A/N: Hey! I'm sorry her recovery was short, but I kinda ran out of ideas. Ok poll results
Sephiroth: 2
Genesis: 2
And there you have it. I'm not closing the poll just yet because it is tied, and I will follow the votes. Yes, this chapter will begin the romance, so be ready; but with Kaci, it will be rather interesting and maybe annoying bear with me here. I know what I'm doing.
I have SAT testing next week, and the week after that I'm on break! So I'll be alternating between playing Oblivion on my PC, and working on all my other stories and finishing MASH'S Flower, because that needs to be finished. I'll update at least three chapters, I promise. And will someone please review saying reminding me what chapter number I've posted on here. I forget.
I only own my OC the plot line, and this chapter.
A week after her release and she was busy. Tonight was when she and Genesis had planned to go see LOVELESS. Kaci looked at herself in the mirror and smiled at the almost finished product. Her dress was long and black with sleeves covering two inches of her shoulders. Some of her back was bare, revealing a few past scars. The front of the dress dropped down her front about midway revealing only some of her chest.
Kaci had curled her hair and put it into a bun, leaving two curls to frame her face. Her bangs swept across her high forehead. Kaci had put on dark brown eye shadow and liner to accent her blue eyes. Her cheeks had the perfect amount of pink on them, and her lips held a light apple red color.
Kaci wore no necklace, but had on her ever present silver ring. She had diamond studs in her top ear piercing and the bottom one she wore dangling small diamonds. Kaci slipped the back on her last earring and looked in the mirror again. Sara had made sure she had the perfect strappy two inch heels, and perfectly manicured French tips on her fingers and toes. Kaci liked her new found friend in Sara.
Kaci was taken from her thoughts when someone knocked on the door, that'd be Genesis. Kaci opened the door and it revealed Genesis, looking rather nice in a suit and tie. "Kaci… You look great," Genesis said.
"Thanks, you don't look too bad yourself," Kaci replied back.
"Happy birthday," Genesis placed a soft kiss on her cheek.
"That's right, it is my birthday. I forgot my own birthday…"
Genesis chuckled, "No matter, here," he held out a gray box to Kaci.
Kaci took it and opened it. Inside was a silver necklace with a Mako blue stone in it, "Genesis, I… Thank you but, I can't take something so expensive," she pushed the box back towards him.
Genesis shook his head, "Angeal and Sephiroth chipped in too. It's from all of us."
Kaci nodded, "Alright." She went back to the mirror and attempted to clasp the necklace. She looked down and moved her hands away at another touch.
"Here," Genesis clasped the necklace for her and his hands grazed her neck as he took them away. His eyes traveled to her back, "I never knew you had these scars." His hand reached out and touched one; causing Kaci recoiled at his touch.
She slipped into the bathroom and opened her medicine cabinet. Hollander had given her some pills in case she got a headache or become dizzy; after effects of Mako poisoning.
Kaci put cotton in the bottle to keep the pills from rattling around and placing her cell phone and a tube of lip gloss she was ready.
"Come on, Kace," Genesis said. Kaci walked beside him and shut her door. "Angeal and Sephiroth wanted to see yo before we left," Genesis said.
Genesis couldn't believe how beautiful she looked. None of the three guys had seen her really get dressed up. Sure a few days she had on a little bit of makeup, but it didn't compare to how she looked now. Genesis had no idea why he was obsessing over Kaci so much. I mean she was just a kid right?
Kaci smiled as she entered the lounge room which her other two friends occupied. "Kaci, you look absolutely lovely," Angeal told her.
"Thanks, Geal."
"I see Genesis gave you your present, Sephiroth nodded towards the necklace.
"Oh yeah. Thank you all, I love it,"
"Says the one who forgot her birthday," Genesis muttered.
Kaci frowned, and Angeal glared at the red head. "Well, we're going, bye!" Kaci said and turned to talk away.
"Bye, Kaci. Genesis take care of her," Angeal said.
Genesis scoffed and followed Kaci. Outside, Genesis led Kaci to his car; she raised an eye brow, "Figures."
"What?" Genesis asked her.
"That you would have a red car," she nodded at his red mustang.
"No other color a car should be," he opened the door and Kaci slipped inside. "Don't you think?"
"I wouldn't know, all of my cars are black, and one is silver," Kaci explained.
At first Genesis was puzzled but then he remembered that she had free run of Shinra company cars. The ride to the restaurant was fairly quiet, but that didn't bother Kaci, who was normally quiet. And it gave Genesis opportunities to steal glances at her. Why am I looking at her? Genesis question, although he knew why.
Inside the restaurant, Genesis placed a hand on the small of Kaci's back as he led her to the table. She didn't find this gesture unwanted, just a little odd coming from the red head.
Kaci sat across from Genesis and the waiter came and did normal waiter things. "Wine sir?" he asked Genesis. Genesis nodded and chose a red wine. Kaci shifted uncomfortably.
Genesis opened the bottle and went to pour some in her glass but Kaci shook her head. "You don't want any?"
"No I don't drink. But that doesn't stop you from having any, Genesis," she wanted him to have a good time. And if he wanted wine he could have some, she didn't care.
At the end of the meal a band started playing a slow dance song, "Care to dance Kaci?" Genesis asked.
Kaci considered him for a moment, "I'd love to."
As she slipped into Genesis's arms she smiled to herself. As the red head lead Kaci followed all of steps. Kaci soon found that Genesis could dance rather well.
Genesis was going crazy. The scent of her shampoo drifted up to him. What is it coconut, vanilla maybe? Either way it was driving him mad. Kaci looked over his shoulder while dancing and a few times at his face. Her not looking at him gave him a perfect excuse to think more about this, and more time to go insane.
After a few songs Kaci felt a headache coming on, ignoring it she continued dancing, until a wave of dizziness stopped her. She placed a hand to her head, "Kaci?" Genesis asked, concerned.
"Can we sit down?" she asked.
Genesis nodded and led her back to the table. Kaci sat down and looked up at him, knowing the headache would get worse in a moment.
"Kaci are you ok?" Genesis asked.
"Yeah. Excuse me," Kaci grabbed her clutch and gracefully walked to the bathroom. Fortunately she was the only occupant. Kaci leaned on the counter and placed her head in her hands. Her head was throbbing. Kaci found her pill bottle and pulled out the cotton until she found the pills. Placing two of them in her hands Kaci turned on the sink. Catching water in her hands she quickly drank that to take the pills. A few moments later she found the headache subside but a small feeling of dizziness still remained.
She returned to Genesis who had apparently just paid the check, "You sure you're ok?" he asked.
"Yeah I'm fine," she nodded.
"Good let's go," he stood up. Kaci pulled out her phone.
"The play doesn't start for twenty minutes," she protested.
"It only take ten minutes to walk," he brushed his windblown hair out of his eyes know that he was outside.
"What are we going to do with ten extra minutes?" Kaci stopped walking waiting for an answer.
"We have to get good seats, Kace."
"I refuse to sit in the front," she told him.
"Good," he looked back at her. Kaci nodded and followed him. Her dress and the wind didn't like each other so to stay warm Kaci put her hands on her arms.
"Cold?" Genesis asked her. Kaci nodded reluctantly. Genesis slipped his jacket around her shoulders and pulled her to him with one arm. Kaci closed the top of the jacket with her hand and leaned on Genesis's shoulder. Closing her eyes, she realized that Genesis was much nicer than he acted.
At the theater, Kaci and Genesis found seats and sat down. Kaci didn't take his jacket off and he didn't ask for it back. Kaci rested her head on his shoulder again. Her head hurt and she wanted to go to sleep, but she wouldn't fall asleep here.
As the play went on Kaci would've found it more interesting, had her head not hurt so much. Genesis momentarily forgot about her because he loved the story so much, until she moved slightly. Instead of being offended that she may have been sleeping Genesis was worried about her. She had been acting odd since that last dance. Is she sick? Genesis asked himself. Hollander hadn't told any of them about anything that should happened, but maybe he only told Kaci. His eyes were turned back to the stage as the play continued.
"Did you like it?" Genesis asked Kaci as they left the theater.
"It was wonderful, not at all different from the book," she said. That made Genesis feel better, it meant she wasn't sleeping; mainly that she wasn't feeling awful.
"Very surprising I know," Genesis opened the door for her and Kaci slipped into the passenger seat of his car.
Genesis couldn't help but think of how gorgeous she looked, staring out the window. Kaci turned and he turned his eyes to road hoping she hadn't seen him.
Kaci stopped at her door and turned to face Genesis, "I had a great time tonight, Gen."
"I did as well, Kaci. I'm glad you like the play." God, I sound like an idiot! Genesis thought.
She nodded, "Mhmm. I loved it," she looked down a little embarrassed, "But I think I'd rather hear you reading the poem then going to the play."
Genesis took as step towards her and lifted her chin up with a gentle brush of his fingertips, "Ask any time, Kaci." He leaned in and placed a delicate kiss on her lips.
Kaci was shocked and didn't know how to react. When he pulled away he stopped about an inch away from her, and Kaci realized she wasn't letting him go. She reached up to capture him in her own kiss. As it turned into a thing of soft passion, Kaci felt Genesis's hands on the back of her neck. One of her hands trailed to his shoulder, but the other pressed against the wall be sure it was still there and she had something to fall back on. They broke the kiss and Kaci found herself trying to catch her breath.
When she could finally speak again, "Good night, Genesis," she leaned and giving him a quick kiss she disappeared behind her door.
Kaci's head was spinning. Did she truly feel something for Genesis, or was she just caught up in the moment?
Later when she lay down under her comforter she asked herself this: Did Genesis feel something for her, or did he just act on a quick thought?
