Disclamer: I don't own Persona and Xenoblade Chronicles.
Hey guys, thank you for reading my first crossover. First of all, I am not a native speaker, so if you feel weird when reading certain parts, it could be because of my bad grammar and vocabulary. Feel free to correct me in the review and I will fix it as soon as possible. Secondly, because this is one of my first fanfics so I have little experience. I apologize for every mistake I made and am thankful for anyone reading this. And finally, please enjoy!
Bionis's Leg, Gaur Plain, Day 1, 17:37
There was a silver hair boy wearing a black uniform on the vast plain. He could feel the wind blowing.
'Ugh...'
He could also feel the grass touching his skin while he was wondering where was in Inaba would have so much grass like this.
'What just happened?' He grumbled.
He could also feel a light headache, just like car sick. His memory was a bit hazy. When he slowly opened his eyes, he saw a big blue sky with some white clouds.
(...?)
But if he saw the sky, did that mean he was in the real world? That was what he was wondering.
According to his memory, his name was Yu Narukami and he was a high school student. He had moved to Inaba due to family business. And now this might sound unbelievable, but he and his friends were solving a serial murder case by rescuing kidnapped people inside the TV. Yes, some kids were going to solve a murder case is truly unbelievable, but inside the TV? Nobody gonna buy that. That's exactly why they were the only ones who could do this.
His team possessed a mysterious power called "Persona". According to a certain strange long-nosed man, Persona is a manifestation of its user's personality, like a "mask" that one uses to overcome life's hardships. In other words, it is the strength of their heart. With this power, they could go inside the TV, rescue people, make new friends, form the Investigation Team and together overcome so many dangerous situations to bring peace to their little, quiet countryside town.
Today they went to the TV world too. Although no one was being kidnapped this time, they went to do some practice fights and looked for a few things that people in the town had asked him for. They had thought that this journey would be like every other day, but soon they realized that they were wrong. From the moment he stepped his foot inside the TV, he couldn't remember what happened after that anymore.
(Where am I?) He thought.
If he saw a blue sky like this, it would be possible that he was outside the real world, at least not inside the TV world. Because the TV world was always filled with fog, liked obstructing them from the truth.
The boy wearing the black school uniform sat up and felt a little dizzy. Then he looked around, and what he saw amazed him.
He was in the middle of a massively big, big vast plain and a few platforms protruding out. Not only that, he could also see the upper part of a super-colossal structure of a giant titan from afar. Its height couldn't be described as a skyscraper, but instead it should be Everest Mountain for comparison- No, this thing is even taller than two times the highest mountain in the world. Although he couldn't tell clearly as the cloud was obstructing his view, he could deduce that it was too far away, but it was still too massive like this making him wonder who in the world could have built that thing.
In addition, on the plane there were so many strange creatures that he had never seen in his life. Some resembled a triceratops, while others looked like horses with reptilian scales. A large ape-like creature could also be seen from afar and he definitely did not want to get any closer to it.
(Wait, my team...)
His mind had so many questions, but the most important one was where his teammates were.
'Yosuke! Chie! Yukiko! Teddie! Kanji! Rise! Naoto! Where are you?!' He shouted his teammate's names in the hope that he could find someone.
...
But nobody answered.
(...)
Nearly panic, he felt that this situation was getting worse. He not only was in a weird place that he had almost no information about, but also lost contact with his friends whose safety that he couldn't even known.
(Is the only way wandering around?) He thought while standing up. It seemed what he could do at the moment was going around. When he looked down, a long katana sword was buried in the grass. This was actually his main weapon.
(Good to see you.) Yu thought that when he pick the sword.
He held his long katana sword and checked it. Then he tried swinging it in order to check if he could fight. Actually out of topic, in the beginning, he used a golf club. It might not be strong but it still could break the head of any Shadow their party encountered. From time to time, he started to use any long object as a weapon and now it was this katana (which made him cooler).
(It seems that I can still swing this normally.) He confirmed his fighting ability. If it was not because he had battled so many Shadows before, he couldn't have this good reflex and battle experience.
Next he needed to check that "thing". As soon as Yu opened his left hand, a card-shaped blue object started to manifest on it.
(So I can still summon my Persona.)
And then he clenched his hand to break it.
'Kaguya!'
All of the sudden, a red and black humanoid figure resembling a girl appeared behind him. Her magnificence could be seen by the big cloaks behind her. This was just one of his Personas, the proof of a bond between him and a certain girl.
Then the figure just simply disappeared.
(But does it mean I'm still inside the TV world?) He tried to guess.
Regardless, one thing he could be so sure was that he had gone inside the TV. It was just that he didn't remember what was happened after that.
'...'
He could not remember the "after", but how about the "before"?
(Had there been something strange before we entered the TV?) He tried to search his memory to see if anything strange that had happened before.
('Can you help me?') A voice was raised in his flashbacks.
(I remembered!)
He finally remembered that particular moment. About what had happened, it was after school, Yu was sitting lonely at a table for a while to wait for his friends at Junes. Then there was a strange old man approaching him. It was weird that except remembering clearly that was an old man, Yu couldn't recall what he looked like.
('Are you Yu Narukami? The one who can bring stuff that everyone needs?') The voice was hoarse, but Yu could still hear clearly.
Actually the stuff he brought for people in Inaba usually came from the TV world. Of course they had to trade stuff for him instead of doing this for free.
('Yes, my name is indeed Yu. And it's true that I can find a few things that is hard to look for.') He replied. ('Do you need something as well?')
Yu guessed that this old man had been told about him by someone he had helped before. Maybe he wasn't even aware that he had become famous.
('Right, it's true that I need one thing? But first I want to know what you think about this.')
('...?') Don't understand what the old man was talking about, Yu was curious.
('Do you believe that you can change the future?') He gave Yu a strange question.
('?')
What did he mean by "change the future"? Like controlling destiny?
('What do you mean?') Yu revealed his difficulty to understand.
('...No, never might. Maybe you really can help me after all.') The old man changed the subject. ('What I want is a thing called "Blade of Fear".')
('?') Yu confused. ('What is "Blade of Fear"?')
('The only thing I know that is a big sword. It was said that it can cause lie, deception, illusion and defy the meaning of any existence. There weren't any proof, but I know it's exist.') The old man explained. But the explanation made Yu even more confused.
('...I think that is a bit vague. Is there anything else you know about that "blade"?') He asked.
('You can find it somewhere on a big titan.') He continued.
('Excuse me?')
He had always been asked to look for things in many absurd places and luckily they were all in the TV world. But in this case... a big titan?
('Can you help me?') The old man asked him again.
('...I will try.') He answered, while being uncertain where to find it.
('There you are. Hey Yu.') Said by a orange hair boy approaching him. A headphone could be seen around his neck.
('Yosuke.') Yu said the boy's name.
('You seem talking to someone. Who was that?') Yosuke said with a smile.
('Ah, it just- huh?')
When he turned his head, the old man was nowhere to be seen.
('Hm? Where is he?') Yu wondered.
('Is something wrong?') Yosuke asked when he could felt his best friend's uneasiness.
('Ah, It's... nothing.') Yu decided not to talk about him after thinking it might not be important. ('By the way, where is Teddie?')
('I made him do a few errands. It will be quick so he should be here soon.') Yosuke answered.
('I see.') Yu nodded.
And after that they had had a quick conversation before everyone of the Investigation Team showed up.
'...'
(Was that old man have something to do with this? And what is "Blade of Fear"?) He wondered.
'Help!'
Without warning, he heard a voice from far away.
The origin of the voice was a girl being chased by a pair of triceratops-liked creatures. She wore a black school uniform with a yellow scarf. That was the female school uniform of Yasogami High School, the same school Yu attended. Also, she wore thigh-high stockings and a turtleneck under her uniform. Her hair was tied in two pigtails with the color of copper. With all of this, Yu absolutely couldn't mistake who this was. She was one of his juniors and a member of the Investigation Team, Rise Kujikawa.
'Rise!' He yelled, although the distance was a bit too far.
'S- Senpai?! Help me! Senpai!'
'Hang in there!' He ran before he could complete his sentence. Though he started to worry that he wouldn't make it on time.
'Hah... hah...'
From the distance he could tell that Rise was starting to be exhausted. If he wasn't fast enough, it would be too late.
'Sraosha!'
Another figure appeared behind Yu after he had shouted the new Persona's name. It had emerald-colored skin, pointed ears, wings on its back, and was holding a scroll. On its forehead, an orange orb could be seen that resembled its third eye. Its running speed seemed somewhat faster, likely due to the new Persona's increased Agility. Normally, a person can only have one Persona at a time. However, in Yu's case, he possessed a unique ability known as 'Wild Card.' This power enabled him to possess multiple Personas simultaneously and switch between them at will. The Persona's stats became his own, making this ability highly advantageous.
'Ah!' Rise stumbled and fell over after running for too long. Her leg was shaking and couldn't stand anymore.
Two creatures were charging full speed toward the defenseless girl. Without a doubt they attempted to lunge at her.
'No!'
'Mahamaon!'
Fortunately, Yu made it in time. He rushed right into their front and confronted them. As soon as he did, they were surrounded by countless card-shaped light objects. This was an insta-kill move that he usually uses to end the battle quickly.
Crackkk
But it had no effect on them. The move had failed.
Twack
'Gah!'
Yu was lunged instead. His stomach was stabbed by their horn and began to bleed. He could only tremble in pain.
'Senpai!' Rise shouted in worried.
'Ga-!' His mouth started to bleed too. 'Kohryu! Mediarahan!' A golden Chinese dragon emerged immediately after he had broken another card. From its roar, he could feel better when his body glowed a green light. The wound was healed and he could finally stand normally.
Roooaaaaarrrrrrr
Those creatures started to roar as well.
'Himiko!'
The moment Rise shouted, a card was manifested just like what Yu did in front of her. A woman figure who held a ring by two hands and had an antenna-shaped head appeared. The Persona's name was Himiko, which could only be used for scanning, analyzing and supporting instead of fighting. This was the reason she could only run from danger even though she had a Persona.
'T- those things have just increased their strength. If this continues, they will become extremely dangerous.'
'I see, then I must finish this quick! Yoshitsune!'
Yu continued summoning his new Persona. It had the shape of a Japanese swordsman. He was clad by a red Japanese armor and held two swords on his two hands.
'Power Charge!'
His Persona began to gather strength, as if preparing for a strong attack.
The two creatures started to attack him again. The first one tried to plough him. But...
'Hah!'
Thanks to Yoshitsune's Agility, he would be able to dodge the attack so easily. But for the second one...
'!'
The other creature was charging at him to lunge again. From his position, he couldn't respond in time. However...
'Himiko! Protect!'
Before the attack could hit him, a barrier had been created in order to protect Yu. The charging was deflected by the barrier knocking the creature back.
'Senpai! Now is your chance!'
'Thanks Rise! Hassou Tobi!'
Clang
Yoshitsune quickly run into behind the creature. Then suddenly, the ground below the two creatures began to turn red and black.
Slash
Yoshitsune unleashed his destructive slash. The slash left a big gash in the ground. If you thought that was the end, then you were mistaken.
Slash Slash Slash Slash Slash Slash Slash Clank
Yoshitsune ran around the two beasts and gave them a slice, then another slice, and another... There were eight slashes in total. Eight gashes from the slashes crossed each other at one point, as if dividing the ground into sixteen equal parts. The creatures could only cry out in pain.
Rumble
The two creatures were defeated and collapsed just in one single move.
'We did it!' He sighed in relief.
'Senpaiiiiii!' Rise came to hug Yu, nearly crying. 'I... I was so scared...'
'I'm sorry I wasn't there in time to help. But it's okay now, don't worry. I'm here for you.'
'Uhm!'
At least Yu had found his first teammate so he could relax a little, but it didn't mean the others still safe. Regardless, after they gave themselves some time to calm down, it was time for them to figure out what was just happening.
'I'm glad that I found you. When I woke up I was alone with some strange creatures. I tried to scan the area but... the only signal I found was you.'
'You mean that everyone except us isn't here?'
'I'm sorry... but I'm afraid so. I hope that they're doing fine.' Rise's anxious showed in her words.
'Well, that can't be helped, but if they were in the same situation as us, we need to find them quick. Especially when they're alone.'
'Right.'
Yu looked around to see the vast land again. He was hoping a little that he could see their friends by chance, but it wouldn't be simple like that.
'But still, first we need to figure out where we are. We can summon our Persona here, so does that mean this is the TV world?' Yu tried to deduce while looking around.
'I'm not so sure about that. When I scanned the area, I felt like this is truly a real world. But... not our world.'
'Not our world? You mean neither Inaba nor TV world?'
'Probably. I found out that this world was being overflowed by some kind of strange energy. Maybe it has something to do about why we can summon our Persona here.'
'Hm... From what I can see about those strange creatures, I don't think they're Shadows too...' He said while coming to and inspecting the two defeated creatures's corpses. It appeared that they were truly living being.
'One more thing. I found that the structure of this land is kinda... weird.' Rise started to unsure herself.
'Weird?'
'How do I put this...? Maybe I should draw it out.'
After saying that, Rise reached for a stick on the ground nearby. She used it to draw something on the ground with the help of Himiko. What was being drawn was a humanoid figure, its shape was bulky like a super robot that he had seen in children's shows. From the way it was standing, he could tell that it was semi-kneeling on one leg.
'What is this?' Yu wondered.
'This is the overview of the world in which we are standing. Although I can't find out everyone's signals due to being out of range, my wide scan showed how the terrain here.'
'But this is...' Yu confused.
'I know. I have been confused just like you too. But this is what I found after I scanned the whole wide area.' Then she used the stick to point to the non-kneeling figure's thigh. 'This is our current position.'
Yu looked at the drawing, then he looked at the gigantic structure that he had seen and been wondering about for a while.
'You mean... we are standing on a super gigantic titan? Literally?' Yu confirmed his understanding so far.
Rise nodded. 'Luckily I just have to scan vertically, but its height... I guess it would be approximately 10 kilometers. Note that it can be higher.'
'...'
Yu didn't know what to say.
'Senpai, what should we do?'
The only thing they knew was that they were on a titan. But no matter how confused the situation, as the leader of the Investigation Team, the only thing he prioritized most was looking for their friend and making sure that they were safe.
'If we are here, then there is a high chance that everyone else were here too. Let's find some clues about them. Even if this place is huge, we must keep going.'
'Right! Then I will do my best to track them down!' Rise said with high spirit.
'Batubatu will help too!'
'Thank you- Wait, what?!'
Just at the moment they weren't noticing, a new creature had already approached them. It was small and round like an egg which made it look chubby. Also it had blue fur, its face was also small that made it look cuter too. Yu almost went into his fighting stand when he heard the voice, but it seemed this was not an enemy.
'What is this thing...? Cute.' Rise bent down to look at the creature.
'Batubatu is cute? That makes Batubatu happy.'
'Hold on, just what are you?' Yu asked.
'Hm? Batubatu is Batubatu. Batubatu is a Nopon.' He answered, while looking up to their face.
'Nopon? What is that?'
'You Hom Hom don't know Nopon? You Hom Hom are weird.'
'Hom Hom?'
(His way of talking is somehow... unique.) Yu thought to himself.
'Senpai... do you think this thing just reminds you of Teddie?' Rise shared her opinion.
'Yes, I do.' Yu nodded.
'What were those scary things friends just called out? I have never seen those scary things before.' The creature, whose name might be Batubatu, asked.
'You have seen us?' Rise surprised.
'Actually, when friends were being attacked Batubatu was going to save you. But after seeing those scary things he hesitated to act.'
'Well, it's true that I have detected a signal and now I know that is you, but you has never moved out of your position. Are you sure that you were going to help us?' Rise asked.
'About that...' He faltered. 'Just tell Batubatu what those scary things are. Batubatu won't tell anyone, he is just curious.'
'Well... This is kind of hard to explain.' Rise turned to Yu. 'What should we do?'
(Because we are lacking information, so maybe...) Yu thought.
'...So if I tell you, can you answer a few questions for us?' Yu asked.
'Sure.'
'Are you sure this is okay Senpai?' Rise whispered to Yu, stated her worry.
'Right now we need to collect as much information as we can so that we can find everyone else. Risking our Persona's information should be our best choice.' Yu said.
'I see. In that case I will leave it to you.' Rise agreed, completely trusted his choice.
Then Yu turned to the creature.
'Ok, so what you called "those scary things" is actually our special power. It's called "Persona".' Yu explained.
'Persona? What is Persona?'
'You can say that our Persona is our another self and our heart's strength.'
'"Another self"? Batubatu is not sure he can understand. But can he have it?'
'...Well, I'm not sure how you can get it here. But you just need to accept your true self.'
'"True self"? It sounds difficult.' He started to feel confused. 'But he thinks he got it. Friends can ask me.' He quickly said.
He said he had gotten it, but Yu wasn't sure about that. The topic was too hard for him so he might decide to skip. Anyway, if possible, he should conceal their Persona's existence to avoid unnecessary attention.
'Did you happen to see anyone using the same power as us?' Yu asked
'Nope. I only see you.'
'So have you seen anyone wearing clothes similar to ours? Or a girl wearing red or green? And... a bear?' He tried to describe.
'Hmmmm... Batubatu not sure what "bear" means, but he has never seen any strange people until he met you.'
It appeared this creature didn't have any clues about their friends. At least that was Yu's conclusion.
'So if you accidently see someone fit my descriptions, can you tell them?'
'Okay.'
And now is the time to talk about this place.
'Where are we right now?' Yu asked again.
'Where you are right now is called Gaur Plain, on the Bionis's Leg.'
'Bionis?'
'You don't know Bionis too? Every life on the Bionis knows.'
'So can you tell us what "Bionis" is you were talking about?'
And that was how they were told about the tale of the Bionis and Mechonis. To summarize, a long time ago, there were two gods called Bionis and Mechonis. No one knows exactly since when, but they had been fighting for eternity. Until one day, the Mechonis's left arm was cut off by the Bionis's blade that led them to pierce each other at the same time. As the result, they were dead and being locked in their final position when being defeated forever. From there, life had begun to flourish on the Bionis's body and became what Yu and Rise are seeing right now.
'Wow...' Rise expressed her surprise while looking the giant titan from afar. 'I wouldn't even believe that if I hadn't scanned for myself.'
'Me neither.' Yu stated. 'But if life has expanded on the Bionis, is this the same for the Mechonis as well?'
'Nope, it is the home of the Mechon.' He denied.
'Mechon?'
'They were scary, they set up a war one year ago to invade the Bionis. It was called the Battle of the Sword Valley. Luckily Dunban has stopped them.'
'Dunban? Who is he?'
'Batubatu heard that he is the Wielder of the Monado. In case friends are wondering, the Monado is the blade of the Bionis and the only weapon that can hurt the Mechon.' Batubatu explained.
'Blade of the Bionis? You mean... the giant thing? So the blade is giant too?' Yu crossed his arms.
'It is small now, don't know the detail. You should ask him.'
'That "Dunban" guy? Do you know where he is?'
'He is retiring at Colony 9 right now. You can go this way to head there.' He then opened his wing-like ear that wrap aroud his neck to point to a path that lead to a canyon from very far away.
'Hm... but you say that the "Monado" is the only weapon that can hurt the Mechon. Is there something special about those things?' Rise asked.
'Batubatu doesn't know. Batubatu heard that regular weapons can't hurt the Mechon. So we can only run away from them.' He trembled.
'I see...'
'Is there anything we should know about before going?' Yu interrupted.
'You need to walk past Tephra Cave before arriving in Colony 9. Be careful of those Arachno.' He warned.
(More monster? Hope that we will be okay.)
'Batubatu heard that you are looking for your friends. Batubatu have Gerugu too- Oh, I forgot about Gerugu! I need to return right now!' He said in hurry.
'Huh? You won't guide us?'
'Batubatu always makes Gerugu worry. So he needs to return. Don't worry, this place might be huge, but if you pick a large object and head toward it, friends won't be lost.'
'What about you?'
'My senses of direction might be bad, but if Batubatu knows where Reguel Lake is, he could return safely. So then, good luck.' With that, he ran off.
...
'What do you think, Senpai?'
Upon first glance, it seemed as though they were truly in another world, one with its own people, and Yu now had enough information that he needed in order to make his next move. To gain more knowledge about the "Battle of the Sword Valley," "Mechon," "Monado," and any clues about their teammates, meeting with this "Dunban" would be necessary.
'Maybe we should go to that "Colony 9". From the way he talked, that place should have residents. At least I hope they're not evil. Maybe there is someone seeing our friend there too.'
'Make sense... That's better than walking around aimlessly.'
'Can you walk Rise?' He began to worry that Rise had run out of her stamina after that long chase.
'Oh, does Senpai really cares about me? Don't worry, Risette isn't some kind of damsel in distress that would wear out so easily.' She cheerfully said.
'Right, but don't overdo it.' Yu advised.
From the moment they started to walk, Yu and Rise noticed that the sky had turned orange. It looked like the evening would be coming soon.
'For now we are going to that boulder over there and getting some rest. I feel like tomorrow we will have a long journey.' He pointed to a big rock that was standing alone on the field.
'I hope that everyone is safe.' Rise started to worry.
'Me too. But our health are important to find them, losing our patience and we will truly be in danger.' Yu tried to calm her.
'You sure are calm, no wonder you are our leader.' She commented.
'You think so?'
'No need to worry, I know you're right. We must keep our cool head in the situation like this so that we can have a logical and rational decisions.'
'And to make sure you are safe too.' Yu continued.
'W- wha-' Her face turned red a bit. 'You are always straightforward like this, don't you?'
The two just laughed it off while walking and making sure they didn't encounter any of those dangerous creatures along the way.
'But I still think the story about the Bionis and the Mechonis was amazing. Just... you know, if that Bionis thing suddenly moves again now...' Rise said.
'It will be a disaster.' Yu said his thought.
'...I might imagine things a bit too far.' She ended the topic.
Galahad Fortress, Main Maintenance Bay, Day 1, 18:06
The mechanical noise echoed in every corner of the fortress. There were so many robots in the fortress that this place looked like it was invaded by a swarm of insects. Although they were robots, their design was not the same as some cool-looking robot in any sci-fi movie. They were different in shape and size, but in general, they had dark blue armor with gold strips. A red light could also be seen, probably their eye. Those things were called the Mechon, enemies of the being on the Bionis that had taken part in the Battle of the Sword Valley one year ago. From how they acted, they seemed to be preparing for something.
And there was a big Mechon that was observing them. Unlike those Mechon, this one was special. It had a face that a regular Mechon didn't have and a pair of large and long claws on its hands.
'I finally see you.' A low voice could be heard.
The Mechon turned around to see a small boy. He clearly had a human shape, but his body was mechanical. He also had a long coat, the collar of which covered his mouth making him somewhat mysterious. His head was also adorn by a steel hat, which made people wonder whether it was a real hat or a part of his body. His name was Verista. He belonged to the Mechina tribe, a race born from the Mechonis that didn't want to be involved in the war. He had become famous for his high intelligence despite being so young. However, he had abandoned his home to become the strategist of the Mechon army. No one knew why he had done that though.
'You again? This place is not for kids. Go somewhere else to play.' The face Mechon said. Its voice was hoarse, and the way it talked was superior.
'Rude as always. There's something I'd like to talk to you about.' The boy's voice was still calm despite standing in front of a big, scary killing machine who could claim his life if he wanted.
'Hm? I'm busy. I don't have time to chat with kids.' The face Mechon showed its hatred to the boy.
'What if I say this is related to "him"?'
'Fine... you win. So, what do you want?'
'You are going to be in charge of the attack on Colony 9, aren't you?'
'Yup, is there a problem with that?'
'Because of him perhaps?'
'None of your business. You better go straight to the problem now.' The voice of the face Mechon started to be aggressive.
'Sorry, actually I want to go with you on the attack.'
'And why is that?'
'I have been a strategist since the Battle of the Sword Valley, but that was the only time I could see Homs. So I want to go with you to do some research about them.'
'You can go to Colony 6 instead.' The face Mechon tried to dismiss him.
'I know, but beside researching Homs I want to meet the Wielder of the Monado again, and the Monado itself.' The boy insisted.
'What if I say no?'
'I have "his" approval.'
'Tch, Fine... as long as you don't hinder us.'
'You have my thanks.'
'And I want to toss it away.'
'...'
They were just standing there watching the Mechon worked restlessly for a while.
'Have you ever considered leaving here?' The face Mechon suddenly asked.
'Why do you ask?'
'Have you realized that you were just a child?'
'I may be young for a Machina's lifespan. But I have reached nearly 1600 years old.'
'To your people, you still just a child. And despite being a child, you're still here. Do you know why?'
'...' He didn't know how to say, or rather he didn't want to say that.
'Because of your head you dumb kid, no matter how you do, the truth about you are a child won't change. The value they need from you is your knowledge.'
'...'
'There was a time that I wanted to wield the Monado so that people would call me a "hero". But that damn hero... he just stole all the spotlight. It should have been me, not him. But tomorrow, he soon will know what a pathetic hero is.'
'Why's talking about your jealousy now?'
'Just to remind you, without your knowledge you're nothing.' He walked away after say that sentence, left the boy behind.
...
He's just standing there, deep in thought.
(It has been a year already...)
To him, fate was surely strange. He's just here because he knew "that guy" had suffered a lot and accepted the invitation. But that was not his only reason.
(Is this really the right choice?) He questioned himself.
...
(I should prepare a few things for the battle tomorrow too.)
He then left as well and went to his room. But instead of resting, he took a handgun on the table. The handgun resembled a revolver, but it's a little bigger and looked like it has gotten some improvement. Because he was small, this was his only weapon to defend himself. If it had not been for his cleverness in his role as a strategist, he would have never been here even when he begged for it.
(...I hate this but he was right.) He clenched his fist.
He had been tired for being called "kid", being left out of everything just because of his young age. The main purpose was truly researching, but deep down he has hoped that he could prove himself on this mission.
'Venista. Are. You. Going?' A robotic voice was raised.
'I told you not to suddenly speak up like that.'
That voice belonged to a Mechon in the corner of the room. Typically a Mechon can't talk, but this Mechon somehow seemed different. It refused to hurt any Homs in the Battle of the Sword Valley one year ago, so it was considered useless and supposed to be disposed of. But Venista has secretly brought him back, fixed him and modified him a little so that he could talk and feel.
'The. Attack. Is. Wrong. Homs. Don't. Deserve. To. Be. Killed.'
'I know, but what can I do?'
'This. Place. Is. Not. For. You. Too. Get. The. Hell. Out. Of. Here.'
Yeah, despite being a Mechon, its language was a little... vulgar. Venista brought him back because of its particular behavior, but after that he realized one thing.
It might treat him like a kid, but it really cared for him.
'I can't just leave if you say "leave". You knew I had my purpose.' Venista tried to convince him.
'Don't. Important. Your. Safety. Is. The. Most. Priority.'
'...' Venista didn't what to say.
'Also. I. Protest. This. Plan. There. Are. Innocent. Homs. That. Don't. Deserve. To. Be. Killed.'
'Well... Personally, I don't say that is "kill"...'
'If. You. Don't. Do. Anything. About. That. I. Will. Crush. Those. Asshole.'
'Don't! You know that I have tried my best to hide you! I can't let you blow the cover!' Venista exclaimed, his panic was showed on his words.
'Damn. It. I. Won't. Let. That. Happen-'
His voice was cut off when Venista pressed a switch on the Mechon. That was his power switch which Venista had included, he could shut him down if the Mechon started to lose control.
'Sorry. Just wait for me when I return tomorrow.' He apologized to the Mechon, though it couldn't hear anything.
He hid the Mechon in his secret basement under his room, then went out with his gun.
Actually, there was one more reason which made Venista decide to bring him back.
He had the "thing" that Venista had too.
After he went out of the fortress, he was standing in front of a big glow green fluid lake. The fluid in the lake was flowing into the fortress. This is the Ether Storage Area. The glow green fluid was called "ether", it served as the Bionis's blood and the base element of all life. The Mechon army was draining it from the Bionis for some reasons.
To talk about where he was, he was in the Sword Valley. The reason why it was named "Sword" is because this part is on the Mechonis's blade. The Battle of the Sword Valley was happening here too as the name suggested.
He walked pass the lake, then he reached to a certain big gate. This place still had the remnants of that battle, where he called "Monado Wound".
(...)
He still hadn't forgotten that face. Even if the situation had been so hopeless and the Homs army's retreat had been reported to him, the Homs who held the Monado chose to fight alone with another two Homs comrades and didn't even care the fact that the chance he could win was too low and he would have died. The resolve displaying on his face... he hadn't seen anything like this on his study.
(Resolve... huh?)
After making sure that there was no one around, he took out his handgun and pointed to... nowhere. He did this to check that particular "thing".
From the day he was born, there had been something beside him that he kept secret. Even when he spent so many years researching, what he had found was nothing. He had done everything he could until the day he found out that Mechon had that same "thing" too. He thought that he had made some progress, but actually he still hadn't known its nature, so the progress was still stuck to this day.
Out of nowhere, a blue card-shaped object was manifesting in front of him. It slowly fell into the pistol, then he pulled the trigger after shouting that "thing's" name.
'Persona!'
