For those who do not know, opposition means, like, against something.
Zoey's P.O.V.
I didn't hear the door open, but I did hear a gasp and then Cameron say, "Zoey!"
I broke away from Mal and turned to them. My face must have been red. In the doorway stood Dawn and Cameron.
"Cameron! Dawn! I- uh..." I turned to look at Mal, who was staring at my best friend's with a bored look.
"Zoey! I can't believe you!" Cameron stomped over to me. "Have you not realized that he's the enemy who has kept your boyfriend, and my best friend, trapped in his own mind for weeks now?"
"No, Cameron!" Dawn interrupted before I said anything. "Mal isn't up to anything."
Mal frowned, but didn't protest.
"Mal truly likes her." Dawn said.
"Oh yeah? And how does Zoey feel about him? No, wait. What are her feelings for Mike now? Who, I'm pretty sure, is still her boyfriend!" Cameron threw his hands in the air.
Dawn looked at me and didn't reply.
"Frankly, I find this hilarious." Mal rolled his eyes. "I was just talking to Zoey of how her real friends would support her no matter what."
"How am I supposed to support her? I'm not going to betray my real best fr-"
The smack stilled everything. Slowly, Cameron's hand went up to his cheek to feel where I had hit him. All I could do was stare down at my hand.
"Fine, Zoey." Cameron left the room without another word. His cheek was turning pink.
The three of us were quiet for a moment before Dawn said, "Why don't I leave you guys here? So you can sort things out."
"No! I'm, uh," I turned to Mal. "I'll see you later, OK?"
Mal hesitated, but nodded. I left with Dawn in silence.
"How did you guys know where I was?" I asked to make things less uncomfortable.
"Cameron noticed you and Mal were gone by the end of the episode, so he asked me to help find you. He tried explaining everything he knew, but it was all really against what's happened... You're dreams, why haven't you told me about them?" Dawn asked, suddenly worried.
"They're not exactly dreams... I feel like I'm going coo-coo." I spun a finger next to my ear and Dawn laughed. "They scare me and they always have to do with Mal. I always get affection from him and he normally stabs me with a knife as well."
"It sounds like you really do like him, which I know you do, but you know he's dangerous. You don't want him to hurt you, emotionally or physically." Dawn nodded.
"But how do I stop it?" I stopped walking and faced her.
"I may be wrong, considering this isn't something I can see in your aura, but Mal might be your antidote. When you know you really like him, when you want affection from him, that might be when you have these little day-dreams. So you need to be with him, Zoey. Despite what Cameron says, I want you to know I'll support you no matter what." Dawn assured me, placing her hand on my arm.
"What about Mike? What's going to happen to him?" I asked her.
"His part as a personality is getting weaker. He's also depressed. I have a feeling, that if he doesn't get better, he might disappear entirely." Dawn admitted.
"Oh my god." I held my hands up to my face. "I can't do that!"
"It's OK!" Dawn hugged me. "You need to let him down, gently of course. So that even if he does go, at least he'll know you're happy and that his enemy isn't just keeping him away."
I didn't know how I felt about any of that. "It's too complicated, Dawn!" I ran my fingers through my hair, stopping at the tug of my ponytails.
"Shh. We don't want all the boys to know, right?" Dawn started walking again, holding my wrist. "Let's go to my room. Eva won't want to be in the middle of a sob-fest." She smiled, trying to cheer me up.
I nodded numbly and continued to follow her. People stared as we walked through the main hallway, but they looked away soon after. I heard someone follow us inside, but I didn't care to look.
Dawn motioned for me to go inside her room. I could tell the difference between her side of the room and Eva's. Dawn's half was pretty plain besides maybe a little decoration. Eva's was decked out with sports equipment and I spotted multiple IPods and MP3 players.
The door was stopped by someone else and in walked Courtney.
"What's all of this sad stuff about?" She said as soon as the door closed. "And don't think I didn't see you break down in the middle of that episode. Gwen did too."
"I've been having problems... with Mal." I admitted.
"I thought I told you to stay away from him! Those guys are bad news, and then you'll be bad news too." Courtney sighed and sat down on the opposite side that Dawn was sitting by me.
"It's not her fault that she feels what she feels." Dawn said quietly.
Courtney stared at Dawn. "I know! I told her this because I care about her. I don't want her to end up like me, with a terrible future because I got a rush by doing things that broke the rules. And it was Duncan who introduced me to it."
"I don't lo-like him because I like doing things that break the rules. I find him... endearing." I decided on that word.
Dawn snorted, but didn't say anything.
"Endearing? This is the guy who got your, what I'm assuming and hoping is your, ex-boyfriend in Juvie!" Courtney put her hands on her hips. "Tell me exactly why you fell for him."
I looked at my feet and didn't reply.
Dawn lightly touched my shoulder. "I'd like to know too."
I thought it over and began, "Well, for one thing, I like his smile. It's a little crazy and dark, but that just makes it all the cuter, though I doubt he'd like to be called cute. I like how his hair is soft, it's actually softer than Mike's. And how he'll tell the truth when he finds it useful, but when he does, it's the cold, hard truth. I know he lied, and cheated, and stole during, probably most of his life, but it was always for a goal. His goal last time was a million dollars, I like to know that to him, I'm worth a million dollars. I'm something he thinks is worth getting in trouble for."
"But most of that stuff you said, with the million dollars and all, you found out after he told you he liked you, which I'm assuming that you at least figured out. How did you know before that?" Courtney asked.
"I guess life is just life." I replied with a fortune cookie message I actually did read once.
"Zoey, I have to tell you before I feel guilty. Mal's goal wasn't always to win you over because you loved you. It was originally to torment Mike." Dawn shrunk down closer to her pillow.
I lowered my eyes. "I figured that's why it all started out. Either to get me mad, or Mike."
We were silent for a while, then the door opened with a slam.
Eva walked in the room and glared at us. "What are you all doing in here?"
"Just chatting. We were just about to leave." Dawn smiled. She stood up and motioned for us to follow her. We complied.
"I suppose it's just time for me to go now." Courtney shrugged.
"Talk to Gwen!" Dawn called after her. She turned to me. "They're both feeling bad about what happened. I think it's best they both became friends again."
I laughed at my friend, who frowned in return. I normally would have stopped after just a giggle, but it felt so good to just laugh, that I kept laughing. No worrying or sadness or confusion was required for laughter, and that made me feel good. Shortly, Dawn joined in with me and we probably looked like a couple of weirdos, but we didn't care. I hope that people were feeling happy that I was feeling better.
It was fairly late at night when I was walking around. I couldn't sleep.
I heard voices coming from somewhere else, I couldn't help but lean against the kitchen door and listen in on what they were saying.
"Listen up, Jar Head. What I told you before was a mistake." I heard Jo say. What was she doing up this late? I glanced at the clock to see it was around midnight. Other than a few people, most were actually asleep by now.
"Oh sure." Brick replied. I cringed, knowing his confidence was a mistake. "But how many times have you told me and taken it back?"
What were they talking about? She had told him and taken what back several times?
"Well, it's not like you'll ever reply right! All you ever do is stand there and stutter until someone comes to the rescue! I don't need some wimp to-" She was cut off and I heard a muffled sound. I pressed my ear against the door trying to hear what happened.
That was a mistake. The door flew open and I stumbled into the shining white room.
Jo had jumped a mile away from Brick. Her face was red and so was Brick's, but Brick seemed like he just won a race against Jo.
"Pasty!" Jo yelled her nickname for me. "Were you eavesdropping on us?"
I stood there, still unsure about what just happened between them. "What happened between you and Brick...?"
"Don't you say a word, G.I. Joke!" Jo said when he opened his mouth. Brick shrugged and let her continue. "Nothing happened that is any of your business. And even if you did know, you wouldn't have any proof, so it wouldn't matter."
I glanced up at the video camera, but she, luckily, didn't notice. "Alright, I just came to get a glass of water. I'll see you later." I quickly grabbed a plastic cup and filled it with some water from the sink before leaving.
"Nice alibi."
I almost spit out my water when I heard his voice.
"Mal! Don't scare me like that!" I whisper-shouted, not really wanting Jo or Brick to hear me talking to Mal.
He chuckled. "Sorry, but you promised to see me later, so here I am."
"What were you doing there anyway?" I took another sip form my water.
"Looking for you." He shrugged.
"How did you know I'd be up?"
"I didn't." He stared at me through the dark. Gosh, it was really dark, how did I get to the kitchen before without stumbling over everything?
"Alright, well, what do you need now?" I stared down at the hardly visible glass in my hands. Were there no windows in the main hallway?
"I can't just see you?" He asked me.
I was taken aback. "Well, yeah. I mean... sorry."
He chuckled and then we were silent for a moment.
"We should probably leave, Jo and Brick will be coming out of the kitchen sometime soon." I bit my lip and stared at the floor.
Mal raised my chin and kissed me. It was like all of those romance scenes, except this was real.
Jo's P.O.V.
Pasty was eavesdropping on us! Who knows what she heard! And I didn't get the chance to get rid of that smirk off of Jar Head's face because she was there.
I glanced at him, remembering he was still there. "Oh, don't you say a word." I pointed my finger at him.
Brick held up his hand's in mock surrender.
"I thought I told you that what I said was a mistake." I crossed my arms. "You didn't have to go and-"
"Shhh!" He shushed me, leaning his head against the kitchen door.
"What?" I walked over there and leaned my ear against the door. "Who's she talking to?"
"Shh." Brick shushed me again.
"Is Pasty talking to Mal?" I took out my phone, ready to strike in case she did happen to have blackmail material. If she did, I could easily strike back.
"What are you planning to do?" Captain Whiz asked me.
"None of your beeswax..." I trailed off, not even bothering with a nickname.
I shoved Brick out of the way, who tried to protest. I opened the door quickly and snapped a picture towards their general direction. Of course, I had to use flash, so they might have saw.
"Hey, Mal is the one with the one eye right?" I asked, grinning at the picture.
Zoey's P.O.V.
I woke up from another nightmare. I've been having them ever since we came here, but they're just like my day-mares, so I've gotten use to them.
"Zanna-" Lindsay started to say.
"It's Zoey."
"It is? Why didn't you tell me?" Lindsay frowned down at me, she was already dressed and ready for the day.
"I did..."
Lindsay ignored me and continued to speak, "Tomorrow is going to be the first aftershow! Aren't you excited?"
I rolled over in my bed, burying my head back into my pillow, though not intending to go back to sleep. I decided to make this a "Noah Moment." "I'm trembling with joy."
"Do you want me to help you pick what you want to wear? I have the greatest outfit for you! Oh, I wonder if Tyler will be there!" Lindsay babbled.
I rolled my eyes and covered my face with the blanket. "Uh-huh."
"Wait here! I think I left the dress in Beth and Bridgette's room." Lindsay ran off.
'Bridgette...' Her name reminded me of something, but I couldn't remember. "The party!" I snapped up. "When is she hosting it?"
I jumped out of bed and quickly got ready for the day, not caring if Lindsay walked in at any moment. It was really like changing in the locker rooms at gym.
With everything that was happening, I once again forgot about something important. I've probably forgotten about a lot more thing than I thought, but I didn't care at the moment.
I ran out of the room and passed Lindsay, who didn't even notice me. At some point, Dawn joined me at Bridgette's door.
Beth greeted us with a smile.
"Hey, Beth!" Dawn gave a little wave.
"Can we talk to Bridgette?" I asked, peering over her shoulder, which wasn't too hard.
"Oh, um, sure." Beth shrugged, moving aside. "But she's a little stressed, so don't bother her too much. I'm going to go find Lindsay."
We nodded and Beth left us Bridgette. Bridgette was laying on her stomach, drawing a little map-blueprint of the stage.
"Hey, guys!" She smiled and sat up cross-legged. "What do you need?"
"I wanted to know when the party was, and if you need any help." I took a step forward, shrugging a little.
"Oh, thanks, but I don't think there's much you need to do until the day of the party. Oh, and it's going to be on the third aftershow, so in a couple of weeks. They have one every week right?" Bridgette half asked herself and half asked us. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure."
"Do we need anything special for the party?" Dawn asked just the question on my mind.
"I don't think so, but wear something nice, but you know how Geoff likes to party, so not anything too nice. Just something different than what you normally wear." Bridgette gestured at Dawn's green sweater and purple leggings and my red shirt and khaki pants.
"No problem. We'll see you later." Dawn waved and I followed her out the door.
"Thanks for coming with, but you didn't have to." I smiled.
"I know." Dawn and I continued to walk to the breakfast hall. "But I think I have a theory, and I needed to tell you."
"Alright."
"What if all of the personalities have a purpose? I mean, before Mike came on Total Drama, he was depressed because everyone would exclude him. I don't think he was in any danger of disappearing then, because he was in control. Mike's purpose is to be host, and mostly be in control. And Chester is really annoyed and irritated about everything, but he's not in control, so his purpose is to assume all the frustration of the body. Svetlana is just the feminine part, there's not much to it except to act girly. Vito is... cool and smooth. He just needs anything as an ego boost, which is pretty easy when ever he talks to Mike... Anyway, Manitoba is daring, as long as he gets the chance to explore, he'd be fine. So, staying in the mind isn't any kind of problem for him because there's plenty to discover." Dawn finished up.
"What about Mal?" I found myself asking.
"Well, it's kind of obvious, but Mal's the one who isn't daring because he likes discovering, but likes stirring up trouble. As long as he keeps people frustrated, he'd be fine. When he was in Mike's head, Chester was almost always there, which built up his power over that period of time."
"So, if he can't cause trouble he'll disappear?" I questioned.
Dawn shook her head. "No, first he'll just be weak for a while, which Mike is, and then he'll sort of fade away."
"Dawn you're pretty good at this." I told her and she laughed.
SONG RECOMMENDATION: With UR Love by Cher Lloyd
Over 3,000 words, yay! Do you like my/Dawn's theory? I came up with it on the spot. Not much to say today (Lucky you). One thing though: I've noticed I get at least one follower/favorite every chapter, but not many reviews. I really like reviews because I know what's good and bad. Eventually, I may have to do a "certain amount of reviews before I post" thing.
Anyway, please tell me; what's good, what's bad, ideas, and anything else you might want to say! Thank you today! Bye!
