Dan went back to Chloe's not long after he was sent back from… Heaven. That was weird to even think inside his head. He had literally just been to Heaven. His daughter was still there. God was real. Lucifer was the actual Devil. Dan always believed God was real. He'd grown up in a religious family. He wasn't crazy about it, like some were, but he always believed in God. However, it was much different than actually being in the same room with God.

Dan was furious as he made his way to Chloe's front door. Her actions were the cause of all of this. Their daughter was in Heaven without both her parents right now because of Chloe. Yes, Dan knew he held some responsibility too. His poor decisions were why God brought Trixie to Heaven instead of giving her to him, but the entire situation would've been avoided had Chloe not pissed off God.

Dan didn't even bother knocking before walking inside. Once he got inside, he found Chloe pacing the kitchen.

Chloe stopped the second she heard the door open. "Dan, thank goodness. Are you okay?

Dan looked at her incredulously. "Are you freaking kidding me? No, I'm not okay. I just had a conversation with God. Freaking God!"

Chloe sighed. "Well, at least you don't think I'm insane, and you understand the things I did now."

"You think I understand you nearly murdering someone? You know what? Let's table that for a second. You fired a gun in the same room as our daughter," Dan said in a furious tone.

"Okay, I shouldn't have done that. I panicked. Lucifer's brother was talking to Trixie. I warned him to get away from her, but he wouldn't," Chloe explained.

"So, you thought shooting a gun inches away from her would protect her?! Even if I bought that you were trying to do it, that would be the most asinine way to go about it. And you should know that! You're a detective, Chloe! You know firing a gun with innocent people around can end in tragedy! That's why we don't it if there are any other options! And in what universe did you think a gun would do anything to an archangel anyway? The only person that would've been hurt is our daughter!" Dan yelled.

"Okay, I know, Dan. It was a mistake. I regretted it almost instantly," Chloe said.

"And what about poisoning Lucifer? Any regrets there?" Dan asked. He doubted it. Chloe had so far shown no remorse for what she did to Lucifer. It seemed to bother her that anyone thought she had even done anything wrong.

"I was trying to protect the world. Lucifer is dangerous. He's the devil," Chloe said.

Dan shook his head in disbelief. "You tried to murder somebody, and you want to justify it?"

"I wasn't trying to kill him," Chloe said.

Dan huffed in frustration. "It doesn't matter! You drugged him, which would've directly led to his death if you hadn't been stopped! If it was at all prosecutable, you'd still be looking at murder charges if he died!"

Chloe shook her head. "No, this is different! Lucifer is the Devil!"

"So what? You think that makes a difference? You think it makes it okay?" Dan asked in disbelief.

"Why don't you? You hate Lucifer, and now you know he's the Devil. Why do you care what happens to him?" Chloe asked.

"Because I have a conscience, Chloe. Because he's shown more concern for our daughter lately than you have. And maybe because I just had a conversation with God, who is damned pissed about all this! You know, you didn't just screw over yourself with what you did. You screwed over this whole damned planet!" Dan yelled.

"How was I supposed to know that he would react like that? God is supposed to be forgiving. He's supposed to love humanity," Chloe said.

Dan laughed. "You know, I know you're not religious, Chloe, but have you ever even read the Bible? God's wrath is just as great as his ability to forgive, maybe even greater. And you tried to murder his son. Think for a minute about what you would do if someone like you tried to kill Trixie and you had the kind of power God does."

Chloe shook her head. "That's not the same thing."

"Oh, it's exactly the same. A parent's love is unconditional. You wouldn't want Trixie dead no matter what she did. What makes you think God is any different. I had a conversation with him. Believe me when I tell you that he is a father above anything else. And you think you know better than him. You must, right? You have been told by God himself that what you did is wrong, and you don't care. You have no remorse for what you did. My God, Chloe, I don't even know you anymore. I don't know if I ever did, in fact," Dan said.

"Okay, stop! Don't act like you've never done anything terrible! You were a corrupt cop! You shot Malcolm. Your dealings with him almost got me and Trixie killed!" Chloe snapped.

Dan nodded. "You're right. I've done plenty of things that I'll have to answer for one day. The difference is that I took responsibility for them. I never sat on some sort of high horse and acted like I was justified. And I never tried to hurt someone just because he existed. Lucifer never did anything to you. No matter what my issues were with him, he was completely devoted to you."

"That was how he appeared to be. The Devil is said to be the greatest liar in the world," Chloe said.

Dan laughed, because the thought of Lucifer telling even a single lie was ridiculous. If there was only one thing he knew about Lucifer, it was that he wasn't a liar. "And that is the most ludicrous thing I've ever heard, and it should be for you too. Lucifer would kill himself before he'd tell a single lie."

"I can't believe you're actually defending him to me," Chloe said.

"Neither can I. I can't believe I have to. You should be the last person I have to defend him against. After all he's done for you, I shouldn't have to say any of this to you. Do you know what the sickest part about all of this is? You wanted Lucifer in Hell. If you'd told him that, he might have gone willingly just to please you. That's how devoted he was to you," Dan said before heading for the door. He could stomach being anywhere near Chloe for even another minute.

"Dan, wait! Tell me about Trixie. Is she okay? Is she with you?"

Dan sighed before turning around. "No, not yet. She's in Heaven with Lucifer and God until I can prove myself."

"Because of your drinking," Chloe said in a judgmental tone.

"Don't you dare!" Dan snapped. He wouldn't take this from her ever again. God, Lucifer, and pretty much everyone else could say what they wanted about his poor parenting decisions, but he refused to ever hear it from Chloe. She lost that right when she fired a gun in the direction of their daughter. "You don't ever get to judge me on my mistakes again! You hurt our daughter and changed the world she'll grow up in! You don't ever get to say another word to me about this matter."

Chloe didn't even get another word in as Dan stormed out of the house.
