chapter 1
It was an ordinary day for a young Hot shot a human who lived on Cybertron as part of the colonies. He loved to play sports and he had special armor meant for living on Cybertron. At the moment he was playing cube with some the bots and got tossed in the a basket. "Face it kid you are too small and you are worthless," the bot said. "You will never amount to anything," he said. "Come on guys let's go some place that doesn't stink of losers," he said.
Hot shot sighed as the bots left laughing at him. "How embarrassing but true," Hot shot said sadly as he tumbled out. "I really am worthless and will amount to nothing," he said. Then looked at his old firefighter book. "They would probably think I am worthless too and think I can't be one of them." he said.
"I doubt you are worthless," a voice said.
Hot shot turned and saw Optimus Prime. "Optimus Prime," Hot shot said. "How can you doubt I am worthless the whole universe tells me so," he said.
"Hot shot you are not worthless and I know that for a fact," Optimus said. "You just never got a chance to prove yourself." he said.
"You think so?" Hot shot asked.
"Yes I think you will work for being a member of the rescue bots academy the remaining team are human as you know and they are training young humans to become rescuers like them." Optimus said.
"I see, I always found rescue work interesting and going to earth the home of my ancestors sounds cool," Hot shot said. "I'm in," he said.
"Great follow me," Optimus said.
Hot shot followed Optimus through the space bridge. "Wow look at this place." Hot shot said.
He saw four other kids there. The girl came running up and shook his hand. "Hi I am Whirl it is nice to see someone new to start training," Whirl said.
"I am Hot shot," Hot shot said. "It's nice to meet you Whirl," he said.
"I am Hoist," Hoist said.
"My name is Medix," Medix said.
"I'm Wedge," Wedge said.
"Nice to meet you guys," Hot shot said.
"Ooh what is this?" Whirl asked taking his book.
"It's a book about firefighting," Hot shot said.
"You are a firefighting expert?" Whirl asked.
"Not really I just read and studied about it, I never really practiced it," Hot shot said.
"How can you be here and be a rescue recruit if you never practiced it before?" Wedge asked.
"I don't know," Hot shot said.
Classes had begun and everyone was starting to learn. It was time for a sim mission. Hot shot began to help he was very nervous and worried he managed to put out the fire by remembering what he read about grease fires he opened the fridge and found the baking soda and dumped it on the fire.
"Way to go Hot shot," Whirl said.
"Thanks," Hot shot said.
"Beginners luck," Wedge said.
"Good work Hot shot I am impressed the a recruit with no experience like others would know how to put out a grease fire." Heatwave said.
"Well I studied firefighting in my spare time it was one of things that interested me other than sports," Hot shot said. "It was my first time doing it in real life," he said.
"How did it feel?" Heatwave asked.
"To be honest, kind of nerve wrecking but exciting," Hot shot said. "It felt good that I did it right," he said.
Heatwave nodded and turned to the recruits. "Okay you can take a break now," he said.
The recruits were in the student lounge. Hot shot was trying to figure out what to do. "Hot shot that was amazing what you did back there you succeed on a sim on your first try!" Whirl said.
"It was incredible," Hoist said.
"Yes very impressive it is obvious you studied well on the subject." Medix said.
"All you had was beginners luck," Wedge said. "I bet you can't do other things that easily," he said.
"All did was my best," Hot shot said.
"Okay how about we stack boxes and have cleaning race?" Wedge asked.
"Okay," Hot shot said and it was on and Hot shot failed miserably.
"See all you had was beginners luck and you can't do this you can't be a rescuer and save lives you are worthless and everyone knows it," Wedge said.
"Wow just when I thought I found a place where I could finally have friends they think I am worthless to I guess better leave and since I can't go back to Cybertron where they think that to I guess I better find a place where I matter," Hot shot said and left.
"WEDGE!" Whirl, Hoist, and Medix said.
"What did I do?" Wedge asked.
"You made him feel bad that's what," Whirl said.
"What is wrong with telling the truth?" Wedge asked.
"You hurt his feelings," Hoist said.
"Wedge did you hear what he said from what I can tell he already has low self esteem," Medix said. "He just wants some friends," he said.
"I think Hot shot doesn't have a friend in the universe," Whirl said. "Wedge you of all people should know what it is like to be hurt and to feel all alone like you don't have friend in the universe," she told him.
Wedge remembered back on Cybertron how a lot of the kids used to beat him up and call him names. "You really hurt him, you should apologize," Medix said.
"Your right I shouldn't have said those things." Wedge said. "I remember how much it hurt," he said.
"Yes and remember we are all new at this we are no different from him," Medix said. So they went to look for Hot shot.
Hot shot was sitting by himself feeling alone. "Hey why are you all by yourself?" he heard. He turned and saw an older human boy. "I am Cody Burns," Cody said.
"I am Hot shot," Hot shot said. "I came here to kind of be alone," he said.
"Well sometimes we all want to be alone," Cody said. "You look kind of upset did something happen?" he asked.
"Well Whirl, Hoist and Medix complimented me on my good job at doing well on our very first sim mission which was a firefighting one and Wedge said all I had was beginners luck and challenged me to contest and I failed big time and he said it was beginners luck is all I had, I can never be rescuer and I can never save lives and that I am worthless and everyone knows it. I have been called worthless by many all my life, they don't know how much it hurts, I just want others to see that I am someone who is worth while you know," Hot shot said.
"I know how you feel, before the rescue bots human crew came I felt the same way, I felt like I didn't have a place in a family of heroes, but when I helped the save the day and began showing the about the home of their ancestors I found my place. Sometimes it takes a little time," Cody said.
"I sure hope so," Hot shot said.
"Cody is right young Hot shot, sometimes others can be mean with their words without considering how it may make someone else feel. I believe Wedge just got upset that you did well on your first sim without much worry or practice before you came to the school, so it must of made him a little envious." Optimus said.
"I never thought about it like that." Hot shot said.
"He's right I shouldn't have said that to you, it was a terrible thing to do, I am so sorry Hot shot, can you ever forgive me?" Wedge asked.
Hot shot thought for a minute. "Of course I forgive you," Hot shot said.
"Thanks Hot shot, I just forgot how much it hurt to be made fun of." Wedge said. "I hope we can be friends," he said.
"I think we are friends now," Hot shot said. The two of the shook hands.
"Looks like that has been smoothed over," Cody said.
The recruits were talking and wondering what the school year had in store for them. It sure was exciting they were looking forward to it and were looking forward to learning together as friends and becoming a team.
To be continued.
