A/N: It's been a while, hasn't it? Well now I am updating after a long time without. I have not died, just worked on another story, become obsessed with a Tv show, and had to memorize and work on a speech. But I'm back! Enjoy.
Disclaimer: I dont own this, only Kaci Shinra and the plot line yada yada yada.
RECAP: Kaci and Genesis just got back from a mission after she disobeyed an order. And they fought about. Alot.
On with the story!
Kaci groaned and rolled over. The morning light burned her eyes. Her cellphone ringing was the most annoying sound in the world, right now. "Hello?"
"Kaci, its Angeal."
"Yeah, what do you want?"
"Come to the board room in a few minutes."
"Okey," Kaci responded before hanging up. She climbed out of bed and shivered as the air attacked her bare legs and arms. Kaci hurriedly dressed in her uniform and pulled her hair into its signature ponytail.
She quickly headed off to the Director's office. Angeal and Lazard were waiting for her. "Yes sir?" Kaci asked.
Lazard nodded to Angeal who spoke, "Kaci, I've put you in for First. And you were approved."
Kaci couldn't believe it, "You're serious? You're not playing a joke on me right?"
"Of course not Kaci," Angeal said.
A smile appeared on Kaci's face, "Thanks Angeal!" Kaci wrapped her arms around Angeal in a hug.
"And thank you as well Director," Kaci smiled turning to Lazard.
"You're very welcome Kaci. And you can get any alteration of the uniform that you choose."
Kaci nodded, "Excuse me." She slipped outside. Kaci decided to go up and thank her father. She knew that the President had to do any First approval.
Kaci slipped into his office. Rufus Shinra looked up to his blonde daughter, "Hello, Kaci."
"Thank you."
Rufus looked up confused, "For what?"
"Approving me being a First," Kaci said.
"Yes, Kaci I'm about to go to a meeting. And you're welcome," Kaci smiled before leaving his office.
"Kaci."
Kaci turned to Sara, the secretary, "Yeah?"
"Congratulations on making First," Sara smiled.
"Thanks Sara."
Sara looked thoughtful for a moment, "Maybe we should change your look."
"How?" Kaci asked. She actually wanted a change anyway.
"Maybe your hair," Sara mused.
"My hair?"
"Yeah, dye it or something," Sara leaned back in her chair.
Kaci shrugged, "Depending on the color I guess."
"Good! We can do it right now!"
"Don't you have to work?"
"He doesn't like me at my desk during a meeting anyway. Come on!" before she knew it Kaci was in Sector 4.
"We might as well get you a uniform too right?" Kaci sighed. Sara had become so much more talkative now outside of headquarters.
"I suppose."
"Ok!" Kaci was dragged into a shop and pulled around. Until she saw something. Pulling away from Sara, Kaci went over the rack and pulled out a black leather coat. It went to her feet, and Kaci knew that with straps it could look pretty close to the SOLDIER uniform.
"You like it?" Kaci jumped at Sara's voice.
"Yeah I do."
"Good," before Kaci knew it Sara was back holding the jacket in a bag. "You didn't have to do that," Kaci told her.
"I want to do something nice for you."
After a few more shops Kaci and Sara finally arrived at a place which sells hair dye. "What color do you want?" Sara asked.
Kaci shrugged, "Light brown?"
Sara nodded and went to find something. Kaci had no idea how to judge hair color products. She wasn't not a girly girl, but hair products were out of her expertise.
"This one's good," Sara shoved a box in Kaci's hands. Judging by the picture it was a perfect color for Kaci.
Kaci nodded, "But I'm paying."
Back at headquarters, Sara and Kaci were in Kaci's new room. Sara threw a towel over her shoulders and began mixing the color, "You know what you're doing right?"
"I've done this before Kaci, don't worry," Sara said. Kaci was then dragged into the bathroom and had goop painted on her head.
About forty-five minutes later Sara turned off the hair dryer, "Ta-da," she turned Kaci and Kaci gasped. In the mirror was a beautiful girl. Her hair was a lovely caramel brown.
"You look great," Sara said.
"Thanks Sara," Kaci hugged her new friend.
"You're welcome," Sara checked her watch. "Bye!" Sara dashed out the door. Kaci laughed and looked in the mirror again. Her hair was down and it was actually pretty long. She decided against changing fearing the others wouldn't recognize her.
She went to the room where the three usually were. Suddenly she hoped that Genesis wasn't in there. But oh well. She opened the door and to her happiness only Sephiroth and Angeal were there.
Kaci sat on the couch and smiled at the men's stunned expressions, "Kaci wha?" Angeal started.
"What did you do to your hair?" Sephiroth asked.
"I didn't want to be blonde any more. Beside it works better with my new uniform," Kaci shrugged.
"It looks nice, Kaci," Sephiroth complimented making Kaci smile.
"Yeah well… Genesis isn't so happy about last night," Angeal said.
"I figured that. Maybe I should just apologize to him. I was pretty mad myself." At that moment a certain red head walked in. Whether he stopped because Kaci was there or her change in appearance we won't know.
"Genesis-" Kaci started.
"I don't want to hear it Kaci," he turned.
"Genesis!" Genesis stopped and reluctantly turned to her. Kaci sighed, "I apologize for what I said to you yesterday, I don't regret my actions but I do regret what I told you afterwards."
Genesis scoffed, "I find that hard to believe."
Kaci was shocked, here she was trying to make peace and he had bluntly refused, "Genesis, I'm trying to make this right and you just openly refuse! And make it as though I'm lying?! I don't believe this!"
Genesis looked angry, but soon he smiled and turned his head to the side, "Just the reaction one would expect from a spoiled child," he turned to face her, "A very spoiled child. You and your father are exactly the same. You don't even deserve to be a First; he just gave it to because you're his daughter. It's no wonder you mother left you."
Any anger flowed from Kaci's face and was replaced by shock and hurt. Sephiroth and Angeal stood up from the table in the corner, "You…" Kaci barely whispered. She walked out of the room almost jogging, and almost in tears.
When she did reach her room, she leaned against the door. Kaci thought over what he said, is it true? That my mother did leave because my father and I are selfish? No, no, no! Before she knew it Kaci was sliding the door with tears streaming down her face.
Angeal and Sephiroth hurried past Gen and to the room of their female Fist Class colleague. 'Geal and Sephiroth stopped at the door, "Kaci?" Angeal prompted.
They both heard a soft sniff, "Go away."
"Kaci, let us in," Sephiroth said.
"I don't wanna talk leave me alone!" Kaci's voice broke at the end. Both men knew their female friend was crying. At the same time, Sephiroth and Angeal went back to confront to red leather wearing SOLDIER, who was currently reading LOVELESS.
As Angeal and Sephiroth yelled at him, both could see that the information was not getting past his beloved book.
Genesis barely picked up parts of what they were saying, however when the word "cry" was mentioned it peaked his interest but didn't make him put down the book. That is, until a black gloved hand grabbed the book and flung it across the room; Genesis watching in horror before looking to see a very angry Sephiroth and behind him a livid Angeal.
Both men knew SOLDIER, or not a SOLDIER, it was never acceptable to make any woman cry. And by the end Genesis would know that.
