Meet Betrayus!

The Freedom Fighters looked on as Omega pointed his guns at Sonic, who was in his Werehog form at the present moment. Cream was scared because of both Sonic's form and his life. "Omega, would you put the gun down and let me explain? This whole situation doesn't exactly suit me very well and being at the receiving end of a cannon isn't helping. Now if you would put the cannon away, I'll be more than happy to tell you what happened," he said to the robot. 'Even though I'm getting tired of it,' he added in his mind. Omega didn't comply with the request. "Oh, now c'mon!"

"Deactivate your guns, Omega! It's still Sonic! He's just in a different form, that's all," said Shadow. This time, Omega complied.

"Oh great, he'll listen to you, but not to me."

"That's because you haven't worked with him for that long." Sonic only rolled his eyes and told the story to Omega and Cream, unaware that Tails already filled the latter in. They listened as Sonic tiredly retold the story.

"…and that's all of it. I swear," he finished. He saw that Cream was wide-eyed while Omega shook his head. "I know it's a lot to take in. Don't worry, though; I'll be rid of this form once we get back to Mobius."

"You know you're going to have to tell Rouge if we find her as well, right, Sonic?" Knuckles asked.

"I'm well aware, Knuckles. I'm just hoping that Rouge is the last one we have to find. And I hate to say it, but we have to bring Eggman with us as well."

"So Eggman IS here! I knew it! Why do we have to bring him along too, Sonic?" Tails asked with so much anger that it surprised Cream.

"Because if we don't, he might try to make PacWorld the base of the Eggman Empire," Sonic answered. "I'm afraid that that is something I can't just shrug on Pac's shoulders."

"Well there's that, and he doesn't have enough supplies to make a ship to get home. I'm afraid we're stuck with him for a while until we get home," said Shadow.

"Heh, good point. It looks like we'll have to search for Rouge in the morning." Just then, they looked towards the maze and saw a large variation of ghosts. "Damn, it looks like Betrayus' ghosts are on the move. Sal, I need you and the other Freedom Fighters, Silver and Blaze included, to make sure everyone's alright."

"You got it, Sonic," Sally said.

"C'mon, Shadow."

"Roger that." Sonic and Shadow then headed towards the ghosts, eager to take them on.

Pac, Spiral, and Cyli got ready to take on the ghosts like they usually do. Pac swallowed an Ice Berry, turning him into 'Ice-Pac', while Spiral and Cyli got their weapons ready. "Are you guys ready?" Pac asked.

"We're ready, Pacster," both said in unison.

"Alright, then let's dig in." The three of them got rid of ghost after ghost, each time having a pair of eyeballs heading back to the Underworld. However, the numbers were getting to be too much for them, as they were getting pushed back. It was then that they saw a black hedgehog. Pac remembered that Sonic and Blaze called him 'Shadow'. "Shadow, what are you doing here?" Pac asked.

"Apparently, I'm saving your butts, kid. Also, I'm not alone. Take a look," Shadow answered. The trio looked and saw what looked like a monster in the shape of a hedgehog, but with more fur and bigger than any one of the other three they saw. Pac saw the shoes on the monster hedgehog.

"I-Is that…Sonic?"

"Sorry you had to see me like this, Pacster. I guess I should've told you about this form," Sonic said. He then went to clobbering ghosts like they were nothing. Shadow jumped over him as well.

"Chaos Spear!" he exclaimed. Shadow fired multiple Chaos Spears at the ghosts before following up with chained Homing Attacks. All of this was going on while Pac got back to munching on ghosts. Sonic saw this and while he thought it was gross, he also thought of an idea. He took a bunch of ghosts, balled them up, gave Pacster a heads-up, and threw them at him.

Pac ate the ghost ball while Shadow was now getting Sonic's plan. As little eyeballs bounced right passed them, the black hedgehog looked at the remaining ghosts with an evil smirk. The ghosts were frightened and tried to fly away. "Oh no you don't. Chaos Spear!" Once again, the ghosts were frozen in place for Pac to eat.

Once he ate the last one, even more showed up, this time with one that Pac and the trio recognized: the fire-ghost Betrayus. "HAHAHAHA! Well, it looks like the Pac-Man has some new friends. I thought I'd come out to greet them personally," Betrayus said. He looked around for Sonic, not even knowing that he was in his Werehog form the whole time. "Hey, where did that blue rat go? I could've sworn he'd be with you."

"First of all, we're not rats. We're hedgehogs…" Shadow began.

"…and second, you're looking straight at him," Sonic finished as the sun came up. He reverted back to his normal hedgehog form. This gave Betrayus quite a shock, as well as Pac and the others. "There we go. That's more like it," the blue blur said as he tightened his gloves and kicked his shoes.

"You mean to tell me that you turn into that monster at night?!" Betrayus asked, shocked at what he saw.

"You better believe it." Sonic had a smirk on his face.

"And this time, we're not backing down from this fight Betrayus. Prepare to be sent back to Hell where you belong," Shadow stated with a smirk of his own.

"Who…who are you?!"

"I'm Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog."

"And my name is Shadow the Hedgehog. I'd say it was nice knowing you, but I'd be lying." At that time, Sonic's communicator went off.

"Sonic, it's Blaze. Silver actually managed to take out a few ghosts with his Psycho Shock and psychokinesis. He'll be able to take them down after all," Blaze said over the com-link.

"Alright, that's great, Blaze. How's the situation over there?"

"Everyone's safe. All of the ghosts in our area have been taken down."

"Okay, good. Send Silver over here. I've got this feeling that Shadow and I are going to need him." After they hung up, Sonic saw that Betrayus was looking around frantically for his new opponent. "If you're so powerful, Betrayus, you shouldn't have to worry too much about Silver. He's not a speed demon like me and Shadow," Sonic said.

"Or are you that scared of hedgehogs now?" asked Shadow. While this was going on, Pac and the others looked at each other with smiles on their faces, knowing that they would finally see Silver in action. Speaking of Silver, he had just flown in to join with Sonic and Shadow.

"So that's Betrayus, I take it?" he asked, getting a nod from Sonic. "He doesn't look so tough."

"I'll show you! Attack!" The ghosts came at the three hedgehogs at full speed, which to Sonic and Shadow was nothing. Silver stopped several of them with his psychokinesis. He opened his arms wide to spread them out, and then closed them to crash their heads together.

"What is that power? It's awesome!" Pacster asked.

"That's called 'psychokinesis'. It's the ability to move things and people, including the user, with your mind," Cyli answered as Silver stopped several other ghosts.

"Silver, throw those ghosts over at Pacster!" Sonic ordered. Silver looked over and saw Pac and his friends. Pac had his mouth opened as Silver sent the ghosts flying towards him. Once he ate all of them, he burped out the eyeballs. All the while, the psychokinetic hedgehog had a grossed-out look on his face.

"Delicious," Pac said.

"That's disturbing," stated Silver. Soon, there were just a handful of ghosts that Sonic and Shadow were either hitting with a Homing Attack or sending to Pacster. Betrayus decided to get his hands dirty for once and attacked them with fireballs. The hedgehogs had no problem dodging them. Sonic went for a Homing attack on Betrayus himself, but missed. Shadow gave him a boost with a Chaos Spear so Sonic would hit him. The blue hedgehog then kicked Betrayus over to Pacster, who ate him and burped out his eyeballs.

"Whew! That was close," said Sonic. He checked to see if the Emeralds were still intact. To his surprise, the Chaos Emeralds were glowing again. "How did this happen?"

"I think it was from that Chaos Spear I used to get you to Betrayus. When I hit you, I guess it brought back the Emeralds' luster and power," Shadow speculated. Needless to say, Sonic was overjoyed.

"But it doesn't mean it will work on the Sol Emeralds, though, would it?" Silver asked.

"I'm not sure. Even though I can use the Chaos Spear in my basic form, Sonic has a stronger connection with the Chaos Emeralds because he uses them more than any of the rest of us. If he's in his 'Super Sonic' state, then he might be able to use Chaos Control to restore them. We'll have to find the last pair to test this theory out." The group then heard some groaning coming from the bushes. They looked and saw Rouge stirring from unconsciousness. She opened her eyes and saw all three hedgehogs.

"Sonic? Shadow? Silver? What happened?" she asked.

"Are you alright, Rouge?" Shadow asked.

"Well, my head hurts a little. And so does my hind end. Sonic, could you be a dear and take a look?" she asked, flirting with him while in pain. Sonic and Silver blushed in embarrassment at Rouge's request. Sonic helped the flirty bat up onto her feet. He looked on the ground and saw the last pair of Emeralds. He picked one up and looked to Shadow, who nodded with him. Shadow gathered his Chaos Energy and focused it into one shot. He fired the Chaos Spear and hit the Emerald, causing it to regain its glow.

"Now try to transform, Sonic," said Shadow. Sonic focused his mind on transforming again, which resulted in…

CLIFFHANGER! I know. Readers hate those. I'm sure you know the form Sonic turns into anyways, but I plan on making this a 10-chapter story, so I need the material. Remember that not counting the 'Black Crescent' series, this is my third multi-chapter story.

So the Chaos Emeralds are back to normal thanks to Shadow's Chaos Spear, and Rouge has been found. I wonder what I'll write next besides the obvious.
