, Emmett and I are friends. Old friends."

Alice smiled, "Oh that's nice."

"In fact we were such good friends, he was going to marry me," she said.

You could hear a pin drop in the room, no one was speaking, and she had a smile spread across her face.

"Oh, I forgot," she said with a brighter smile, if that were even possible. "I'm Thea."

*BPOV*

I had a plan.

I hoped the plan worked.

It had to work.

There had been a lot of activity earlier, but things seemed to have died down now. I didn't mind that, in fact it was perfect for what I had in mind. I had convinced the doctor in my last visit that having plants in the room would be good for me, and I had a penchant for potted plants. Within an hour of that visit I had at least four potted plants delivered to my room.

Thank God I was obviously dealing with thick skulled morons.

I figured out from listening to the men outside of the door when the person in charge was actually around. Their attitudes were completely different. When the person was there, I could hear them answering in clipped and professional tones; when they weren't there, the guards would relax and I could hear them talking and laughing. I also believed that whoever was in charge, didn't actually stay here. The times when the guards were relaxed were exceptionally lengthy.

I also realized that at certain times during the night, there was only one guard on duty.

And God help me to be right about that right now.

Alright, it was time to get this show on the road.

Here goes nothing.

I took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

"Is anyone there?" I said, panting heavily after each word. "I think something's wrong with the baby!" I said hoarsely, crying out as though I were in pain.

I could hear keys jingling and I stepped back and grabbed the pot I had emptied earlier.

"Hurry!" I cried out again for effect.

The door opened and I didn't even wait, I just brought the pot I was holding over my head down with all my might. I almost cried in pure elation when I heard it connect with his skull and he went down like a cold mackerel.

"I'm sorry," I whispered as I stooped down to drag his body inside of the room. When I was finished I opened the door cautiously and was so relieved that I didn't see anyone else. I stepped out of the door and closed it behind me, maybe by the time someone came along, they'd just think the guard went on a bathroom break and I'd be long gone.

I made it out of the room I was in and realized that I was in some sort of pent house and from what I could see from the all glass windows, I was really high up. I crept along the hall, pressed to the wall, although with a bulging stomach in front of me, it was rather pointless. I had only a few more feet before I reached the elevator, which was my only way out, when I heard voices. I grabbed the knob of the door nearest to me. I closed the door and was immediately plunged into darkness.

I listened with an ear pressed against the door as the voices passed and on and faded away. I took a few deep breaths to calm my nerves. That's when I noticed the phone.

There is a God up there and right now he loves me.

I lunged for the phone and dialed as fast as my fingers could move.

While I waited impatiently for the line to be answered, light shining from outside filtered in and illuminated a photo on the desk.

What the...

It couldn't be.

I grabbed the photo frame and looked at the picture closer.

What the fuck was going on?

A/N: Well...well...well, so Emmett's mystery girl is none other than his cheat of an ex-fiancee, Thea.

Also, yes Aro has been brought into the fold muhahahah. And just who is in the picture at the end of the chapter?
