Snowball Fight

"Morgan…Morgan!"

Greg's excited voice broke through the blonde woman's hazy dreams. She rolled over with a reluctant groan and looked up at the excited face of her boyfriend. Despite her slight irritation at being disturbed, Morgan smiled; Greg's enthusiasm for life was rather infectious, and his grin was always so warm; Morgan could never stay annoyed at him for long.

"What's up?" she asked rubbing her eyes wearily and propping herself up on the bed with her elbow.

"You'll never guess what's happened" Greg said; he appeared jittery, like an overjoyed kid on Christmas morning.

"You did the laundry for once? Because that would be a miracle" Morgan asked teasingly and Greg's face fell a little and he looked guilty.

"No…but I'm gunna do it tonight, I promise"

Morgan giggled a little. "Okay, I give up" she said "What's happened?"

Greg scrambled off the bed and jumped over to the window where a string of daylight was breaking its way through the small gap in the curtains. He took hold of the drapes and then flung them open dramatically. Morgan dived back into the pillows and squinted to give her eyes time to adjust to the sudden spurt of bright light.

"It's snowed!" Greg said excitedly "I don't remember the last time I saw snow in Vegas!"

"No way" Morgan said her voice full of surprise. She finally found the will power to leave the pillowed fortress that was their bed and joined Greg at the window.

He hadn't been kidding. A perfect blanket of pure white covered everything in sight. Children were already down in the street laughing and playing, dragging each other through on sledges, building snowmen and throwing snowballs. Adults were stood around all wrapped up in their woollen attire which they hardly ever got chance to wear, and they were sipping on hot drinks, steam swirling about in the ice cold air.

"C'mon we have to go outside!" Greg said, taking Morgan's hands and dragging her back towards their closet.

"You're acting like a kid!" Morgan laughed. "Why are you so excited about this? I hate the cold" she said.

"Well, when I was a kid and my Papa Olaf would take me to Norway before Christmas it snowed all the time" Greg started to explain as he rummaged through his clothes. "And some of the happiest memories I have of my Grandfather were when he would take me out in the snow and just play with me. He was quite young for a Grandfather, full of energy" Greg said as he paused to think about the memories; a slightly sad smile tugged at his lips. "I miss him" he said.

Morgan gave him a soft smile and rubbed his shoulder comfortingly "he sounds like an amazing guy" she said.

"He was" Greg said "and he would have loved you almost as much as I do"

"I'm sure I'd have loved him too, and I love you" Morgan replied and pulled Greg into a tight hug, giving him a soft peck on the lips.

"He gave me this scarf too" Greg said when they pulled apart, running his fingers delicately across the soft garment in his hands. "I haven't worn it in a while…"

Morgan smiled at him "Well, now you have the chance" she said. "C'mon we'll get dressed, have breakfast, and then go for a walk, how does that sound?"

Greg smiled back at her "That sounds amazing"

After wrapping up in their warmest clothes and a delicious pancake breakfast thanks to Morgan, the couple headed out into the snow covered streets, their gloved hands clutching each other's as Greg swung their arms a little. Morgan had really hated the cold weather ever since she could remember, but she would tolerate just to keep the smile of Greg's face.

"We should head to the park" Greg suggested eagerly "Maybe we could build a snow man?"

Morgan chuckled lightly "Sure, if that's what you want to do"

So the couple headed to the park. Again it was full of children and their parents enjoying the soft white landscape, and there were plenty of dogs running around too.

"Just think, we'll have kids of our own someday and we can play with them in the snow too" Greg said brightly as he squeezed Morgan's hand.

"You think about us having kids?" Morgan asked adoringly. It was so sweet that Greg envisioned them having children together when they'd only been dating for about a year.

"Sure, a boy and a girl, and we'll get a dog too" he said.

Morgan smiled softly "That sounds perfect" she said, giving Greg a worm peck on his cheek.

"Hey, look who it is!" Greg said pointing over to the other side of the park.

Nick and Sara were walking and talking together whilst Sam darted around sniffing the snow, and trying to catch the snowballs in his mouth Nick made for him.

"Hey!" Sara called as the happy couple approached them. "Isn't this great?"

"Yeah, I love the snow" Greg said.

"Afraid I have to disagree with you there" Nick said "but the big man needed a walk and I asked Sara if she wanted to come along" he explained as he ruffled the top of Sam's head.

"Yeah, I don't really like the cold either" Morgan said as she squatted down to stroke Sam "But you have a nice thick coat to keep you warm don't you, Sammy?" she said with a smile "il fait très froid"

"Mmm, I love it when you speak French" Greg said seductively as Morgan stood back up and he wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Greg…" she said in a slightly warning tone through gritted teeth "We're in public…" Sara and Nick shared an amused look.

"So anyway…" Sara said with a light laugh "What did you guys have planned for the rest of the day?"

"Oh nothing much" Greg said "We just wanted to go for a walk and then get a cup of coffee"

"See now he's being mature" Morgan said teasingly "he was bouncing around the apartment earlier talking about snowmen and snowball fights…"

"Hey, that sounds like fun" Nick said with a light smirk.

"Oh, no way" Sara said firmly "especially not if it's the whole boy versus girls thing…"

"We'd be at the disadvantage anyway; Greg's never thrown a ball in his life" Nick jibed.

Greg looked offended "We played that baseball game just a few months ago!" he tried to defend himself "it's not my fault anyway, my mom wouldn't let my play sports" he pouted.

"Well, you were captain of the chess team weren't you?" Sara tried to stick up for him.

Nick scoffed "That doesn't count"

Greg scowled at him "Yes it does"

"Greg, you can't seriously be suggesting that when comparing chess to football or something…" Nick continued his retort, but he didn't notice as Greg scooped down and picked up a lump of snow off the ground.

Greg took aim and sent the ball hurtling towards Nick, but the Texan noticed just in time and ducked out of the way. Instead, the icy lump ended hitting Morgan right in the back of the head as she'd been bent down playing with Sam the whole time. Morgan let out a yelp of surprise and shook her head before turning around and glaring at Greg.

"Oh, erm…sorry baby" Greg said sheepishly "It was Nick's fault, he moved!"

"Don't try and blame this on me" Nick said raising his hand defensively.

Morgan didn't say anything; she just smirked and began to form a snowball of her own. Greg opened his mouth to try and defend himself some more, but before he even had the chance Morgan sent her snowball flying right into his face, dampening Greg's perfectly spiked hair and forcing him to brush off the white powder with a somewhat horrified expression.

"Revenge is sweet" Morgan said with an innocent smile.

"Oh no, I'm not going down that easily" Greg said with a mischievous grin as prepared another snowball.

"No, Greg, don't you dare…" Morgan squeaked as she started to back away, but Greg came towards her, snowball poised in his hand.

"Oh, I do dare" Greg said teasingly.

"No!" Morgan teased as she went to make another snowball of her own.

Greg threw his and missed, but then retreated to make another one. Morgan's next snowball ended up hitting Greg's back, but the male CSI just laughed and sent one back in her direction, hitting Morgan square in the face; she was laughing too though, she loved how fun every day with Greg could be.

Sara and Nick just stood back and observed as the battle between the love-struck pair continued.

"They really do make a good couple don't they?" Sara said with a smile.

"Yeah, they really deserve to be this happy" Nick said. "Only Greg and Morgan could be throwing snowball in each other's faces and still love each other by the end of it" he chuckled.

"You think they'll get married someday?" Sara asked.

"Quite possibly in the near future" Nick said, and smiled as they watched Morgan practically jump on Greg's back to mush a snowball into his hair.

"Yeah, they're never going to break up" Sara said confidently.

"No bet needed" Nick agreed.

"Right, you are so dead!" Morgan said teasingly as she scooped up her latest pile of snow.

"Bring it on!" Greg challenged her.

With a mighty throw, Morgan released her snow bomb and hit Greg right on the side of the head. Greg let out a startled gasp, before swaying a little on the spot and falling limply to the ground. Morgan gaped in shock for a moment before running over with Nick and Sara.

"Greg!" Morgan cried "Oh my God, Greg" she fell to her knees beside him and rolled him over so he was on his back. "Greg?" she said again, quiet and fearful.

Suddenly, Greg started chuckling to himself as he opened one eye and scrunched up his nose. "You said I was gunna die" he teased.

"Wh-Greg!" Morgan scolded as she thumped his shoulder "that's not funny!"

"Don't do that, man!" Nick exclaimed whilst Sara just smirked and shook her head.

"Ow, okay I'm sorry" he said as he rubbed his shoulder but was still laughing.

"I thought I'd really hurt you!" Morgan said with an upset pout.

"Oh, I'm sorry baby" Greg said "I won't do it again, I promise"

"Good, 'casue you're not allowed to leave me for a long, long time" Morgan said firmly and then wrapped her arms around Greg's neck in a tight embrace.

"I don't intend to" Greg assured her.

"C'mon, let's go find somewhere to warm up before these two start making out in public" Nick teased, and Greg and Morgan shot him a look.

"You're just jealous" Morgan said as she squeezed Greg tight to her and planted a big kiss on his cheek with an emphasized 'Mwah!'

"Yeah, where is your girlfriend again, Nick?" Greg asked with a smirk and a quirked eyebrow.

"Alright, alright" Nick said dismissively as he put Sam's lead back on. "How about I buy the coffee, huh?"

"As long as that includes me too" Sara said with a smug look.

"Of course" Nick said.

They turned their attention back to Greg and Morgan who were whispering and giggling to each other.

"What's going on?" Sara asked with a suspicious smile.

"Well, Morgan and I talked Nick's offer over and we're not satisfied" Greg shrugged.

"Yeah, we think we need some more compensation" Morgan added.

"And we thought this would suffice" Greg said with an innocent smile.

With that, two snowballs landed in Nick's face as Morgan and Greg opened fire at the same time. The Texan stumbled back in shock, and Sara just laughed along with the devious couple.

"You two really are perfect for each other" Sara said.

"We know" Greg and Morgan said in unison, and beamed.
