A/N: I know it's been over a year since I last updated this story and I am really sorry about that. You know, life happens sometimes. I'll to do my best to update this story every weekend.
Maura was nearing 31 weeks of pregnancy. Jane woke up before Maura, quietly extricating herself from the weight she had by her side. Looking down at the blonde, she managed to have a sad smile on her face. Maura looked ever so beautiful, even when she was heart broken, even when she was crying. Jane bent and kissed Maura's honey blonde softly, before pulling her lips away and closing her eyes. She had to control the urge to run her fingers on her unborn baby, to steal a heated kiss from Maura. God! This is so hard.
Tip toeing around the family room, she made her way to the guest room to take a shower. It was a new, shitty day for Jane. So many things were going on her mind. She wanted to scream in the shower. How did her family go from a happy one to this?
She got ready but she didn't know where to go from there. It's their day off. Both Jane and Maura would be at home, not really talking to each other.
The brunette took a big breath and exhaled.
It was 9'o clock. Damn! I never woke up this early on a Saturday!
With a tank top and jeans on, she went to kitchen to make herself a cup of coffee. On her way, she noticed that Maura was not on the couch anymore. She could hear the shower running in their bedroom. The coffee pot was already on. Well, at least she is making me coffee.
Jane wanted to do something nice for her wife so she started making breakfast for her. Maura's favorite chamomile tea, with french toast and orange juice were set on a tray, ready to be taken to Maura's bedroom. Before she could touch it, her cellphone rang. She wiped her hands in a kitchen towel and answered the call.
"Hello? Ya Korsak. No, I'm awake." She was silent for awhile listening to the person on the other end.
"Do you want me come in right now?" She nodded her head to no one in particular. "Ya. I'll be there in ten." She ended the phone call and quickly wrote a note to Maura.
'Made you breakfast. Please eat. I'm going to see Korsak.' - Jane.
She left without explaining why or where she was going.
After talking a long shower, Maura waddled through her kitchen, only to find a set tray and a note next to it. There was no sign of Jane what so ever.
She picked the note up slowly from the kitchen counter. There was no explanation, no time frame, nothing to say why she wanted to meet Korsak on a Saturday, this early.
She sat the note down again on the surface, picked up the tray carefully and walked over to the dining table. It was really hard for her to sit there with the huge belly nowadays, but she was Maura Isles, and she had to follow the rules.
She took a sip of her tea, then closed the eyes to savor the taste of it. She could feel the warm liquid going down from her throat to her esophagus and the sensation made her sigh in contentment despite all the thoughts on her mind.
Maura thought back to the previous night where Jane pleaded to let her hold the blonde. She vividly remembered the pain in her wife's eyes. Jane looked so defeated. The M.E didn't really understand what was going on with her wife. Jane didn't talk to her anymore. She only uttered words, if they were absolutely necessary.
Maura knew that Jane was trying so hard to fix everything they lost and she knew that her wife was giving her the space she asked for, but at the same time, the lanky detective made sure to take care of her pregnant wife.
Jane was hardly at home. She was pulling double shifts. Maura heard from Frost that the brunette stayed at BPD even when they didn't have a case to solve. She was not getting any sleep. It was hard on Maura too to see her wife destroying herself before her eyes.
Even when Jane was very closed off, she had sent her mother or her brother to check on the blonde, to make sure that she was eating properly. Hell, she even sent Frost once downstairs to morgue with Maura's favorite dish that Jane could hardly pronounce.
On the other hand, Angela was not telling her anything about the detective. Whenever she asked how Jane was doing, Angela would simply change the subject or say that her daughter was fine.
The M.E knew that her wife was not fine and Angela didn't want to break the promise she made to Jane. Everyone avoided the big elephant in the room and it didn't solve anything.
Maura sighed again still sitting on the uncomfortable chair the at dining table. Nothing seems comfortable anymore. She thought to herself and her mind drifted to that morning events.
Jane left her alone and they didn't get a chance to talk about the previous night they spent on the couch, tangled together. She woke up to find empty spot next to her, and her back was killing her due to spending hours on that monstrous couch, not really having enough space to move around.
The guess room's door was wide open and she was sure that Jane was still in the house because the shower was running for quite awhile now. She tried hard to turn on her side to get up slowly. She kept a protective arm on the belly and she could feel the baby moving restlessly.
The M.E smiled to herself. The baby was growing every single day, a strong one just like her Mama. Jane!
The smile vanished from her face as she got up to put the coffee pot on for her wife. It was a spontaneous action she did everyday for Jane. After becoming pregnant, Maura stopped intaking any kind of beverages that contained caffeine. Jane wanted to stop too for her wife because she thought it was only fair if she refrained from things that Maura was not allowed to do or have, but Maura insisted that Jane didn't have to sacrifice anything for her.
So, everyday Maura made coffee for Jane, just to show that she really meant what she said and as a gesture to show appreciation for the love Jane had for her and their baby.
After setting the coffee machine, she couldn't control the urge to pee. It was a miracle that she slept through the night without waking up to use the bathroom. Can anyone blame her? It was the first night after the incident, she was in Jane's arms. She fell asleep right after Jane pulled her toward her thin body.
Maura left the kitchen and went to their bedroom, to use the bathroom. She wanted to shower. Damn, she wanted to remove the dress she was wearing from yesterday. She couldn't protest when Jane asked to join her on the couch. She didn't even think about changing.
Now, she stood there, naked under the shower while the hot water caressed her sore body. Nine more weeks, then there would a tiny human being in this house. She touched her belly softly. She could see the baby physically moving. She wished, oh she only wished that Jane could be there with her wrapped around her body right now.
There was a tingling sensation in her lower belly. The familiar ache didn't go away even when Maura was willing herself to not think about her Jane.
Her right hand trailed down to south while her left was planted on the wall to steady herself. She ran a finger through her folds and gasped. It's been a while since she had intimacy. Suddenly she dropped her hand and started to cry.
No, this is wrong.
