Mitobe fiddled his thumbs while sitting on the examining table, the doctors where confuse by his sudden visit and had to check his records to made sure that it was in fact his mother. His father was heading over and Melissa was tagging along worried about the young boy. His mother sat on the chair in the corner of the room while Misaki flipped through some magazines on the table beside her. He bright light hurts his eyes and the smell of cleanliness made him nervous.

His mother was scowling, from what he heard she has a boyfriend, but he's off somewhere working a night-shift. Mitobe was hoping that by a miracle Reborn would come and save him but that seemed unlikely since no one even knew that he was gone. Mitobe developed a habit of disappearing and then showing back at his temporary home by an unofficial time. He let out a huff of air and blew some bangs in his face, he hadn't noticed with everything that was going on, but his hair was getting longer and longer. His bangs could be tucked behind his ears now, or cover his eyes, but he doesn't like having his vision blocked so much.

The doctor came into the room with a clipboard and shut the door behind him, with a small smile he walked over to Mitobe's mother and greeted her.

"I'm sorry for taking so long, we just had to verified a few things."

Mitobe's mother took no note, simply waved him off and dismissed his apology. "What's wrong with my son exactly? Is this a long-term thing?"

Unsurprised, the doctor shuffled through his papers. "I wouldn't say so, it's not as bad as some cases I've seen, but I suggest you give him time."

Misaki put down the magazine and looked up at the doctor, his eyes filling with desperation. "Is there anything we can do...?" Almost by instinct, Mitobe usher his little brother closer and held his hand, it simply felt right.

"I really can't say I'm sorry...I can only suggest you give him time...I can suggest some mental heath doctors, I'm not sure which one since he seemed troubled..." He paused and turned to Mitobe, who in return squeezed his brother's hand a little tighter as reassurance. "Have you been eating lately? Your weight is a little below average for a boy your age..."

"I'm just naturally light." Mitobe answered smoothly. A slight click of the door brought everyone's attention to it. Through the opened doors, Mitobe's father and Melissa entered.

"I'm sorry sir, you can't be in here." The Doctor warned as he tried to push them outside, Mitobe's mother put a hand on the man's shoulder and calmly replied "It's alright, that's his father and step mother, they can be here." She gave a small smile to Melissa who looked like she was crying on the car ride over. He blonde hair tangled and plain T-shirt meant she was rushing over to see Mitobe. the American woman immediately embraced the older boy before letting him go to look at his face and checking him all over to see if he was alright, being careful with his broken wrist.

"What happened here?" She asked in a soft voice.

"I got careless and fell into a river, I accidentally landed on it." Mitobe lied.

After the doctor let them catch up, he explained what happened again to the parents and suggested that their son see a therapist for further help. In the end they agreed that it was the best course of action, however they were still puzzled of how their son, who was supposed to be in Italy was back in Japan without their notice. That night when he got home, he took a bath and got changed in some left over clothes, Melissa and his dad stayed the night in the guest room and his mother welcomed Yosuke home. After telling him what happened he offered to take Mitobe out and help him get requited with the land. Happily, she agreed. Yosuke was a good man, that Mitobe could tell, he saw the flash of joy he saw on his mother's face when he entered the house, there was no doubt that he would hurt his mom.

Misaki slept with him again that night, the little boy told his brothers all sort of stories he remembered hoping that his bother would too. then they stayed up until three in the morning just looking over photo albums and pictures together. Mitobe liked it, the warmth of trust and a family that he had a blood connection with, there was a comfort there.

By the time he woke up next morning, it was maybe four in the afternoon, his mother and bother took a day off since the drama drained them, but Melissa and his father already left to bring him some of his stuff since they got started on their job and agreed it was best that he stayed with his mother. His dad was against t at first, but Melissa understood what was best, the bond between a son and mother was something she wanted Mitobe to have again. About two months ago, she learned that she could not bear a child so she understood it well. His father gave in and around six, the Masato family went for dinner, Yosuke's treat.

It was awkward and no one really talked, silence.

The news of Mitobe's disappearance did not reach the Vongola yet since Mukuro's team assumed he ran away out of either shame or knowing there was nothing he can do since his watch broke. Only Fran asked out of curiosity but other than that, no one said anything, no one stood up to defense him either, they treated his missing presence as a cowardice action.

Mitobe's disappearance was acknowledged after the representative battles were over, which meant that with in the course of a week, the had to visit his therapist 3 times. Each one was unsuccessful, he still can't remember a single thing. Further more, he was anything but happy, after requesting that he visit some friends, his mom said it was unsafe and she wasn't ready to let him go since she was still suspicious of how he came back to Japan. Yosuke called his "school" in Italy and contacted his teacher, who made up a lie about how he requested to take a leave, but as for why he haven't contact the, he said that there was an error with their communication system so they were out-of-order for a while.

He was even more upset when he remembered the events that happened with his dad, how he was forced to move and how he broke his mother's heart, and yet he could not find himself to pick a side. For the past few weeks he was quiet, so quiet and lifeless that Misaki was getting concern, he's even been skipping after school activities to be with his brother. If anyone was a good support though these harsh times for Mitobe, it was his brother.

With all the fights going on, it was not expected that the ones who have lost their watches are no longer on the battle grounds but it took them at least another week without Mukuro's information on Mitobe. The boy has officially disappeared, the search for him was quick, since of course it was Reborn who was in charge. After the Arcobaleno have been saved and freed of their infant forms, Bouche, Mitobe's teacher, who had arrived in Japan earlier that week with Talbot, a shaman who helped with the flame situation, had contacted the Masato family and formally apologized. He was given time with Mitobe and gave him a thorough explanation of what happened. They have also made a deal with Verde for him to build the machine to help him regain his memories. It stated that as long as Verde agree to make the machine and help Mitobe, he will be given a certain amount of money, on a limited budget to help with his research project on the flame boxes.

Mitobe, grateful, thanked his teacher. However, there was a lot of confusion among the family, both the mafia one and the blood related one. The Vongola welcomed him back gladly, well...most of them. The famous Arcobaleno have been saved and are beginning to age again, given faster than normal people but they will soon return to their regular form, this involved a lot of growing pain that required most of them to take a small Vacation. Tsuna was still hesitant on becoming the next boss of the Vongola, but Reborn was going to stick it through with his student.

Later that month, Mitobe's family had a meeting, this included his mother, father, Melissa, Yosuke, and Misaki. They were very much upset about not knowing what was going on. Mitobe's first reaction was to lie to them, but unfortunately they saw through it, already placing the information together themselves. Mitobe told them that he simply hurt himself on accident as always, but they knew better, they knew that Mitobe was not that clumsy to have harmed himself so carelessly this many time, besides, with the lost memories it was hard to look past.

Mitobe looked down at his lap, his hands in the pocket of his sweater tracing his beloved switch blade as a well-known habit.

"I know you won't believe me..."

"Try us...what's going on? Did you not like it in Italy? Are you just going around picking fights now?" His father accused

"Calm down." Melissa patted his arm lightly. Yosuke gave him the instruction to continue with a gentle smile. "I know it might seem like that, but please do, we're family."

Mitobe looked at the man, slightly smiling. "...I am...part of a gang...I guess...well, mafia..." He mumbled.

"Enough of the lies!" His father shouted again, this time, it was Mitobe's mother who gave him a stern look.

"Sit down, our son is trying to explain something..." She warned.

Mitobe looked over, grateful "...It's been a while now...But ...I'm sorry, I don't know how to explain this. How can I say that I'm in the mafia with a boss that doesn't want to be a boss with a tiny baby teaching him? Oh, and there's a crazy bomber guy that loves throwing bombs every where, some wacked illusionist, which I am by the way, hello. Let's not forget about all the people who tried to kill us and all the families we defeated so far yes?" Mitobe ranted.

His family was shocked.

"Is this a joke Mitobe?" Melissa asked sternly.

"Mitobe, really, what's going on?" Yosuke interrogated softly.

"That is the truth, that's the problem..."

Silence.

Just silence

No one said anything.

"Does that mean you killed someone?" Misaki asked from across the table breaking the firm silence.

"Yeah. I probably did, and the sad thing is that I can't remember, but there is someone who can help me...His name is Verde, and he's a scientist and he-"

"Stop. Just stop." His mother said as she stood up. "Look Mitobe, I know you're confuse, but there is no way you're in the Mafia, so stop playing this joke."

"Mom, this isn't a joke, I'm being truthful for once!" Mitobe stood up with her scooting out of his seat. "I'm part of the Vongola family, and I serve an honorable man." He took his switch blade, opening it and holding the word Vongola for everyone to see. "This, is my weapon, this is how I will protect my family, this ws given to me by an amazing man, and the person I serve is the kindest man I have ever met. Should I forget everything, I won't forget them."

"Then what are we?!" His father shouted.

"Shino..." Melissa held his hand to calm her husband.
"Do not misunderstand what I am trying to say, but family, as much as I love you, is not made of blood. They have always been there for me...they protected me, and I am willing to bet they protected you too."

"Son, stop this immediately...we raised you, we gave you life and we brought you everything you have, so tell me why..."

"I was bored."

"It's life! Why can't you just get a girlfriend and be who you use to be?"

"Dad...this is who I am...I attracted to danger, I'm attracted to what could kill me, and I'm attracted to the Mafia...Don't take that away from me."

"Masato Mitobe! Do you even know what you're saying? Do you want to die?"

"No! I don't want to live a life and then not be remembered for it afterward!"

"You...You...my own son..."

"Yes. You're son who is addicted to meeting strange people and danger and the exciting life, that HE enjoys living!"

Before his dad could say anymore, his mom interrupted "And is that a life you want? running away? hiding? Living in fear from being killed?"

"mom...It's not like that...there's a thrill there...A thrill I don't usually get...Not here..."

"You're my son, so of course I want you to be happy, but I also want you to be safe...So please...please leave that life you formerly had..."

"Mom!"

"No Mitobe...I agree, we all love you a lot...but face it, it's dangerous, and we don't want you to die of young age..." Melissa joined in.

"what's a life worth living if it's not enjoyable!"

"A life with someone you love..." Yosuke added.

"There is no one...at least I don't think so..."

"Brother, as much as I respect you...I don't want to lose you either..."

"Misaki...not you too..."

"I'm sorry..."

Mitobe looked at his family, he hated this, he hated this. He was simply close to crying from all the frustration, why couldn't they let him have his way? Why couldn't they just let him be? Why do they force him to live the life they want?

Simple...

Because they care and they love him, but in a fit of rage and frustration, he forgot that.

"It's my life!" he shouted.

"Mitobe, you are being a brat! Here, in front of you is the family that raised you! Cared about you! Sheltered you and LOVED you! How can you be so selfish?" His mother shouted.

"Please understand...Please...Please Understand...It's just my lifestyle..."

"A dangerous one I will not stand for..." His father sternly said.

That night, the household went to sleep upset, Mitobe for clear purposes and the adults simply trying to figure out what they did wrong, Misaki...well poor Misaki simply cried it out, Mitobe sat by him and offered some comfort which the little one gratefully took. The next few days were tense with the Masato's, they took no guest and the topic was never approached again, they wouldn't even let Tsuna in.

Mitobe stayed inside the house with Yosuke watching him and when his mom got home, Yosuke left for work and she would watch over him, Melissa would come over and help with house chores and the two would talk and try to make each other feel better. After careful considerations, Mitobe decided to apologize for his actions. They gladly took it but it meant little to them since they knew it was empty and he clearly stated how he felt about the situation. He was right, on some parts and the adults knew that, he had his own life, but they wished it wasn't mafia related. Misaki was probably the most heartbroken since he was more afraid of losing his brother than anything.

Broken hearts bled the blues as the month continues, Reborn has explained the situation to the family, even Hibari showed up to listen, but he left quickly afterward. Gokudera offered to kidnap the bespectacled boy, but changed his mind when he realized that that would required for him to take Mitobe away from his family...his mother. he couldn't do that. Yamamoto suggested that they should start with talking to Mitobe's parents but even Tsuna turned it down since none of them ever thought they had to deal with this situation.

So far, no one can do anything about it, as expected, Reborn did not sit still seeing as how their little group was feeling a bit empty with out the snarky little boy who would pick fights and run away afterward. He took Yamamoto's advice and talked to Mitobe's parents, it was...not effective. All four of them agreed that the type of life that Reborn was living was not the type they wanted their son to live. Reborn had to respect their decision because they were his family, he had no say in it, Mitobe was not his child, he did not raise him, he did not shelter him or clothed him. he understood why they wanted to protect their son, but before he left, he asked them to regard Mitobe's happiness.

Mitobe spends most of the aftermath mopping around the house, he was given permission to leave, but he had no motivation to. His parents felt like they were too strict but they didn't want him to be so miserable. He still had to visit his therapist, which...was starting to make sense, but the only things he remember was Hibari, and of course he couldn't tell his parents that he liked a guy, he couldn't imagine their reactions, and now wasn't the right time. So he kept to himself. He remember other things, such as the wedding with Melissa, his brother's many birthdays, and when his mother first started dating Yosuke.

Although alone, he didn't want to go outside in risk of seeing Kyoya again. He remembered their text messages, their calls, their nightly adventure to the outside world and looked at the stars, their little snack time, and even how they first met...but he didn't remember everything. he remembered enough to know that he liked the boy name Kyoya, that he had given him his affections, and every once in a while they would be returned.

A knock on his window made him open his eyes from under his bed covers. Unfamiliar and curious, he peeked out, messy hair and red eyes with dripping nose from useless crying to vent his rage and anger. Brown eyes widen in shock as he fell off his bed with a loud "oof!", struggling to remove the covers from himself, he reached for his glasses that laid safely on his pillow. Slipping him on he brushed his hair back to get a clearer look at his visitor, who stood by the window with a condescending raised eyebrow. We wiped his nose on his long sleeve shirt not caring before walking over to the window opening it, in a weak voice he spoke. "What are you even doing here?"

A smirk, a very annoying and arrogant smirk.

"Taking you outside herbivore, you look pathetic."
