A/N: Well this chapter was fun.

Disclaimer: I don't own FFVII, and if I did... Kaci would be real.

When Kaci got home she found herself bored. She usually had Genesis, Angeal or Sephiroth to talk to, or go to the training room, but now she had a large hotel room all to herself. Kaci kicked her shoes off and fell back on the couch. For a good ten minutes she sat and did absolutely nothing, and for a long time afterwards she thought about that morning.

At quarter after four Sephiroth came in, "Hey Kaci."

"Hi, Pierce ever show up?" Sephiroth sat down by her feet.

"Nope," she moved over and rested her head on Sephiroth's shoulder.

"Sephiroth?"

"Hmm?"

"We ought to call in; Lazard should want some info."

"All right." Kaci reached into her scrubs pocket and pulled out her phone. She stood up and put the phone on speaker.

"Director Lazard speaking."

"Hey Director, it's Kaci, Sephiroth's here too.

"Ah Kaci, Angeal and Genesis are here too. Genesis was just about to put a rut in the floor from his pacing waiting for you to call."

Kaci chuckled at the thought, "Neither of us had any contact with Pierce today, Director." Sephiroth said.

"I see, well if he doesn't come in soon you can meet at the dance that Shinra building is having."

"Won't they recognize us?"

"Kaci, as I told you before, no one has seen pictures of you and Sephiroth and even if they have, no would recognize you, especially without the Mako in your hair."

"Excuse me?"

"Yes, as an extra measure, the board has decided that they want you to take all of the Mako out of your hair. Because most pictures of you are as a brunette."

"The board? What board?! Why should I agree to that?!"

"Lieutenant, I knew you had a rebellious streak in you, but I never thought you would go against orders," it was the President's smug voice that came over the speaker from his office phone.

Kaci sighed, this was probably his idea. "Very well, president," she said tensely after a moment of silence. Kaci could almost see him nodding and smiling to himself.

"Kaci, don't so anything stupid alright?" Genesis' voice came over the speaker, after a second.

"Sure, Genesis." She snapped the phone closed and went over to the balcony.

"What's on your mind, Kace?" Sephiroth stood with his arms crossed.

"Nothing, really, just-" she sighed, "Why is he doing this now? I died my hair so people would stop looking at me," Sephiroth only threw her a puzzled look, "Shinra blonde. I have, my father has it, my grandfather had, even Lazard has it! Shinra blonde is the dominate color no matter what! My mother had black hair, but I have that menacing blonde!"

Sephiroth sighed and walked over next to her, "Sounds like you and I are a lot alike. Look at for what we're supposed to be."

She nodded, but continued, "But I like it. I love the feeling that you have everybody wrapped around your finger. It comes with Shinra blonde, But when you start losing friends," she whispered, "When I was a kid, I never used any of that; I really never had a need. I've hated having to use my father's standing as my own gain. I'm just saying nonsense, but I don't want to be like him, which is why I won't use it very often. It's my own way of protecting myself from power. Dyeing my hair makes me feel better, and I feel like a person, not a monster."

"Kaci," Sephiroth put an arm around her shoulder and pulled her to his chest, "You are not a monster. SOLDIER, or not, Shinra or not; you don't have that capability. You can close up to the world, but you couldn't be like that. Be the perfect SOLDIER, and you would still be Kaci. Not a monster."

Ah, Sephiroth you and Kaci are wayyy too alike for your own good. Yes, this chapter was a little dramatic with, what I like to call, Kaci's "hair rant," but she has kept all of this pent up for years. Yes, Sephiroth has a sweet side, but he loves Kaci, they all do. She's like the sister he never had.

Review even if you just want to bash it. I love ya!
