Jake POV

Oh man! Never have I ever thought Amy Cahill and I would be walking together on the beach. I looked down and saw her pale cheeks become flaming when the others started teasing us. I didn't know what to say. Speechless. Me, Jake Rosenbloom, a smart guy who is speechless while holding Amy's hand. She is the most beautiful girl in the world. I don't know why she's into me. Her fiery red hair framed her face. Those green, calculating eyes glanced up at me. I need to tell her about how I feel now or else I won't ever be able to. I looked up ahead and saw a log away from the others and lead her there. I sat down in the sand and motion for her to come and sit in the space beside me. She sat and leaned her head in the crook of my neck. We watched the waves crash against the sand as the sun began to set. I decided it's now or never.

I cleared my throat and said,"Amy...I…"

I rubbed the back of my neck and look away, nervous to say anything. She took my hand away from my neck and put her hand on my cheek. She turned my head towards her face. Her eyes, wide and innocent looking into my eyes, melting me.

"Jake is everything ok?"

Her concern was always something I've loved about her.

"Amy everything is great."

I looked away. She kept her puzzled, emerald eyes trained on my face, trying to catch my dodging eyes. I closed my eyes and turned towards her.

"I think I'm in love with you."

Everything went silent.

The second I opened my eyes Amy's lips were softly on mine. I had to balance both our weights on my stretched out arm. I tasted strawberries on her lips. I placed my hand on her cheek and pushed away a strand of hair. She pulled away and I had to control myself so that I wouldn't pounce my lips back onto hers. Amy began to blush realizing that we just kissed for the first time. Then her face began to scrunch up together. Was the kiss not good? I thought. She was a good kisser...what if that didn't meet up to her expectation? Would she just leave me? I began to freak out.

"You ok Amy? Was that not good? I'm sorry! I-"

"Huh? Oh yeah I'm great Jake. Don't worry that was… interesting. It's getting late Jake, we better get back."

She looked up and smiled at me and convinced me that she was ok so I smiled at her. Our eyes never looked away. I felt like nothing could break the connection that we had. I jumped up and pulled her up. We walked back to her car hand in hand, our toes in the sand, and the sun setting behind the horizon. I smiled and turned to her and stole another kiss. I put my hands to the middle of her back and pulled her close to my body. She put one hand on my shoulder and ran her other hand through my hair. I didn't want to get too far in public so I pulled back. She made a small noise in protest that sounded like a puppy when you take it's ball away.

"Amy lets go home."

Amy POV

Walking on the sand under a sunset, smelling the water crashing beside us with Jake. I've always kinda thought he was cute. I felt safe, liked, and even beautiful when I was with him. He we everything I ever hoped for ever since… Evan….Jake was always there for me. Just sitting next to him in the sand watching the sun go down seemed magical. I loved being with him. He kept looking at me like he wanted to say something. I wondered if he wanted to talk about his father.

"Jake is everything ok?"

"Amy everything is great."

I knew that that was a lie. Finally he turned to me.

"I think I'm in love with you."

Jake Rosenbloom is in love with me? This smart, funny, emotional sometimes, shy boy is in love with me? I'm nothing but a timid bookworm. But I had to smile. I couldn't help it. His soft lips against mine took me away from reality. I pulled away from our small kiss. His eyes were huge and full of surprise. He was smiling at me and I smiling up at him then I frowned. In that moment, I really looked at him. Instead of a boy, I saw a young man with strong arms wrapped around me. His eyes were wide and full of joy. I just couldn't tell him. There would be so many consequences if I told him. He must have seen the look on my face.

"You ok Amy? Was that not good? I'm sorry! I-"

"Huh? Oh yeah I'm great Jake. Don't worry that was… interesting. It's getting late Jake, we better get back."

We got up and held hands all the way back. Feeling the warmth of his hands intertwined with mine made me feel so safe. I knew that he really loved me which scared me. The sand warmed my feet after being in the sun all day as we walked back to my car. After a while, Jake stopped walking. He pulled me around and immediately had his hands on the middle of my back. My hand went to his shoulder to stable myself and the other went to his hair. His hair. Jet black and short, just the way I like it. He leaned in. The kiss was passionate and soft. I knew that we shouldn't do this. I just couldn't do that to him. I was tried to savor this kiss like it was our last when he pulled back and I moaned. I didn't want him to leave my lips. His lips were warm and they sent a wave of warmth through my body.

When we got back to the place where we left the others, it was abandoned. They must have left early to get dinner at home.

"Hey where's our stuff?" Jake looked around.

He took my hand and and we went back to my car. My beauty. Sinead had an extra key to my car and so I opened my trunk and found our towels and my bag. A note was placed on top of my bag.

Hey Amy,

So, as much as I love seeing you so googly eyed for Jake, be careful. You never know!

Anyways, me and the gang are going to leave you two lovebirds alone and go grab dinner.

We'll meet you back home!

Sinead

P.S I know that you left lipstick on little Jakey there so wipe up before the guys see :)

I blushed after reading that last line.

"Hey Amy, what's it say?" Jake said as he grabbed his phone from his bag.

I quickly crumpled the note and placed it into my bag.

"Nothing, Sinead just said that they were going to grab dinner and meet us at home." I said as I closed the trunk.

So I went to the drivers side and there Jake was, holding the door open for me. He closed my door after I stepped into my car and he settled in the passenger side. The whole ride home we sang to every song on the radio together driving away from the lovely orange-pink sky behind us. I kept thinking about these decisions that I needed to make. On top of that, Ian and Jake. So many different consequences could lead to a horrible end. If I chose the wrong path, it could hurt someone or even worst. Put them in danger. As the sky began to darken I could finally see my house. Home sweet home. As I drove through the open gates, I looked up and saw the moon shining down like a nightlight. I parked my car into the garage where I saw the other cars. Ham's car was full of mud and needed a wash. I made a mental note to tell him. We got out and grabbed our stuff from the trunk. The house was unusually quiet and all the lights were out. As I turned to unlock the door to the house Jake took my waist in his strong hands and spun me to face his face. He moved his head down to gaze into my eyes. His huge brown eyes sent a shiver through my body. His warm touch was hot to the touch of my back. I leaned in closer and began to close my eyes. We were so close to that I could feel his breath on my cheek. Just waiting for his lips to find mine and-

"Oh get a room guys!"

I looked up in surprise and found Dan and Att looking down at us from Dan's bedroom window. Snap! A flash blinded Jake and I as we covered our eyes.

"I think that one should be their new profile pic don't you think?" Att showed Dan the picture from his camera who nodded eagerly.

I blushed, "Oh shut up. Just go to bed already. And if you show that picture to anyone...well, you should watch your back." I smiled.

Dan and Att laughed and closed the window.

Jake laughed, "That's my sweet, intimidating girl."

"That's my sweet, intimidating girl." I thought. He said my girl. I smiled and opened the door. I looked in my bag for my switchblade but I couldn't feel it. I looked around pushing my towel and clothes to one side but I couldn't find it.

"Hey, you ok?" Jake touched my shoulder and looked at me with concern.

I lightly pushed him inside and said, "I'm ok, I think I left something in the car. You go inside first, I'll be back in a minute. Go take a shower, you smell like the beach."

He looked at me with protest on his face so I gave him a warm smile. He nodded and went to his room.

I closed the door and went back to my car. I opened my drivers side door and sat in the seat. A white envelope was on the passenger seat addressed to… me. I looked around to see if anyone was around. I opened the envelope cautiously.

You better watch your back 'VH '. Do what we say or else people will get hurt.

I gasped. They found me. But that wasn't possible. The twins would have told me. Alexander and Alecia would have warned me. I fumbled the note back into its envelope and placed it in my bag and ran out of my car. I ran to the door and fumbled for my keys. I kept looking over my shoulder and finally got the right key and locked the door behind me. My back was up against the door breathing hard.

"Amy you alright kiddo?" Nellie asked concerned as she came out of the kitchen. Nellie's pink and black apron was caked with flour.

"Uh yeah just um, a long day. I'm going to bed now. Goodnight." I scurried up the huge staircase.

"Hold on kiddo."

I held my breath and turned around.

Nellie's strict face turned into a smile.

"Saw that Jake come in just before you smiling like an idiot. You did didn't ya? I knew it!" She pumped her floury fist up.

I blushed, "If that's all then I'm going to sleep now."

I didn't count the steps properly and I landed in a thump. I didn't hear a crack so that's all that mattered. I looked down and saw that my ankle had a red line that began to swell up.

"Amy are you ok?" Nellie ran to the bottom of the staircase.

I didn't want to be treated like child so I just waved her away, "Yeah just tripped. Night!"

"Ok just be careful. Hope you dream about him tonight!" Nellie laughed and went back into the kitchen.

I smiled and picked up my bag and continued to my room at the hall. Everyone else's door was closed and the lights were out. I peaked into Dan's room. Of course he wasn't there, most likely with Att in the basement playing some video game. His room was messy as always. His sheets were in a clump and his pillows thrown to the ground. The closet was stuffed with clothes and his blue walls were covered in posters. On his desk, there was his bag and blades. Since the Vespers he wanted to learn to defend himself from those who might want to hurt him, so he learned how to throw knifes for the summer. That summer was when Nellie got a job at teaching cooking at a culinary school. Amy was alone at the mansion since Friske decided that he wanted to go a little vacation to Australia to "see friends". I laughed. Dan and I used to joke that he was there to meet old "lady" friends. That summer changed my life.

I pushed away from Dan's room and kept walking remembering that I needed to contact the twins. I closed my door behind me and switched on the light and set my bag down. I gasped. There on my bed was a bouquet of 50 red roses and a note beside it.

Amy, meet me in the roof garden.
