Happy New Year! I hope that all of you have a great new year and holidays with your family.

I am sorry for the delay. Right now, I am really busy studying a lot for the two tests that I am going to have on the 21 and 26 of this month.

Besides, some days ago, on Christmas Eve, I got the flu (According to my doctor). So, during that last few days I had been feeling horrible and I have not done so much.

Because of me tests, I am not sure of when I will be able to publish the next chapter of my fic. But, I promise that as soon as I have some free time I am going to publish a new chapter. What I am doing in this moment, is writing the new chapters on my Smartphone and later send it to my laptop for proofreading (that take around one day). Thus, don't worry spite of I am going to be studying all day I will be able to work a little bit on my fics.

Chapter 17: under threat

After Boden let them came back home after a long shift, Matt was driving to his house for taking some more stuff. He wasn't feeling ready yet for being again in his house alone and by his own so, Gabby told him that he could stay in her house as long as he need. He was really glad that she offered him her house before him even tried to bring up the topic.

He entered in the house with fear, it has been two weeks since the last time that he put a feet on it. He avoided, as far as he could, enter in the kitchen not wanting to remember when he was sat on the floor with a kitchen knife pressing against his vein with the only thought of wanting to die in his mind. Thus, he went directly to the master room. He took a few more shirts, sweatpants and underwear with him. He wasn't sure of when he was going to come back home but, if there was something that he was sure was that it wasn't going to be immediately.

Before leaving for Gabby's room, he collected his correspondence and put it on a pocket of his duffel bag. He didn't want to spend unnecessarily minute inside of his house owing to he was afraid that he could end doing something bad to himself like in the past. Spite he has gained some confidence on himself thanks to Gabby and the week he spent on the lake, he was still feeling a little insecure when he was alone and over all if he was alone in his house.

After grabbing his stuff he walked to his car, started the engine and went straight to Gabby's house. When he arrived to her house he saw that her car was parked in front of the house. With a smile in his lips, he entered in the house but, Gabby was in nowhere. So he guessed that she was really tired of shift; trying not to make any noise, he went to the master bedroom and found her fast asleep under the cover. He approached to her and brushed her long brown hair before pressing his lips against her temple.

"Sleep well" he whispered tenderly in her ear.

He undressed to his underwear and climbed into bed near to her wrapping his arms around her midsection. It was good to be back at home after a long shift was his last thoughts before falling asleep.

Few hours later, Gabby woke up of her peaceful sleep and felt Matt's arms wrapped around her midsection, his head in her shoulder and his warm breath could be felt in her neck.

"Hey" Gabby murmured not sure if Matt was awake too.

"Hey" he said and gave her a tender kiss where his head had been resting until few seconds ago "Did you sleep well?"

"Yeah. And you?"

"Absolutely" He got closer her body; her back was pressed against his chest "Are you working on Molly's tonight?" He asked rolling her body for facing her

"Yeah, why?" he asked stroking his jaw

"My sister asked me to come by tonight. She wants to have dinner. Violet has a sleepover in a friend's house and Jim is out of the town in a business trip. I am thinking that maybe you can go with me. My mom is going to be there too"

"I am sorry" she said caressing the back of his neck "tonight, it's Herrmann's free night. Sorry I can't. Besides, I think that it would be nice that you three have dinner tonight as a family"

"Okay. I guess that I am a little worried and nervous of seeing them again"

"Why? You already saw your mother few days ago" she said referring to went he went to her house for giving her a surprise

"I know but...I don't know. I have a strange feeling that it is going to go wrong" he said moving his head from one side to other.

"Everything is going to be fine" she said cupping his head "they love you and they want to help you but, you have to let them to do it" he smiled and she gave him a kiss on his lips "Do you want to help me to cook lunch for us?"

"Sure"

They got out of the bed, Gabby went to Matt's clothes and grabbed one of his hoodie and put it above her head while Matt got dressed with a shorts and one of his grey CFD shirt.

"Do you want to prepare a salad, I will cut some vegetable?"

"Yeah. What are you going to cook?"

"Lasagna vegetarian" he smiled her since it was one of his favorite dishes "what is this?" She asked taking some letters from the counter

"It is from my house. When I came back, some hours ago, I was really tired and I forgot to open them" he took one of them randomly and opened it. It contained a single handwritten note. As soon as he read it he crumpled the paper and angry, he threw it inside of the garbage.

"What happen?" Gabby asked rubbing his back trying to calm him

"Nothing"

"Matt, you promised me that you were going to tell me if there is something wrong, remember?" He nodded "Talk to me, baby"

"It is from Hallie's dad again. I think that he tried to call me in the last couple of days and since I didn't picked up my phone, he decided to send me notes" he said pointing with his head to the garbage "I am tired of all if this" he said crying softly. Gabby hugged him and he rested his head in her shoulder "I want that this to stop. I don't want to continue feeling how I am feeling right now"

"How are you feeling now?" she asked worried

"I am feeling like if I was my guilty of all that is happening around me. It is possible that fifty-one has problems because of me. Hallie's family lost her because I wasn't good enough to save her life in the clinic fire"

"That is not true"

"Yes it is"

"You are a good man. And, none of this is your fault" she said caressing the skin of his lower back "do you want that I call my brother? Maybe he can do something about this. He could try to speak with Mr. Thomas"

"I don't know" he moved away of her embrace "I am sorry. I am not hungry"

"It is okay" she said smiling softly

"Do you mind if I lie down on your bed?"

"Of course not"

He smiled her and came back to her bedroom. When she was sure that he couldn't hear her, she grabbed her phone and called her older brother Antonio. There have to be something that they could do for stopping Mr. Thomas of blaming Matt of his daughter death.

After hung up his brother, who promised that he will try to do something, she went to her room and found him fast asleep; he was lying on his side, one of his hands was under the pillow and the other one between his knees.

Seeing him like that made that she remember the day in which he swallowed the pills, thus she approached to him for checking if he was alright. He had a pulse

"I am fine" he whispered

"Sorry" she said and brushed his blonde hair "I didn't want to wake up you"

"I wasn't sleeping" she sat on the bedside and grabbed his hand "What do you think that I should do?"

"I can't say you what to do, that is your decision. However, if I were you, I would speak with someone. I called my brother and if you want he can come by later"

"Thanks" he smiled grateful

"Everything is going to be fine" she said "Do you want to eat something?"

"Yeah. Do you have time for watching later a film?"

"Sure. I have sent a message to Otis asking him if he can handle Molly's by his own for a few hours and he said yes. So, I don't have to be on Molly's until 8 that is when there are more people"

"thanks" he said and gave her a tender kiss on her lip

Antonio Dawson was sat inside of his car in front of a house that according to the Police's register the owners were Phil and Margaret Thomas. He climbed out of the car and walked to the house with his partner Halstead.

"You can wait me here" He said

"Why?"

"This is something personal. If I need you, I will let you know"

"Alright" and Jay decided to wait Antonio sat on the hood of the car

Antonio rang the bell of the house and the door was opened by a five years old kid

"Hi. Is your mom at home?"

"Tommy who is it?" An old man asked coming from the living room "Det. Dawson" he said recognizing Antonio since he worked on the investigation of the clinic fire "How can I help you?"

"I want to speak with you sir"

"alright. Tommy, why not you go to the living room and continue watching the cartoon" the boy nodded and ran to the living room

"Sir, I know that you are grieving the death of your beloved daughter Hallie and, I have to say that Matthew Casey has nothing to with her death. In the coroner report, the coroner said that Hallie was dead before the fire started. Kelly Severide and the rest of the witness of the scene said that Matt did everything that he could for save your daughter. He risked his life for save her. I just want that you know it" he said and turned for come back to the car.

Mr. Thomas thought about Antonio's words; maybe he was right, Matt loves his daughter and tried to save her, but he failed because she was dead before he arrived to the scene.

After eating lunch and watch a comedy film on the television, Gabby was getting ready for working on Molly's. She was thinking what outfit she was going to wear, she want something comfortable since she was going to spent so many hours behind the bar counter.

"Do you need help?" Matt asked from the doorframe

"I don't know what to wear. After spend most of the day wearing your hoodie, I don't think that any of my clothes could be as soft and warm as it"

"I have a possible solution" he said approaching to her "You can wear other of my hoodies whenever you want. Including tonight" he whispered in her ear "however, I love when you wear this" he took of her wardrobe a black skinny pants a white shirt and a caramel color sweatshirt

"that is my favorite sweatshirt" she said taking the clothes that he chose "are you going to show up on Molly's later?"

"Yeah. I think that I can go, have a beer with the guys and later bring my hot girlfriend home"

"I like the sound of the last part" she pressed her lips against his before letting the clothes above the bed. She got him closer to her at the time that she deep the kiss

"Gabriela" he said and was going to give her a kiss when she slapped him in his arm "Ouch" he cried out

"Don't call me Gabriela. My mom called me Gabriela when I am on trouble" she said mad

"Are you still on trouble?"

"Yeah. I am a bad girl" she joked and, her words and the fact that she took off her hoodie excited him immediately. She wasn't wearing a t-shirt under his hooddie, only her black lacy bra. "I still have some minutes" she said and removed his shirt "do you want to share a shower with me?" she said seductively running her fingers around his chest and kissing his neck

"You are a little naughty" he said nervous and she bit her lower lip

"You think?" she approached to him and kissed him in his lips giving small bit on his lips driving him crazy. She smiled and continued undressing in front of him to her underwear while Matt was staring her with opened mouth. At the end, she unclipped her bra, covered her breasts and threw her bra to the floor with the rest of her clothes. Slowly, she moved away her hands of her breast and pressed her bare chest against his. She smiled him and kissed him on his neck.

"Gabby" he murmured, he could felt her warm breath on his neck and the warm of her body. He couldn't handle much more the tension that the situation was making to him, especially in his inner thigh. Her hands were travelling around his body while his didn't dare to touch her perfect mocha skin afraid of losing the little control that he was having of his body in that moment "Gabby" he said when her hand reached the bump that his shorts couldn't hide longer "Please. Stop" he said when her hand was almost inside of his shorts "I can't"

"Okay" she said ashamed of being rejected by him and ran to the bathroom.

"Oh my God" Matt murmured sitting on the bed and rested his head in his arms. He was excited and all that he wanted to do was walking to the bathroom, finish of undressing her, enter in the shower with her and make love to her like he never did before. However, he couldn't do it. He wasn't ready yet for giving the next step.

Meanwhile in the bathroom, Gabby was sitting on the toilet thinking about what she had done. She couldn't believe that she had excited him in that way. She had almost stripped down in front of Matt for arousing him, something that she never did before in front of a guy. What was wrong with her? Why she had to act like that with him? He was producing on her some sensations that she never had before with any of her ex, not even with Peter Mills. She wanted him so badly; she wanted to know the sensation of having him inside of her while he is murmuring her name in her ear.

Suddenly, the door of the bathroom was opened and Matt entered, Gabby covered her bare chest with her hands and looked away not wanting that Matt saw her crying. She was feeling pathetic for crying on the bathroom. Matt took her hands and got up her of the toilet cover, with his thumbs he dried the tears of her eyes.

"Gabby" he said softly

"I am sorry Matt. I don't want to push you to do something, that obviously, you're not ready"

He smiled grateful and looked down to her bare chest, Gabby tried to cover her exposed skin but Matt stopped her running his hands over her mocha skin contemplating her beuty "You are beautiful" he said before pressing his lips against hers tenderly "I'll make love with you but, not today. Soon" he promised resting his forehead against hers. He took a towel and gave it to her so she could cover her nudity "I am not ready" he said ashamed looking to the bump of his shorts that was saying the opposite "It is obviously that my body think the opposite and, trust me I want to do it" he joked trying to break a little bit the tension "But, I have a lot of things on my head right now and, it is not going to be fair for you. I don't want to use you for taking my mind off of my problems with Mr. Thomas. You deserve something better that what I can offer you right now. Give me some time for regroup my head please" he said and she nodded knowing that he was right. She didn't want that he do something that he wasn't ready to do yet.

"All that you need" she said smiling

"You are going to be the first one who know when I am ready"

"I hope that I be the only one" she laughed

"Of course" he smiled "I will take you to nice place"

"That would be nice"

"I will let you to take your shower. When you are done, tell me. I want to take one too"

"sure" she said and he walked out of the bathroom.

When Matt stepped out of the bathroom and closed the door, he rested his back against the wooden door. He had taken a hard decision; he had preferred to be a gentleman and waits to be ready for making love with her by the first time rather than had a screw. She was special for him and he wants to demonstrate it to her.

Later Matt decided to give a lift to Gabby to Molly's before going to his sister house for spending there a few hours with his family. Any of them say a word about what happened between them in the master bedroom.

"Hey" Matt said before Gabby's hand reached the handle of the door for opening it "See you later" she smiled and kissed her

"Later" she said walking out of the car. He could dare to say that she was still feeling a little rejected and ashamed

He walked out of the car too and walked to her side "What I said in the bathroom is true" He said "I know that I seemed distracted in the last couple of day. And when I am with you alone, I don't want to do nothing more with you than making out with you on your couch. I am sorry. Like I said, there's some stuff I'm dealing with, stuff I gotta figure out. One month ago I was with Hallie having sex in her house not really sure if I wanted to be with her. I loved her. Now, she is dead, her father is blaming me and I have you in my life. The beautiful Gabriela Dawson, an amazing woman. In some way I am feeling guilty of being happy while Hallie's family is crying their loss" he said crying

"Matt you don't have to explain yourself"

"I feel like if I don't deserve to be happy never again"

"That is not true" she said cupping his face "Maybe you should speak with someone about that, someone who can help you. Maybe you can do some group therapy"

"I will set an appointment tomorrow morning with the psychologist" he said and hugged her "I love you" he whispered

"I love you too" she said and gave him a tender kiss on his lips

They were so distracted kissing in the middle of the street that they didn't see that there was someone on the other side of the street watching them. It was Hallie's dad. After Antonio showed up in his door that afternoon, he had been thinking and he reached to the conclusion that the young detective was right. It wasn't Matt fault that his daughter was dead, it was the fault of other person.

However, after watching the former fiancée of his dead daughter kissing other woman in the middle of the street and laughing like if nothing had changed after Hallie passed away made him angry.

"You! You son of a bitch! Hey" He shouted walking straight to them while some pedestrians turned around to watch what was happening "You killed my daughter so you could be with the whore of your partner, right?" he said looking to Gabby "I am sure that you let her die"

"Phil! Just hold on!" he said putting Gabby behind her for protecting her in case that Phil tries to do something to her.

"My daughter. You let her to die"

"I understand that you're upset"

"You understand nothing! While my family is crying the lost of Hallie you are here getting laid with her"

"I am sorry" he said "I wish I could save her but..." his words died in his mouth when Phil punched him on his face.

Instinctively, Matt protected Gabby spite of his nose was bleeding and a little sore.

"Help!" Gabby shouted when Phil tried to punch Matt again on his face "Help!" She started to run straight to Molly's completely sure that there have to be some of the guys of fifty-one inside of the bar. Luckily, when she was going to grab the handle of the door, it was opened by Severide, who had heard the screams.

"Dawson" he said

"Matt needs help" and before Gabby could end the sentence, Severide together with Otis and Cruz, were running to help their friend, who in that moment was lying on the road with his hands on his head while Phil was punching him.

"Hey" Severide shouted making that Phil stopped of punching Matt in his ribs and ran to his car

"You are dead" Phil shouted before started the engine

"You okay Case?" He asked trying to help Matt to get up off the road

Matt coughed a few times and rested his hand against his aching ribs "I think so"

"Matt" Gabby said rubbing his shoulder

"you okay?"

"Yeah" she said "come inside. We have a first aid kit behind the counter"

"it is nothing" he said coughing

"I am going to give a call to me brother" Gabby said taking her phone

"No. It is not necessary. I am fine" but it was a loss battle Gabby gave to Severide the hydrogen peroxide for treating Matt's bleeding nose and walked to the where they stock the beer for calling Antonio

"Matt, he has threatened you to death" Severide said when they were alone "I know that you are trying to be brave for everyone but, it is okay to be afraid sometimes"

"Ouch" Matt said when a gauze touched his nose

"Sorry" Severide said "You are still bleeding"

"My brother is coming. He'll be here in five minutes"

"Gabby, I told you it is not..."

"Oh my God Casey" Capp said opening the main wooden door of Molly's "You have to come" he said walking to the street

What is going to happen? Has anyone an idea? What Phil is going to do? I am sorry but you have to wait for the next chapter that is when the problem for Matt is going to start.
