Chapter 15
"Kagome?" Inuyasha mumbled as he continued to stare at the screen in front of him. His fatigue was long gone and his brain was currently clouded with confusion.
He diverted his attention to his desk and grabbed the folder he recently signed. He scanned through the pages until he stopped on a particular page.
'Model choices:Miranda Yoshida, Mai Yoshida and Kikyo Kei'
He quickly reached for the phone and dialled his personal assistant's number, he tapped his fingers on the edge of the table in frantic. 'This cannot be' he thought to himself
"Who the hell is Kikyo?" Inuyasha yelled as soon as the ringing stopped.
"If you were actually listening to me the past few weeks you would have known that she is one of the choices we have to be our model. You kept rejecting every single models we suggested to you. Those 3 ladies are the only best choices we have. Did you sign the contract yet?" Kaede said with a hint of annoyance
"What is her real name?" Inuyasa asked in a more gentle manner
"It didn't say. Wait let me check" sound of typing and rustling was heard and she spoke again on the other line
"Her personal records are all kept in private" she replied.
Inuyasha grabbed the remote and pressed the pause button and stared at the screen once cannot be mistaken. She is finally back.
'Kagome' he whispered
"I want to meet Kikyo Kei tonight. I choose her as our next model" he said with all seriousness

After getting a confirmation call from Kaede he headed down to the mall nearby. He needs to get her something at least, this will be the first time seeing her after 4 years.
His train of thoughts were cut short when he suddenly bumped into a figure. He is so out of it tonight. With a fast reflex he was able to hold onto her before she fell on her back. Inuyasha quickly said his sorry, after not getting a reply ,he squatted down on her level and followed her line of vision. A scoop of rocky road ice cream is laying on the floor, melting on tiled floors by the second.
"I am sorry about the ice cream. Do you want me to buy you another one?" He asked
She looked up and stared at his eyes "I am sorry but my mommy told me not to talk to strangers" she said in a hushed voice
A smile formed on Inuyasha's mouth as he stared back at the little child's golden eyes. She is beautiful, her long wavy black hair framed her porcelain skin perfectly. "I am a nice guy though" he replied
The child looked back to the fallen ice cream and back to him. She still was hesitating whether its a good idea or not. Inuyasha smiled in understanding, he patted her head and asked "Is rocky road your favorite ice cream flavour?"
The little girl nodded shyly
"Me too" Inuyash grinned at her. She eventually perked up after hearing that
"Really? I like strawberries too. Do you?" she asked
Inuyasha nodded . He snickered on his silliness, here he is in the middle of a food court talking to some child he never met before.
"How about this, why don't you stay here. I will be back" He said after getting up.
He headed to a nearby ice cream parlour and bought two cones of rocky road ice cream. He made his way back to the kid and noticed a woman joining her.
"Here you go" he bent down and gave her the ice cream cone
"I am sorry she dropped her ice cream. It was my fault so I bought her another one" he said looking up to the woman who is not mistakenly the child's guardian. Her face was full of shock.
"Oh-oh-o thank you" she said
Inuyasha ignored her reaction and focused on the little girl "May I ask your name?"
"I am Sophia" she brightly smiled
"And this is my Aunt Rin" she added while holding the woman's arm "Do you want to come with us?" she asked innocently. The woman called Rin looked terrified, she held the little girl closer to her.
Inuyasha laughed and replied "Thanks for the offer but I have to go now. I am meeting someone right now"
He bid his goodbye and left the two.
He made his way to his car after buying what he needed, he looked at the boquet of roses sitting on the passenger seat and smiled to himself.
He entered the restaurant and walked to the table on the corner, he spotted a girl sitting on the chair facing the wall. He clenched his hands in nervousness.
Millions of thoughts crossed his mind as he got closer to the table, he was thinking of what to say first. Should he say 'Hi' first or 'I missed you'.
He cleared his voice as soon as he reached her and asked "How have you been?"
his face abruptly scrunched up in annoyance. Why the hell did he say that, that was so stupid.
He composed himself after he sees her get up and face him. She looked beautiful as ever.
"Mr. Z?" she asked in confusion. He mentally slapped himself after hearing his alias. Why did he choose Mr. Z again? He could have used a much cooler name.
"Just call me Inuyasha, for old time sake" he said. Yup he is getting dumber by the minute
"Sorry I think this is the first time we met?" she said
Inuyasha arched his brows in confusion
"Kagome what are you talking about?" he asked
"I am Kikyo Kei, I think you have mistaken me as someone else" she said smiling at him
He grabbed her arm and looked her in the eye "You are Kagome, dont pretend to be someone else" he said. Even with a different name, or appearance, he knows that she is Kagome. This was the same girl he loved before.
"Where have you been all these years?" he asked
She pulled her arm away and she gently rubbed the place he held her. He then noticed his hand prints leaving a mark on her delicate white skin
She looked at him again. Her gaze changed into a fierce one "I am sorry Mr. Inuyasha. First of all I have never met you in my whole life, and second please refrain yourself from calling me Kagome. My name is Kikyo" she stated angrily
"I think you are looking for someone else, please look for another model instead" she added. She grabbed her purse and walked away.
Inuyasha gaped at her in shock. He watched her form slowly disappear from his sight.

Kagome dashed to her car, her breathing was becoming rigid and her heart was pounding against her rib cage. She opened the door with her shaky hands and sat on the chair in silence. She wasnt expecting an encounter with the guy she has been avoiding for years now. She breathed deeply as tears started falling from her eyes. She wasn't ready for this kind of situation, she never imagined a confrontation this soon.
After calming herself down she drove away.
"How did it g-" Rin's voice trailed off as she took in Kagome's appearance. Her hair was dishevel and her make up was all smudged
"I am not accepting that contract" she said
"What happened?" Rin asked "By the way I need to tell you something" she added
"I met Inuyasha today. He knew it was me. I said i didn't know him, but i don't know if he bought it. I don't know what I am going to do now" she said
She walked back and forth in panic.
"Kagome I saw Inuyasha today too. Well Sophia met Inuyasha" Rin mumbled
Kagome stopped on her tracks, her eyes widened in shock as she look at her best friend in disbelief. This cannot be happening.
"Rin how can you be so careless?"
"Kagome it was unintentional. I didn't even know how it happened" Rin explained
Kagome threw her purse on the floor. She shouldn't have been confident about coming back here. Their meeting could have been prevented if she took another precaution.
"It's alright as long as he doesn't meet her again, everything will be fine" she said in a low voice
"Dont you think you are being unfair, I think its time for him to know" Rin said
"She doesn't need him in her life" Kagome fiercely stated
"Kagome he needs to know too. Don't tell me you are going to keep this as a secret to your daughter. Sophia needs her father. Please don't take that away from her" she said firmly.
"Mommy what's happening?" Sophia asked while rubbing her eyes with her right arm. She stood at the bottom of the staircase looking at them with worries.
"Nothing baby, sorry mommy woke you up" Kagome said as she walked towards her daughter. She hugged her close to her.
She raised her daughter for 4 years on her own. She and Sophia is already happy and contented without him, they only need each other.
