Hi to everyone
I am sorry. I think that I delayed with the update of this fic. I always try to update regularly my three fics, however, I think that I made a mistake and I forgotten to proofread this chapter.

I know that some of you really want that the chapter of the Lake come. Well, here you have it. In this moment I plan to write three chapter about it. This is the first one and, I have to say that I am really proud of some parts.
I hope that you like and let me a review with your opinion and what could happen in the next two chapters.
Just, one last thing. Some days ago, I published a new chapter of "Let her go" and I think that there was a mistake since I always received an e-mail saying me that the chapter was published. However, this time I didn't receive any. So, I am not sure if you know it or not.

Chapter 12: A long weekend in the lake (Friday)
Matt was finishing of putting in his handbag a few items, when Gabby entered in his bedroom. Although, she finished of packing his luggage last night while he was sleeping, there were a few things that she didn't include such as his laptop.
"You ready?" she asked and sat in the bedside
"I am almost ready" he said smiling. He grabbed his laptop joins to the battery charger and he was to put them on the bag when Gabby's hands stopped him of doing.
"Don't take it with you" she said holding his arm.
"why not?" he asked confused
"you have to get away of all of this" she said referring to the letters, e-mail and phone calls that he has been receiving during the last week "Give me your cell phone?" Matt doubted first if he should do it or not but, he gave it to her. After all, she read all the messages; she know what was happening. She took off of her jeans a quite old cell phone and gave it to him "I know what you are thinking in that moment but, it is the best"
"Do you really think what I am thinking about it?" he said touching the phone like if it was an old antique.
"Yeah. You are thinking that it is quite old but at least, you can call me or text me. It is a new number and nobody know it yet thus, nobody except me, can't call you"
"Even my sister?"
"I put her number, you mother's, Severide's, Boden's and mine in the memory. You can call us whenever that you need to talk with someone. At any time"
"Ok" he said putting the phone in his jean's pocket. "Thanks. Can you give me a minute?"
"Sure" when she left his bedroom he went to one shelve and took a few books with him. It has been a long time since he sat to read a book and now, it was a good time to do it again "I am ready" he said coming down the steps.
"What do you have there?" she asked curiously referring to the books
"Nothing" and he hid the books behind his back.
"Say me that you didn't take your tablet with you?" she said concerned
"of course not"
"Then what are hiding behind your back" she was approaching to him.
"I said you. Nothing"
"Show it to me, Matthew"
"No way" he laughed. When she was near to him, she started to tickle him in his underarms making that him double up with laughter "Stop, please" he begged for her mercy; his face was red and some tears was streaming down his cheeks, some seconds later.
"Are you going to show me what you have behind your back?" she asked one more time
"No" and she continued tickling him, until he fell on the floor with her. She was on the top of him. Matt dropped the books and grabbed her body closer to his, trying to protect her of the fall
"Are you ok?" Gabby asked laughing
"Yeah, and you?" their faces were separated only by a few centimeters. Matt could feel her breath on his neck.
"Yeah" she was nervous because of their proximity; Matt's hands were resting in her lower back whilst, hers was behind his neck. The books were on the floor. Suddenly, she had the necessity of down her face and met his lips with hers. However, she didn't want that happen what happened the last time that she tried to kiss him during the Christmas party. This time, he will have to be the first one who makes a move.
He approached his face to her and kissed her in her check, really near of her lips. He stepped back a little and stared her face during a few seconds waiting to any reaction that could said that she was angry or scared of what he was doing. However, she was nervous, excited and she didn't tried to get back of his embrace; in addition, Matt could said that she hugged him tightly. So, Matt dared to kiss her one more time but, this time in her lips. Their kiss was short because it was broken by the sound of her cell phone.
"sorry" she said. Her cheeks were turning red. She felt like a teenager as well as he.
"It is ok" was all that his mind allowed him to say. He moved her body to one side and helped her to get on her feet again.
"Thanks" she said smiling shyly and walked away of him to take her cell phone.
"I kissed her" Matt's mind said. His body reacted under her touch and before that he could think about what was happening he was already kissing her in her lips. "Oh God, what did I do?" he asked to himself touching with his fingers his lips.
Gabby walked to him and looked him confused "It was my brother" she lied. In reality it was Severide who called her. He wanted to know how Matt doing was "So, are you ready to leave?" she said handing him his books
"Sure"
"Do you like read?
"Yeah. It is a good hobby and, since I am punished without internet" he joked
"Good. Now if you want we can go"
He thought that maybe she was regretting the kiss since she didn't say a word about it. He thought that maybe, she didn't wanted to talk about it; so, he didn't say nothing too. In reality, although both of them were trying to hide their feeling, they enjoyed the small kiss that they shared one minute ago. However, they were scared that the other one doesn't share their feeling.

During most of their journey, Gabby was fast asleep in her spot in companion seat. She didn't sleep so much during the last night thus, she fell asleep immediately. Matt was looking all the time to highway but, sometimes he dared to stare her during some minutes before to pay his attention to the road again.
"She is so gorgeous" his mind said "Come on, how can I think something like that about her?, she is my best friend" the other side of his mind thought "Of course that she gorgeous" the opposite side of his mind said "And you like her, if not why did you kiss her? And she didn't react in the wrong way thus, that mean that she likes you. Dammit, if it wasn't because of her cell phone, she had returned you the kiss"
"Are you ok?" Gabby asked rubbing her eyes with her hand. He was in his thought that he didn't notice that she was up and staring him during the last minute.
"Yep" he smiled shyly "how was your nap?" he asked looking to her.
"Oh God" She said ashamed "I couldn't believe that I fell asleep. Sorry, I had to be a really bad company"
"Of course not" he said looking to the road
"Whatever" she laughed "We are almost in the town" she said excited when a traffic sign indicated that they were in the Lake. "I sleep all the time" she said passing a hand over her hair " I am so sorry"
"Stop of saying that. You were tired" he pointed out. In reality, he was glad that she was sleeping all the time. if not, it would have been an awkward situation for them. He didn't know what to say in case of she asked him about the kiss. He needed to clean his mind and think about what he wanted.
"You have to stop in the coffee shop of the next corner" she pointed to the shop with her hand.
"Why?"
"Because it is where we are going to meet the landlord of the cabin to give us the keys"
"Alright. By the way, I need to use the bathroom" he smiled and added "I didn't want to leave you alone in the car while you were sleeping" she slapped him in his forearm how caused that him to laugh harder "I am sorry"
"Okay. I know the owner thus, don't worry I will get the key"
After Matt parked his truck, both of them walked out and entered in the small coffee shop. Matt went to the bathroom while Gabby waited that the owner appeared. In the meantime she bought a cup of coffee. When she walked to an empty table her cell phone started to sound.
"Hello?" she asked
"Hello?" her friend Shay said on the other side of the line "That is all that are you going to say me?"
"Shay, I am sorry. Matt needs me" she said playing with her coffee cup
"At least you could called me yesterday. It was Boden who told it to me after he said that Peter Mills will cover you during the rest of our shift and the next one" she said angry
"I am sorry. Everything happened so quick. I can't let him alone in this moment. I promise you, that in our next shift I'll tell you everything"
"even the last detail?"
"Yep"
"Even the most naughty detail?"
"oh God Shay" she said ashamed
"I didn't heard "yep"' she said funny
"ok, you have my word. Sorry I have to hang up"
"Take care"
"You too, bye" and she hang up the call and put her phone in the pocket of her jeans.
"It was your brother again?" Matt asked behind her
"No, it was Shay" she said rolling her eyes
"Is everything alright?"
"yes, nothing to worry"
"Has the landlord come yet?" he asked looking to everyone who was in the coffee shop. She shook. "Do you mind if I bought me a cup coffee? it will take me only a couple of minutes"
"of course not" and he went to the counter
"Gabriela Dawson?" a nice voice said near to her.
"Evelyn" Gabby said and rose of her chair to hug the old lady.
"It has been a long time since the last time that I saw you, dear" the old lady said "How are you doing? Are you still working as EMT?"
"Yes and everything is fine" she looked to Matt and smiled. He was on the counter waiting his order
"I guess that it is better than fine" Evelyn said looking to Matt "Did you come with your boyfriend?"
"no" she said immediately
"Oh sorry. He is your husband. I didn't see a ring in your finger. Thus, I guessed that he was your boyfriend. When did you get married?"
Gabby's checks turned red and said "We are not even engaged.
"Don't worry, honey. He is going to ask you soon. I am sure. He looks you in the same way that Bill looked me when we had your age"
"We are friend. Good friends and in this moment he is having a rough time. He needs me"
"Only friends?" she doubted "Did you come with him until here? it's 190 Miles from Chicago to this lake"
"What's weird about that?"
"Honey, a friend stays on your side as much as he or she can. But, a friend don't made a trip of 190 Miles just because someone needs you" she said smiling
"Hi" Matt said behind them
"Hi. You must to be Mr. Casey" Evelyn said offering him a hand shake
"You can call me Matt. I guess that you Mr. Johnson's wife. Nice to meet you"
"Yes. You can call me Evelyn" she said smiling "Here you have the keys of the cabin that you rented for the next couple of weeks" she said giving him the keys "If you want, you can be in the cabin more time. You just have to say it to me or to me husband. You have our telephone number, right?"
"Yes. Thanks"
"if you need something, whatever, say it"
"thanks"
"Good. And now, if you forgive me, I have things to do. I am happy to see you again
Gabriela. Say hi to you parents. Bye"
"Are you ready to go to the cabin?" Matt said playing with the keys
"Sure. Let's go"

Meanwhile in the firehouse 51, everyone was getting ready to come back home. They had just returned from a difficult call and all of them were really tired.
"Severide" Herrmann said running to Kelly
"What's up?" he said when he arrived to him
"I just want to know how is Casey doing" Herrmann met him when he started in 51 as a candidate and Matt consider him as his mentor. Now, they were friends and he trusts Casey with his life in every shift.
"You know, it is hard for him"
"I know what you mean" and he pointed to the truck Lieutenant that was covering Matt while he was on medical leave "This Lieutenant is a dick"
"You are not the only one who misses Casey" Mouch said walking to them "This guy doesn't know what to do. It has been Herrmann the one who ordered what to do"
"When is Casey going to come back?" Mills asked too "I prefer him rather than this guy"
"I don't know" Severide said. He and Chief Boden didn't tell them that they took Matt's badge while he was in the hospital. Thus, it was possible that Casey never comes back to 51 as a truck Lieutenant but, there was a chance that he wants to come back as a visitor.

One hour later that they arrived to the cabin, Matt finished of unpacking his luggage and put in the wardrobe all his clothes. Despite of his protest, he took the master room while Gabby took the other room, which was smaller.
"Have you finished?" Gabby said entering in his room and sitting in the bed
"Yep, and you?"
"Long time ago" she joked "you bring a lot of things with you"
"I plan to be here two weeks"
"You know, there is a washer in the kitchen"
"I know but, I don't like them" he laughed "I continue thinking that you should be in that room and I in yours"
"Matt I'm going to be here just one weekend. It doesn't matter. What do you want to do know?"
"I think that we can swim in the lake before have lunch, what do you think?"
"I was thinking the same" and she rose of the bed and walked to her room to put on her bikini while Matt did the same.
Five minutes later, Gabby was waiting him in the living room. She was wearing a blue shorts and a tank top; in one of her hand she had a bottle of suncream and in the other one her green towel. Some seconds later, She heard Matt coming downstairs. He was wearing a black and white swimsuit and a grey T-shirt.
"are you ready?" he asked walking to the door
"Not so fast Mister. You have to put on some suncream, if not you are going to look like a lobsters" and she approached to him "Take of you t-shirt" she ordered
"I don't need suncream" he said crossing his arms in front of his chest.
"Of course that you need it. You have fair skin thus; you can burn it easier than the rest of the people"
"Okay" he said taking off his shirt and exposing his muscular torso.
She was hypnotized as soon as her eyes made contact with his muscular torso. It wasn't the first time that she saw him shirtless, however, this time it was different. This time, something inside of her was telling that she should touch his fair and soft skin and check if it was as soft as it looked like.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah. Don't worry. I am going to apply the cream on your back while you put it on your chest" she put some of the cream in her hand and started to apply it in all his back. She was wrong; his skin was even softer than what she imagined before. "I finish" she said nervous. In this moment, all that she wanted to do was to place her lips on his shoulder and kissed him. However, she didn't do it and walked away of him. She couldn't continue doing that to her. She had to stop of loving him; it was making her so much pain. He will never be in love of her.
"me too" he said looking her. His face was covered by some white spots because of the cream making her to laugh "What it's so funny?"
"you still have cream in your face" and she finished of applying the cream in his face. Again, the same feeling that she had while her hands were resting in his shoulder appeared. She wanted to kiss him in his lips.
"Thanks" he said. For the second time in that day, their faces were really closer. Only a few centimetres separate their lips. He took the suncream bottle and said "it is my turn now"
"your turn?" she asked feeling nervous of his proximity; his bare chest was touching hers, that luckily was still covered by her tank top.
"my turn to put on your back some cream" he whispered in her ear
"Yeah" her knees were shaking when she felt his breath in her neck. She turned around and waited that he put the cream in her back. She was so nervous that she didn't realize that she didn't take off her tank top.
"I can't do it if you are still wearing your shirt" he whispered in her ear one more time. Without losing a second, he took the hem of her top and took it off over her head. During a few seconds his fingers touched the surface of her exposed skin "Much better" He could feel that she was breathing heavy as well as he was. Firstly, he put some cream on her shoulders and later on the rest of her back. "I finished" she turn around and he pressed her body against his
"Thanks. Let's go to the lake" she said grabbing him by his hand.
Hand by hand they walked to the porch and let there their towels for when they will got out of the water as well as their clothes. Matt was the first one who arrived to the water and introduced his feet to check the temperature.
"Is it cold?" she asked behind of him
"I don't know. Why not you tell me?" and he splashed her with the water
"Matt" she said when the cold water wet her. Some feet away of her, Matt was laughing "This means the war" and she ran to where he was and pushed him to the water.
He immersed in the water and reappeared some seconds later "that is all that you are going to do?" he joked and splashed her more water than the last time.
"You are going to face the consequences later, Matthew" she said entering in the water.
"Have I to be concerned about it?" he asked swimming to where she was
"Definitely" she smiling mischievously swimming far away from him but, he was faster than her and grabbed her ankle
"and, what are you going to do me?" he asked
"I am not going to tell you"
"Are you sure? You are not the only one who can made tickles"
"No way" and she pushed him, swam to the shore and get out of the water before than him could grab her "who is the faster one now?" she teased and grabbed her towel to dry herself
"Alright, you win but, just because I am starving" he said grabbing too his towel.
"Yeah, that is a pathetic excuse" and she hit him with her towel "I am going to prepar us something" and she entered in the house.

The rest of day passed really fast for them. After lunch they took a quick nap and they went to the lake again nevertheless, this time it was for fishing. Gabby, who used to see her dad and brother when they fished while they were there, had never fished before thus, Matt taught her how to do it. At the end of the evening, Gabby was able to fish some fishes but, she returned them to the water owing to they were really smaller.
"Do you have fun?" Matt asked when they were coming back to the cabin
"of course" she said smiling "I never thought that it could be so funny"
"I used to go to fish with my father when I was a teenager. We used to camp and spend all the weekend in a lake. We come back home on Sunday red like if we were a lobster because we forget to put on suncream. My mom got angry with me father but, later she forgave him because, she was sure that while I were with him nothing bad would happen to me. That was a good time" he said nostalgic
"I bet that it was" she said rubbing his shoulder "If you don't mind, I will go first to the shower. I will make dinner" she said when they were inside of the cabin.
"of course. What do you have on your mind?"
"What about mac cheese chicken?"
"Great" he said and before that she could walk to the bathroom he grabbed her by her wrist
"Matt?" she said worried when she saw that his eyes were filling with tears.
"Gabby, I don't have words to say you how grateful I am for you coming here with me" the tears started to fall down his cheeks "I don't know where I will be without you" she hugged him. He put his chin was resting in her shoulder while she made small circles in his back.
"Come on Matt, it's going to be fine" she pressed his body against her "We have a whole weekend" and she kissed his temple.
I hope that you like it this chapter and, don't want to kill me because how I ended it. I think that this was a good end but, don't worry soon is going to happen what everyone wants.
