Everything for the Black History Celebration was scheduled to take place today. I was eagerly awaiting it because many people would attend and give performances for the school. I was so proud of the Woodcrest black community when they all joined together to perform. Even so, I was happy that my friends and other people of color wished to participate in the show. Even though it's not as customary, it's nice that they wished to partake as well.
Aaliyah and I had a lot of work managing everything because almost everyone in the A.F.R.O Association wanted to take part in the shows as well. Because Jazmine featured in many of the performances, we were eventually able to schedule them all properly.
We didn't want this to cause the show to run late. Since Jazmine needs time to change and prepare for her upcoming performance, we always space them out by two to three acts. She needs to get dressed, do her hair, and possibly touch up her cosmetics. Then she must speak, but if she is unable, Hiro will speak in her place.
The majority of the school had bought their tickets for this and were already seated in the auditorium. I was glad we were able to raise more than enough money to go on any other trips if we wanted to.
Another reason students bought the tickets is because of the Friday Night game for the basketball team. We were going against our rival school, and everybody was hyped up.
I was still surprised the dance team decided to partake in this once again because they were going to have to stay longer tonight. The basketball team wasn't going to be as tired because they didn't put as much work in as the dance team.
The person who I once again was worried about was my girlfriend. She was doing several performances and I could tell she was tired as hell. She didn't want to admit it, but it was written all over her face for the past couple of weeks.
I'm glad the day has come because I got tired of her stressing herself out. After today we can go home and chill out.
But I say I did loosen her up after we came back from our romantic weekend a week ago. She was a little upset she was sore for a good minute but then she shook it off and continued her normal routine.
The sexual vibe between Jazmine and me didn't leave because we were giving each other the looks every chance we got. I don't like that sex is always on my mind but it's for a good reason. I'm not just doing it for fun, I'm also doing it because Jazmine and I enjoy the feeling of being pleasured.
I think that's normal between two people who are romantically involved with each other.
Jazmine and I were doing good, but I feared that our relationship might not end so well due to a certain someone who was trying so desperately to earn my attention.
Aaliyah wasn't crazy, but she wasn't smart either. I hinted to her multiple times that I'm not interested in her and that I have a girlfriend. She knows it's Jazmine and she gets riled up every time I remind her.
Today I was avoiding making conversation with her since I didn't want to hear her out on how she truly felt. It seemed as if she was doing the same thing because she was avoiding me as well. She already knew what she had to do and that was to make sure the people who were performing had the speakers on their bodies or to make sure they started their performances on time.
I on the other hand was checking in with everyone just to make sure everything was in line. I had a headset on me so I could talk to Hiro. I had to let him know when to do certain stuff.
I know I could talk to him on my phone but that's not the appropriate device to use when on set.
I spotted Jazmine who was preparing to go on stage, and I had seen Aaliyah helping her pin a speaker on her clothes. She looked as if she didn't want to be doing it.
I felt my heart skip a beat and not in a good way. I feared that Aaliyah may say or do something stupid. I didn't want her telling Jazmine what happened between us.
I wasn't as innocent in this either. Aaliyah was right, I did kiss her back and that wasn't right. I knew I had a girlfriend, so why kiss her back? Was it just because I was angry, did I actually like Aaliyah, or was I a little unsure about my relationship with Jazmine?
Don't get me wrong I love her, but I sometimes get confused on where we stand in our relationship. I don't like the idea of her being with other guys and she wouldn't like the idea of me being with a girl.
But if Aaliyah were to tell her about us, would Jazmine have the right to get mad? I would say both yes and no, only because she isn't as innocent in this either.
Yes, as my girlfriend it would be understandable for her to get upset about Aaliyah and I kissing. But then no because she kisses and hugs Caesar right in front of me and I don't think that's appropriate. She would actually get a taste of her own medicine on how I feel when she does this with Caesar.
Another thing that might come against all my points is that unlike Jazmine and Caesar who were pretending, Aaliyah and I weren't pretending. It was actually real!
I liked the kiss we had but at the same time I didn't like it. Reason is because I'm with Jazmine and I don't like how the kiss was better than the kisses I had with Jazmine.
Even though Aaliyah and I were mad at each other, I just don't know why it was better than the ones I had with Jazmine. I like Aaliyah but I didn't see her in the way I see Jazmine. I always had a liking for Jazmine since freshman year of high school.
I think that can also be from growing up with her. I didn't like her at first but as I got to know her over the years I started to like her more and more.
With Aaliyah, she just came out of nowhere. And it's weird because she's of the few people in Woodcrest who doesn't make me feel like an outcast. Don't get me wrong, I have Jazmine and Caesar who are always here to support me in every decision I make in life but they don't fully get where I come from.
I sometimes see the odd looks the two of them give me. They just don't get my whole view on things, but Aaliyah gets it. According to Riley and Cindy, Aaliyah and I both act alike and have a lot in common.
I find that to be a good thing that there is someone who shares the same views as me. Riley and Cindy think otherwise because they don't exactly like having someone like me around all the time. They find me to be a fun killer and nuisance to be around.
It's a little hurtful but not as much because it's Riley and Cindy, they find anybody who has a sense of urgency to be an annoyance to them.
I kept watching Jazmine and Aaliayh until Jazmine walked on stage to start the showoff, "Welcome to our first Black History performance, we have our students who were nice enough to come to perform for you guys. First, we will welcome the King of Pop, MJ!"
Well damn, that was quick! We are on a schedule, so I don't blame her for giving a quick introduction.
The lights turn off and then the spotlights turned on to present Riley who was in the suit. Then another light turned on to show Caesar in the same suit. As I watched the two look at each other confused and upset, I decided to watch how this would play out.
I wasn't kidding when I said I would put them on with the same song if they continued to get on my nerves. For a second, I thought the two of them would start fussing and fighting with each other, but they instead ended up having a dance battle.
Caesar went first to start it off while Riley went after him. As I watch them have a dance off the crowd started to get riled up and cheer them on. They weren't doing a bad job, but I have to admit they looked pretty gay doing all of this.
I'm used to seeing Caesar and Riley act masculine, not fruity. I don't discriminate but it's just odd to seem them doing it.
Once Caesar and Riley were done with their Michael Jackson dance, they exited off the stage sweating and huffing and puffing. Caesar went on the other side, and he looked to be talking to Jazmine and the basketball team.
Riley walked towards me with a smirk and simply said: "I was better than that gay ass nigga!"
"You should have just gave me the song," he lastly spoke before he left.
I didn't know if he was talking about Caesar or MJ himself.
"Let's thank Ceasar and Riley for performing Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. Now let's welcome our basketball team who will be doing a scene," I heard Jazmine say before she left the stage again.
Some of the boys and girls varsity basketball team came on stage and formed a semi-circle.
"Cue, start the music," I whispered in the headset to Hiro.
Not long after I heard the bouncing of a basketball come on and I had seen Jazmine bounce the basketball towards Austin who picked up the ball a little surprised.
Not towards Jazmine but as an act for the performance. The basketball team started to do the basketball scene that was performed in Scary Movie 2. I found the scene to be amusing and wasn't disappointed when they performed this.
Everything was on point with the beats, ball control, pass, and even dance moves. Although it was odd to see some of them dancing it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. They were doing better than I can do so I couldn't judge.
After they were done with their performance, Jazmine entered on stage once again before she had to go start changing: "Let's give our Varsity Basketball team another round of applause." "Now you will be presented with a performance by the Panthers!"
The other group of steppers Jazmine and Olivia had a problem with for the past couple of weeks had entered on stage. I was going to stay and watch their performance but Jazmine had that microphone attached to her body.
I had to go retrieve it so I could keep it on me for the time being. The theater teacher and students told us not to lose any of their equipment since it was expensive. I didn't feel like being responsible for it going missing so I was going to make sure it was all safe and sound.
I spotted Jazmine from the corner of my eye rushing to the dressing rooms to go change. Instead of disturbing her, I decided to wait till she came out. I didn't feel comfortable with her being in there since someone had died in the closet. But I guess it was smart of her to go in there since she didn't want to be crowded in the girl's locker room. Then again, it was also dumb because someone died! Shouldn't that like give you a warning not to go in there?
Who am I kidding, this is clearly her white side activating!
Almost all of them were in there preparing to get ready for their performance. Meaning they were doing their makeup, and hair, and getting dressed. The dressing room had limited space and everybody couldn't be in there to get ready.
Jazmine came out of the closet with her camouflage overalls on along with some makeup. It looked like she and the dance team were celebrating Memorial Day. They looked nice but it made me curious about what they were going by.
Jazmine started to look nervous for a second until she found me: "Huey!"
"Jazmine, is there something I need to help with you?" I asked adjusting my headset for comfort. She nodded her head and I gave her my full attention.
"I don't know where the other speaker is at, and I'm supposed to be going up next with my group," she said sounding stressed. I made it easier on her by just taking away the speaker.
"It's alright, I'll just notify Hiro to introduce your group," I said pulling out my phone to text Hiro. See, I knew this would happen! She was going to get overwhelmed with going back in forth with performances and I made sure to have Hiro as backup.
"Thank you so much, you are a lifesaver," she breathes a sigh of relief.
"No problem, by the way, what is your group called?"I asked out of curiosity. I hope it was nothing bad because I did not want my girlfriend to go on stage and embarrass herself.
"The Crocs!" she proudly spoke as I looked at her funny. Did she just say crocs? That is not an animal. You can't name your stepping group after a material. Especially a stupid material that everybody likes to wear.
Wait, I'm getting too far of myself. I should ask her before I start assuming the worst.
"I don't mean to be slow, but do you mean the animals or the shoes?" I simply asked to get my assumptions cleared. "The crocodiles silly! At first, we kept debating with the animal we were going to choose and we didn't think we could do panthers since it was taken, so we went with the crocodiles. It matches our uniforms and it's part of Africa," she explained.
She had a good point! I couldn't even be offended by it. Crocodiles were also a representation but not in a good way. People in Africa are not fond of crocodiles.
"Okay, I can't argue with that point in choosing the animal...but break a leg!" I said wishing her good luck. I didn't want to ruin her mindset on the history of crocodiles so I decided to let it go. She looked proud of the name that she and the other steppers came up with.
"Will do so," she said before leaving to go to the dance team. They all looked nervous while watching the Panthers perform their step. But I'm not gonna lie, they were doing a pretty good job and I couldn't help but smirk at how scared they were.
I felt a little guilty due to me dating Jazmine, but you have to understand most of the girls were either white or colored girl. I didn't blame the Panthers for getting upset with them because stepping is part of the black community. It's very sacred to us and for them to try to do the same thing seemed like a threat. As if they were trying to take this away from us as well.
I didn't have much say on this because I did say they had to do something that was performed by an African American. But I didn't think stepping was going to be one of them.
Once the Panthers got done on stage and the lights went off, I made sure to cue Hiro. "The Crocodiles are next!" I whispered into the headset.
"Copy that, over!" he said.
When the lights went off Jazmine and Olivia both went on stage. There were people getting the fog ready for their performance and I was amazed because they were fin to go all out.
"Okay everybody settle down, we have another group coming up, give a round of applause for the Crocodiles," Hiro said introducing them as the lights dimmed a bit.
Jazmine and Olivia looked at each other for reassurance before they started to perform.
"Ladies!" Olivia said in her girly tone.
Both the dance and cheer teams started to step their way on stage to get into their formation. They surprisingly made the sound of their steps sound effective which shocked me. They stood in a moment of silence before Formation by Beyonce came on.
They were off to a good start. As they kept going on they were doing drops, flips, and being totally in sink with each other. I hate to say it but they all actually did a pretty good job. Even if I didn't think they could perform it well they still showed up and showed out.
When they were done with their performance they left the stage and started to cheer on the other side. I bet they were relieved that the crowd actually liked them. I had spotted Jazmine going into the cloest once again and I couldn't help but follow. I hated when her white side activated on some occasions. She could not be in there alone.
I walked in on her as she was taking off her clothes and I couldn't help but admire her figure.
"Huey, what are you doing in here?" she asked shocked.
"Making sure no pervert comes in here and does anything funny with you," I simply answered as if I just didn't barge in on her. "I'll doubt that will happen," she said as she continues to undress.
"You know someone had died in here right?" I said making her self-aware.
"I'm aware, but since there would be people around I thought it would be okay to come in here, plus I wanted to be alone. Knowing me I would be in the locker room socializing with other girls," she explained as I sighed. The fact that should be talking to everybody in there.
"Would you mind?" she said with her tone changing. She was a bit hesitant about removing her clothes and I just rolled my eyes.
"Why you act as if I haven't seen you naked before," I said.
"I know but it's weird for me because you tend to get a little horny at the moment," she said as I almost smirked. "I don't get that horny, but I'll turn around out for your sake," I defended before turning around. I wasn't thinking about getting horny until she mentioned it.
It would be nice to do it in a closet, but that would be wrong because someone died in here.
"Thank you!" she said kissing me on the cheek. "Okay, see this is how it gets started," I exclaimed as she started to giggle. I turned around and waited for her to get dressed in her other outfit.
"Okay you turn around now," she said as I turned around to see her showing a lot of skin. What the hell was she wearing? Don't get me wrong, she looked good in her one-piece uniform, but I didn't want her to go out in front of everybody with that on.
"Something wrong?" she asked.
"Yes, I don't like the outfit," I truthfully spoke.
"Why it's cute," she whined.
"It is on you, but don't you think it's showing a little too much skin?" I pointed out.
"This is the type of stuff I wear when I'm performing," she argued. "A leotard, but don't you guys sometimes wear leggings and a shirt?" I said trying to encourage her to put on some more clothes.
"That's when we're practicing, but why don't you like it?" she asked as I looked her up and down, again. "For starters, it shows your figure, gives your ass a perfect shape, and there are a bunch of perverts around here," I said as she started to smile at what I was saying.
Oh shit, she's sensing I'm jealous.
"Other than that I like it, I just wish I can only see it instead of other people," I said looking away from her.
"What you want to do some nasty things to me later on?" she seductively asked making me hard. She was trying to lean in for a kiss in which I was about to fall for. I wanted to kiss her desperately but I didn't know if this was the appropriate place. It sure would be fun to do it at school, but there are people outside that could possibly hear us. Some of them had probably seen me follow her into the closet.
"I mean I wouldn't exactly mind doing anything later on," I said hinting for some alone time later. I leaned in for just a kiss, but then it became something more. Her lips were so soft and welcoming to the point I wanted to get down and dirty with her right then and there. But that was until she bit my bottom lip which caught me off guard.
"The fuck!" I exclaimed. I pulled away from Jazmine as she looked at me nervously.
"What was that for?" I asked rubbing my lips. "To stop it from escalating," she said walking past me to leave. I couldn't let her get away with biting me on the lip, so I decided to slap her ass.
"Ow!" she jumped in surprise. "What was that for?" she exclaimed as I simply answered: "A little payback for teasing me."
I left the room so I could go back to trying to keep everything in line.
Ming and her friends were performing Waterfalls by TLC. They were definitely setting the vibe for everybody and it was pretty chill. I could see Hiro at the top recording her like a proud boyfriend.
I don't know why I couldn't do that for Jazmine's performances. The step show wasn't going to be at a good angle since she was either at the front or moving around while another girl was blocking her. Maybe I could record the one she and Oliva were going to be doing.
"Huey," he heard someone say his name. He looked down to see that it was Aaliyah who called for him.
"Yes," he sighed.
"Who's up next? Do I need to get the speakers for them?" she asked professionally. It was her job to make sure people who were doing a monologue had their own speakers attached to their bodies.
"Oliva and Jazmine are going up next. The speakers aren't going to be required until the end with the history class performing their monologues," I informed.
"Oh, you mean the girl that you took a naked picture with on Valentine's Day," Aaliyah mentioned being petty.
"If you're referring to my girlfriend then yes," I said with my tone filled with sarcasm.
"Right," she said nodding her head. She was about to leave when she said, "You know, I don't understand why you had to send the picture."
I looked at Aaliyah as if she was stupid because why wouldn't I take the picture? Sure, it was without Jazmine's permission but I had to get her to stop.
"Why I had to?" I questioned.
"What I mean is that it was rude and disrespectful," she said as I wanted to laugh at her on the spot.
"Rude and disrespectful?" I said.
"Yes!" she exclaimed.
"So you mean to tell me it wasn't rude and disrespectful when you sent me a nude knowing I was in a relationship with Jazmine?" I questioned as she looked too stunned to speak.
"I was drunk that night. Me and a couple of my friends decided to go out and I ended up getting a bit tipsy. When I got home that night I did not expect to send you that picture," she said a little embarrassed.
"Well for one, you need to control your drinking because you're not like that, and two, you could have explained it instead of pinning me as the bad guy," I said as she looked at me funny.
"But you are the bad guy! You're brushing away what happened in the room that day didn't mean anything," she said getting upset.
"Look Aaliyah, it did mean something to me, but once again, I'm in a committed relationship with Jazmine," I said to her once again.
"You mean the one that's always on another nigga?" she said crossing her arms.
"What nigga?" I asked as if she was dumb.
"Well I have seen two so far, which happen to be your best friend Caesar and that lightskin basketball player Austin," she said as I rolled my eyes.
"Jazmine has nothing going on with the two of them," I said in denial. Aaliyah just started laughing and shaking her head.
"Boy you're slow as fuck!" she mumbled.
"If she not rubbed up on any of them then what do you call this?" she asked gesturing to the performance that involved Jazmine and Austin dancing together. I don't know why I all of a sudden felt slightly jealous watching her dance with another man.
I had never seen her and Austin interact as much in that type of way until they started practicing with each other. For her to move up on him like that had me curious if there was something else going on between the two of them.
I don't mind a simple dance, but him touching her in certain areas and her moving on him in a certain way did not sit well with me. I wish I had looked at all the performances before I allowed such a thing on stage. She and Olivia definitely wouldn't have been doing that dance that was performed by Cardi B and Megan the Stallion.
I had to brush all of this out of my head because it was bothering me. I didn't want to think any differently about Jazmine especially since we were doing so well. We have been good ever since we came back from the hotel on Valentine's Day Weekend. It was able to build our connection with each other and we didn't get into as many arguments about our secret relationship.
"You know what, I'm not going to keep arguing with you over this. You can see for yourself how's she fooling around with them behind your back. Give me a call when you're ready to talk like mature adults," she lastly spoke before leaving.
I sighed as I watch the performance end and the history students started to get ready to go on stage. This was the last act of the day and then afterward I could clean up and go home.
I had spotted Jazmine and Austin exchanging a few words and I just sighed because I was hoping that Aaliyah would be wrong about her.
Thank you for reading!
