A/N: hello. I have not died, and I am updating not. It's summer and I have lost track of time, but I will update now, and if i get a review or two I may do it tomorrow.

Disclaimer:I don't not own Crisis Core, I have not played it, but I have watched someone play it. I do own Kaci Shinra and the plot line.

Kaci threw on her jeans and a dark blue tank top; she went through bag and pulled the black jacket over the shirt. She had already put makeup on and now she put her birthday necklace on. She hadn't worn that in a month. The blue stone accented her eyes and so did her brown eye shadow, liner, and pink blush. Kaci grabbed her sunglasses and put them on top of her head. She wore a pair of lace up combat boots she found in the back of her closet.

Kaci slung the duffle bag over her shoulder and grabbed the suitcase she had. She left them outside her door as instructed and slung her small black purse over her shoulder.

"Well you look nice Kaci," the Director commented when Kaci entered the room.

Kaci looked over at Sephiroth who wore black slacks and a white shirt the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. "Well, Sephiroth here's your file, and Kaci here's yours. You will find everything you need, such as your names, ID card, back story, and Sephiroth you ought to have a set of car keys."

"Kari Fair, nice name change."

"Vincent Aeon?"

"Sephiroth, you're very hard to fake name. Now, you two are already set up with jobs near Pierce. Kaci, you'll be working as a nurse in the Shinra hospital, and Sephiroth you'll be in the weapons manufacturing depot. Now, Pierce works with bio weapons, so he will be coming in to either one of your departments every day, so I suggest you both get to know him somehow and eventually get proof as to what he's doing. No one will recognize you; because none of the workers there have been sent here to Midgar we've employed them from Alira. And there will be quite a few large parties going on so I suggest you attend those as well. Any questions?"

"Yeah, I don't know anything about nursing; I can only use healing Materia."

"Yes that's why you will be given this," he placed a red book in Kaci's hands entitled, Field Nursing Techniques. "One of the on-staff nurses here said it has everything you'll need; you won't be doing any kind of diagnosis. No one knows of you mission so if you don't know what to do, use Materia. Or kill the patient and remove all traces of evidence, lightening Materia looks like a heart attack."

"Kill them?! Just for the sake of a mission? No."

"Ok fine, disease rid them. I know you can do that, and if they have a disease that wasn't noticed go get another doctor or nurse, can you do that?" Kaci nodded, "Good, Sephiroth you can do your job can't you?"

"Nothing terribly difficult about going over weapons designs."

"Good, I suggest you read over the rest of the file, Sephiroth. And Kaci go find a troop and see if you can't scare them into taking you things to the car outside."

"Yes, sir." Kaci turned on her heel and walked out.

She entered the cafeteria and walked over to where Angeal and Genesis were sitting, "We'll be leaving in a few minutes."

"Good luck, Kaci," Angeal stood up and hugged her, Genesis did the same.

"We've already said goodbye to Sephiroth. You look nice out of uniform, by the way."

"Thanks, Angeal. I have to go find a troop."

She saw a few sitting at a table and Kaci walked over to them.

After she was sure all of their stuff was ready she walked back to the Director's office where Sephiroth and Lazard were waiting for her.

"All right, you two are ready then. Call once you've made any progress."

"Yes, sir," both saluted and left the office. In the elevator Kaci asked, "You read the file, I presume?"

"Yes I did. And we can't go against orders, Kaci."

"I know, I had nothing to do with it."

"I never thought you did."

Kaci and Sephiroth were now driving through a lot of empty space to Alira. "Oh yeah, here." Sephiroth dug through his pocket and handed Kaci a small black jewelry box.

"What's this?" she opened the box and inside was a silver ring with a Mako blue stone surrounded my two smaller black stones.

"Your engagement ring, Lazard gave it to me and I forgot about it when we were leaving. Try it on."

Kaci slipped the ring over her left hand, "I'll have to get used to wearing this. It fits though."

"Good."

"Seph, how are we going to be a believable couple?"

"You ought to be worried about being a believable nurse, Kaci."

"Right," she grabbed the book from her bag and read until they were in front of the hotel.

The woman at the front desk had blonde hair and she wore a black dress with a large string of pearls. "Hi do you have reservations?" Kaci nodded and handed the woman her ID.

"Oh yes, Shinra called and set up the reservation, we just have the cutest little room for you." The lady almost squealed in excitement.

Kaci could already feel herself becoming tense, but when Sephiroth put his arm around her waist that didn't help any, "Calm down, Kace," he whispered in her ear before walking up the stairs.

"Here is the suite," the woman opened the door and revealed a good sized living room and it had a large kitchenette and dining room table. The two cream color couches had a large balcony behind it. "Well, I'm Lucy so please don't hesitate to ask if you need anything." She closed the door and the room fell silent.

"They could've given us a larger room," Kaci said.

"Spoiled rich kid," was all Sephiroth remarked.

"Hey! I'm kidding," she opened the bedroom door and was faced with a king sized bed. "I'll sleep on the couch," Kaci turned to leave but Sephiroth pushed her back inside.

"Ow."

"I'll sleep on the couch," he said.

"No you don't," Kaci reached down and grabbed his bag and tossed it on the bed while she flung herself on the opposite side, "There. What would the maids think if one of us slept on the couch anyway?"

Sephiroth chuckled before moving his bag and falling on the bed with her. "You don't move a lot do you?"

"Only when I'm alone," she said. Kaci's light hearted demeanor vanished and sad eyes took over.

"Hey, what's wrong?" Sephiroth turned over and looked at her with concern.

"Nothing," she got up and proceeded to unpack her stuff, "I'll take the top two drawers alight?"

"Kaci-" Sephiroth started.

"Drop it!" she glared at him steadily. "I'm sorry that was," her face looked thoughtful for a moment.

"Its fine, Kace." She didn't respond but continued to unpack her stuff.

An hour later Kaci was sitting on the couch reading that medical book for a second time. "Learn anything new?" Sephiroth asked coming out of the bedroom, his hair wet.

"Yeah. Would let me put an IV in you?"

"Sure, Kace." Since that little incident earlier, nothing had happened much.

"Hungry?"

"Yeah."

"Alright let's see if they gave us any food." Kaci dropped her book and went into the kitchen, the fridge and pantry had a fair amount of food in it. "Ok so what do you want, grilled fish, or grilled chicken?" she asked.

"I didn't know you could cook, and chicken," Sephiroth seemed slightly surprised.

"I'm a SOLDIER yes, and we don't have a maid so who do you think did the cooking?" at first Sephiroth was confused but realized she was talking about when she lived with her father. "I had to teach myself with the help of books. And I like books so that didn't bother me."

"I didn't know you liked to read," Sephiroth leaned against the wall.

"Yup, I could've been a writer, but I already had my life set up for me. I don't mind being a SOLDIER, it pays better than a writer." She smiled and tossed some melted butter and the chicken in the pan.

"I've never seen you do any writing."

"I don't get to do it very often, and I don't know what I would write about." She shrugged the question off.

After the two had finished eating, "Here," she dropped her plate next to Sephiroth's.

"What's this for?"

"Dishes," she said and walked to the bedroom.

"Oh no."

"Sephiroth, it's a dishwasher, would you rather do them manually?" he started toward the kitchen, "That's what I thought."

When Kaci was in the shower she became the old Kaci, the Kaci that wanted a father, the Kaci that wanted a life, and she felt miserable.

Kaci got out of the shower and got dressed, after washing her face she left the bathroom she went out to the small balcony. She felt a sort of emptiness and that feeling forgot that she wasn't alone, that she couldn't open up.

When Sephiroth came in ten minutes later he found Kaci sitting on the balcony, sleeping. Sephiroth smiled lightly and picked up and placed her in the bed, and fell asleep next to her.

You didn't like the chapter? tell me. You liked it? tell me too. Oh my computer is shutting me out from my reviews page, therefore I can't count up who everyone said Kaci should be with. If someone would be so kind as to do that for me, it would be greatly appreciated.
