Together We Make Shadows
Chapter Seven
Neville smiled as he greeted Luna, he was glad to have her back after he'd failed to protect her on the train. Too much had changed in the past year and he'd grown a lot. When Harry had left the school he was the one that seemed to fill the hole that the boy who lived had left. Him little clumsy forgetful Neville, his grand had been so proud. Harry hadn't returned to school having left on very important mission of stopping Lord Voldemort. Little stumbling clumsy Neville had made his gran proud, he didn't shy away like everyone expected, people looked up to him and he didn't disappoint.
Together with Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood they'd become the leaders of the DA. Taking over from Harry, Hermione and Ron. Everything had been going well up until the train trip home for Christmas. Luna had been kidnapped by Death Eaters during the trip home and Ginny never returned after the holidays. The red head was shipped off somewhere safe with her older brother Bill and apparently Ron who was no longer travelling with Harry and Hermione. Neville the worst student in his year level, was left managing the DA by himself without his friends to turn to for help. Somehow even without his close friends help he succeeded in keeping students safe. Planning attacks on the Death Eater teachers and students. All the same he was glad to have Luna back in his life.
"Do you remember Ryou Bakura?" Neville asked Luna, already knowing the answer.
"Oh yes he was always nice to me. A little bit shy and had a strange magical aurora about him. Dark natured magic aurora if I'm not mistaken."
"Ryou's an evil wizard?" Neville asked her slightly scared. Even though the veela boy was in Slytherin he wouldn't pick him as being evil.
"Oh no. Just because his magic nature is dark doesn't make him evil. Just like dark creatures aren't evil, such as thestrals and grims."
Both those types of creatures honestly scared Neville; he'd prefer to stand up to Death Eaters again then face a grim or ride a thestral.
"He took guardianship of his sister Amane. She finally got to leave St Mungo's" he told Luna happily. "I'm going to miss seeing Amane all the time, but leaving that place is for the best. I don't think she was going to recover being stuck with people three times her age or older."
"That's excellent news. I wish I got to see Amane more often. I always get mistaken for a patient of the long care ward anytime I visit St Mungo's. It must be my pale skin; it doesn't look like I've been in the sun for a long time even though I sunbake on a regular basis."
Neville laughed at Luna's statement it was sad that she had to prove she wasn't a patient every time she visited the hospital. It had made visiting friends and family such a hassle.
"Since it was you-know-who that made Amane like that; do you think when he is fully dead that she will go back to how she was before?" Neville asked sadly.
"I don't think she can ever go back to the person that she was before. But I believe she will one day recover enough so she doesn't need constant supervision, that she will get treated her own age instead of as a child. Amane's very special; and not just because she's a veela. She has a very special magic, light natured magic. Even though her magic nature is the opposite of Ryou's they are each other's magical equals. Just like Seto and Yugi are each other's magical equals."
"Seto, that's the name of the person who was with Ryou. He looked a little bit scary, but Amane seemed to like him."
"How was Seto when you saw him?"
"Scary"
"I mean, did he look healthy?"
"He looked just like a normal healthy teenager."
"Really, that's good" Luna sighed in relief and Neville found himself feeling slightly jealous of Seto even though he'd only met him once.
They sat in silence for a while longer.
"If he truly has recovered, then there is hope that your parents may one day recover. But then again Seto's light nature magic may have healed him."
"What are you talking about?" Neville asked, really confused what Seto had to do with his parents.
"Seto was held captive with me by the Death Eaters for the same number of months as myself. They tortured him to near insanity. By the time we were released from the Death Eaters custody he had so much nerve damage that he could shook constantly. He could barely walk. He wasn't always coherent with is speech and then some days he was a complete vegetable."
"That's amazing; I wonder how he did it." Neville smiled, imaging what it would be like to have healed parents. It was something he'd imagined many times before in the past, but this time he had a glimmer of home. Even if that glimmer was only a small little speck of light.

Amane looked around his mansion with childlike innocence. She took to Yugi immediately. Trying to treat the older duellist as a little boy since he was shorter then her. She liked Yugi a lot and Yugi liked her back. Yugi didn't have any issues with her treading him like a child, he just treated her like any of his other friends. Considering how well Yugi got along with children, it made sense that he'd also get along with Amane.
They were not at his long mansion for too long before it was time to head back to Japan. In fact they were all long overdue to head back to Japan and the trip was very much welcome by the whole group. They had some loose ends they needed to take care of before heading to Egypt to try and get the Millennium Tome before anyone else did. Though a part of him did wonder if it was safer left where it was then recovering it.
They were walking to the airstrip at the back of his property. Amane was fascinated with the plane. She'd been asking questions non-stop about all the technology she was seeing; especially after being away from any technology for years.
Once in the plane itself Amane noticed the television and pointed to it asking if she could watch cartoons; naming a heap of old cartoons that all of them had grown up with, telling him how much she missed tv. She had good taste, a lot of the shows she listed he'd loved when he was younger. Luckily for her he'd had a couple of the older cartoons. He'd choose one from the list, surprising Bakura and Yugi that his private jet had cartoons considering how much he bashed them and claimed to hate them in front of Pegasus.
"They're for Mokuba." He told them when he sat back down, not telling them that he'd only put shows he liked when he was younger. Some of the shows Mokuba liked he detested with a passion.
Mokuba on the other hand didn't have any issues telling everyone that he wasn't allowed to have all the cartoons he liked on the plane. "If they're for me I would never have several of the cartoons you've got on here. They're really old and I don't like the style of animation. This is one I really don't like."
"Yay they speak Japanese." Amane clapped. Sitting in front of the television glued to it. "In my room everyone always speaks English, only Ryou, sobo and sofu speak Japanese around me."
With Amane so happy watching the cartoons Mokuba couldn't complain. The conversation moving to cartoons and games they liked when they were younger. The age difference between Mokuba and the rest of the group more apparent than normal and for a brief moment Amane actually felt like she was the same age as everyone else. He had to admit he was having fun. It was nice being treated like the teenager he was instead of the adult he portrayed.
It was fascinating watching Amane and Ryou interact with one another. They spoke this butchered form of mixed Japanese with English whenever they where communicating by themselves. Yugi sat trying to follow their conversation but not being able to speak English very well he struggled to keep up. He however had no issue considering how fluent in English he was, but you wouldn't find himself speaking like that.

The trip home on the plane was peaceful, even so they were still happy to be back on the ground again once they had landed. The Ishtar siblings where at the terminal, Ishizu gave Amane a questioning look before placing her hand up to her necklace. "It's a pleasure to meet you Amane, I'm Ishizu and this is my brother Marik and Radish."
"You speak Japanese." Amane clapped happily. "Do you speak English?"
"I do. I also speak Arabic and two Ancient dialects of Egyptian."
Marik had greeted Ryou and Yugi enthusiasticall;, pouting because he wanted to see the 'fun Bakura.' He couldn't see how Yami Bakura could be considered fun; he hated spending too much time with the homicidal maniac.
Ishizu ended up walking with himself while Amane held Yugi and Ryou's hand's walking between them happily. Marik chatting Ryou's and Mokuba's ears off about motorbikes.
It was the first time Amane had been to Japan in years; she was excited to be back letting go of Yugi's hand pointing out everything she missed only to grab Yugi's hand again to drop it a moment later to point out something else. Their luggage was left with the plane while they walked back to the mansion. It was a nice sunny day; after being stuck in a plane for a number of hours they were all enjoying the walk. When the tarmac was on your own property it wasn't too difficult to walk to the house.
Authors Notes: I normally try to stay away from using Japanese words but in this case I have decided since Amane and Ryou are bilingual in my story they call their English grandparents grandma and grandpa and their Japanese grandparents sobo (grandma) and sofu (grandpa) occasionally they may call their father tousan.
I haven't had much review wise for the second part. Feedback/criticism to how the story is going much appreciated. Thank-you.
