"Bella are you alright?" I asked, concern evident in my voice.
Ever since she returned from the bonfire down la push a week ago she has been... Off. Upset, angry, heartbroken… I know that that blasted Black has something to do with her current state, but she has been persistent that everything was fine. Almost too persistent. She sometimes smelled like a wet dog but I chalked it up as the increasing visits of her down to la push.
"I am fine Edward. Everything is fine." She looked at me with those doe eyes that always seemed to captivate me and I nodded in reluctance. I will have to be patient if I want answers.
Bella has been the best thing of my doomed eternity. She brought light in my darkened soul. She is smart, beautiful, kind, shy, and caring. She is a beauty in and out. And I am damn lucky to have her. I love her wholeheartedly and she does as well. She loves me- A vampire whose living source is a human...
As we turned the corner of her driveway, I sniffed the air; there was a disgustingly sickening smell of wet dog in the air. My body instantaneously went rigid. Bella seemed to have noticed my posture as she stared ahead of me in the direction I was glaring daggers. And the shimmer of love that held behind her eyes once she saw Jacob didn't go unnoticed by me. She looked at me, her eyes filled with overwhelming guilt, pain, and sadness. Confused by her sudden shift of mood, I once again out of habit tried scanning her thoughts. Keyword- Tried. But the thoughts of the person nearest proximity to her filled my mind with a sudden force that had me chocking on air. They were of Jacob filled with love. He was playing memories of them together the last few months. Of their time together. The day Jacob imprinted on Bella, their first kiss, their first time consummating the relationship, the soft caressing touches, the "I love you's" they shared. The amount of betrayal and hurt I felt was… overbearing. I gave Bella a long lingering look that held all the emotions that words couldn't even describe. Her emotions stayed the same- Guilty. How could she do this to me? Play with my emotions as such? Am I such a monster? Shouldn't I know that the love she felt for me had diminished? Shouldn't I have the right to know the truth instead of being played with? Was she ever going to tell me? The amount of hate yet sadness, longing, and heartbreak I felt had me climb off the car and run so I wouldn't harm her or the disgusting dog. I didn't turn back, I didn't go back. I could hear her sobs from far away. I kept running for I don't know how long until I caught sight of a woman not more than 16 years old in the middle of the forest laying on the grass, her arms were slashed badly, she was bleeding heavily. Her chest was heaving for oxygen, her petite frame was covered in sweat, and there were multiple cuts and bruises throughout her body. Her eyes were not filled with terror or lost hope but they held confidence and determination. Her posture was one of a soldier in a fight. She had blades attached to her hips, back, and boots. One was held strongly in her hands. She looked like Athena. Her fiery redhead was flowing in the wind; rays of sunlight made her skin shine shades lighter. She looked like an angel… Her skin yet was covered with various tattoos of different intercept shapes and curves. Her wrists, shoulder blades, her back, and a small area of her waist were covered with them. She was wearing the armor of sorts. It fit her body like a second skin.
As I followed her gaze the creature standing in front of her made me stop dead in tracks on my path of saving the woman. I have never seen someone so disgusting in my life. Its eyes were red, redder than even vampires consuming blood, his hands bared claws and black wings were swaying back and forth from his shoulder blades.
They were fighting back and forth. The… creature was twice the size of her, but she fought him with utter ease. The creature laded some terrible scratches on her as well and I could see she wouldn't be able to hold him any longer and was losing her strength gradually. I don't know what overtook me but the thought of her death had me running and attacking the creature with all the newborn strength I could muster. I was able to trap him in a death grip and a blade pierced its heart followed by a heart-piercing scream and then silence. As I looked down to see what had become of the creature I was astounded when I saw nothing of him. There was nothing present there, not a shred of blood laced on the grass.
"They go back to their home dimension once we kill them" An angelic voice answered me. I turned around in the direction of the sound and saw that it was the angel from before who had answered the question. She was lying on her knees on the grass. Her hands were fiddling with her belt, desperately searching for something. As she looked up at me the world around me stopped. I got lost in her green eyes. They were lively as a forest, green as grass, and held… so many emotions that were masked. It may have been hours, or even days we continued staring at each other. Her whimpering brought me out of my days and I was beside her in a second. She didn't even flinch by my sudden appearance; she continued fiddling with her belt in search of something.
"Let me help you" My voice spoke for the first time. Her eyes widened by my sudden communication. She nodded her head after a few minutes of pondering.
"There... There's a pen in…my belt. Can… You remove it for me? "
Confused, I only grimly nodded. As I leaned forward to unplug her belt, I smelled her scent for the first time. It was…. Mouthwatering. I craved it, I wanted it, I needed it. My mouth was salivating with venom. I have to have her, I have to bite her. Blood! Blood! Mine! Have her! Claim her! Bite her! The monster in me begged.
"Oh Raziel" A low gasp brought me out of my inner battle. As I looked up, I realized a ray of light was flowing from in between tress and was objected directly at me. Rays of rainbows were bouncing off of me making me glitter like a fucking disco ball. As I looked up to her green eyes, waiting for the disgust to come. It never did. Her eyes were filled with wonder. How can she be amazed about this? I am a monster. I should have disgusted her, she should be running for heels right now- not that she can, her legs are severely injured. I looked down at her legs which were bleeding out. Blood. My mouth salivated with venom again. But I pushed it down. I have to help her.
As carefully as I could with limited skin to skin contact I removed the 'Pen' out of her boots, after a search. As soon as the pen like object was in my hand it burned my hand. I dropped it from the unbearable pain. What the..? As inviting the pain was to me at this moment, it was also rather shocking to feel pain after the constant numbness of century. The angel shared a curious look towards me as she collected the pen from the ground. She started drawing patterns in the air and I staggered back as the pattern kept swirling in the air as it went, each curve, each line of golden streak painted the air like a canvas and a bright golden light blinded us for a second. As I opened my eyes, I saw the angel looking back at me and then disappearing in the blinding light. I spread my arms to hold on to her but the blinding light and the angel were both gone.
