"Get away from me!"

Archer was clueless. Sam didn't seem to recognise him at all; in fact she seemed hell bent on getting away from him as fast as she could. More to the point why was she wearing a lab coat and acting as though she worked for these freaks?

"Sam? It's me, Archer, the soldier you guys met when you were on the run from these guys last time. Don't you recognise me?"

"I've never even met you before!" Sam shouted, backing away from him.

"What have they done to you? Why are you working here?" Archer asked, taking a step towards her.

"What the hell are you talking about?!" Sam shouted.

"Sam, look, I don't know what they've done to your head but we need to get out of here, fast. I look out six guards on my way out of this place and they'll be more turning up here any minute. I'll explain as we run, ok?" Archer said, holding out his hand for her to take.

"I have no idea who you are! Please, just leave me alone!" Sam shouted.

"I'm not leaving without you!" Archer replied, walking towards her.

"You're going to have to! HELP!" Sam shouted at the top of her lungs.

"I have no idea what's going on here but Sam… listen to me, listen to my voice. Is there anything about these men that you don't trust, something about them that doesn't add up? If there is then that's because you can't trust these freaks!"

For a moment it appeared as though Archer was having a breakthrough, for Sam was appearing to consider his words, but his victory was short lived.

The next few seconds felt like hours to Archer. As he had predicted several, more like several dozen, guards suddenly turned up, hitting archer over the head and knocking him to the floor. He pretended to be unconscious so he could listen to whatever they were about to say or do to Sam and intervene if necessary.

"What do we do with her?" One of the men asked the man in a tall suit standing slightly away from the rest.

"I can't risk her being corrupted; take her to the cells along with him." He said curtly.

Upon deciding that the best time to strike was not when surrounded by what sounded like half the base Archer stayed limp and allowed the soldiers to carry him to the cells was. He tried to make note of the twists and turns they took on their way but after a few minutes he lost track, and soon found himself thrown onto a dusty floor in a dimly lit cell, Sam lying on the floor beside him after being shoved in.

"Hey! Wake up!" Sam hissed, shaking Archer.

"I was never unconscious." He replied, sitting up and staring around him.

"Is this a prison or a cave?" Archer muttered, as he stared at the earthy, rugged walls and listened to a dripping sound not far off form where they were sitting.

"Both," Sam replied, "This base is built into a cave."

"We need to get out of here." Archer stated, getting to his feet and scanning the walls for any sign of weakness.

"It's not going to be that simple." Sam said, standing up also.

"Why not?" Archer asked.

"For one thing the entire compound is heavily guarded, you'll be shot before you make it out of here, and for another I'm going to make sure you don't go anywhere." Sam stated.

"What are you talking about?"

"You are the reason I've been thrown back into this hell hole. If you'd just let me do my job and hadn't interfered I wouldn't have gotten thrown in here!" Sam shouted.

"I'm the reason?! Sam do you have any idea who these people are?" Archer yelled.

"They're fighting against injustice, trying to make the world a better place!" Sam snapped back.

"They are the injustice! They're the reason you and I are even having this conversation!" Archer retorted.

"What the hell does that mean?" Sam asked with a look of disbelief on her face.

"Sam if I told you the real reason you're in this situation you'd probably lose it." Archer replied, still scanning the room.

"Try me."

"I'd really rather not." Archer said, pausing to look at her.

"Why?" Sam asked, throwing her arms wide and glancing around their prison, "Got somewhere to be?"

Archer sighed and turned to face her once again before replying.

"You know what Sam? Fine. You are a doctor in the UK, you worked at a hospital that got blown up and lost your memory, you later gained that back. You have a friend named Zoe, your former boss, and you had a boyfriend named Tom Kent. You guys travelled over here to stop the guy who killed your brother, the guy you are currently working under, and in the process he somehow made it look as though you were killed in yet another explosion. Up until today you appeared to have been working under the man you swore to kill a few months ago and have lost your memory yet again. How exactly that happened you are going to have to fill me in on."

Sam stared at Archer for a full five seconds before collapsing.

Thanks for the reviews guys :)

I'll update again in the week.
