Chapter 13

It was the early afternoon; a week after the concert and the 26 year old Mutou was sitting upside down on his couch along with Yugi watching TV. Though the uproar from a week ago brought more attention upon Atem, he tried his best to stay with his brother. When Atem woke up in the morning to his phone vibrating and when he picked it up, he saw that it was a message from Anzu saying that she will go check up on them later after she leaves the office. This encouraged Atem to clean around until the afternoon came, also for the fact that they were having a Christmas eve party, where he and his brother sat watching TV with the blood rushing to their brains. Two o'clock hit and Atem's cell rang out making Atem jump and fall flat on his face from fright. Yugi on the other hand jumped and ran to the phone as fast as his little legs could carry him. Atem sat up and groaned while rubbing his now red face from the fall.

"Yugi… who's calling?" he groaned. The little guy giggled and smiled brightly.

"Your girlfriend." he said cheekily. Atem went wide eyed and blushed as he blinked rapidly.

"G-girlfriend?! I- I don't have one!" Atem lost himself for the moment trying to defend himself against a six year old. He spent that moment contemplating on what Anzu was to him and when he regained his composure he noticed Yugi was already talking to Anzu! Atem almost passed out but just sat wide eyed and listened to what Yugi was saying.

"Mmhmm! He's here and all sweaty." Yugi giggled. This time, Atem fell on his back, pale faced and groaned in embarrassment. "You wanna talk to him? Ok!" Yugi walked slyly over to his fallen brother and held the phone over his face. "Atem, your girl-" Atem snatched the phone away before Yugi could even finish. He waved Yugi off and cleared his throat before speaking.

"Hello," he said normally. Atem heard a giggle at the other end and his heart started to race.

"What's this about you being sweaty at two in the afternoon?" she asked coyly. Atem scoffed and covered his eyes with his free arm.

"Let's just say Yugi hit a nerve." Atem groaned again making Anzu giggle.

"Did that nerve happen to have anything to do with Yugi calling me your girl?" Atem went wide eyed and his pulse rate sky rocketed.

"Uh… n-no… w-what?" Atem started babbling on and Anzu started to laugh.

"Atem remember, I am your friend and I am a girl." Atem blinked in confusion for a moment but then realized how ridiculous he was being and laughed.

"Right," he sat up. "So what's up?" Anzu sighed.

"Well it's been a week and I haven't seen my little buddy in a while." Atem smirked.

"Oh so this is about Yugi?" Anzu snickered.

"Yup,"

"Then why give the phone to me?" he asked smugly. Anzu scoffed.

"Is it wrong wanting to talk to my boy?" Atem blushed deeply but heard Anzu giggle to herself. "I wanted to know if you and Yugi wanted to come by today. I'm sure he would love to look around. Then after we could grab a bite to eat then go to your… uh 'house'." Atem's blush subsided and a smiled formed on his face, along with some chuckling.

"Sure! When do you want us to go?" Atem stood up and walked towards the windows.

"Hmm… I guess now since I have a meeting later before I go." Atem was dumbfounded for a second but then smirked.

"Sure, I'll be there in a bit with your car." Atem said that last part with a pause before each word. Anzu sighed and it sounded like she sat back in her chair.

"You know what, since you love my car so much, you can have it." Atem went wide eyed.

"R-really?!"

"Mmhmm! All yours!"

"Alright! Expect a hug from me when I get there Anzu!" Anzu laughed and hung up leaving Atem doing a little victory dance of some sort. Little did he know, Yugi walked cutely into the living room.

"So are we gonna see Anzu?" Atem almost jumped out of his skin and looked at Yugi with a blush.

"Yugi I told you to not scare me like that!" he scolded. The young Mutou simply stuck his tongue out.

"Can't blame me if I just brought you out of cloud nine." Atem's eye twitched but took a deep breath instead of yelling.

"Just… go get ready… we're going to go see Anzu." Yugi raised a brow.

"I thought she was coming here."

"She has a meeting and won't get out until really late, so she wants us to go now." Yugi jumped for joy and ran to his room to change out of his light blue, star decorated pajamas. Atem watched him go as a gentle smile formed; he shook his head with a light chuckle and went off to get his shoes and coat.

It was as cold as ever, especially for downtown Manhattan, which is exactly where Anzu Mazaki was. At the top of Shooting Star corp. was the massive office of the so called "ice queen". She stood at the windows of her office and looked down on the city. The people, the cars, the busses, all things she could see but they could not see her. As far as the saying "two sides of the same coin" goes, it does not apply here. She is not them, and they are not her. But lately she has been feeling… at ease. Of course she knows why. The Mutou's have started a domino effect that is almost like Russian roulette at the end. Anything can happen, especially now that Seto Kaiba has entered the fray.

"If I don't stop this… someone will get hurt…" she whispered to herself. She knows that she was supposed to go to Atem's later but wanted to talk to him now. She has to nip this problem in the bud. Anzu sighed and returned to her chair. "If I'm not able to perform my duties as head C.E.O, no one will be able to run this place…" Anzu's heart started to beat rapidly so she clutched her shirt as she gritted her teeth. "Come on Mazaki, you can do this." Then she started to think… she called Atem 'her boy'. Anzu went wide eyed and blushed. "WHY DID I SAY THAT?!" Anzu whined and fell into her leather chair. She basically slammed her head onto her desk and groaned. "I'm such an idiot…" Anzu sighed and lifted her forehead up so her eyes were peeking out. She saw her laptop and noticed she got another audition video. She scrolled over to it on the mouse pad and played it. It was a girl, average height, about 12 years old, and she said she's going to sing. Anzu scoffed, "Typical…" The girl said she'll be singing a Beyoncé song. "Again, typical, let me guess… Halo right?" The girl in the video said she'll be singing 'Love on Top'. Anzu sat straight up with interest. "Good luck kid, that song needs a lot of passion to sing correctly." In the video, the girl moved to the center of her room and bowed before anything, saying thank you for taking time to look at the video. Anzu chuckled, "Innocent child…" The girl played the song and the girl started to snap her fingers and sway from side to side. This little girl may have been 12 but she sang like she was in her 30's! "Hmm, a little pitchy… but that's easily fixed." Anzu caught herself tapping her foot to the performance and even drumming her fingers on her desk to the beat. Next thing she knew she was mouthing the words too! "I can see the stars all the way from here…" Her mind started to go elsewhere… thought this child had a good voice, Anzu imagined it was actually Beyoncé singing. She closed her eyes as her imagination took hold of her. She imagined she was outside, at night, the moon was lighting up the night sky along with the stars as she danced the night away with someone. "You put my love on top… You're the only thing I see…" She criss-crossed her legs and after swayed from side to side with the beat. Then her mystery man held her close as they danced together. At this point, Anzu was singing and dancing in the real world and also in her fantasy world. But just when the song ended, she kept going (A/N o.o she on that good fruit and apple juice…) and in her fantasy world, the moon shined brighter enough to see who was with her, Anzu spun around and landed on her mystery man's chest and looked up to see his face. But when she did, she felt like hiding under a hole… it was Atem.

Anzu got shocked out of her fantasy world and when she did she was confused, she could have sworn she was in her office, but couldn't see her office. All she saw was a… Anzu blushed realizing what's happening. She then heard chuckling and looked up and saw Atem.

"Hey, I told you I'd give you a hug when I got here." He winked at her and her blush increased. She pushed him off her, heart racing, face completely red, and mainly pissed.

"H-how long…" Atem chuckled.

"I just walked in when you spun into my arms like that. Must have been a good song you were listening to if you were lost in another world." Anzu looked to the side and pouted. Atem chuckled again. "Oh come on, it wasn't my fault you were that happy, unless you were thinking about me of course." Anzu cringed and her blush became so bad that steam puffed from her face.

"I don't recall you being so coy…" she said unevenly. "Where's Yugi by the way?" Atem sighed.

"He said he'll come after he gets a bite with Saki." Anzu raised a brow and tilted her head to the side.

"Is there something wrong with that?" Atem rubbed the back of his head.

"Well… no, but he's been acting weird ever since you called." Anzu giggled and made Atem look at her in curiosity.

"Well if I remember correctly, you were the one sweaty and red." It was now Atem's turn to blush and he fidgeted awkwardly. Anzu giggled again and pinched his cheek in which he groaned. He took her hand in his to get it off his cheek but blushed more once he felt her hand.

"No touchy." Anzu pouted.

"No fair…" Atem smirked and chuckled.

BUZZ

Anzu's intercom went off and she groaned. She went to her desk and pressed the button to answer, it was Tadao.

Miss Mazaki, your meeting has been rescheduled." Anzu furrowed her brows.

"To when…?" she asked cautiously. Tadao cleared his throat.

"Um… five minutes…" Anzu went wide eyed and looked at Atem who was also in shock.

"Are they here yet!?"

"N-not yet… oops, they just arrived. The elevator is opening now." Anzu wanted to curse out everyone listening but decided to stay calm.

"Ok, just stall them for a minute."

"But Miss, what about At-" Anzu interrupted him.

"I'll handle it." Anzu hung up and grabbed Atem's hand, pulling him to the wall. "Ok, you have two minutes to change." Atem raised a brow.

"Excuse me?" Anzu smirked.

"You're excused." Atem facepalmed but couldn't help but laugh. Anzu let go of his hand and opened a door, a walk-in closet was inside. Anzu walked in and turned on the lights, looking for what to give him. "Ahh, here it is." Anzu took a hanger with a zipped up tux in it and handed it to Atem. "I'll be waiting back in the office, change quickly. Make sure the hat fits too. Oh and your name for the meeting isn't Atem, it will be…" Anzu tried to think of a name but Atem beat her to it.

"Yami?" Anzu looked at him like he was Albert Einstein.

"Brilliant!" She kissed his cheek and quickly left to prepare her papers, leaving Atem with a kiss mark on his face, and a completely dazed look.

Anzu went to her desk and gathered her papers.

"Ok, I'll need the student percentage increase rate papers, I'll need the workers percentage… what else…?" Just then the door of the walk-in closet opened. "Atem?" Anzu put her papers down and looked up, only to be looking at the embodiment of drop dead gorgeous! Her heart almost jumped out of her chest and back from what she saw. There he stood, Atem Mutou, in a black suit that fit his body to a T. His broad shoulders making his presence amplified while in the suit, his black pants that showed no wrinkles nor showed any imperfections, but his chest, it was easy to see he had gone to the gym frequently because his pecks were the first thing she could see on his slender yet muscled body. What made it worse for her was the hat, it covered the top three spikes of his hair but left the four little ones free in the back and his bangs, the two large ones in the front caressed his cheek perfectly while the other two jutted backwards, as usual, but with the hat it made them look more perfect. One thing really through her for a loop however,

"I found these glasses, does this help?" Atem was wearing mini-square glasses that made him look very… intelligent. Anzu swallowed hard and tried to open her mouth to speak but she was too surprised.

'I… I can't talk…' Atem pulled back his sleeve to look at his watch.

"We have one minute in counting. So shall I be your consultant when the others see me?" Anzu simply nodded and carefully sat in her chair. Atem blinked in confusion but shrugged it off and went to stand next to Anzu. Once he was close to her she cringed.

'He just… had to wear cologne too… didn't he?' Atem raised a brow and put his hand on her shoulder.

"Are you feeling alright?" Anzu cringed again from his hand and took a deep breath.

"D…ah…b…pfffff…" Anzu covered her blushing face and Atem stood there shocked.

"A-Anzu?! What's the matter?!" Anzu rubbed her forehead with her right hand while her left hand was on the keyboard to her laptop. "Anzu please don't tell me you're nervous." Anzu gave Atem an annoyed look.

"I'm not nervous…" she finally said in correct English. "I was… shocked…" Atem blinked in confusion again.

"By what?" Anzu covered her face again.

"Don't worry about it. Just… pull up a seat next to me ok?" Atem looked around the room but didn't see any seats, not even a table. Just before he spoke up, Anzu flipped a switch under her desk and a conference table emerged from the now opening floor. Atem watched in amazement only to hear Anzu sigh. "Another day…"

"Another dollar." Atem finished, which made Anzu laugh a little. Just then, the men entered the room and began to take their seats. Atem did what Anzu said and picked the chair closest to her. Before anything happened, Anzu passed him a note.

DO NOT SPEAK UNLESS SPOKEN TO!

Atem sweat dropped but nodded to her anyway. The table extended all the way to Anzu's desk meaning she didn't have to move, but all the others did. Anzu rose from her chair, carefully, and said,

"Welcome gentlemen, thank you for coming here today and I hope we all reach an agreement. This is my consultant, Yami…" Anzu tried to think of a last name.

"…Yugi…" Anzu blinked and looked at Atem. "Yami Yugi is my name." The other men greeted him without question and sat down. Anzu sighed and just moved on.

"Alright, so what's the agenda on today boys?" the man closest to her on the other side of Atem opened his briefcase.

"Well ma'am," he took out some papers. "Over the past year, student enrollment has gone up almost 100%." Anzu nodded. "But, we lack the money to hire more teachers, and we do not have a stable curriculum." Atem was shocked. And Anzu glared him down to remain silent in which he did. Anzu turned back to the man.

"Is there a solution?" The others looked to the side. "What?" Another man spoke up.

"Well… maybe we could… higher the standards acceptance…" Anzu went wide eyed.

"Is there really no other way…?" The man shook his head. Anzu sighed and rubbed her temples. Atem noticed her distress and began to understand why she is the "ice queen". She has to make decisions people wouldn't understand. He believed that there had to be another way… there had to be. He looked over to Anzu's papers and noticed something odd. If the student enrollment went up, why is there no money to hire more teachers?

"Someone must be taking the money…" he mumbled to himself. Anzu went wide eyed and looked at Atem.

"What did you just say?" Atem cringed and looked at Anzu, terrified.

"Uh…u-um… w-what I meant was… uh…" Anzu reviewed the charts and saw it.

"Wait, where has the money gone to? When more students enter, and the higher test scores, the more money the state gives us…" The men looked shocked, all of which Atem was staring at them to see if they were hiding anything. There was one that caught his attention instantly.

"Anzu," he leaned over and whispered. "Maybe this meeting has gone a little too long." He nudged his head over to the man closest to the door and Anzu looked over and saw he was sweating buckets. She smirked.

"Yes, I agree." Anzu stood up from her seat to get the attention of the others. "Maybe we should reschedule, there's a plethora of new information that hasn't been completely saturated yet. Perhaps it would be good to do this another time." One man raised his hand.

"But Miss," This man's name is Noah, he had green hair but his bangs were a lighter shade of green, pale skin, dark blue eyes, and an unsettling vibe even if his face showed innocence. "We haven't discussed the singers and their progress for the upcoming year." Anzu sat down and sighed.

"Yes yes, let's have it." Noah stood up and handed her his briefcase. Anzu opened it and found four CD's. She groaned and handed them to Atem. He gave her a confused look.

"I'll let my consultant listen to these and judge them." Atem blinked in shock while Anzu gave him her laptop. He took a shaky breath and put the first CD in, he waited for it to load and when it did he pressed play.

All this money on me
Come and take it from a G
All she tryna do is get naked
Naked, naked, naked

Atem went wide eyed, he didn't like the lyrics, but the beat, the beat is what had him tapping his foot and bopping his head.

"Like a red nose," He was leaning to side to side with the beat with a smile on his face but then remembered where he was and stopped. "Uh… sorry…" Noah waved it off.

"It's fine, it's good that your dancing if anything. That means the song will be a hit." Atem raised a brow.

"Really?" Noah shrugged.

"Well that's how it usually works for Anzu. It takes a lot for her to like something, that's why every song produced in the company is a hit." Atem nodded and looked at Anzu to see a faint blush on her cheeks. "So, Mr. Yugi," Atem looked at Noah. "How exactly did you manage to become Miss Mazaki's consultant? She's not the type to accept help." Atem and Anzu paled, they didn't plan for this type of situation. Anzu stood up and grabbed Atem's arm.

"Uh excuse us for a moment." Anzu dragged Atem over to the windows. "What are you going to say?" she whispered while looking out the windows. Atem leaned to Anzu's ear.

"I was hoping you would intervene…" Anzu turned to him, angry.

"Must I do everything?!" she whispered. Atem swallowed hard.

"Well, it's not my meeting." Anzu wanted nothing more than to smack him upside the head, and Atem could see that so he put his arm around her to calm her down. He leaned down to her ear again.

"Don't worry, you're a smart and beautiful woman, you'll think of something." Anzu went wide eyed as her heart began to race again. Atem moved so his back was facing the men as he leaned into Anzu's cheek and kissed it gently. "Just remember to stay calm." he whispered. Anzu's face went completely red but for some reason, she was much calmer than before... why was she being so different? Sure it was Atem but… he's acting differently too… why? She shrugged the thought off for the moment and took Atem's arm off her and walked back to her seat.

"He's my consultant because I'm keeping an eye on him. He shot off his big mouth on how well versed in music he is, so I put him up to the test." The men at the table chuckled while Atem looked horrified. But, he didn't mind seeing that she was happy.

'A smile always did look better on you Anzu.' he thought. He took his seat and watched as the men chuckled and Anzu giggled. He leaned back in his seat and smiled. "Glad I could be so amusing to you all." he said smugly. The others stopped mid-laugh and regained their composure.

"Well, Mr. Yugi you may keep the other CD's and return them later with your opinions." Noah said as he began to gather his things. The other men stood up gathering their things and Anzu looked at her watch.

"Ah, yes it is that time then. Thank you for coming once again gentlemen and I hope this situation is solved by the next meeting." The men bowed before her and gave their farewells to Atem with which Atem stood up to do the same. With that they left and the two sighed in relief.

"Well, that could have gone better." Atem said. Anzu giggled.

"I think it went fine. Actually that was the best meeting I've had." Atem went wide eyed and took his glasses off.

"Is that so?" Anzu nodded.

"Go change ok?" Atem blushed a little and looked to the side. Anzu rose a brow to this and said "Something wrong?" Atem groaned.

"I kinda… messed up when I was putting this on…"

"So…?"

"I…n-need…" Anzu blushed and nodded.

"Ok… j-just make it quick." Atem nodded and took off the jacket and Anzu went wide eyed at the mess he made. Anzu covered her mouth to prevent a laugh and Atem blushed even more. So many knots from the suspenders, the wrinkles, oh how Anzu wanted to laugh but didn't, "Atem… how?" she asked shakily. She walked to him and begun untying the suspenders. He sighed.

"I had a minute and a half remember?" Anzu cringed from the question and laughed nervously.

"Oh yeah." She got them untied and took them off Atem's shoulders. "By the way, the suspenders go inside the button down shirt." Atem groaned again and began to unbutton the shirt, taking his tie off first. He took off the shirt and looked at Anzu.

"Thanks." Anzu went wide eyed and quickly went to go blow her nose.

'Of all the stupid crap… an eight pack?! Really?! I'm going to fucking lose my mind after today…' When Anzu threw the tissue's out, she turned only to be right in front of Atem. Startled by him, she stepped back and tripped on her chair and with cat-like reflexes, Atem caught her. Her hands were on his bare chest, both giving each other shocked expressions as they basically held each other, staring into each other's eyes. With a racing heart, Anzu moved her hands to Atem's face and caressed his cheeks.

"You did great, thank you." Atem smiled gently and moved his arms to snake around Anzu's petite body and pulled her closer to him.

"It's official, I can't go one week without seeing you." Anzu blinked in confusion. "Ever since our last chat the other week and especially our talk today I've wanted to see you badly, and when I did, well, I guess you can see that I was being very impulsive." Anzu giggled when she finally understood what was happening. "And I'm guessing you feel the same." he said with a smirk. Anzu went wide eyed and blushed.

"W-what?!" Anzu moved her hands to his shoulders and Atem chuckled.

"You haven't resisted me, not even now." Atem started to sway his body, side to side. Anzu blushed immensely.

"I… I was just saying thanks…"

"Tch, mmhmm." Atem called her on her bluff and was right because she looked away from him. He used one hand and placed his fingers under her chin to get her to face him again. "Those blue eyes of yours, they're what drive me nuts about you." Anzu went wide eyed again. "Heheheh, best view yet." With that Atem leaned down and ensnared her lips delicately yet with a fiery passion with his. Not able to object, Anzu closed her eyes, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed back. Her heart raced as she felt her knees start to give way. Atem smirked and lifted her up to her desk and at that moment, the kiss started to evolve. They started to go faster with their heads moving rhythmically side to side, Anzu pulled Atem closer this time and wrapped her legs around his body as her hand came down to feel his chest, moving her hands up and down when she came to the conclusion that his chest could have very well been chiseled out of stone. Atem groaned from feeling her hands on him and licked the bottom of her lip to which she opened and allowed Atem's tongue in. They started to go even faster now as their mouths opened wide so that their tongues could dance together. Once that dance ended, their lips met again but felt their lungs were about to burst and so they broke apart, breathing heavily as their foreheads were leaning on each other. Anzu's hands had stopped moving on Atem's chest and his hands were on her hips. "So… are you free for the rest of the day?" Anzu smacked Atem's chest with a smile.

"Stupid, of course I am." She leaned back to look at him and took her legs back too. Atem chuckled and put his hat on Anzu.

"Hmm, not bad." Anzu giggled. "And good, because I was hoping…" Atem rubbed the back of his head nervously. "Y-you and I c-could… um…" Anzu put a finger to his lips.

"Just be sure to know where we're gonna go." Atem chuckled and took her hand in his to kiss it.

"Good," Atem took his shirt and threw it over his shoulder. "And don't worry, it's a date." He winked and went into the closet to change back into his regular clothes leaving Anzu very flustered.

"Tch… idiot…" she said as she looked to the side with her eyes. At that moment the doors flew open and sound of running could be heard. Anzu flinched and turned around so fast that she could have gotten whiplash.

"ANZU!" Yugi came running in and jumped into Anzu's arms. Anzu gasped and went wide eyed as Yugi jumped onto her. "I've missed you!" he said as his little face was muffled by her chest. Anzu giggled and rubbed Yugi's head.

"Aw, I've missed you too Yugi." Yugi looked up to her, teary eyed with a smile. Anzu smiled to this innocent child and kissed his forehead. Yugi giggled cutely and noticed her hat.

"Cool hat! Can I try?" Anzu smiled and put her hat on Yugi when she felt arms snake around her and she jumped. She calmed down when she heard a familiar voice in her ear.

"I hope you didn't miss me too much now." Atem said. Anzu turned to him and smirked.

"Oh don't you worry, I was perfectly fine with Yugi. Right?" Anzu looked down to Yugi and he nodded while raising arms in the air.

"Yeah that's right!" Atem chuckled and wrapped his arms around Yugi and Anzu to tickle them both.

"Oh-ho-ho! So I'm a third wheel now huh?" he said over the giggles of Yugi and Anzu. As they laughed Anzu managed to turn around facing away from Atem but that only gave him the advantage to loom over her from behind and completely hold her body.

"Y-yeah!" Anzu managed to say. Atem smirked and continued the torment. As he did he couldn't help but think how cute they were. He stopped about a minute later but still held them in his arms.

"Am I still the third wheel?" he asked smugly. Yugi stuck his tongue out while Anzu smiled but leaned on Atem as she breathed heavily.

"Yeah, you are." She plainly said. Atem chuckled and held her tighter as she held Yugi. At this moment, Atem looked out the window but saw their reflection.

"Wow… we…" Atem's heart began to race. Anzu looked up at him and followed his gaze to the window and gasped.

"WE LOOK LIKE A BIG HAPPY FAMILY!" Atem and Anzu blinked in confusion but then looked down to Yugi to see him giggling to himself. "It's true though." Yugi said about his recent statement. The two blushed darkly and Atem let her go.

"Um… anyway…" Atem said nervously. "I'm having a Christmas Eve party at my place tonight. Do you want to go?" Anzu blinked as she saw Atem rub the back of his head nervously. She looked at Yugi who had a huge smile on his face, almost pleading her with his innocent eyes. She giggled.

"Alright, I'm in." Atem smiled.

"Good," He walked over to the door and opened it, holding her coat. "Shall we?" he said with a smile. Anzu smiled back.

"We shall." She walked over to him and they walked out together, but Atem turned her office lights off.

'I just hope I don't mess this up…' Atem thought as he closed the door to her now dark office.

"Hurry up Atem! I wanna go around town!" Yugi yelled. Anzu giggled and agreed with him. Atem chuckled and ran to them.

"Ok race you to the car!" Anzu went wide eyed and smirked.

"You're on!" She put Yugi down so they can run after Atem together, laughing all the way down.
