A/N: So sorry for not updating in a while. This chapter was hard to write but worth it. I am still working on the plot but its coming together and it definitely would be interesting and not something would be expected. There has been question and suggestion about whether or not Percy would reveal he is a demigod. I am not answering that question. I appreciate all the suggestions you guys have. This plot i have is not set in stone which means i am open to all of your ideas. Nico will be a main part in this story for those who are wondering. As for the main pairing in this story i said it was Percy/Skye but i am not sure. I am just going to write with the flow and see where it will go. Thank you for supporting me in this story. I may not update on a regular basis but i don't plan on giving up this story anytime soon.
Thank You for all supporting
Review
Percy wasn't expecting what he saw when arriving at the Tower. He was feeling a bit antsy with the Empire State building being so near. He knew the gods will leave him alone but then again they were never good at keeping their oaths.
So upon arriving he bought a chocolate bar. He always needed sugar to cheer him up of an emotional or physical draining situation. Talking to Nico had been both. He needed to relax and sugar always did the trick but not today. Sugar wasn't helping at all; all it did was bring memories he didn't need to remember especially because they all included her. He had tried his best to get over her and he sort of did but the guilt and heaviness in his heart still remained and speaking to his cousin about the day she died wasn't helping at all. It was his fault she died. If he had stayed with her or found a child of Apollo to help instead of giving her to the gods things would have turned out differently. But he didn't do any of those things. He gave her away to die not to heal. It was his fault she died and his mother and Paul died. It was his fault he knew that fully.
So when he entered the famous and praised tower with its fantastic architect he couldn't help but think of her. He felt sad and depressed but seeing the 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes' ready to kill each other brought him back to reality. Which happened to be a very amusing reality at the moment.
He sat down beside the Newbie having not really bothered to pay attention and know her name. Percy knew she was going to be a problem the minute she walked into the gym. Curiosity was never a good trait in a spy it could get you killed. However, even though he didn't really like her he offered her a piece of chocolate wishing he brought a video camera. He couldn't help but smile smugly at the thought that he snuck right in front of Natasha Romanoff's face without being noticed. It truly was an achievement.
"So what did I miss," he couldn't help but ask as he sat down beside Skye on the windowsill.
"Oh you know Coulson revealing himself as alive to people who have been lied to for two years. Nothing new the usual," Skye couldn't help but say sarcastically. One would think it was kind of obvious. Percy of course just shrugged his shoulders.
"That's typical Coulson for you," Percy replied playing along as he bit into some gooey milk chocolate. He was happy that he brought chocolate. A good scene before him deserved an equally good snack.
"Why didn't you react like that," Skye asked curiously as she pointed to a pissed off Natasha waving her knife widely that it narrowly missed Tony Stark's face who was right behind her.
"I didn't have a small knife or a dude behind me," Percy replied with his best serious face, which happened to be a small smile, not the goofy grin he used to have.
"I am serious,"
"I am serious," Percy said mimicking Skye with his arms crossed over his chest. Skye just gave him a serious look that caused him to sober up. The look sent butterflies in his stomach.
"I have seen weirder things," he finally said speaking truthfully all laughter in his voice disappeared, his green eyes turning a dark shade. Before Skye could reply to anything Maria Hill walked up to the pair hand outstretched towards Perseus.
"Jackson" she said rather sternly.
"It's nice to see you too Maria," Percy replied giving her his signature smirk
"Pay up," Hill said eyeing the chocolate bar in his hand hungrily.
"I don't have money on me as you know but you can always check my off shore accounts in the Caymans," He said causing Hill to roll her eyes before narrowing her brown eyes in a glare that clearly said give it to me or die.
"You owe me Jackson for Budapest,"
"I don't see why a guy can't just eat a Twinkie anymore. What kind of world do we live in," Percy couldn't help but ask like someone just told him he couldn't eat blue cookies anymore. Reluctantly, he hands her a piece of chocolate.
"My Twinkie," Hill says emphasizing the word my. One would think someone would forget about something that happened two years ago. But not Maria Hill. Percy learnt something in Budapest don't mess with a woman and her supply of
Twinkies. Things weren't going to work out well for you. Just before Percy could reply and tell her how ridiculous she was acting a knife flew pass him narrowly passing his head, crashing into the window. With a sigh he looked at the two girls beside him. Hill gave him a look that clearly stated 'that's payback for the Twinkie'. Skye looked on the verge of laughing or running out of the building in fear. Who could really blame her when the Hulk was beginning to look, well Hulkish.
So with that he got up and climbed up on a table in the middle of the chaos, blowing a loud piercing whistle, which reminded him of the old days. But instead of a sleek black Pegasus swooping in, like Percy was used to, the people before him stopped their bickering and violence. Bruce Banner turned Hulk collapsed after destroying most of the living room area. Stark was going to have a field day. The Avengers looked at Percy with mixed looks of confusion and a look from a certain Russian that silently said 'why couldn't you warn me'. Clint Barton would have easily smiled at his fellow colleague and friend he hadn't seen in a while but he was too shocked and angry to make a proper or coherent response. Tony Stark was completely confused and a bit peeved that a stranger could enter his Tower. As for Coulson he was relieved. Could you blame the guy?
"As much as I would love to watch you guys bicker and destroy this tower I did not come here to watch you people throw violent fits. If I wanted to see you guys fight and throw tantrums all I would have to do is go to a family reunion which I really am not in the mood for," Percy said half jokingly as he jumped off the table. Causing an eye roll from Natasha. The avengers seemed to relax after being thrown into reality but that didn't stop them from shooting glares at Coulson. Tony begrudgingly lifted Banner up with the help of one of his robotics Dummy.
"Yeah sure don't help me carry a passed out Hulk. Like really Bruce you need a diet," Tony said taking Banner reluctantly, shooting a glare at a seated Romanoff on the torn couch.
"Thanks Tony," Natasha called giving Tony a million dollar smile while of course just earned her a grunt of complaint.
Percy took the seat beside the Black Widow leaning his head against the couch sporting a smirk knowing fully well that he saved the butt if his mentor. It was comforting knowledge. Coulson still looked a bit flustered from his encounter with his pissed off former students and colleagues.
"Were good?" Coulson asked facing the two former agents of SHIELD warily, especially Natasha.
"Were good. But if you lie to me again well let me tell you are going to learn first hand why I was Fury's most deadly assassin." Natasha said threatening her green eyes flashing with murk as the corner of her lips lifted in a sadistic smirk. Adding emphasize to her statement that she indeed was not the girl you want to mess with. Coulson took a deep breath like gulp but plastered a smile all the same. It was moments like this made him wonder what happened to the little boys who tugged her hair when she was a young girl.
"Ooooh scary," Percy said shaking his hands like a ghost causing Natasha to glare at him automatically shutting him up. Coulson stared at Clint waiting for his answer.
"Same as Natasha," Clint said glaring for emphasize. Phil nodded his head in understanding. Percy rolled his eyes at Clint's answer. Typical.
"Remind me again why I am here Coulson. I didn't come here for the scenery," Percy said cutting to the chase.
"Didn't you read the file," Coulson asked in disbelief.
"Nah, that's not the way I roll," Percy said shrugging his shoulders like his answer was quite obvious. Clint just huffed in amusement. Causing Percy to turn him daring him to say something.
"No your thing is drinking blue vodka," Clint said shaking his head at a distant memory. Percy looked offended by what his friend was saying as Phil was grinning knowing exactly what Clint was talking about.
Skye watched from afar trying to decipher the three agents expressions. Both Natasha and Clint were spoken highly of. Percy was a different case. She heard that he was one of the best agents some even dared say he was better than the Black widow and Hawkeye. His past was hidden more than anyone in SHIELD. No one knew how he was recruited. He was taken in by SHIELD at 18. He became a field agent in one month since coming in. Which was unheard of. He was the best of the best but insisted in never stepping in America ever and fighting with a sword. Percy was definitely one of a kind even his codename, Riptide, was.
She noticed Natasha looked peeved yet a bit tired as she reached into Percy's leather jacket pocket pulling out his half eaten chocolate bar. She broke of a piece, sticking it into her mouth still holding the chocolate bar. Percy seemed to notice as he took a look at the deadly assassin with a look clearly saying 'what is with women and milk chocolate.'
"Really Natasha, really. If I had known it was your time of the month I would have come more prepared," Percy said causing the Russian to stare at him unsmiling. Her stone like expression was similar to a Russian General planning an attack on America. Except the fact that Natasha was a Russian assassin planning the crude demise of a kelp head.
Percy immediately jumped off the couch stepping back from the glowering red haired girl. The last time Percy made fun of Natasha and her womanly issues he woke up finding an extremely sharp knife in between his legs pointed less than an inch away from his manly hood. One wrong move and he wouldn't be able to do what the gods were famous for. The rest of the mission he had slept with one eye open.
"Well about that," Coulson started having a sheepish look on his face. Before anything else could come out of his mouth he was interrupted.
"Seriously Coulson you 'die' and then you come back knocking on my doorstep asking for my help after two years of me thinking you were dead. No 'oh hi it's me Coulson I didn't really die' just nothing. Look I understand that you need my help who wouldn't. But I am tired of being lied to and people hiding secrets from me. Is Fury even dead," Tony Stark asked crossing his arms over his chest.
"He's dead I saw his body," Natasha said a look of pain flashing through her eyes. Coulson nodded his head in conformation not trusting his voice. Tony looked at each one of them in disbelief. Clint just shrugged his shoulders.
"What about you Lancelot?" Tony asked Percy. Before he could answer the question or comprehend the nickname the elevator doors dinged open revealing….
