A Spy's Life Reboot Ep 28: Attack of the Sandman

In a research lab at a college campus, a young man is strapped to a bed-like machine with wires all over and a visor on his eyes as a doctor is at an observation deck, ready to begin research. "Okay, Christopher. Time to find out what is causing your nightmares." The man types at his computer, activating the machine as Christopher is asleep and, in his dream, appearing on the edge of a large skyscraper as he was panicking and sweating from the view, feeling his fears taking over.

The doctor took note of this on the monitor as he writes it down. "Ahh… It looks like you suffer from Acrophobia! A classic fear of heights." Suddenly, the computers start spewing purple slime as the researcher was stunned! "What in the—" Just then, a giant, clawed hand reaches out from the computer and grabs the man, holding him up as he screams in fear.

Intro:

The screen is black, only for a bolt of green lightning to makes a flash of white light as upbeat music is heard.

Ben stands as he is smirking at the camera as a black with green bubbles background is behind the tween, making the boy raise both his arms and shows off his new Omnitrix and then slaps down with a grin, making a flash of light.

"BEN 10!"

"He's a kid and he wants to have fun!"

Upgrade with hands on hips appears as a close-up of his face shows up in the background as a bolt of lightning comes down.

Big Chill flies across and freezes as the same thing happens to Swampfire, leaping out of an explosion.

"But when you need a superhero, he gets the job done!"

"BEN 10!"

Shock Rock smashes his fists together, sending out waves of electricity that affects the 4th wall.

"With A device that he wears on his arm."

"He can change his shape and save the world from harm!"

Ben poses with his Omnitrix, just as headshots of Shock Rock, Water Hazard, Big Chill and Crashhopper show up, one-by-one.

Rath was staring at Grey Matter, who hopped along a bunch of platforms with the watch symbol on it as the tiger alien was confused before it turned into rage as he held his head in anger.

"When trouble's taking place."

Ben was then running towards the screen.

"He gets right in it's face!"

"BEN 10!"

Humungousaur, Slapback, Fasttrack and Gravattack's headshots show up as well!

A green circuit board background is shown as 5 aliens show up in a row as Ben was staring at the 4th wall as his right side is shown. The aliens are Shock Rock, Fasttrack, Rath, Swampfire, Gravattack and 4 Slapbacks.

"When lives are on the line."

The same thing happens with his left side as more aliens appear. The aliens are now: Big Chill, Water Hazard, Grey Matter, Humungousaur, Crashhopper and Upgrade, which is still in normal form.

"It's hero time!"

It ends with Ben and Alex, standing side to side with crossed arms and smirks as well as Normie and Madison on Ben's side and Sam and Clover on Alex's side the title appears above.

At Beverly Hills JR. High, Ben was chowing down on candy at a table as Normie came up with an arm full of them. "Ben! Check out what I traded the Clark brothers for our lunches! 3 Hersey's bars! 5 Milkey way bars! 4 Kit Kat bars! And 2 king-size packets of M&M's!" "Do you know why I like candy, Normie, my chum? Because it gives us tons of energy!" Ben grins out as he felt the sugar coursing through his system as the blonde grins out. "I know!" He then starts chomping on a chocolate bar as well.

But at 6th period, both boys felt sluggish as they could barely stay awake as they felt their eyes getting droopy. Ben tried to stay awake, only for his head plunk down, falling asleep as the teacher came up and frowns. "Ahhh… Learning. So, rewarding nowadays."

After School, Ben is back at the house as he was at the table with his sister as a laptop is in front, facetiming with Ben's adopted parents. The boy was barely awake as the teen had a concern look while the parents were not happy. "Ben, we need to talk, young man. We just received an E-Mail from your English teacher." "Again." The mother spoke out as Dr. Vasquez reads from it. "He said that you ate too much candy and fell asleep in his class." "Again. For the 3rd time this month!"

Alex adds in. "Come on, Mom! Dad! So, Ben went a little overboard with the sweets. He can't help it, he's only 11." "Alex, you're in charge of him while we are away, right?" "Yes?" "And you realize how bad you look of you let your little sibling, that you are supposed to be watching over, get himself sick or do badly in school because of your lack of responsibility, young lady?" Alex suddenly felt small with a blank look as she slumps down with storm clouds over her at what her mother said. "I see what you mean…"

The man on the screen then spoke as Ben barely notices him. "See, son? This is a problem. You eat all those sweets and you do get a quick energy boost. But after a while… BAM! You drop like a rock! Which is why we decided for the weekend, you are off sugar." "And Alex is going to make sure you stay off, right, sweetie?" "Yes, mom." Both parents smile in response as the screen shuts off. Alex stood up with a look of determination. "All right, little bro! I'm going to make sure that you recover from this sugar problem to show Mom and Dad just how responsible I can be! Are you with me?!" She grins out, only for it to drop as she noticed Ben has fallen off the chair and fell asleep, making her have a blank stare as she glances up with a sweat drop.

The next day at the city, Ben and Normie were walking on the sidewalk as the blonde spoke to his best friend. "Yeah! So, your mom called my mom, and now my allowance is cut off as well as the sugar, for the weekend!" "Yeah… Me too… Alex went overboard as she starts locking up everything with sugar in the house, the moment Mom and Dad ended the call. Guess she's feeling guilty about the whole 'looking after me' thing. But on the plus side, at least we're waking up." Ben spoke out as they sometimes yawn a bit as they kept walking but were improved as they managed to stay awake. "Yeah… At least today is slow with no bad guys around." Ben smiles out, only for a limo to drive up and 2 Forever Knights grab the 2 boys by surprise and drive off.

Before the boys knew it, they find themselves in the Forever Knights' throne room. "But Paranormal on the other hand…" Ben deadpans out before yawning as well. "Hey, guys… Whoa! What happened to you, boys? Late night marathon?" Maddie questions as she munches on a Milkey Way bar as the boys noticed. "Where did you get that?" Ben drools at the chocolate, caramel and nougat candy "What? This? Daddy gave it to me, along with some other candies for doing so well with my Piano lessons." She bites into it with a smile as the boys were in envy. "I would not recommend that, Square Tennyson and Ewing. Your parents put you on a strict no-sugar diet for the weekend for a good reason." Sir George spoke out as he appears and sits on the throne.

"Hey! How do you—" "Now! For the reason I summon my young team of monster hunters. You are journeying to the University of Sydney to investigate a young maiden that has not awakened from her slumber in 3 nights. Her name is Carrie Hunter." "It must be some sort of storybook-style sleeping spell! You know, kind of like a Sleeping Beauty situation." Normie grins out as a thought bubble displays a sleeping princess as Maddie got an annoyed look as she guesses. "And let me guess, a young prince comes along and wakes her up with a kiss? I don't think so." She reaches up and pops the bubble as Normie glares at her as Ben is too tired to try to stop as he yawns. "Anyway, sally forth young ones and investigate the anomaly!" Sir George declares. The kids went thought the portal in response.

Team Omni-Hunters have arrived at the all-girl school in Sydney, Australia. As the kids glanced around, Ben spots some girls snacking on some candy as he drools, making the girl of the team notices. "Please! You boys are so hopeless! You can't last 1 hour without candy, much less a whole weekend." "What are you saying? That we're weak or something?!" Ben glares out at his pride being insulted. As someone who fought aliens, monsters, mad scientist, warlords, ghosts, and evil magic, the superhero was insulted that he didn't have the willpower to resist something like sweets. "Oh yeah?! I can handle no candy for the weekend! I'll show you what me and Normie are made off, Madison!" "Yeah!" The blonde briefly yawns as he declares. "What my friend says."

The purple-haired girl smirks a devious grin as she responds. "Okay… if you boys managed to go the whole weekend without a single piece of candy, then I'll use my connections at home to ensure you boys that you won't do any science and math homework for 2 whole weeks! But If I win, you both will have to do everything I want and go to any movie, play any game or watch any show I pick." "Deal!" They all shake hands as the bet is on. "Hello! You must be the specialists that are called in." They turn to see an African American teenager girl approaching them. "I'm Liane, Carrie's roommate." "Hey there! I'm Ben Tennyson! And these are my buds, Normie and Maddie."

"I'm so glad you are here. We had 3 doctors examined Carrie, but she won't wake up!" Liane explains as they enter her and Carrie's room. They approached the girl as she cringes and sweats in fear, breathing sharply as she sleeps. "Looks like she's having a nightmare." Normie observes as Ben then opens her eyelid, only to back off in surprise. "Whoa! Talk about creepy! Her eyes are completely white!" "Maybe she got a virus?" "Newsflash, Maddie. This is like the cleanish room I've ever seen. No way germs can roam here." "Maybe I should just get a scan in, anyway." The girl responds to Ben as she took out the Disc and scans Carrie's eye as the device hovers above and flies out the window.

Normie then notices a bunch of sand in a corner of the room. "Hey! What's sand doing here?" They all glanced over as the blonde examines it. "Did you 2 got back from the beach?" "No! Really strange, especially since Carrie doesn't go anywhere near the beach. She's like, totally afraid of the water." Ben then spoke out. "Well, guess we're staying at the Hotel until the results are in." "Not a hotel, a mansion! We're staying at the president's mansion on campus while he's out of town! Talk about a sweet bonus!" "Awesome on the mansion, but don't say sweet, please." Ben groans out as Normie sweat drops with a sheepish smile.

The sunset has begun as the kids were getting comfy at the cozy mansion. Maddie is wearing a kid-size robe as she spoke to the boys as they were reading comics. "Well, I'm going to take a little nap. Feeling a bit tired." She yawns out. "Suit yourself. Me and Normie are going to read." The girl went to her bedroom and starts sleeping, but after some time, she grimaces as she tosses and turns, unaware of a strange figure emerging from the wall and crawling down onto the girl. But luckily, an alarm rang that woke the girl from her slumber as she rubs her eyes. "What a nightmare… Glad that is over."

But as the tween wakes up, she noticed the monster in a mirror on the stand, making her glanced back and screams in terror as she scrambles away, just before it can snatch her! The door was then slammed open by Raptor-Rang as he holds fire and ice boomerangs. "Maddie! What's going on?!" The beast sinks into the wall and disappears. "I was just attacked by a monster!" "A monster? Where?" The boys glanced around to see nothing. "Very funny… Trying to scare us into losing the bet." Normie states as both boys' frowns out as the girl cries out. "I'm serious! I was just attacked by a monster!" "Did thou say monster?"

The disc shows up out of the blue, freaking the others as they calm down. "Dude! Are you trying to scare us to death?!" Raptor-Rang hisses out with narrowed eyes and bared teeth. The knight hologram bows in response. "Apologizes. Did not mean to frighten you, lad. We have just got the results back. Carrie's eyes were not white. The pupils were moving so rapidly that it can't be seen with the naked eye." The knight displays the screen as the footage slows down to reveal the pupil moving up and down. "Hmm… But what does that have to do with Maddie's 'monster'. And why does Carrie not wake up?" Raptor-Rang ponders out as Normie looks at the Campus book. "Maybe someone can help us. Like a sleep expert. And I found one! Dr. Marcus Hanlon: Sleep researcher and psychology!"

The trio then heads over to where the doc's research lab is, all suited up, opening the door to find it dark, which they used their phones to provide light. Only to be surprised to instead, find the place a mess. "Whoa! Did the doc threw a wild party and didn't clean up?" "Doubt it… But it looks like something, or someone don't like his equipment." Maddie spoke out to Ben, only to find Christopher, now covered in sand as he twitches, making the group cry out in surprise, only to calm down as Ben check the man's eyes to find them white as well! "Great! Another victim!" "Yeah! His eyes are weird, and he's covered in sand! Like Carrie!" Maddie spoke to Ben as Normie examines the sand.

"Maybe the monster leaves this stuff behind like a trail? You know, like with slime, but not gooey." Ben then spots a crack on the lab window. "Hey, check this out!" They went up and spot the computer, all melted like. "It's Dr. Hanlon's computer, but the screen is all melted." Maddie observes as she got out and taps her computer up to the desktop. "Let's see what my suit has to say."

They saw Christopher's nightmare as Normie comments. "Whoa… Talk about living the nightmare." Just then, they heard a noise from a closet, making them armed as they slowly approach and open, only to find Dr. Hanlon himself as he yips in surprise in fear. "Get away!"

After calming him down, the professor explains what happened. "I have been here for days! Ever since that thing came from my computer monitor." "That's it!" Normie cries out as his eyes winded in realization. "That's the connection! The monster must have used the Doctor's computer as a gateway to our world! His program must have opened the portal between the real and dream world!" "So… the monster came from one of his patients' nightmares?" Maddie ponders out. "Yep! And now, it's terrorizing anyone who falls asleep." "Interesting theory, young man. But none of my patients had any nightmares involving monsters." "So… If the monster didn't come from a bad dream, where did it come from?" Ben asks while scratching his head.

Normie whips out the Legendex in response, typing in the keywords. "Sleep… Sand… Monster… Got it! The Legend of the Sandman! According to legend, the Sandman is a creature from the Nightmare Realm that attacks his victims in their sleep. With his magic sand, he can induce nightmares into his victims. Nightmare that never ends." "So, how do we stop it?" Ben ponders out as his best friend responds. "Simple! Lure the monster here! And I know who can help." Normie smirks out as he glances at Maddie.

And before the girl knew it, she is strapped to a bed, all hooked up to wires as she panics. "Why me?! I already took a nap!" "Once I push this button, it will only take a few seconds for you to doze off, Madison." "I don't know, doc… She had a lot of candy, recently." Normie smirks out as the girl frowns at him. But the doctor types in the program, making Maddie fall asleep.

In Maddie's dream, she had just woken up from her bed. "What a weird dream..." Just then, she heard knocking on the door as she opens it and spot several secret service men. "Hello?" "Ms. McLuna? We have been ordered by the president, your father, to keep you under 24/7 surveillance and lockdown. You are hereby confined to the White House and are forbidden from access to the outside world and your friends." "WHAT?!" Madison exclaims in shock at what she had heard!

"No! I need to talk to Daddy! My friends! My freedom!" She cries as she tries to push through the men, but they grabbed her as before her terrified eyes, they transformed into monster versions of themselves as one cackle out. "You are never leaving! HAHAHAHA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!" The 11-year-old female screams to the heavens at her worst nightmare: Having no freedom and never seeing her friends ever again!

As Maddie slept, Ben got ready for the monster. "Okay! Let me get my game face on!" Ben smirks out as he dials his watch towards Swampfire and slaps down. FLASH

Vines pop out of the watch and cover up the kid's body, making rocks appear at his feet, his body getting bigger as holes appear in his palms as the vines create his new head, making him grin as he poses.

"Yes!" Swampfire fist pumps in response as his friend makes his suit appear as he got the net launcher function ready on his wrist blaster. They then heard shifting sand as they look around, keeping guard. Just then, the Sandman starts crawling out of a wall as Normie spotted him. "THERE! Swampfire chucks a fireball at him, but the Sandman faded into the wall and dodged. The monster then appear by the floor as Normie fries the net, only for it to dodged as well. "Dang it!"

The Sandman appears above the girl and holds his hand out. "Oh no, you don't!" Swampfire blasted the monster away with a fireball, making it cry out in pain. "Got'em!" The beast snarls out as it tries to tackle them but was knocked away by a flaming uppercut. Swampfire then turns up the heat with a flamethrower that hurts the Sandman more and more, walking forward as he kept firing.

But the monster had enough as it quickly phases out and retreats, making Swampfire cry out. "Yeah! You better run!" Normie then frowns out. "How are we going to catch a monster that is made out of magic sand?!" Swampfire glances at the sand left behind and gets an idea. "We fight the Sandman on his own turf! We're going after him in the dream world." "Dude! Even I think that's nuts!" Swampfire spoke back as the doctor joins them "We got no choice, buddy! It's the only way to stop Sandman! Doc, think you can hook us up?"

The boys were then strapped in as Doctor Hanlon gives Ben a button on an orb. "What's this?" "It's a panic button. Push it and I'll know you want to wake up." "But will it work? I mean, once you sprinkle that sand on us, we'll be sent into Nightmare City!" Normie points out. "Not if you confront your fears, kids! Confrontation is the key to eliminating nightmares!" "Huh… Makes sense. I think?" Ben shrugs out. But nonetheless, the boys were ready as the machine sent them into dream world in flashes of light.

In Normie's dream, he is now the Football captain that manages to score the winning touchdown, making him grin out as the crowd cheers for him as Megan, now his girlfriend and in cheerleader outfit, came up and gave him big hug and kiss on the cheek as he grins out while holding his trophy up. "Who's number one? I'm number 1!" He felt like he's on top of the world! But just then, a growl made his eyes snap open as the blonde felt shivers down his spine.

He slowly looks back, only to cry out in shock as the audience changed into vicious, hungry, red-eyed Lions with large mouths full of drooling fangs. "LIONS?! Anything but Lions!" He cries out as the predators all surround him! Just then, he felt some fur on his arm and glances over at Megan as her head is down, only for it to suddenly turn into a female Lion as she roared in his face as Normie screams on the top of his lungs! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

With Ben, the boy steps on a patch of grass, only to notice the familiar house. "My old home?! I don't understand! I'm back in Bellwood?" He glances around in confusion, but as he approaches the house, it suddenly exploded as Ben is shocked. "MOM! DAD! GRANDPA! KATE!" He cries out in horror as emerging from the rubble is a massive shadow behemoth that has tendrils for a bread and glowing red eyes. "Hello… Ben." Ben steps back as he recognizes his archenemy. "Vilgax! You're going to pay for what you did!" Ben slaps down on the Omnitrix, only to his shock it broke into pieces! "No… It can't be!"

Suddenly, as the shadow Vilgax laughs out, multiple hands burst out of the ground like Zombies! Pulling themselves up to reveal all of Ben's old aliens, including Tentaclash and Feedback, but now all zombies! Ben glances around in terror as they kept moaning out. "Why did you abandon us?!" "You failed us!" "You failed everyone, Ben!" "You don't deserve to wield the Omnitrix!" "Azmuth made a big mistake!" "Your real family is all gone because of your recklessness!" "You let Malware killed us because you didn't listen!" "Why didn't you listen to your family? Then Malware would have never ripped us out!" "I'm sorry! I tried! I didn't mean to! I never wanted this to happened!" Ben cries out as he knees as he closes his eyes as he covers his ears, unable to take all the negative words or Vilgax's taunting laugh.

Ben then starts running away as fast as he can, as Normie and Madison did the same thing as well, only to crash into each other! "Guys!" Maddie cries out, relieved to see her friends. "Am I glad to see you here! Umm… Where is here, anyway?" The kids look around to see a reddish, foggy void of some kind as Ben responds. "I don't know." "But it sure is creepy. I think it's some sort of nightmare realm." Normie answers. As the girl grew more frantic. "Then what are we doing here?!" "I don't know?" "Ben! Turn into an alien, now!" Ben frowns out as he shows his bare wrist. "Lost my Omnitrix when we got here… And all I have here is…" He pulls out the panic button as his memory jogs in. "The panic button Dr. Hanlon gave me!"

"You mean the guy from the closet?" Maddie raises an eyebrow as Ben nods in response. "Then use it to get us out of here!" "No, Normie! We're not leaving until we faced our fears. And help them out as well!" Ben points at the man from the lab, Chris, who is looking down a massive skyscraper from the ledge as he is frozen in fear. "I'm so high up, I'll never get down!"

"Yes, you will!" Ben cries out as the kids were behind him. "Because this is all just a dream! Just step off, you will be okay!" "I can't! I can't! I'm so high up!" "You have too! It's all just a dream! Sometimes, to end your fears and nightmares, you must take a risk!" Madison cries out as Chris realizes he's got no choice. He took a deep breath and steps off, falling rabidly, only to slow to a calming speed as the collage man as he notices. "I did it! I beat my fear!"

They all then noticed Carrie, floating in a pond of water as she is paralyzed in terror of the liquid around her being. "Help me! I'm drowning!" "No, you're not! It's just a nightmare!" Ben points out. "But I can't swim! I'm scared of the water!" "Listen! We can help! Just grab my hand we'll get out of here." Carrie manages to reach up and grab Ben's hand, making the 11-year-old pull him up as the pond disappeared. "You did it!"

"Actually, you did." Maddie responds, only for lightning to crash in the area as the Sandman rises in front of the group with a really ticked off from the look in his eyes. "Guys! We got company! And not the friendly kind!" The Blonde of the group cries out. "How dare you try to control my world?! You will never escape! You are mine forever!" He fires off lightning bolts as the group ducks out of the way.

"Now's the time for the panic button, Ben!" "Right!" He cries back to the purple haired tween as the boy fishes into his pockets, only for the Sandman to conjure up a sandstorm around the group. Just as things could not get any worst, demonic lions, Vilgax and monstrous Secret Service Men emerges, approaching the group as Normie got a scared look. "We're in big trouble, times 3!" "Chris and Carrie conquered their fears! Now it's our turn! Follow me!" Ben cries out as he starts stomping towards the monsters as his friends followed after him.

The 2 sides kept walking towards each other as the kids felt fear slowly consuming there very being, but they kept going. "Keep going! There not real! There just illusions!" Ben cries out as they soon pass through the beings as they vanished, making them sigh out as the sand subdued. "We did it! We faced our fears!" "But it's not over yet." Ben frowns at the president's daughter in response as he glances at the Sandman.

The monster fires another blast of energy as the humans all dodged, making Ben fish the button out and pushed it, conjuring up a portal as Maddie smiles. "That must be the way out!" But just then, the portal got ripped into 2 as the Sandman pulls them apart, crying out. "You think you can escape? Well, you can't! Cause I can control everything in this world!" He then starts spraying sand on them, hoping to bury the humans alive. Normie notices the portal is still active, but getting smaller by the minute, making him cry out. "The portal's closing! We're running out of time!"

"Time?" Ben notices his Omnitrix is back as he realizes he got it back because he faced his fears, making him smirk out as he dials the watch. "The only time I believe in, is hero time!" FLASH "Surfs up, Sandman!" Water Hazard cries out as he fires streams of water that pushes the monster back, making him cry out in pain as parts of his body became mushy from the water.

"Quick! While he's down, through the portal!" Water Hazard cries out as the humans quickly ran for it. The Sandman tries stretching his arms to grab them but were sliced off by Water Hazard's water whips. "And for good measure!" He points upward and fires twin geysers and fuses them into a massive one, aiming at the Sandman as the huge stream blasts the monster even farther away and soggy up his body more. "BEN!" Hearing his name, Water Hazard dives through the portal.

Back in the real world, all the victims woke up, one-by-one. Maddie spots the Sandman's arm sticking out of the computer! "The Sandman is trying to escape!" "That's the idea!" Ben cries out as the trio rushed to the station as Normie spot the circuit breaker and flips a switch, shutting off the power and causing the monster to cry out in agony as the arm became stuck, not moving as it flails around. Both boys hi-fives as they smirked. "Nice one, Normie!" "Yep! With the Sandman caught between dreams and reality, he won't be making anymore nightmares for a long time."

The next morning arrives as Dr. Hanlon comforts his recovering patients as the Forever Knights are on clean up duty while taking Sandman in. Sir Cyrus spoke to the kids. "Well done, Squares. We are taking the Sandman into our custody, as we speak." He left as Ben smiles. "Well, I don't know about you, but I'm up for some chill time in Australia!" "Me too!" Ben smirks at Maddie. "Really? I thought you would be tired after our latest hunt?"

"You kidding?! After that epic nightmare, I'm not sleeping, anytime soon!" The girl declared as she fishes out some candy as Ben notice. "Hey! Where did those come from?" She gestures to Normie, carrying more candy from a machine. "Thanks to me, she got a fresh supply! Meaning that she cracked first, and we won the bet!" Maddie then starts cramming several candies in her mouth as the boys watch in stunned silence. "Yep! I say, let there be no Science and Math homework!"
