Author's Note.
At the time of writing we are 6 chapters in and I think I like where this story is going so will continue. I do not however have a firm plan and am open for ingenious suggestions, please leave them in your reviews! Using chatGPT because I'm not really much of a writer. Is is cheating? Absolutely! Does it mean pretty much every single writer on this site is better? You bet and they have my full support! Does it mean it's not worth doing and shouldn't be read? Feel free to decide for yourself. I will say however that if you do the same, send me a message and I'll come follow your story because at the end of the day, all I want is a decent story to read!
Chapter 1: A World Turned Upside Down
The night was cloaked in darkness as Sirius Black stumbled through the ruins of Godric's Hollow. The echoes of a terrible tragedy still reverberated in his ears, his heart heavy with grief and disbelief. The loss of his dear friends, James and Lily Potter, weighed heavily on his soul. As he approached the wreckage of their home, he caught sight of a flickering light amidst the debris. A wave of hope washed over him as he hurried closer, desperate to find any sign of the one small glimmer of light left in his shattered world.
There, nestled amidst the rubble, lay a tiny boy, no more than a year old, with unruly black hair and a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead. Harry. The mere sight of him brought tears to Sirius's eyes and a renewed determination to protect him at all costs. The boy gurgled and reached out his small hand, seemingly unaware of the tragedy that had befallen his parents. Sirius scooped him up, cradling him close, feeling a surge of fierce love and protectiveness welling up inside him.
As he held Harry in his arms, Sirius's thoughts turned to the events that had led them to this moment. The night had been chaos, the Dark Lord Voldemort had come for Harry, seeking to extinguish the prophecy that spoke of his downfall. But something had gone wrong. Lily's love for her son had created a shield, a protection that even Voldemort could not overcome. Harry had survived.
But how did Dumbledore know? Sirius's mind churned with questions. How did the headmaster of Hogwarts know that Harry had survived? And why had he not come himself? The doubts began to gnaw at Sirius's trust in Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix. He had always been loyal, but now, in the face of such loss, his faith wavered. As he held Harry close, Sirius made a decision. He would trust no one. Not Dumbledore, not the Order, not even his closest friends. In a world turned upside down, he would be the one to protect Harry. The weight of the responsibility settled upon his shoulders, and he knew there was no turning back.
With determination fuelling his every step, Sirius disappeared into the night, carrying Harry to a place of hiding, a sanctuary where they would be safe from those who sought to use the boy for their own purposes. He had no plan, no destination in mind, but he would rely on his instincts and his love for Harry to guide them.
In this new chapter of their lives, Sirius Black would become Harry's protector, his guardian against the dangers that lurked in the shadows. Together, they would forge their own path, free from the web of trust and betrayal that had entangled their world.
As they vanished into the night, Sirius whispered to the sleeping child in his arms, "We'll find our own way, Harry. I won't let anyone harm you. From this day forward, it's just you and me against the world."
