Chapter 19

The sound of beeping woke me up from the darkness. I felt depressed and alone, not being able to see Edward's face for so long. The bright lightness blinded my eyes. Making me flinch. Am I dead? When my eyes adjusted to the lights I saw the most angelic face starring at me in concern. If this is what heaven is like, I wouldn't mind dying. To see his face made my heart flutter.

"Bella, love?" I heard his voice. I smiled reaching out to him. But then I felt my hand twisted in clear tubes restraining my hand back. Frustrated at trying to untangle my arm. I went to go rip the tubs off, but a smooth hand grab my hand in his. "No Bella." Commanding me like I was a toddler.

"Where am I?" I whispered.

"The hospital..." His voice was hurt and soft. I tried to remember what happened. "You were in pain. I rushed you to the hospital but then you went unconscious." As soon as he said pain my hand automatically flew to my stomach. He saw my reaction and carried on. "After we got to the hospital you were still unconscious and the doctor check on the baby to see what went wrong... Apparently the,"

He took deep breaths trying to control his tears. "The umbilical wrapped around the baby's neck and the baby didn't make it. I guess the baby has been dead for a couple days." I gasps wanting to block him out, my eyes already falling with tears. "When they went to go take the baby out things went complicated. And you slipped into a coma." My hand was feeling around my flat stomach now. I felt no kick, no heart beat, no life.

I burst into tears. "This is all my fault," I cried in my hands. He wrapped his arms around me, kissing the top of my head.

"It's not your fault. Don't say that. I'm just glad you're okay, and that I didn't lose you.

"How long was I in a coma?"

"The agony of waiting for you to wake up felt like forever. You were only out for a week and a half. I was so scared I would lose you." I saw a tear escape his eye finally. I was speechless. I didn't know what to say to him. Everything has changed now. The lose of something that would have been ours is gone from me. The hurt I put him in. Everything I've done to him. My hand still rubbed my stomach amazed how flat I am now.

"Bella..." I heard another voice come from the door way. I turned to look at the girl with my blurry vision. As I tried to control myself the picture became more clear.

"Alice," I whispered. She rushed over and gave me a gentle squeeze.

"I'm so happy you're awake!" She started crying smearing her make up. I couldn't help, but to tear up a bit too. Once she calmed down she turned to Edward. "Now you, go home and get some rest. Or at least get something to eat down stairs."

"Alice No I have-"

"No! Edward you are human too, you have needs. Now go before I tell call Jasper to come get you." As I looked carefully at Edward I saw he had bags under his eyes, his skin paler then ever, his hair was a greasy mess. I nodded agreeing with Alice. Alice and I watched as he left the room hesitantly. "He never left your side. He was afraid you would wake up without him there." I smiled, I knew I was so lucky to have him. "You scared us, all of us. Everyone here came to see you."

Everyone came earlier in the day after hearing I woke up. I hugged and kissed each visitor. It was really nice to see everyone again. My whole family came, friends, including Jessica surprisingly... No one mentioned anything about the baby. Not wanting my to get upset or freak out. My mom cried when she first saw me. I could see the hurt in everyone's eyes for me. Especially Edward. He looked like he wanted to kill himself. Once people left it was just Edward and I again.

"So When can I get out?" I asked him.

"Tomorrow morning." He came over and sat on the edge of the bed, stoking my cheek. "You don't know how much I missed starring into your brown eyes." I smiled at him sitting up. I winced a little hurting down by my stomach. Edward stopped me and press the button for the bed to be at a ninety degree. Edward pursed his lips together. "I'm going to call the nurse to get you more morphine."

He got up and walked to the desk outside the room. I got the biggest nicest room in the hospital since Edward wouldn't let me be in another other room but the best one they had. I didn't want the extra attention it seem the hospital was giving me. It was only two seconds later that someone came with pain medicine.

"What about your parents have they heard?" Edward shook his head. I don't even think they knew you were pregnant. I was surprised with all the media I was sure they knew.

"Really?"

"Yes my dad is old fashion so he wouldn't believe any of them unless it came from me." In a way his dad was very smart not to listen to them. He probably didn't even want to listen to them anyways. Once the nurse gave me the morphine I started to get really sleepy. My eye lids started to drop and I yawned. "Sleep love, You need after all that's happened today. " I nodded as he bent of and pressed his lips to my forehead, then softly against my lips.

"Will you lay next to me?" He smiled.

"Of course," I moved over giving him space. He wrapped his arms around me and pushed the bed down. I fell asleep in the warmth and securer of his arms.

I saw the flashes of cameras blinding my eyes again. I held up my hand to block my face. In my other hand I held a small infant. The crowd was calling Edward and I's name. The crowd roared and cheered for us. I waved to everyone smiling, giving them what they wanted. I saw Edward father frowning at us, and his mother shaking her head in disappointment. Once we went inside the room I went to go put the little baby into its crib.
