Together We Make Shadows
Chapter Ten
They'd been in the tomb just over a week when they finally found the Pharaohs burial chamber containing the sarcophagus. It was unlike anything he'd seen before. In the tomb wasn't only the pharaoh's sarcophagus. It also contained several others.
"He buried himself with his queens and children he outlived" he looked at the baby sized coffins. It was heart breaking to look at. About six of them altogether, plus three others of slightly older children. All he could think was what if it was Mokuba who died instead of his mother. If he had children in this time period, would that be their fate?
"According to history, Pharaoh Set only took two wives. So why are their three coffins?" Marik asked his sister.
"Kisara" he answered. Looking at the sarcophagus that was the first of the three. Even though she was a commoner, she'd still got the burial of a queen. A smile showing on his face. "She would've been his only Queen if she didn't die." In the second coffin was Isis and in the final coffin was Mana. "Mana would've been you're Queen if you had lived Yami." He told the spirit.
It was odd for both Ishizu and himself, there they were standing in a tomb with their past selves dead bodies laying before them. To Ishizu the knowledge that Isis and Set had been married in their past life was still fresh knowledge she didn't know previously.
On the back wall where three tablets. In the centre the tablet for the blue eyes white dragon. To the right was the dark magician. Finally on the left the dark magician girl. They could feel the energy coming from the two of the tables. The one of the Dark Magicican Girl didn't contain a human soul like the other two. She was a ka spirit that just happened to share the image of the one she was bound to; unlike the Dark Magician who was fused with his ka spirit. Kisara was also fused with her ka spirit.
"The tablets found by Pegasus in the temple must have been replica's." He looked at the three ka tablets with Yugi who felt just as much of a connection with them as himself.
He placed his hand on the tablet feeling just as much of a connection with the dragon tablet as he did with his cards. Below the tablets was a pedestal with dragon eggs on them. The pedestals saying what type of dragons the eggs came from. He'd been disappointed not to find any dragons guarding the tomb, but personally dragon eggs were even better. Most of the dragons where from duel monsters, a stasis spell was placed over the eggs. Their where also dragon names he didn't recognise as coming from the game duel monsters but suspected that was only because they didn't have tablets recording their existence, or the tablets had broken or the tablet temple holding them had never been discovered. He took pictures of the eggs but decided to leave most of them for now, adding hatching dragon eggs to his to do list once the tome and everyone else was safe.
When they got the sarcophagus open the tome was exactly where it was supposed to be. He could feel it calling to him in his head, asking for him to touch it. It was like the whole world around him had stopped moving, everything else was silent, he could feel the Shadow magic pouring off the book, but it wasn't evil feeling like other shadow magic, it was relaxing, natural, it felt right. He picked up the book and when he did he felt his spirit being pulling into the shadow realm, along with Yugi and Yami.

The two boys and the spirt found themselves standing in purple haze. Standing in front of an elderly man. The old man was standing with much pride and had a regal air about him. His skin was wrinkle with years. The man was older then Yugi's grandfather, how much older they were unsure, it was hard to point out and exact age. He was clean shaven with robes of royal purple the same colour as what he often wore, garnished with silver a matching head dress hiding if the man had hair or not. The feature that stood out the most was the blue eyes, piercing blue eyes, caring, loving, knowing eyes. The windows of the soul and his soul showed wisdom.
"I know you." Yami was the first one to speak. The spirit walking up to the old pharaoh. "But I don't know how. I don't know your name or face but I know that I know you. Do I know you?"
He watched the interaction of the two spirits. A slight family resemblance showed between the pair; it was like looking at a grandfather standing with his grandson. Yugi stood next to him while Yami went and spoke with the elderly pharaoh.
"You knew me quiet well my Pharaoh" the older Pharaoh replied with a bow. Showing the younger spirit respect. "You cannot remember me. When you sealed yourself within the Puzzle, your memories where erased in order to protect the world from the evils of the Shadow realm. Something is trying to awaken that evil; I have felt the Shadows stirring ever since your reincarnation awaken you."
He watched as the elderly Pharaoh looked at Yami with loving caring eyes, it was like how he looked at his brother Mokuba. Those two where family and had a deep connection much like the one he shared with his brother. It was odd, he was feeling the emotions and feelings and occasional thoughts of the old man standing in front of him. The old man hugged Yami with loving care. With a slow walk the old Pharaoh came over two the two boys and also gave Yugi a quick hug and thanked him for caring for his Pharaoh and accepting him into his heart and soul. Finally the elderly man turned to face himself. He could see that Yami still had questions, but they would have to wait.
"You've had a hard life that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy." The elderly man told him with sadness and regret coming through. I can feel your emotions just as much as you can feel my own. You know who I am, but you don't want to believe it."

The Millennium Tome began to glow in his hands, he felt at peace and before he knew it was dragged from the shadows leaving Yami and Yugi behind. He was entered into another realm. It wasn't the shadow realm. He didn't know where he was, but the place felt homey. This room had pale blue walls with pictures of dragons, the blue eyes white dragon being the most prominent of the dragons. Other dragons from the game where also on the wall. Like the wizardry photos and pictures the dragons were flying around the wall. Photos lined the wall mostly with Mokuba in them but a few had his mother and father. The occasional one with Yugi plus one picture with Kasumi and Luna. He'd never seen the two girls together and never looking as happy as they did in the picture. Other pictures contained Roland and a few long time members of staff. Ishizu, Ryou and Marik were in a couple. One even had the mutt Joey, Tristan and Tea. There was a book case filled with books on different subjects lining one of the walls. A chess table sat in the corner with duel monster cards and other games he'd mastered over the years. Another corner looked like his personal lab, with technology everywhere, at varying stages of development. In the centre of the room was a bed that looked just like his bed from his childhood home before his father had died.
He took note of the door and walked through it into a hallway and standing in the doorway was a young man who looked almost like him. The main difference between the pair of them was the clothing and the other man had tanned skin.
"Come my cute descendant and re-incarnation" the other man requested. He glared at the man for calling him cute, but followed him into the room anyway. It was like an ancient version of his own room. The walls where stone and like his own had paintings of duel monsters all around the room, except painted in the ancient Egyptian style instead of Japanese anime style like his own dragons. They flew lazily around the room. There was also a book case in the same corner filled with books and tomes another corner was old styles games and two tablet with duos and the blue eyes white dragon. The other side of the room was a lab with potions ingredients and the lingering feeling of spell work with projects of varying ages. The desk next to it contained the Millennium Tome and in the centre of the room was a simple straw bed. The only thing that didn't look ancient was the photos. A lot of a woman that he assumed was the spirits mother, the name Itet came to mind. Yami, a girl who looked like Amane who he assumed was Kisara, the dark magician girl, a woman who looked like Izhizu most likely Isis, the previous Pharaoh and the master of the millennium eye as well as the other millennium items holder.
It was like looking into a mirror with the layout of his room and the spirits room.
"The photos you see are from when I was this age and younger." The sprit pointed out. He aged himself to look like the old man he was before he died and the some of the pictures around the room changed.
He glanced at pictures he knew where the spirits family, his children and grandchildren.
"As you have already worked out, I am Set. I was once Pharaoh of Egypt, before that High Priest and even before that I believed I was simply a commoner. I had no idea of my royal heritage. And more importantly I am your ancestor. You are a direct descendant of my oldest son. My child with Mana who became ruler of Egypt after I passed on."
"Yugi's also a direct descendant isn't he." Was the first thing Seto asked the spirit.
"Yes" he replied but not elaborating which line Yugi came from. "You are wondering why I am here? After my cousin Atem died I became Pharaoh, we didn't know we where cousins for a long time while growing up. It was only in the months leading up to his death that the truth about my heritage became known. The council had accepted me as a direct heir to the thrown if anything was to happen to Atem. My heritage was announced to the nobles, priests and priestess who I was when the war became too much. People started worrying about Atem not being married or taking a Queen. The war was awful and he didn't want to bring a new life just for the purpose of an heir because he knew that heir would most likely grow up without him as a father. There was also unrest between the people since Atem announced his interest in marrying Mana instead of a girl of noble birth. The people wanted him to marry a princess from one of the neighbouring kingdoms for a peace treaty, in order to forget the last marriage that had gone badly between the two kingdoms. My mother was the princess of the neighbouring country, she was meant to marry the oldest son, Atems father, but instead married the youngest son, my father Master Akhnadan."
"I already know all this, get to the point" he snapped at the spirit who looked like an old man.
"Oh yes, where was I? The war took a turn for the worst and Atem ended up sealing his soul and the soul of Alibaba the king of thieves into two of the items."
"Puzzle and Ring."
"He used his name to seal the magic. I broke his puzzle and cast a spell so only his re-incarnation could complete the puzzle. I have my suspicions that you as my reincarnation would've also been able to complete the puzzle. You inherited the power to un-weave the magic that I placed. It was a simple spell that causes confusion." The elderly man chuckled. "It makes the puzzle seem more complicated than it really is. The puzzle has a more complex spell placed on top so the simple confusion spell so it can't be broken. I then had more complex spells placed on Atems tomb so only a chosen few would be able to enter the tomb and return alive. I instructed my family to keep watch so the tomb would be well protected. I planned for many years how to protect the items. It wasn't safe to keep them all together. It was with a heavy heart that I had mine and Isis's children who'd followed in our footsteps of priesthood to guard our items; the necklace and rod. The ring was evil and while Mana was alive she was able to contain the evil magic of the item. We had it buried and placed under the ruins of its creations. Heavy protective spells weaved all around the Ring, but the item had a way of un-weaving magic that was placed on it. Unfortunately the item had to be left on its own, without a guard. Since the item corrupted the minds of anyone that tried to strengthen the spells protecting the item. The other three items were buried in different locations spread over Egypt, but from my understanding Priest Shada who died in the war with the tomb robber had managed to tie himself to the ankh; he took it upon himself to test anyone that came in contact with the items to find out their worthiness. From what I understand the other items ended up with him over the centuries. He would leave the items with people he believe where worthy to hold an item and then claimed that item back when they passed on.
"The tome is different than the items. It doesn't have any magical properties like the Millennium Items have. Yet it is still deadly in the regard that it tells how the items were created. Step by step instructions how to create the items, use the items and even instructions on how to use the shadow magic without the items. Some of this knowledge passed onto you when you where re-incarnated. I didn't let you have all the knowledge that I know in regards to the items. In order to protect the items I spent the later years of my life casting spells over my tomb in order to protect the ancient book. Yes the book was even considered ancient in my own time. Once I was certain my tomb and tome was as safe as it could be, that I had tied up all my loose ends and before I became to physically weak in my old age I tied my soul to the tome to ensure that it would be safe until you came along."
He didn't even get a chance to respond to Set. He was transported back to the realm where Yami and Yugi where both still standing. The realm he had been in previously was his soul room. The Pharaoh was now young again, looked mostly like him, sharing his clothes this time. The tan and the look in their eyes where the only differences between the pair.
"Dear cousin. It is time for you to remember. In order to remember you need to find out who you once where and continue the path that was set out for you. You need to finish the trials and make an important decision. Will you cross over, sealing the Shadows with you. Or will you lead the a new council of Shadows in this new era of darkness."
KC
The old spirit didn't give Yugi and Yami a chance to respond either. The two boys and the two spirits were returned to the tomb where Ishizu, Marik and Ryou where waiting. He could see the high priest as a spirit like he could with Yami and the thief king. It seemed that Yugi and Yami could see the high priest yet still couldn't see the thief king. It didn't seem like the thief king could see this new spirit either. He had the oddest sensation as Set took over and he found himself standing in spirit form. Yugi was also in spirit form and he looked at him in just as much surprise as he was feeling. The spirit in control of his body held up the tome and started chanting.
"I have unbound the tome from my tomb." His body announced, it was strange seeing his body talk and being a spirit, and having thoughts drifting between himself and the ancient spirit that were not his own.
"Yugi, do you ever get used to this feeling of weightlessness?" he asked the other spirit.
"It takes a while, but yet you do eventually get used to it. Sleeping in your soul room in time will also become relaxing and feel homely after a while."
The ancient spirit in control of his body went to introduce himself to his other two descendants.
"Ishizu, I wish that Isis had her spirit released. You'd make a good host for her spirit." He teased his many times great granddaughter.
"It is an honour to meet you great and noble ancestor" she bowed politely to him.
"I'm glad to see that you where reborn as such a sweet and kind hearted boy." He greeted Ryou. The Thief King took over for a few moments threatening death.
"You have a great evil attached to your soul." He announced. "You are warranted you're hate after what my father did to you and you're family. In the process you have tainted you're soul greatly. The time is coming that you either cross over, or discard the darkness attached to your soul.
It was a jarring feeling being placed back in control of his own body after being in spirit form near his body. He honestly wasn't expecting it. It was odd feeling his connection to his past self and not being able to cut it off.
They had what they came here for. The tome would be coming with them after all. It was now time to leave but he knew that they would all come back here one day.
KC
It took another week to exit the tomb after they found the tome. They made their way out of the tomb where they found the Weasleys siblings waiting for them. It seemed that the rest of the wizards had moved on elsewhere. Apparently word of Death Eater activity in another area they'd gone to investigate.
"We recovered the tome." Izhizu announced to them. "The fewer people who know what it looks like the better, so you won't be able to see it."
Bill was disappointed but understood why. Ron looked grouchy at the announcement. Ginny looked slightly annoyed that they had waited around for so long to see the interesting magic book but still where still not going to see it.
He walked to the tent where he knew computer gear had been setup and printed out photos for Bill that he knew would keep the curse breaker interested, yet at the same time wouldn't reveal too much information about his new spirit or the Millennium Items or anything about the ancient past the shadow wielders didn't want anyone else knowing.
"Good choices my cute descendant." The spirit told him while looking over his shoulder.
Having the spirit constantly with him and reading his thoughts was going to take some getting used to. He kept thinking of things he didn't want the spirit to know and thus because he thought of them the spirit ended up seeing the exact thoughts. He also printed out pictures of dragon murals and the dragon eggs for Charlie.
"Several of these dragons have been thought to be extinct, we've never even found clear pictures of them before, just remains." Charlie pointed out. "And these eggs, that is the most extensive dragon egg collection I've ever seen."
"And the best thing about those eggs is they have a stasis spell on them." He told the dragon keeper. "I bought one up for you, in the game of duel monsters he's known as baby dragon or thousand dragon. It's the easiest one out of the Pharaohs collections to raise."
Charlie took the egg, he was stunned as the Japanese businessman explained to him and Bill what they needed to do to remove the stasis spell.
"This baby will have to wait till after the war." Charlie said sadly. Which was why he hadn't bought up a dragon egg for himself to hatch.

They didn't wait around before heading back and seeing their family. Yugi's grandfather hadn't been outside the tomb when they had returned, he was back at the Ishtar residence with the siblings of the other members of the group.
He stood back from everyone else while Yugi ran to his grandfather and Marik ran over to his older brother. Ishizu walked over to their older brother at a slower pace than her enthusiastic younger brother.
Amane had been chatting the ear off of her nurse maid, Ryou hanging back just enjoying the fact his sister was so happy.
Mokuba was ecstatic to see him and ran and pulled him into a big hug which he gladly accepted. The hug didn't last as long as he'd expected when Mokuba pulled away.
"There's something different about you" he stated, looking at him with concern.
"Unfortunately I picked up a hitch hiker." he replied.
Mokuba looked at him with concerned confusion.
He explained about the soul attached to the Millennium tome. Thanks to Set, he was now like Yugi and had a the spirit of his ancient past.
He allowed the spirit to take over to introduce himself to Mokuba. So Mokuba knew that this new side to him wasn't a threat. First sign of the ancient spirit wanting to harm his baby brother in any way and he'd make it a point to exorcise the spirit himself. That got a chuckle out of the ancient spirit.
"What are you laughing about?" Mokuba asked the spirit.
"Oh you're brother just threatened to exorcise me if I ever harm you." The spirit told Mokuba.
KC
The spirit let Seto have control again when he'd notice Ryou now fussing over Amane. Seto got so many mixed feelings from the spirit that he thought he was going to collapse. It had been rather embarrassing the past week for the teenager. The thoughts that came through his link with the ancient Pharaoh anytime he looked at Ishizu or caught glimpses of Mana's paintings and statues that where in some of the rooms. It looked like he had to add Amane to the list.
"Fate is cruel." Set told Seto sadly. "Your friend Amane, she's Kisara's re-incarnation."
The one girl he his past self had loved more than anyone else. The one that had died before they even had a chance to be with together. Killed by his corrupted and possessed father. The ancient spirit had always hoped his beloved would be reborn, have a good healthy life. Live a long happy life with his reincarnation. He also wondered if Kisara and the Thief King where related in any way since there reincarnations where siblings in the timeline. The timeline had a way of keeping relations close. In her current state Amane was off limits to his favoured descendant. She was off limits to everyone and no one was allowed this girl. Anyone that even attempted to violate her would be sent on a one way trip to the deepest and darkest reaches of the Shadow Realm, no matter who they were.
Speaking of people that needed one way journey to the deepest, darkest regions of Shadow realm; was Thomas Riddle Jr. He'd already had several parts of his soul sent to the afterlife and the shadows. He'd caused a lot of damage to his reincarnation. Amanes current condition was also to blame on this vile man. His permanent downfall was coming and had started the day he'd kidnapped and tortured his cute other self. The self proclaimed dark lord had no-one to blame but himself for his upcoming demise.
