The Emeralds Return to Life
The Chaos Emeralds circled around Sonic at a fast pace before engulfing him into a bright light. Once the light cleared, Sonic was standing in his Super Sonic form. Everyone present (which was him, Shadow, Rouge, Silver, Pac, Cyli, and Spiral) all had a smile on their faces. "Alright, it's good to have this form back," Sonic said. "In fact, it's good to have the Emeralds back overall. Now we can lock on to the Master Emerald and get back home."
"Don't forget about the Sol Emeralds, Sonic," Silver said, tossing the Sol Emerald up to the gold hedgehog.
"Right, I almost forgot." Sonic looked at the dull Sol Emerald and concentrated his Chaos Energy to it. The Emerald began to float up in front of him. "Chaos…Control!" he exclaimed. The Sol Emerald gave off a bright light before returning to its red color. "Awesome! It worked!"
"That was awesome," Pac said, getting a nod from Cyli and Spiral.
"Let's get to Blaze so Sonic can use Chaos Control on the rest of the Sol Emeralds," said Shadow. Sonic and Silver nodded at this while Rouge didn't give a reaction. She knew the situation was serious, so she put treasure-hunting to the back of her mind.
Sonic grabbed the Sol Emerald and rushed off to Blaze. He knew he was going to surprise the others, but he was looking forward to her reaction. It was going to be priceless. 'I've also got to make sure that neither Betrayus nor Eggman know about this. Chances are, though, that they'd figure out by now,' he thought as he made his way towards the others, with Rouge, Shadow, and Silver following behind.
They got to the rest of the Freedom Fighters and gave them a shocking view. In Sonic's place stood Super Sonic, who was a sight for sore eyes. Sonic reached behind him and pulled out the Sol Emerald he had and tossed it to Blaze, who was shocked at the view. "Sonic…but how?" she asked.
"When Shadow used 'Chaos Spear' on me to get me up to Betrayus, he got all of the color and shine back to the Chaos Emeralds. Afterwards, I used 'Chaos Control' to restore that Sol Emerald there," Sonic answered. This amazed the others, who were around to hear the explanation. "In fact, I can use the same methods on the other Sol Emeralds as well if you'd like."
Blaze didn't have to think before answering. "That would help big time, Sonic. Thank you." Sonic nodded his head and focused his Chaos Energy on the other six Sol Emeralds. After saying the words 'Chaos Control', he restored the other Sol Emeralds to their natural colors as well. The Sol Emeralds circled around Blaze, who was smiling at the miracle. "Again, thank you, Sonic."
"No problem, Blaze." Sonic and Blaze smiled and hugged each other, inadvertently revealing their relationship, which got Rouge, Bunnie, and Sally jealous. Amy didn't know why, but she felt happy for them.
In the Netherworld, Betrayus came out of the restoration chamber angry that he lost to a supersonic hedgehog. "Stupid hedgehog, thinking he can just push me around like I'm some chump. Humph," he grumbled. During his rant, Dr. Buttocks found him and tried to get his attention.
"Lord Betrayus, somebody is here to speak to you. He could be from the same planet as the blue hedgehog and his friends," the scientist said.
"Well tell him I'm busy!" he exclaimed. The heard the sound of a throat clearing and saw a fat man in a red bodysuit and black lab coat. He also had pointed-rim glasses and a white moustache on him. "Is this him, Buttocks?" Betrayus asked.
"I'm sorry. I didn't realize you were busy mumbling about a pest problem. Perhaps we can work together to clean it up," said the scientist.
"Thanks for the offer, but who are you?"
"Ah, where are my manners? I go by the name Dr. Eggman Nega and I hail from the future on Sonic's world. Now as for your pest problem, it's become more of a mess. During that last battle you had, my intelligence sources have informed me of seven gems that got restored by Shadow the Hedgehog. After which, there were 7 more restored by Sonic the Hedgehog."
"Yeah, so what?" Betrayus asked. "They're just gems."
"Not just any gems, my friend. The first set of gems are called 'Chaos Emeralds'. These were restored by Shadow when he unleashed his 'Chaos Sphere' to give Sonic his boost. These Emeralds give Sonic the power to turn into a golden form called 'Super Sonic'." This caught Betrayus' interest. "He used a technique dubbed 'Chaos Control' to restore the other set of gems, called 'Sol Emeralds'."
"And Sonic can utilize both sets of gems?"
"No. He, Shadow, and Silver can only use the Chaos Emeralds. The Sol Emeralds are used by a cat named Blaze, who is a speed demon like Sonic and one of my enemies along with him and Silver. If we can get both sets of Emeralds away from them, PacWorld will be ours to take over. So what do you say?" Nega asked, obviously offering a partnership.
Betrayus thought about it for a minute. "If these Emeralds are as powerful as you say they are, then that means that we won't have to worry about the cat, those hedgehogs, or that annoying yellow ball, is that it?" he asked.
"If by 'annoying yellow ball', you mean Pac-Man, then yes."
"Very well, Nega. We have a deal." The two shook hands, with Betrayus and Buttocks unaware of what Eggman Nega really had planned.
On their way back to camp, with Sonic (who had returned to normal) holding Blaze's hand and Tails holding Cream's, the Freedom Fighters saw a couple of metallic objects. Blaze, Tails, Knuckles, and the hedgehogs all face-palmed, knowing it was Eggman's current bumbling duo. Orbot and Cubot popped up to greet them. "We don't mean to stop you, but I'm afraid the boss needs to have a word with you. This especially concerns Sonic, Silver, and Blaze," Orbot said.
"Of course, you're all welcome to come if you want," Cubot added.
"What does Egghead want now, Orbot?" Sonic asked annoyed. "In case you haven't noticed, we're kind of busy planning on how we're going to get him and the rest of us back to our world."
"I understand your disdain, Sonic. The boss isn't happy about working with you either. I, on the other hand, find it quite thrilling."
"Right," said Tails. "I'm glad one of us gets a thrill out of it."
"And a thrill it was indeed, Tails. Now, if you would just come along, we can get started."
"Right this way, please," said Cubot. They got to Eggman's camp and saw that he was tapping his foot furiously. "Hey, boss, we brought them like you asked."
"Good work, boys," he said. "Now that you're all here, I'm afraid we have another problem besides Betrayus." He noticed Omega activating his guns. "I don't like you anymore than you like me, Omega. It turns out that my psychotic descendant Eggman Nega has arrived here as well." This shocked the others. They had completely forgotten about Nega in all the mayhem that was going on. "As most of you know, he activated a machine that was to utilize the power of both the Sol and Chaos Emeralds to build his Nega Empire."
"As if you hadn't done the same thing, Eggman," Sonic said, interrupting his archenemy.
"Heck, you even tried using the Master Emerald," said Knuckles, adding his two cents in. He remembered when Eggman stole the Master Emerald to power his space station, the Death Egg. It, combined with the battles Sonic and Knuckles had with Mecha Sonic, also cost the echidna his sanctuary.
"Yes, but I don't use both sets of Emeralds. Unless handled properly, doing that will cause both our dimension and Blaze's to collide into each other. You know that already."
"Well then it looks like I'll have to drag Eggman Nega back to the future with me," Silver said, stepping up with his fist clenched.
"Dragging him back is the least of your worries, Silver. I had put a tracer on Betrayus' eyeballs after that Pacster kid ate him. I discovered that they were in a deal. They'll try to separate you, Sonic, Blaze, and Shadow from your respective Emeralds. You'll need to be on your guard while we're here." Sonic and the others nodded. "That's all I needed to tell you. You can go back to your camp now."
Once the Freedom Fighters made it back to camp, they sat around to discuss a plan regarding Eggman Nega. "So how are we going to separate Betrayus and Nega?" Sally asked. "It seems to me that with an alliance between two psychopaths that would be the logical thing to do."
"You're right, Princess. It is the most logical thing to do," said Silver. "You let me handle that, though."
"But, Silver, you know that Betrayus is powerful, Eggman Nega is a genius, and Sonic has to carry the Chaos Emeralds to get home," Amy said.
"Not necessarily, Amy."
"He's right, Amy," Shadow said. "Sonic can get the two of us into our Super States when he's in his. As long as Silver's in his 'Super Silver' form, he can use 'Chaos Control' to travel through time and space. All he would really need to do is lock on to the Master Emerald in his time and he'll be set."
"Then, after Silver does that, we can deal with Betrayus and get him off of Pac's back for a while. Afterwards, we can head home. At least it'll save Sir Cumference some parts," Sonic said.
"Okay, it sounds like a plan. Are there any questions?" Sally asked. She saw that Omega had his hand up. "Yes, Omega?"
"Once we bring Eggman back to our world, can I give him a world of pain?" the robot asked, getting a laugh from Tails and Rotor and a smirk from Shadow.
"If you have enough ammunition by then, yes you can," the black hedgehog said.
"Anyone else?" Sally asked. She saw that no one had their hand raised. "Very well, now let's get to sleep. Sonic will be transforming again soon, so he can keep watch."
"Got it, Sal," Sonic said. He transformed into his werehog form again and was fortunate for two things. One was that Omega wasn't pointing his guns at him like he did last time. The other was that Rouge fainted from seeing him like that, which got her off his back.
"I'll stand guard with you, Sonic," Tails offered. Sonic nodded, knowing he could trust Tails with anything.
"Thanks, Tails." They stood guard looking at the sky together. "You know, if you and Cream keep your relationship up, we might have to organize a wedding for you," Sonic teased, jabbing his elbow into Tails' arm.
"You're one to talk. You and Blaze look like you're going steady. Who knows, we might have to be each other's best man," said Tails, taking his own jab at his best friend. That's when they realized that they haven't spoken to each other much since the Chaos Control Wave sent them to PacWorld. In fact, they haven't spoken much since the incident on the Lost Hex. Sonic pointed two fingers at Tails, who pointed two right back. They gave each other a high-five afterwards and laughed.
CHAPTER 7 END
It takes a while to get some inspiration. I've also been busy with work and my stories 'Symbios-Issues' and 'Digimon Tamers: A Different Story'. Just so you know, I thought I should include a brotherly bonding moment between Sonic and Tails, especially since Tails is Sonic's best friend. It might even tie with my usual Sonaze and Taiream moments. Who knows?
So Sonic and Blaze finally got their Emeralds restored and revealed their relationship. But Eggman Nega's back in the picture and he's teamed up with Betrayus. The Freedom Fighters have a plan, but will it work well enough for Silver to drag the psycho scientist back to their time? We'll have to find out.
