Sorry about very long long long long wait...But enjoy!
Susan woke up on the deck of the ship engulfed in fog. She heard a growling noise. She stood up quickly noticing Caspian was gone and something moved through the fog. The mysterious object jolted the ship to the side and sent Susan falling to the ground. She then saw a pair of glowing red eyes on her. A dragon moved through the fog. Susan wanted to move but she had so much fear inside her, she was glued to the floor. The dragon kept his eyes on her and then blew deep orange-red fire at her. She screamed.
Susan woke up very abruptly and was breathing heavily. She looked up at the dark sky and realized it was still night time. She felt her husband move around a little in his sleep. She was glad she didn't wake him. He needed his rest. She felt his forehead as an instinct and it was warm. He still had a fever.
She cursed to her self, "Damn people always wanting to kill kings for power."
Lucy paced back and forth. She couldn't believe what she saw. Could she lie to her family to save them? Of course she could. But Lucy knew as well as anyone else, she was a bad liar. One time Edmund had a surprise party for his tenth birthday. Edmund noticed his sibling were being secretive and were keeping something from him. So he went to Lucy and she blurted the truth.
Frederick watched as she paced back and forth mumbling to herself. She was the only reason he wasn't freaking out. After watching her for ten minutes, he stood in the middle of her pacing way.
She tried to shove past him but he was too strong for her. "Lucy...Lucy we need to talk about this together."
Lucy sighed deeply and knew he was right. "All right. We need to do as she says. I don't want any deaths. But what does she want with Susan and Caspian's child?"
"I don't know, but we need to protect the ones we love. Even if that means hurting someone in the end."
Lucy had all her weight fall on Frederick and he caught her. They hugged for what seemed like an eternity. When Lucy pulled away she spoke with a lump in her throat, "I think we need to sleep before we do anything."
Frederick nodded, he knew tomorrow was going to be a long day.
In the morning, Caspian and Susan were awake bright and early. She sent him to his bed due to his fever. She started preparing the ship for another long odyssey before they reached land again. Markell came up behind her and frightened her.
She felt her heart jump a little, "Markell! Don't scare me like that!"
He looked sad as he said, "I'm sorry Queen Susan. I didn't mean to frighten you."
"It has always been just Susan," She noticed the sad look in his eyes, "Markell, what's wrong?"
"Rose and I are leaving. She still thinks you and I have feelings for each other. I tell her all the time nothing is going on between us. I realized the best way for our marriage to prosper is to leave. There's a ship in the harbor waiting for us and I just wanted to say goodbye."
Susan felt tears prick her eyes. Damn pregnancy hormones. "I'm sorry that she feels that way Markell."
"I am too. She's not being herself. I don't know why."
Susan moved a little closer to him. "Well I guess this is goodbye for a while."
"I guess," He held out his hand for her to shake it. "It has been fun Susan." She shook it and then pulled him into a suffocating hug. She nuzzled her face into his neck so he wouldn't see the tears.
When they pulled away he noticed her eyes were red and puffy. "Are you crying?"
"Yes...Its these stupid hormones."
Another tear fell and he wiped it away, "I'll see you very soon. And hopefully very pregnant."
She laughed in a sad way, "Yes, hopefully. Goodbye Markell."
He gave her a crooked smile and jumped off the ship into the ocean. She ran to the deck. "Markell are you mad?"
"All of us are in some way Queen Susan!" He then got into the small boat and rowed himself back to shore.
Lucy handed the woman in the cloak the paper about Susan. When the woman walked away, Lucy heard her heels click against the cobblestone road. Lucy shivered from disgust. She just betrayed her family. But she needs to protect her family more than anything. Frederick squeezed her hand and smiled lightly at her. "It's for the best Lucy."
She leaned against him as they walked towards the dock to get on a boat. They rowed to the ship and noticed Susan. She wasn't hustling about like normal she was leaning against a wall looking pale and rubbing her stomach.
Lucy ran up to her and hugged her sister. "Susan I love you so much...you know that right?"
"Of course Lu. But if you really love me you would let go of me. I feel like I'm going to be sick at any given moment."
Lucy pulled away and blushed, "Sorry Su,"
"Go tell Peter he's in charge and he needs to make sure everyone's on board. No one gets left behind. Except for Markell and Rose, they won't be with us any longer."
Frederick spoke up before Lucy, "Why?"
"It's personal and not for me to talk about. Sorry,"
Frederick started to walk away to find Peter. Lucy stayed with Susan. "Susan?"
"Yes?"
"If you had a secret you had to keep from someone you loved to protect them, would you keep it from them?"
"I...why? Is someone threatening you Lucy?"
"No..no I was just wondering."
Susan looked out towards the ocean, "Well I guess I would. Keeping secrets from people you love isn't easy. But it's a sacrifice you have to make. Keeping people safe is what it's about in the end."
Susan made her way to the deck and got violently sick. When she was done she looked at Lucy. "Sorry not a good way to end a conversation."
Lucy talked to Susan's belly sarcastically, "Way to interrupt you little stinker."
Susan and Lucy giggled like real sisters would. Lucy almost forgot about what was really happening.
Frederick found Peter helping Louise back onto the ship. "Peter, Susan said that you were in charge and to make sure everyone is accounted for excluding Markell and Rose."
Peter nodded and Frederick walked away. "Louise, go and lie down. You need rest for the baby."
"Peter wait. I think the best thing for the baby is for me to go home."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, I saw some ships in the harbor and we have money and extra men. I could go home. I could watch the kingdom and it will be a better fit environment to give birth."
Peter looked at anywhere but her trying to think of an excuse for her to stay. But she was right. It would be safer for her and the baby. He sighed, "You're right. I'll give you five men and some gold to buy a ship."
Louise saw the grief in his eyes. She put finger under his chin to look at her. "Hey, I know you want to be there for me during the entire pregnancy. But I would rather have a baby then nothing at all. Do you understand?"
Peter stared into her beautiful eyes, "Why don't I go with you?"
"Look around Peter, your family needs you." He knew she was right again. He pulled her into a hug. They kissed passionately until Peter pulled away. He placed his forehead against her own. "I love you."
He bent down and kissed her belly. "I love you too."
He kissed her one last time before she started to walk to the edge of the ship. "Wait! Louise! Aren't you going to say goodbye to everyone else?"
She turned to look at her husband lovingly. "If I said goodbye to anyone else I might not be able to leave Pete."
He watched as she got onto a boat with five men and row away. Susan ran to Peter's side and shoved him. "Why didn't you tell me she was leaving?"
Susan yelled, "Louise!" Louise turned around and waved to Susan. The ship started to take off and Susan was about to jump in. Peter held her back.
Susan looked at Peter angrily, "I need to say goodbye!"
"The ship's leaving Susan. It's too late,"
Susan and Peter watched as Louise's figure got smaller until she couldn't be seen anymore. Susan smacked Peter across the face and stormed away.
Edmund watched this happen and went up to Peter. "What did you do this time?"
"I let Louise leave without saying goodbye."
Edmund looked at him confused, "She was her best friend though."
"I know but Susan would have talked her into staying. You know how manipulative Susan is."
Edmund smirked, "I know all too well."
As Markell and Rose were already on sea, a familiar ship approached them. Not the one where most of there friends are, but the one with mostly enemys. They heard shouts of joy come from the ship. But Markell wasn't joyous not joyous at all.
