Chapter 26
My feet stood cemented on the ground. My eyes grew big. The silence felt like forever. The only person I could look at was Edward starring straight at me. The silence broke when I heard whispers in the room. I slowly started to walk down the stair case on the right. The clicking of my heels on the floor kept the tempo. Once I got to the main floor everyone went back to socializing. The crowd grew thick, and I was unable to see Edward anymore. Then I saw him looking for me. Excusing himself through all the people before reaching me. Suddenly I felt a pair of arms wrapping around me. I jumped turning around to Edward.
"You're here, with me in my arms," He smiled holding me tighter.
"I wouldn't miss your engagement party for anything," I laughed a little at my own joke. He frowned, while taking my hands swaying to the rhythm of the song. He bent down with is lips right next to my ear. His cold breath gave me chills down my spine.
"Yes, but I wish this was our engagement party. " I loved how he emphasized on the word our. He still held me close to him while we danced. We didn't say much to each other, we just starred in each others eyes. "Do you want to go in the garden for some privacy?" He whispered. I nodded at him. He took my hand and led me out the door. I followed trying not to trip on my dress.
"Won't anyone notice you're gone?" He took my hand leading us further into the garden. Kind of like a maze but roses instead of corn. He quickly came to a halt and turned around. I stopped and starred at him confused to why he has stopped. He gently cupped my into his hands.
"I missed you," He said into my eyes. "I missed you everyday, every minute, every second. I was stupid and I was wrong what I did to you." I put my index finger to his lips. "Shh..." I softly made the sound through my teeth. He looked at me for a moment then bent down to press his lips to mine. I felt the electric spark go between us as it always did when we kissed. His lips were excited and his hands moved down my body stopping at my waist. I kissed him back passionately. Not wanting to let go. But my lunges were suffocating forcing me to break away, out of breath. He smiled looking down at me.
I looked down upset. "What's wrong?" He brought my face up with his finger under my chin.
"Why haven't you came after me?" He starred at me take back.
"I didn't know you wanted me to."
"I mean did you stop..."
"Stop what?"
"Stop loving me..." I whispered at the end.
"Of course not. " He took my hands in his. "I've always loved you and always will. I wrote you everyday for a year. But you never responded,"
"I know... I never got them." I didn't want this to turn into talking about Jake. He stayed quiet for a moment. "We better get you back inside your fiancee will wondering where you are."
"Last time I checked she was with a bunch of her friends." He held is arm out at a right angle to escort me into the ballroom. He kissed me one more time before going inside the ball room. As always leaving me breathless.
"There you are, I've been looking all over for you," Princess Tanya came to us pulling Edward away. "Your father would like to talk to you again..." She smiled.
"Ugh I sure hope it's not about our behavior at the tea party." Tanya laughed, which sounded like charms.
"You better go before we both get a lecture," Edward hugged her tight and she kissed him on the cheek back. As soon as Edward left Tanya faced towards me.
"So you're the famous Bella..." She grinned. I nodded and curtseyed for her. "Oh please... don't. Come have a drink with me." She dragged me to a table. "In the beginning I've heard so much about you. You are as beautiful as he said. you are." She paused and asked someone to get us drinks. I couldn't tell if she was lying or not. "I was wondering why he stayed so long in America."
"What happened yesterday at the tea party?" I blurted out. After I felt bad because it wasn't any of my business.
"Oh, We were doing an interview and had an after tea party, but Edward and I went off by ourselves and had a little fun," She winked at me. I quickly looks away from her.
"So you actually really him?"
"Yes, I do. I mean at first I wasn't all for the whole arrange marriage thing. I felt like I was just a toy to use to have a full royal blood child. I didn't feel like I fit in. I built a wall trying to block people out by being bitchy. Then Edward actually started talking to me. We've been dating for almost a year now. He's changed me really. I feel better around him. He makes me want to be a better person." I smiled weakly at her.
She was in love with him... Just like me.
