Sorry about the extremely short chapter guys! School has been crazy hectic and I have been obsessed with Durarara! Promise I'll update soon and I'll probably be wrapping this up soon.
Night rolled around faster than expected, and we hadn't gotten any closer to finding Mai. Taichi offered to bring us dinner but I declined his offer and got Lin to go out and get something. The thought of food made my stomach turn so I didn't eat anything. Everyone sat in the base and ate silently. I could tell they were getting discouraged as well.
"Why can't we just interrogate the bastard!" Tawkigawa screamed loudly.
"If you don't be quiet, you might as well sign her death certificate." I spat at him. "If you have a problem with the plan leave. Take everyone with you. I can do this alone."
I was beyond tired of everything. Everyone was in danger here anyway it would probably be better if everyone left, but then there would be no distraction while I searched.
"We're staying because we actually care about her! You could care less what happens to her you never showed any concern for her well being before. We all know that you rejected her and left us here to pick up the pieces. You're nothing but a cold, selfish child who only cares about himself!"
Tawkigawa pushed me past my breaking point. I glared at him as a blue flame appeared in my hand. Surely he knew he didn't stand a chance against me. I was prepared to completely obliterate him.
"Naru!" As soon as her voice reached my ears, my body went numb, my hand fell down to my side, and I dropped to my knees.
Everyone looked at me shocked at what I had almost done. No one else seemed to have heard her. I felt like I was losing my mind. I have never wanted to actually kill anyone before, and yet I was about to take out someone I considered to be my friend.
I got up and bolted out the door. I needed air. I ran out the front entrance and let the door slam behind me. I had no idea where I was going but I kept walking until I came to a river.
"Gene help me!" I screamed as tears ran down my cheeks. I had to talk to him I needed to know she was alive. I needed something to help me breathe. For the first time in my life I needed help. I couldn't do this on my own. I sunk to the ground and layed my face on the moist ground of the river bank.
It seemed like hours had passed by. The moon shone brightly and illuminated the area around me. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. It was strange that no one had come searching for me yet. Then again I just about killed Tawkigawa so they were probably scared to come after me.
As I was about to stand up I heard something rustling through the brush. I quickly got up and hid myself behind a nearby rock. I peeked out from around the rock and saw Taichi on his hands and knees. As he started to uncover something I saw something silver glisten in the moonlight beneath his hands. He found a handle and jerked the small hatch open. He quickly stepped down into the opening and shut it behind him.
I knew this was it. She was so close now. I had to follow him and get her. This might be the last chance she has. I knew it was risky and the others had no idea where I was, but I knew I had to go now.
