The void, Time Lords and saving people.

Chapter ten:

Disclaimer sadly

Once the shock and confusion from her sudden entrance and previous dead status had subside after an explanation from the nameless Time Lady, with of course an inappropriate comment or two from Jack. The group of four realized that they were quite far away from the Doctor's TARDIS and asked her for a lift to it, she agreed after a bit of teasing and now all of them were following Jack and the Time Lady back to her TARDIS. After a few minuets of walking in silence, the group came upon a black police public call box which the masked Time Lady at, gently brushing her fingers over the door.

"A black police box?" The Doctor asked arching an eyebrow and looking at her.

She just shrugged, "he chose it and I decided to keep it, have you got a problem with it?" She asked turning to face him.

"No, no, no problem just ah-" that was as far as he got before Donna interrupted him before he started asking to many questions or start a row and loose their ride.

"No we have no problem at all," She growled out.

She shrugged again and, confusing the Group even more, clicked with both hands and the doors swung open, she quickly turned and walked up to the main console in the middle of the room, Jack following closely.

Unlike the three adults, who had already seen what a TARDIS was like, Jenny was actually quite curious as to how this small black box was going to get them anywhere, let alone fit all of them. So instead of hesitating like the others, she walked straight in after the other two.

"Whoa," she breathed as she turned around slowly, looking round the large slightly dim room in awe, she looked over to the two at the console "it's bigger on the," she said excitedly.

This made them stop what they were doing and turn to her, the man, Jack, was looking at her quizzically and she was pretty sure the masked woman was sharing the look.

"Yeah, of course it is, like all TARDIS's are," Jack said.

"A what?" She asked confused.

"You know, a TARDIS, T-A-R-D-I-S, time and relative dimension in space, you came with spiky over there," she said and motioned to her dad as he entered with Donna and Martha, "he's got to of at least explained the basics to you."

"Ah, well, you see..." She trailed off and looked at her dad helplessly.

"No actually, she didn't come with me," he said looking around slowly and walking over to her, "she came from me, Progenation, reproduction from a single organism, means one parent is biological mother and father. You take a sample of diploid cells..." he trailed off as the masked woman took over the lecture.

"Split them into haploids, then recombine them in a different arrangement and grow them at an accelerated speed for a quick and easy new sentient life form, in this case, a Time Lady, your daughter," she said while continuing to fiddle with the controls.

This made Martha giggle, Donna snort, Jenny grin, Jack bite his fist to keep from laughing and the Doctor look at her in surprise.

"I think you just got out Time Lorded space man," Donna said smirking.

"So you know of it," he said, ignoring his ginger companion.

To this the unknown Time Lady snorted, "know of it? I tried to build one, almost worked though unfortunately," she paused with a shudder, "ah well long story short, it's the reason I don't go into the lower level labs," this got some concerned looks from the group "but never mind that, energy signature of a type 40 TARDIS that is somewhere about a mile away in these tunnels, good thing you have me now off we go!" She yelled the last bit in excitement as she pushed down the final lever.

Donna, Martha and Jack all stabilised themselves and the Doctor grabbed hold of Jenny as the time rotor started moving up and down making the Vworping sound (yes Rose's TARDIS has been making that sound but only when she is actually driving it, not when she clicks it open in a shadow) but there was no violent lurching, rocking or even a slightly vibration, which confused everyone. The Time Lady flipped the same lever back up and the rotor stopped, she waved a hand towards the doors, motioning for them to go.

"Go on, out ya go, back to your big blue box, I haven't got all day," she said.

"What? We can't have, we didn't almost fall over," Donna said.

"Wait, fall over but... Oh" she said in realization and looked at the Doctor who had released his daughter and was looking at her curiously "you don't uses stabilizers do you," she said teasingly, which made Jack roll his eyes for some reason as he went back to fiddling with a bit of the console..

"What you've had them all this time and haven't used them?" Martha asked in a 'are you kidding me' tone while Donna glared at him, Jenny, missing the point completely, just looked confused.

The Doctor had a sheepish look on his face, his chucks suddenly the most interesting thing in the room and scratched the back of his neck "their boringers, blue boringers, its funner without them."

"Whatever spaceman, I'm going back to the TARDIS," Donna said and walked out the doors with Jenny and Martha following closely behind.

The Doctor though didn't at continued to look curiously at the nameless Time Lady. Truth be told, it annoyed him that he knew so little about this woman, hypocritical he knew but didn't care. How did she get trapped in the void, that's what he really wanted to know, was she was trying to cross to another universe and it went wrong? If so, she have attempted it before the war when the walls weren't closed between universes, so she wouldn't know what had happened.

This little realisation of the Doctor's made his stomach churn for two reasons, one, the explanation that wouldn't end well how ever he put it. And two, her safety, cause when the next blood thirst, power hungry empire or species who wants a Time Lord and or there TARDIS for their own gain finds out that there is another one around that is potentially less dangerous that himself, they would just about stop at nothing to capture her.

"Oi, are you going or what?" The Time Lady's brought snapped him out of his thoughts and he shook his head.

"Right, yes, sorry, um I was just wondering what you were going to do now."

"Well I have to drop this one-off," she said nodding to the Captain, "then I dunno, might hang around earth for a while, whatever come up," she continued with a shrug.

"Right then, yes good, I'll just go then," he said a touch awkwardly and walked out of her TARDIS and in to his.

He would get answers one day... Just not today, he really didn't want to have to remember that.

After dropping Jack off in Cardiff, Rose decided to go to London, gas-mask free but still keeping the coat with a grey t-shirt and dark blue jeans underneath, first going to her old home, the Powell Estate, she got a glimpse of the new owners of her old flat, someone with extremely curly blond space hair. Once she had enough of going down that memory lane, she had a wander around London for a while, spotting old friends from before the Doctor and immediately getting out of there as fast as possible.

Once she had bought what she needed, and found the Bazoolium she had given her mum in a random little second-hand shop, she when back to her TARDIS and was heading towards the time vortex so she could figure out her next move when, of course, the console went,
