AN: Hey guys! So sorry for the long wait but here is the last chapter (along with the epilogue) of my story. I just want to say thank you all for sticking with this story if you have and thank you for being very patient. I decided that I just needed to finish this last chapter of the story, so why not just finish it now before it's all too late? I feel that I owe it to you guys to at least finish this last chapter and end with closure so here it is.
Elsa took a deep breath in as she stared into the vast body of water in front of her. Today was the day. Today was the day that would change everything. She took a deep breath and sighed, knowing that this was also the last day she would be here. The last day she would be able to walk the city in which she was born in. The last day to see and hang out with Kristoff. The last day of seeing that beautiful round face and teal green eyes. The last day of running her hand through that strawberry blonde hair and hearing that angelic laugh she always loved to hear.
In the distance, a steel door was heard being opened and closed. Elsa's icy blue eyes were still looking forward, straight into body of water. Her eyes were a bland icy blue, as if she wasn't feeling anything at that exact moment.
A single hand was placed on Elsa's shoulder and she knew exactly who it was, but never reacted to it. She just stood in her spot motionless, her face was blank and her eyes were dull.
"Last day and you're just doing nothing?" Olaf laughed, but no response was given from Elsa. All she could do was keep her gaze forward.
Olaf frowned slightly and sat down next to Elsa. He examined the features of his best friend's face and all he could see was a façade. He knew she was hiding all her feelings; all her emotions form him and the world. But Olaf knew that deep down inside that Elsa was breaking down.
Olaf reached over to grab Elsa's hand, smiling slightly when he saw her snap back into reality. He chuckled slightly as he watched his friend roll her eyes at him. Elsa then leaned her head on Olaf's shoulder, feeling him loosen up slightly in order for her to become comfortable.
"I'm not ready." Was all she said for Olaf to smile sadly. He brushed his lips against Elsa's temple and saw her flutter her eyes shut. Olaf laughed slightly and felt Elsa lean her head against his shoulder again. Olaf leaned his head against hers, a mess or dark brown and platinum blonde entangling together.
"No one can really get ready for life. All you can do is face it." Olaf chuckled. Elsa sighed and frowned slightly. They sat in silence, watching burst or yellow and orange flood through the cool, blue sky. The lake sparkled as the yellow and orange grew brighter and brighter.
"It will be best for everyone." Elsa mumbled.
"It will be best for no one." Olaf replied, causing Elsa to flinch slightly.
"If you love something, you'll let it go." Elsa stated
"And if you love something, you'll fight for it." Olaf countered.
"Love sucks." Elsa ended, causing Olaf to laugh. For the rest of their morning, all they did was sit at that exact spot, looking towards the horizon and preparing for what was to come.
It was around lunch hour and Elsa currently in the food court. Olaf and Kristoff had gone to grab food from across the food court while Elsa sat at the table, waiting for Anna to come. She inspected the food court to see family, friends and couples all dine in upon the greasy food on their plate. Couples were enjoying their time, feeding each other and snuggling up at a table. Her icy blue eyes looked down onto the table, her lips slowly curving downwards and her eyes tearing up.
Suddenly, she felt small hands cup her eyes, disabling her from perceiving anything. She felt a warm breath against her ear, knowing exactly who it was on the spot.
"Guess who?' the warm breath whispered into her ear, causing Elsa to slightly shiver.
"Hmmm… I don't know? Could it be that red-head in my Calculus class?" Elsa played. She then felt another warm breath against her ear.]
"Which is?" the voice hinted, causing Elsa to laugh and place her finger upon her chin.
"Ariel?" Elsa's vision was free of darkness and she felt someone slap her shoulder playfully.
"Ha-ha. Very funny." The red head stated as she sat down next to Elsa. Elsa smiled and shrugged her shoulders.
"I really thought it would have been Ariel." Anna simply rolled eyes at her girlfriend's remark and kissed her on the cheek.
"Where's Olaf and the giant?" Anna asked, causing Elsa to laugh.
"You mean Kristoff?" Anna rolled her eyes at her girlfriend's lack of common sense.
"No, the giant. He's literally been at my house everyday afterschool and all he does is eat. My mom enjoys his company because he eats everything she feeds him! Like what happens if I'm hungry as well? He eats everything." Anna said, placing the emphasis on everything. Elsa laughed and kissed her cheek.
"Are you hungry now?" Elsa asked, causing Anna to shake her head up and down vigorously.
"Starving."
Elsa stood from her seat and stuck her hand out, smiling when Anna placed her hand in hers and intertwined their fingers together. The feeling of her soft hands and that small jolt of energy will never get old. Anna leaned her body against Elsa's as they started waking towards the restaurants. Anna's teal blue eyes gazed over the restaurants, pulling Elsa along wherever she went. Elsa smiled and watched as Anna dragged her to a burger place.
"Found those fat morons." Anna stated, causing Elsa to laugh slightly. Before Anna was able to make her way towards Olaf and Kristoff, Elsa tugged her hand slightly.
"Don't you want to order something?" Elsa asked. Anna's eyes widened as her mouth formed an o shape.
"Oh right! Okay, let's order." Anna then dragged Elsa towards the line, causing Elsa to giggle at her.
"You know I will always love you. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. " Elsa said, her voice full of passion and her body facing Anna. Elsa's icy blue eyes gazed over Anna's features and smiled when she saw Anna bite the bottom of her lips slightly and nod her head, a blush slowly creeping upon her cheeks. Elsa grabbed a loose strand of auburn hair as she tucked it behind her ear. Anna smiled and faced forward, giving Elsa's hand a light squeeze.
"She's the best thing that ever happened before me, of course." Olaf said, appearing behind them and causing Anna to jump slightly. Elsa rolled her eyes and knew who was coming next.
"But we all know who is the best thing that ever happened to Elsa." Kristoff laughed. Elsa simply closed her eyes and shook her head, a small smile gracing upon her lips. She glanced at Anna to see her roll her eyes at their behavior and smile as well.
This was the feeling of perfection. This was the feeling of having an amazing life without no worries of the future. This was what Elsa wished her life would be everyday. But in reality, she knew that what would occur tonight would be nowhere near this feeling of perfection.
"I'll see you at home, okay?" Olaf stated, looking out his car window. The individual who he was addressing shrugged their shoulders.
"We'll just see… Just please don't send a search party out for me if I go missing." Elsa stated, her icy blue eyes filled with fear.
"Please don't do anything stupid." Olaf pleaded, running a hand through his wet, brown hair.
"What I'm already doing is stupid enough." Elsa scoffed, turning her back to the car in which Olaf was currently occupied in.
"I'm going to go home and continue my nightly routine. But I am begging you to please not pull any stupid shit… That's all." Olaf stated. Elsa simply nodded her head started walking up the driveway of a pure white house. Olaf sighed, giving his friend one last glance before driving off.
She stared at the snow-white wooden door for what seemed like a century. She could feel the knife pierce through her heart and the blunt object thump upon her head. She looked back into he past, looked back to how they started before. Elsa's lips slightly curved upward at the thought of it all, from the beginning to the end. It's been a great rollercoaster, but the ride was about to finish. That adrenaline feeling will disappear and everything will change. Her eyes fluttered shut and with one deep breath, she placed her hand upon the golden knob and flicked her wrist. She knew exactly who was on the other side of the door, but she didn't know what exactly to say or do. Her vision was full of darkness and her nostrils filled with that scent of heaven. She felt shivers and chills run through her body and upon her skin.
She knew that Anna was in front, staring at her with her big teal eyes in both confusion and worry. Elsa gave out a dry laugh, knowing the capabilities that Anna had. Anna knew when something was up with Elsa in just one glance. No matter how hard Elsa tried to hide it, Anna always knew, and it was one of those traits that Elsa both loved and hated from Anna.
"Elsa…" Anna stated hesitantly and Elsa frowned slightly. Dark clouds outside started to hover over the sky, was if a storm was about to come.
"We need to talk Anna." And that's all it took for Anna's face to go from worry to fearful. Her lips immediately curved downwards and her eyebrows furrowed up. Anna nodded her head and opened the door at a wider angle for Elsa to slip inside.
"My parents won't be home for a while so come on in." Anna said. Elsa simply nodded her head and smiled sadly at her before entering the home.
The howling winds blew heavily outside the home to the point where you could hear the trees ruffling loudly and a few twigs falling on the ground here and there. The rain was pouring and the occasional thunder was heard, maybe once every hour or so. They stood there in the living room of Anna's white home. Elsa came to one conclusion about this whole experience.
Love sucks.
"Elsa… please!" Anna sobbed. Her feet planted to the ground and her tears rapidly running down her cheeks. How many times has Anna even cried these past two years just cause of Elsa Parker?
"I said no Anna… its better off this way." Elsa stood at her place, her façade up. She was trying her best to not show weakness and defeat. She was trying her best not to move and not to shed a single tear. She needed to be strong… for the both of them.
"I thought… I thought you loved me?" Anna's eyes further blurred with tears as she slowly approached Elsa. Elsa never moved from her spot. She stayed planted and watched her lover move closer to her.
"I do Anna. I never regret the rough times and the amazing times we went through together. I still love you Anna." Elsa said, looking at her broken lover.
"Then why are you leaving? Why are you giving up so easily?" Anna yelled, her voice cracking and her hands were clenched into fists.
"Because this is wrong Anna!" Elsa cried, a few tears started to finally build up in her eyes. Anna immediately rushed right in front of Elsa, who was standing her ground, who was trying her best to stay strong for the both of them. Anna grabbed Elsa's right hand and placed it upon her chest, right above her heart.
"We fought this for two years Elsa. Does this feel wrong to you?" Anna yelled, her voice echoing through the empty house. Elsa looked deep into Anna's broken teal eyes and Elsa's own tears slowly slipped down her cheeks.
"This is for the best Anna. This is wrong. All of this is wrong-" Anna interrupted her, her voice shaking but still strong in volume.
"None of this is wrong! Elsa, I love you! We love each other and we can fight through this! Forget about our parents because we'll be out of their sights in a month! Don't give up on us Elsa… please." Elsa pulled her hand away from Anna's grasp and shook her head.
"I said no Anna. This whole thing is all over. I'm sorry." Elsa mumbled and saw Anna shake her head, shutting her eyes tightly as her tears dropped onto the white carpet floor.
"What did I do wrong Elsa? Tell me." Anna's eyes were still shut as Elsa cupped both of Anna's cheek and tilted her head upwards. Anna opened her eyes to see those icy blue eyes. Those icy blue eyes she remembered. She remembered at the sophomore end of the year party, at the first day of school, at the athletic parties, at junior prom, at the football games, at the lake house and at senior prom. They were now glazed with tears and passion. Anna felt the pad of Elsa's thumb wipe her tears away.
"You never did anything wrong Anna." Elsa said softly.
"Then why can't we stay together Elsa!" Anna snapped at her and Elsa sighed, her heart breaking.
"Because… I love you Anna. I care about you and I love you that I need to let you go. You need your parents; you need their support and their help and their love. I'm giving up my happiness for you Anna. " Elsa cried, her voice weak. Something that Anna had never seen before. Elsa was never weak; she was always the strong one in the relationship. And now, here they stood. Anna stood there, staring into those tear stricken blue eyes. No.
"Elsa we can work through this. We can fight through this and we can have our happy ever after just please. Remember what you said? Fight for something you dearly care about and want, fight and never give up at all." Anna choked out and watched Elsa shake her head.
"No Anna. We can't. I'm not going to be a liability to you. I'm not going to hold you back from your college and from your dream job Anna. I'm not going to hold you back to have the best future you can ever get." Elsa murmured and Anna shook her head. She grabbed onto Elsa's hands on her cheek and grasped onto them tightly.
"My future wouldn't be complete without you Elsa. You're my future Elsa and that's all I need."
"No Anna… It's over. I'm sorry. I'm going to be leaving for college next week and you're going to have the time of your life, okay? You're going to enjoy the rest of senior year without me and you're going to go to graduation with that sad smile on your face. You're going to look around at everyone and realize that you went through four years of living hell with them, but still had an amazing time. You'll be better off without me Anna." Elsa's voice was in a soft and croaked whisper and Anna kept shaking her head, refusing to believe all of this. Just months ago, they were living in bliss. They were happy together and nothing was stopping them.
"I'm not giving up on you Elsa!" Anna yelled.
"Maybe if we belonged to different families than this would have worked out. Maybe if I wasn't Elsa Parker and you weren't Anna Arendelle than this all could have gone well. But… we are who we are Anna." Elsa slowly let go of Anna's face and pulled her into a hug. She kissed the top of Anna's forehead slowly and lovingly, as if it was the last time they would share a kiss with each other.
Elsa pulled away from a paralyzed Anna and gave her a broken smile before turning around on her heel and starting to walk out the door. When Elsa had left the room and eventually left the house was when Anna had broken out of her trance.
No. She didn't go through fighting two years just to lose Elsa all over again. She couldn't lose her. Elsa was her life, Elsa was her rock and Elsa could might as well be her blood.
It was funny how just years ago, Anna didn't know who exactly Elsa was. It was funny that years ago, Anna was a spoiled brat that was living the time of her life. Now here she was, losing the one thing that she fought hard for. Losing the one person that she loved with all of her heart.
Anna sprinted out of her room. She sprinted down two flights of stairs and she sprinted out of the door from her house. She sprinted past her parents who had just arrived home. It was pouring, large puddles littered the whole floor but Anna didn't care. She could hear her parents calling for her, telling her to come back and get out of the rain, but she never listened.
Anna ran; ran after the girl that she loved. She could hear her in the distance; hear the soft splashes of water ahead. That just motivated Anna to run faster, knowing that she was close. She wasn't going to give up. She would never give up on Elsa.
And so, Anna sprinted. She ran as fast as she could with her strawberry blonde hair down and wet, sticking to her forehead and her skin. She ran and ran until she was able to outline Elsa's form through the thickness of the rain. One more stride, just one more stride.
Anna grabbed onto Elsa's arm and turned her around, crashing their lips together in the pouring rain. Anna wrapped her arms around Elsa's waist and felt Elsa place her hands onto her neck as they shared their last kiss. Their last touch and their last everything together. Elsa broke the kiss and placed their foreheads together, trying to catch their breaths.
"Elsa, please. I know I've been selfish and stubborn and just a complete bitch these past years with you. But I need you in my life. Please." Elsa shook her head and pulled away from Anna, who had her eyes closed.
"We need to forget about each other Anna. We need to forget about each other because that's the best for us… For you. I know that I'll be fine without my parents because I've been fine without them for years. But, you need yours and you need their assistance and help for college. I can't provide you with that Anna. Maybe after all this is over and after our parents get the fuck over each other… Then maybe we can meet one day in the future and we can have our happy ever after there." Anna whimpered at Elsa's words. Elsa simply sighed and caressed Anna's cheeks. "I love you Anna. And I will always love you. No one can replace you. Not Belle, not Olaf, not even the hottest girl or guy in the world. You're my forever and I will never stop loving you. But you need to be safe and happy which is why I have to let you go."
"I love you too Elsa. No one can ever replace you and I promise you… After college is over and after I find a job, I'm going to look for you. Even if it takes me a thousand years, even if it takes me an eternity. I'll find you and I won't give up." Anna whispered, earning a broken smile from Elsa.
"That's my girl. Until we meet again." Elsa mumbled into her ear and slowly let go of Anna. She turned on her heel and walked away in the rain.
Anna stood there, her whole body numb and her hot tears running down her cheeks. She stayed planted at her spot and let the rain consume her.
"Until we meet again my love." Anna whispered through the loud splashes of the rain drops falling into the puddles. Elsa was long gone and Anna knew that her love for Elsa would never die. She would find her again and they would live their well-deserved happy ever after.
"So… you're really leaving?" Kristoff said, his face falling as he looked down onto the ground.
"Yes, I'm leaving." Elsa said, deciding not to further say anything because she knew that she would break in front of her friend. She was supposed to spend her graduation here with everyone else. She was supposed to spend it with Kristoff, Anna and Olaf. But instead, she was leaving for college early.
"I still don't understand why I can't come along." Kristoff frowned and Elsa closed her suitcase shut. She turned around and finally looked at her best friend and tried to take a picture in her head of how he looked, knowing this would be the last time she would ever see him again.
His hair was really messy and could be considered shaggy in an instant. His blonde hair was a dark-ish blond. His muscles were hugged and contracted against his tight black shirt and navy blue jeans matched perfectly with his attire. His brown eyes looked at the ground and his expression was broken. His eyes shined with sadness and his lips curved down to a frown.
Elsa walked over to her best friend and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him into a hug. Kristoff took a breath and hugged her back, his arms wrapping around Elsa's small waist. He leaned down and placed his chin on Elsa's shoulder. They stood there in a comfortable silence that could last for an eternity. Then, Elsa spoke up in her softest voice.
"You need to stay here to take care of Anna. You guys are best friends as well and Olaf is gone. I want you here to make sure that Anna goes well throughout the rest of senior year. I want you to be by her side and make sure she has the time of her life and forgets about me. Make sure her future is complete and make sure that she goes for her dreams. I want you to make sure that she moves on and finds someone else that is worthy of her love. Find her someone that will love her back just as much as she does and find her somebody that will complete her life, that'll make her happy and forget about me." Elsa said softly. Kristoff just nodded his head against her shoulder and the pair stood like that for the longest time. Then, a knock was heard on the open door in Elsa's room. Both Kristoff and Elsa pulled away and looked up to see Olaf there. His jeans were slightly low ridded and his hair was a dark brown in a tousled mess, as if he had just woken up. His white t shirt finished it off with his light skin as well. He leaned against the door frame and looked at his two best friends, his mocha eyes watering up slightly.
"Well… it's time." Olaf said softly and Kristoff extended his arms. Olaf walked over to the two and all three of them shared a group hug.
"Keep in touch and you guys have to text me every single night and Skype with me at least every other day. Give me phone calls each morning so that I can wake up and feel like you guys are still in my life somehow. Don't find another big oaf to replace me because that's not possible." Kristoff listed off and Olaf sadly laughed.
"Sorry but Elsa and I didn't sign up for a relationship with you." And all Kristoff could do was sadly chuckle.
"We're not in a full, committed relationship so I can't promise the consistency of that, but I could promise myself trying to do those tasks?" Elsa smiled sadly, causing Kristoff to nod his head.
"It's better than nothing. Just keep in touch please." Kristoff said. Elsa and Olaf smiled sadly at their friend. The three musketeers were about to end their life-long career with one another. Kristoff looked at the time to see that school was about to start and their flight time was arriving. With that, he waved his two friends to go off, knowing that watching them leave on his own would break his heart. Olaf took the notion and grabbed his and Elsa's bag, leaving the room forever.
Elsa smiled sadly at his childhood best friend and walked up to him, engulfing him in one last hug in which he took with avarice. Elsa pulled away and looked into his eyes, smiling and wiping a stray tear that was running down his cheek.
"Those doodoo brown eyes better not go anywhere." Elsa laughed, noting how she would call Kristoff's eyes a poop color when they were children. Kristoff simply laughed and said.
"That watered down, banana shave ice hair better not go anywhere as well." And all Elsa can do was smile at him. She looked him in the eyes and stated.
"Please promise me that you'll try your best to make her move on." And Kristoff knew Elsa genuinely loved her to desire her happiness. Kristoff nodded his head and smiled.
"I promise."
"Good."
With that, Kristoff closed his eyes and stood there and Elsa knew her time to leave. She looked at her sad friend one last time, knowing he couldn't bear the sight of watching them leave. She turned on her heel and placed her hand on the doorframe of their room. Now his room and eventually, no ones room.
Elsa looked at his best friend one last time before she left the room and headed down the stairs. The cab was in the front of their home and Olaf had just finished helping the driver pack their luggage.
"Shall we go, mi' lady?" He offered his arm and Elsa took it gratefully, her lips slightly curving upward.
"Off to new adventure?"
"To new adventure."
Epilogue
The room was barley lighted with the curtains closed. All that was really lighted brightly was a corkboard on one side of the white wall.
Anna sat in a black leather chair and stared at a corkboard pinned with the map of the United States on it. Her teal eyes scanned the map from left to right, taking in the little post it notes that were written on certain areas and little red X's in certain towns. She never understood why people always kept moving and never settled down. It was okay to move for business and all, but an individual has to have some kind of safe home to settle down, shouldn't they?
Her tiny fingers drummed on her thigh as she placed a hand on her chin. Her eyebrows furrowed upwards as she analyzed the situation at hand. If her calculations were correct and her odds were high, today should be the day where she would strike luck. She heard a slight creak and turned her head immediately. A big man appeared with brown hair that was now slicked back and gelled up. His attire was very formal and she watched the man open the door and flick the light switch completely on. Anna flinched at the sudden brightness and the man simply laughed at her reaction.
"Being a celebrity sure does make your facial expressions the best." The man chuckled as he walked his way towards the curtains and swung them open. Anna scoffed and rolled his eyes at the man.
"Kristoff, why are you up so early and dressed as if you're going to a party?"
Kristoff walked over to where Anna sat and placed a hand on his chin, looking at the map that she had constructed and defaced. He shook his head at the map.
"I still don't understand what this is exactly."
"It's none of your business is what it is." And Kristoff rolled her eyes at her sass.
"Well… to answer your question Ms. Drama Queen… It's not early, its already mid afternoon. I'm also dressed like this because as your manager, we have to head off to some interviews that were planned for today, so get dressed." Kristoff demanded. Anna sighed dramatically and looked back at the map.
"Could we just… cancel?" Anna asked hesitantly. Kristoff simply spun the leather chair she sat in, causing a small shriek to emit from her mouth.
"Nope, you asked for this life so get dressed. You have ten minutes."
"Bleh, you suck." Anna pouted and Kristoff laughed. He ruffled Anna's hair and smiled at his best friend.
"At least I'm helping you."
"And I appreciate you for that." Anna smiled at her friend. Her facial expression immediately changed and her smile faltered. Her lips were in a straight line and her teal eyes turned blank. "Now get out and let me change." Kristoff nodded his head and waved her off to do her thing before he left the room, closing the door on the way out.
Anna glanced at the map and then turned her leather chair 180 degrees. She grabbed a framed picture that was on the nightstand next to her bed and gazed at it lovingly. She closed her eyes and gave a tiny, sad laugh before placing the picture back on the nightstand. She stood up and decided that she needed to take care of this business later, knowing that her career was calling her at the moment. Anna looked back at the picture before walking away to prepare for her interview.
"You're going to have a great time." Olaf looked into the full-length mirror that a platinum blonde woman was looking into. The girl frowned slightly and grabbed the hem of her shirt, playing with it slightly and doubting herself.
"Why can't we just stay here and watch a movie? I mean, we're leaving tomorrow again anyways so might as well just stay home an get some rest." The girl's icy blue eyes met Olaf's through the mirror. Olaf shook his head and placed his hands behind his head.
"Because you haven't partied and had the time of your life before. All you have been doing since we left high school is working and studying. We've been traveling all over for business and all we do is stay at our hotel, relax and watch a movie. We never really have gone outside…" Olaf laughed and the woman shrugged her shoulders.
"Is there anything wrong with just working?" Olaf walked over to the woman and placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Elsa, enjoy yourself for once tonight." The girl sighed and looked at the full-length mirror again. She was dressed in a black t-shirt and denim blue skinny jeans. Her attire was simple and to the point. Olaf was dressed in a white shirt and dark blue jeans as a contrast. She looked into her own eyes at the mirror and shook her head.
"You know exactly why I can't enjoy myself Olaf." Elsa gave out a dry laugh and closed her eyes slightly. Olaf smiled sympathetically at her and ran a hand through his hair.
"I know, but we have no contact with Kristoff nor her anymore. We don't even know what they're doing with their lives and if it was meant to be…"
"Then we would've found them … I know." Elsa frowned and opened her eyes, seeing how the icy blue was starting to tear up slightly. Olaf sadly smiled at his heartbroken best friend and grabbed her hand.
"Let's just go out tonight and enjoy ourselves okay? Before we have to go back to traveling for our back breaking business." Elsa nodded her head in response and took a deep breath, looking into the mirror one last time. Olaf turned on his heel and walked out of the room and out the hotel room door, deciding that it was best to check if the cab was here. Elsa looked at the upper right hand corner of the mirror to see a picture taped there. She grazed her fingers slightly on the picture before retracting her hand as if it was poison. She sighed and turned on her heel as well before walking out of the room and out the door as well.
"I don't want to go." Anna demanded, crossing her arms like a kid and taking her stand. Kristoff groaned and massaged the temple of his head. It was like arguing with kid at some points of his life.
"Anna.." he started but she cut him off.
"Don't 'Anna' me! Today is a day that can't be wasted! I already wasted half of the day for the stupid interview Kristoff! Yes, I will go out but I'm not going to go to a club with you just so that my image is still attained that I can at least have fun! I don't care about what the press thinks about my social life or anything! We can go another day but today is not the day." Anna growled and stared at her dumbfounded best friend. Kristoff shook his head and groaned back.
"Is this about the Elsa thing again?" And all Anna could do was flinch at his simple response. His simple question that made her teal eyes turn ten times darker. Her hands balled into fist and her teeth slightly gritted at his question.
"Why do you always treat her and Olaf leaving as a stupid thing? As something that should be disregarded? As something of no importance?" Anna watched his friend shrug his shoulders casually, which made her even angrier.
"I feel that you just need to move on with your life." Kristoff said casually. Anna had enough. She restrained herself and instead, turned towards the wall and punched it as hard as she could, leaving a slight dent in the wall with her knuckles a bright red. Kristoff looked at her questiongly and she glared at him in response.
"Move on with life? I've been trying to track her and Olaf down ever since we got out of college! I've been trying so hard to find out why she's exactly moving all over the place and I've been trying so hard to know where her next destination is! I love Elsa, Kristoff! Why can't you understand that I can't just move on with life because my life is still out there!" Anna yelled and Kristoff had enough. He had enough of her stubborn attitude and her moping decisions. It was sweet and all, but Kristoff made a promise he knew that he couldn't break. He had to place his foot down now.
"Do you know why I've been trying to make you move on with life? Do you know exactly why I've been trying to have you socialize with other celebrities and do you know why I was jumping with joy when you became a celebrity? Because I knew that these things would help you move on with life, Anna! I made a promise to Elsa before she left for college that day and do you know exactly what she wanted me to do? Do you know how hard I've been trying because I know it would be the only thing she would want to make her happy? She and I made a promise with each other that last day and it was about you, Anna. I'm not making you move on because I feel that you need a new life, but I'm making you move on because I was told to! Do you know what exactly that promise was, Anna?" Kristoff gritted his teeth and watched his friend's demeanor change from anger to fear.
"She told me that all she wanted in life was for you to be happy. She told me in exact words that she wanted met to be by your side and make sure your future is complete. She wanted me to make sure that you went for your dreams and she wanted me to make sure that you would find someone else worthy of your love, someone else that would love you back as much as you will. She told me that she wanted you to forget about her and to have the time of your life! Do you understand how hard I've been trying to keep that promise for her? Do you understand why I'm trying to make you move on with life? It's not because I don't want you to forget about her, but it's because she wants you to forget about her! I'm just trying to keep that one promise, that one and only favor that she asked me all those years!" Kristofff yelled and all Anna could do was stand there.
The once confident and sassy girl had now changed into fearful. Her teal eyes watered up and tears streamed down her face like a leaky faucet would. She was in a daze, a daze of sadness that Kristoff knew she had to face eventually. He sighed and watched his friend stand there, her knuckles also bleeding profusely onto the ground.
Kristoff turned on his heel and walked to the closet that held all the first aid things. He grabbed the bandages and turned around to see his friend fallen on the floor, her eyes closed but her tears falling at a faster rate. He frowned and walked over to her. He grabbed her knuckles and cleaned up her cuts before wrapping bandages around it. Throughout the entire time, all he could hear was her restrained sobs and feel her salty, wet tears fall onto his hand.
He grabbed her chin and made her face him. Her eyes opened and her gaze met with his. He smiled sadly at his best friend.
"We can stay home and watch a movie if you want to?" Kristoff suggested but Anna shook her head. She stood up, tears still streaming down her face as she made her way towards the stairs.
"Get ready, we're going to the club and we're leaving in five."
Kristoff watched his friend walk up the stairs and knew that she was up to something, probably something ridiculous and stupid.
"What are you up to?" Kristoff asked, looking at Anna with curiosity. She had her hair down and in the front of her body with a short, black dress to finish her simple and easy attire. Anna simply shrugged her shoulders as if nothing had happened an hour ago. They entered the club and was shot with flashing, bright lights. Kristoff sighed and knew he wouldn't get a response from her.
"Are you going to be dancing or?.." Kristoff asked but Anna shook her head and pointed at the bar.
"Nope, I'm going to spend my entire night at the bar." And Kristoff watched as Anna strutted her way towards the bar and knew exactly what she was doing for the night. She was going to drown her sorrows with a bit of support and motivation from the poisonous drinks.
Anna sat on a stool next to a stranger she didn't really care for or look at. She called the bartender and asked for the most expensive drink possible and he nodded his head and obligated to her wishes. She heard a small chuckle from the individual next to her and rolled her eyes, only seeing from the corner of her eye that the individual was wearing a black, leather jacket.
"Expensive drinker?" Anna knew it was a female voice but she didn't know exactly who. It sounded vaguely familiar but she couldn't put a finger on it. The bartender came back with her drink and she thanked him for it before downing it and slamming it on the table with the shot glass empty. She heard the voice laugh again as Anna asked for a cup instead.
"I'm assuming you're getting drunk because something unfortunate had occurred?" the voice said and Anna nodded her head. The bartender came back with a cup of bourbon and Anna nursed it carefully.
"Yup." Was all she said, still not having the desire to look at the stranger. Maybe she could have just a blind conversation.
The stranger was Elsa. She sat there, but didn't look at the girl next to her as well. Instead, her eyes were contently ahead of her as she scanned everyone dancing. Elsa didn't care for who was next to her, so she didn't really spare a glance at her as well. But she did enjoy talking to this stranger without looking at them.
"So why are you here?" Anna asked the stranger. Might as well just keep the ball rolling.
"Kind of the same situation as you."
"What's up with you?" Anna asked, downing the bourbon and asking for another refill.
"Love." Elsa said dryly.
"Same." Anna stated as they both never looked at one another.
"What's your situation?" Elsa asked and Anna laughed slightly. She played with the bourbon in her cup and decided, why not? But first, she wanted to try something daring. Anna grabbed a piece of scratch paper and scribbled her number down before sliding it to the stranger next to her, still deciding not to look at the stranger.
"Here's my number before I turn into a complete drunk and forget all about this conversation. I like talking to you." Anna said and she saw in the corner of her eye that the stranger laughed and took the number, shoving it in the pocket of their jeans.
"We'll see." Elsa laughed again. "So what's up?"
"You know, the typical Romeo and Juliet love story except without the happy ending. Families hate each other and the loves are separated. They don't die together in love, but instead they're separated in love. I've been trying to find my Romeo for years but I had no luck to it. My manager/best friend had just told me how my Romeo basically wanted me to get over her and now I'm here, drinking my sorrows out like an idiot." Anna laughed, taking a sip of her drink. The stranger gave a laugh of her own and nodded her head.
"That must really suck for you."
"Yea… out of all the people that I could've fallen for, I fell for her. She made me open my eyes and change me for the better… She made me better. This is a living tragedy." Anna took another sip of her drink. "What about you? Why are you drinking your sorrows out?"
"Basically same story as you." Elsa laughed, still deciding not to look at the stranger beside her. "I loved a girl in this small town that was way out of my league. Our didn't get along. I wanted what was best for her and let her go." Elsa finally took a sip of her alcoholic beverage. "But I'm pretty sure she has moved on with life and found the one for her." Elsa gave out a dry laugh and Anna simply nodded her head.
"Same."
"My friend made many attempts for me to move on, knowing that the love of my life is probably married with two kids. He set me up with many blind dates." Anna nodded her head and kept listening to the stranger's story. "Those blind dates, although some of them were the sweetest people possible, just were not the right people for me…"
"Well that sucks." Anna finished her drink and asked for another refill
"It does indeed. I could have never fallen in love with anyone else. Every time I went on a date, all I could think about was her. I eventually gave up and just engrossed myself in my work." The bartender came back with another refill for Anna and Anna thanked him again.
"Keep going." Anna persisted and the stranger gave out a small laugh.
"I know I can never move on with life because she will always be in my heart somewhere. But as long as she's happy out there in the world with whomever she is with, I'll be happy. I just hope that maybe one day, I can see her one last time to get closure, you know? I just want to make sure she's happy with her life, with her spouse and her kids if she is in that situation."
"Do you wish that if you do meet her, she would be single?" Anna asked, staring down at her drink. Elsa laughed and looked down at the table.
"Honestly… That would just be a bonus. What I really do wish though is that if I see her again, I would want her to be happy with life. I wouldn't want her to be content, but genuinely happy. I would want to see her having the time of her life and be genuinely happy. I just want closure on her happiness really… If she's single then I will try to win her love back again but if she's happy with another person, then as long as she's happy, I can live with myself."
"So will you ever fall in love with someone else if she was with someone?" Anna scanned the drinks at the bar, but listened intently to the stranger's reply. She had no desire to look at this stranger, and the stranger didn't have any desire back. They never made eye contact with throughout the night. Neither of them made eye contact with each other and instead, just talked the night away blindly. Even after both had left, they never looked at each other.
"Probably not… I would probably just keep working and working. No one grabs my attention because she has it. No one can really grab my heart because she has it in her possession and she can keep it for as long as she wants. I should have fallen out of love and fell in love with another person, but instead I didn't. I guess you can say that she was and still is the only exception." Elsa laughed and Anna soaked in the words before repeating it in understating.
"Huh… The only exception."
