Chapter 60

*RPOV*

This bitch had to be fucking kidding me.

Did she really think I was gonna sit here and let her pretend she had us under her control?

Bitch please.

"Emmett," I said turning to look at Emmett who had frozen.

"Shut up," the bitch snarled.

I rose a brow at her and promptly addressed Emmett again, "What is this whore's deal?"

The bitch growled and made a step toward me, the gun shaking in her unsteady hand.

Jesus, if you were going to threaten to kill someone at least be fucking confident about it.

"Rose," Alice said in a warning tone.

"Alice," I replied, mimicking her tone.

"It's not smart to incite the person wielding a gun at you," Alice said ending in a smile that more resembled a grimace.

"I'm not scared of that bitch," I said flicking my gaze over to said bitch.

"Thea?" this from Emmett.

Good boy Emmett, distract her for me.

"Why are you doing this?" Emmett asked and just like I predicted, the stupid slut turned away from Alice and myself.

"You know why!" she screeched at Emmett.

He shook his head, "No I don't."

I looked toward the hallway, wondering when Edward would return, trying to see if I'm going to be able to give him sort of warning.

I turned my attention back to Emmett and the crazy, who was waving the gun around as she screamed obscenities at Emmett.

"Excuse me," I said waving my hand to draw their attention.

"What the fuck do you want?" she snapped turning back to face me.

I stood up and started walking towards her, already bored of this. I had things to do today and she was keeping me from them. Plus, Jake had a romantic evening planned, and even though every evening with him was romantic, when he planned it, it was spectacular.

"I'm bored," I said dryly.

"I'm gonna shoot your ass," she said stalking forward and closing the distance between us.

"Oh I wish a bitch would try," I said, my voice flat.

And then she raised her hand, and I drew back and punched the dumb fucker in the face.

I was so sick of this, I was not a victim, never had been. And I refused to let this stupid girl think she was going to make me one.

The idiot dropped to the floor clutching her face, "Oh my God!" she cried. "What have you done to my face?"

"Believe me there's much more where that came from," I said making a move as if I were going to kick her, laughing as she flinched.

"Ally find Edward," I said, "And Emmett, call the police."

"No one's calling anyone," a voice from behind us said.

I turned to find the skank who had caused a minor scene at the party Emmett held for Bella a few months back.

"What, are they manufacturing cunts by the dozen today?" I said throwing my hand into the air.

-TA-

*EdPOV*

My hands were shaking as I fought to keep the car steady, my mind was racing.

I had to get to Bella.

If she was where I thought she was, this was very bad.

A face flashed in my brain, causing me to lose concentration and swerve the car, nearly crashing into an oncoming car. I slammed on the brakes as the other car's wheels screeched as it to came to a halt.

I took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down as I heard the car reversing towards me.

"Edward?" the driver said.

I turned my head to see James looking at me with a worried expression.

"Are you ok?" he said pulling the car into the bank and getting out.

"I know where Bella is," I said.

"You do?" he cried. "Is Emmett already there, did you call the police?"

He was rambling, I really didn't have time for this, no matter how cute he was.

"Just follow me," I said.

He nodded dumbly and raced back to his car.

I was a bit calmer now since I knew I would have back up of sorts. I drove like a bat out of hell as I raced to save my best friend. Luckily for us, it wasn't a busy night and the road was mostly clear. I pulled up to the curb of the large building and got out of the car. I didn't have to look around for James, he had caught up to me.

"Is this gonna be dangerous?" he asked as we made our way to the revolving doors at the entrance.

"Probably," I replied tersely.

"Ok," he said and we went through the doors.

A security guard approached us, thankfully I recognized him.

"Mr. Masen?" the old man asked, his facial expression showing astonishment.

"Hi Frank," I said. "Is Mr. Volturi in?"

"Well, yes," Frank said.

"Good," I said heading to the elevator. "Oh and Frank?"

"Yes sir?" he asked.

"Don't announce me."

The elevator reached and James and I stepped inside.

"So you know the person who has Bella?" he asked quietly.

I gritted my teeth, not really wanting to get into how I knew the asshole who had Bella.

"Somewhat," I replied.

"Hmm," he said with a nod.

The rest of the elevator ride was quiet, I was lost in my thoughts and James was probably trying to make sense of everything.

The elevator slid open and I stepped into the place I never thought I would see again. The rush of fear that washed over me was enough to cause my knees to buckle.

James' strong arms grabbed me and put me upright again, "Woah there, you ok?"

I shook my head, "No, but this isn't about me."

He didn't say anything and I felt my legs under me again, I pulled away from him and started down the hall.

"You seem to know the place well," James said.

"Unfortunately I do," I said.

We made our way around the corner and walked right into Alec.

"Al?"

"Alec?"

Needless to say I was stunned.

Stunned to find Alec here and then doubly stunned that James knew him.

Alec's eyes widened as he took in the sight of the two of us.

"W-what are you doing here?" he asked, his voice shaking.

"I could ask you the same thing?" James said, his voice sharp and accusatory.

"How do you know him?" I asked James.

"This is Al...my ex. Wait a minute, did you call him Alec? As in your ex?" James replied.

I nodded, bewildered by what I was hearing.

An already weird series of events just got weirder.

"Where's Bella?" James asked.

Alec stammered and hem and hawed about the question and I was tired of it all. We really didn't have the time to waste with him. I shoved past him and walked towards Aro's office.

I opened the door to find Bella clutching her stomach, face wrung painfully and Aro standing there staring unblinkingly at her.

"Bella!" I cried rushing to her side.

"Oh thank God," she panted. "I've never been happier to see you."

"Are you ok? Did he hurt you?"

I was frantic.

"Did you touch her you bastard?" I snarled at Aro.

The offensive man blinked slowly, a small smile coming to his lips, "Edward! How lovely of you to join us."

"Did you fucking hurt her?" I asked again.

Bella was biting her lip and clutching my arm painfully.

"I did not harm Ms. Swan," Aro said haughtily. "It would seem that she's gone into labor."

What?

"Bella, oh God we have to get you to the hospital!" I cried putting my arms under her to lift her.

"James, call the ambulance," I shouted out the door. "Bella's in labor."

James appeared at the door two minutes later, phone attached to his ear.

"Where's Alec?" I asked.

"Gone," he replied before turning his attention to the operator on the phone.

I gave him the address and started making my way to the door with Bella.

"It was nice seeing you Edward," Aro said from behind me, funny, I had forgotten about him.

"I can't wait to get reacquainted with you," he continued.

I turned back to him, Bella breathing heavy, "Eddie, he's not worth it," she said.

"No B, I've got something to say to him," I said taking a deep breath. "Something I should've said a long time ago."

She nodded and lay her head on my shoulder, calm for the moment as the contraction had past.

I turned to Aro then, speaking clearly and in a clipped tone, "You will never have the pleasure of knowing me. You never did. You are an old, depraved motherfucker who preys on innocent young men. You are weak!" I spat. "I was afraid of you, I hated myself, let you have power over me. I thought I had done something wrong, but you know what? It wasn't me at all, it was all you!"

He stood there, the man who robbed me of my youth, and of my capability to love freely, face contorted as if I were hurting him. I really hoped I was, after all the pain he caused me.

"You are nothing!" and then I turned on my heel and walked out of there, feeling a thousand pounds lighter.

I was finally free.

*EmPOV*

Jesus, this was getting worse by the minute.

What the hell was Jane doing here now?

"Jane?" I asked.

"Hello Emmett," the tiny female said.

"What's going on?" I asked more confused than ever.

"Seems that someone is trying to swindle me out of our deal," Jane said snidely.

"What deal?" I asked.

"Would someone just tell me what the fuck is going on here!" Rosalie shouted, annoyance clear in her voice.

"Thea promised me that she would help me get you and made me believe that she had some beef going on with Bella," Jane said with a humorless laugh. "Turns out she wanted you for herself."

"Wait a minute," I said going putting things together in my head. "You kidnapped Bella?"

"Yes," Jane snarled. "I have your precious Bella!"

Never before in my life had I ever wanted to strike a woman, but this, oh this was different. I wanted to wring her fucking neck until she stopped breathing.

"Are you fucking crazy!" I shouted causing the women to jump.

"She's pregnant!" I continued making my way to Jane, who for the first time in my recollection, looked fearful.

"Nobody cares about that bitch!" Thea said.

I heard a loud crack, and realized that Rose must've smacked her again.

"You're mine," Jane said lowering her gun.

"Never!" Thea cried rushing at Jane.

We all watched as the two women tussled with each other, too shocked to do anything else. Alice, who had remained quiet all this time was shouting at the top of her lungs, it was like Mariah Carey, without the melodious music accompanying her.

None of us moved to part the women, both still wielding loaded firearms.

Hair was being pulled and curses were being thrown around.

Rosalie had gotten her phone and was calling 911, when we heard the sound of two bullets being discharged.

Everything froze as the two women in the middle of the room stopped moving, horror riddled on their faces. Both of them stepped back holding their chests, the tell tale spot of crimson staining their shirts.

No one moved or said anything except Rosalie, who was now talking slowly and still stammering to the person on the phone.

Both women fell to the floor, their bodies going in to shock.

The wounds didn't look fatal, but what did I know.

Suddenly my phone, which I had completely forgotten was in my back pocket, started buzzing, nearly giving me a fucking heart attack.

I pulled it out, and after seeing Edward's number flashing across the screen, answered quickly.

"Edward? Where are you? There's some serious shit going on over here," I said.

He was rambling on the other end, I could hardly make out what he was saying.

"Buddy slow down," I said trying to understand him.

Finally I heard him, "I found Bella, she's fine. We're headed to the hospital, she's in labor Emmett."

She's in labor Emmett.

Oh fuck!

Bella was having the baby. Now!

OhmyGod, ohmyGod.

"I'm on my way!" I hung up and started running towards the door.

"Emmett!" Alice shouted. "What's going on?"

I never broke stride, "Bella's having my baby!"

"What? Go! We'll handle this," Alice said.

I didn't wait any longer, but before I closed the door, I heard Rosalie cursing, "Getting those blood stains out of this carpet is gonna be a bitch."

-TA-

*BPOV*

I was finally free of that place.

The paramedics were very nice, kept me calm.

Breathe. You'll be there soon.

Such reassurance.

I grimaced as another bolt of pain hit me.

Come on baby, don't do mummy like this, I thought rubbing my stomach and breathing as I was instructed.

Edward and James were both crowded into the ambulance with me, both refusing to leave my side. After a quick explanation, the paramedics finally gave in. Either way, he wouldn't have had much of a choice.

I was so proud of Edward, facing that monster.

Oh, I still wanted my shot at the fucker.

He needed physical pain to combat the emotional one he was no doubt feeling after Edward's little speech.

Edward was on the phone, probably with Emmett.

Emmett couldn't miss this.

Our baby was finally going to be here.

Our little jelly-bean.

"Did you hear him?" I asked as the pain ebbed to a dull throb.

"He's on his way," Edward said coming to kneel next to me.

"Thank you," I said giving him a small smile.

"You're gonna be a mama," he said.

Wow. I was gonna be a mana.

"Yeah, I guess I am."

*JPOV*

I was so happy Bella was fine.

This could've turned out much worse.

She was now on her way to the hospital to have her baby. She'd be fine, I knew that.

I looked over at Edward, who had come back to join me.

This entire thing had me beyond puzzled.

I wanted to know what was going on.

What did Al...well Alec have to do with anything?

How did Edward know the creepy ass man the police had arrested back at the penthouse?

"Hey," I said tapping his hand which was on his shaking knee.

He looked around, startled, and as though he was somewhere else.

"You ok?" he must've been tired of me asking that question by now.

"Yeah," he offered with a shaky smile.

"Ok," I nodded.

His feet continued bouncing, and his hands were shaking.

I'd find out later, but now he needed comfort.

I reached out and grabbed his hand, lacing our fingers together.

His eyes flew to mine and I smiled at him.

And despite everything that happened tonight, this moment, us holding hands.

A gesture so small and yet so significant, made me feel, well alive.
