Aprils Dress link is in my bio.
April sprays her messy updo with hairspray; her hair wasn't going anywhere tonight. She slips her pink heels on and walks out to the kitchen. Jackson's back is facing her, she smiles at the sight of him in a suit.
A ball of red hair runs up to her and jumps in April's arms. "Momma you look bewtiful!"
"Thank you, where's your brother?"
Rose smiles at her mother. "He's with Gwandma Kepner. Thomas!" Rose starts to shout loudly. "Gwandma Kepner!"
"Rosalie Arizona Avery, don't yell in the house." Seven year old Thomas walks out with Karen Kepner and Jackson takes Rose out of April's arms. "Ok, you have all the numbers? We'll be back late so you don't have to stay up."
"Honey, just go! Have fun." April nods and gives her kids kisses while Jackson drags her out the door. They climb in the car and Jackson admires how beautiful his wife looks, especially the slit that went up her leg. He leans over and kisses her deeply before driving off. They are greeted with a white carpet and they walk hand in hand into the hospital.
This fundraising gala was very different from the last one. This was more Jackson Avery. There were no circus acts, but still an open bar. There were white and blue roses on podiums and on tables, that had things to be bid on. Blue lights glowed on the wall and twinkle lights were on the ceiling. For entertainment, a local singer and a piano player.
April smiles at Jackson, proud that her husband organized all of this. "I love it! Jackson, it's beautiful!"
"Yeah?" He glances at her nervously, "Better than when the circus came to town?"
"Much better, even though I was only at that gala for five minutes." April grabs two glasses of champagne from the waiter walking by.
Jackson grabs a glass from her and takes a sip. "What do you mean?"
"Oh, I forgot you don't know. Me and Arizona kind of got drunk in a storage room and skipped the whole fundraising thing." Jackson laughs at her and doctors begin to show up.
Soon the whole room is filled and April charms as many people she can. "Dr. Kepner." April turns at the sound at her name and stares at the person in shock.
"Dr. Stark? How are you?"
The older man walks up to her and smiles, "I'm good. So I assume you went with Neuro?"
"No. I actually went with trauma." He looks surprised, she probably was an excellent trauma surgeon. "Are you bidding tonight?"
"Probably-" Jackson comes up behind April and smiles at his wife, they haven't seen each other in the past hour. "Avery, looks like all of you stayed."
Jackson shakes his head and puts an arm around April's waist. "I couldn't think of a better place."
Stark takes note of their closeness. "So are you two together?"
"Yep, married for seven years now, we snuck up on each other."
Robert looks at them with surprise. "Congratulations!"
Catherine catches his mother head and he and April turn to go. "It was nice seeing you again."
"You too."
Jackson makes a little detour and they end up in the on call room. Jackson kisses April deeply and starts to pull down the zipper of her dress. "Jackson, what about your mother and the gala."
"We'll be quick."
Twenty minutes later Jackson and April emerge from the on call room. Her hair is down. His tie is crooked. Her heels are on the wrong foot and they grab a glass of champagne while smiling like teenagers.
