Chapter 22: The beginning and the end

A/N: last chapter! It is long! Thank you guys ! I have so many ideas for my next story! But let me know what you like to read. They always say if the story you want isn't there , then write it!

Bella hovered over the toilet as she continued to puke her guts out.

"Uggh. This isn't gonna get any better." She said as she finally collapsed on the bathroom floor.

Jacob flushed the toilet for her and handed her some tissue.

"You could have some faith in us Bella." He said in irritation.

Bella glared at him and said "oh trust me Jacob, I have plenty of faith that the wolves will win. You guys are powerful. That wasn't what I was talking about though."

"oh. Well what were you talking about?" he asked.

Bella shook her head.

"it doesn't matter. Im going to go to my room, I need to pray."

Jacob looked at her in surprise.

"didn't take you for the religious type bells."

"it's not a religion It's a relationship. Let me know if you need anything." Bella told him as she walked to her room.

Jacob watched her for a minute before he went back outside with Collin and brady. As much as she had changed, Jacob had to admit, Bella changed for the better.

Jasper was angry. Not he was livid. Why did his wife have to go make stupid decisions? He knew part of it was his fault.

He never put his foot down with her. Alice always, always got what she wanted. It didn't matter what it was. She got her way.

She was spoiled.

And it didn't make it any better that everyone depended on her gift. that was a lot of pressure to put on one person.

And when her visions didn't come to pass, it aggravated her.

However, that was no excuse to-

"Empath."

A dark voice called.

Jasper then became overwhelmed with this feeling of darkness and fear. He turned his head to see their representative.

Paul was his name. They were currently standing on a nearby building looking down at Victoria as she tried to get her army together.

"You need to focus, or it will get you killed. I though the major of the south would know better." Paul growled.

Jasper felt himself nod and tremble.

This wolf was different from all the rest. He had this tight control over himself and yet an aura of power flowed out of him.

It terrified jasper to no end. But the wolf was right, he needed to focus. Right now, everyone was gathered. The vampires on buildings and the wolves on the ground, standing in the shadows.

He had no idea how Victoria hadn't detected any of them. She was completely surrounded.

"Alright!" Victoria yelled at her troops. Their had to be at least 45 of them. "We have the element of surprise on our side! We are going to head south. We are to keep downwind. Were going to head through the water, to forks! when we get to the clearing, kill the enemy on sight and when you find the girl bring her to me."

With that said, the army headed south. Paul, however, stayed right where he was at. He then took out his phone and dialed a number.

"They will be to you in two minutes. Be ready blondie."

Jasper quirked an eyebrow but then realized something, Rosalie was missing.

"wait? How- what are you going to do with her?" Emmett asked angerly as he marched towards Paul.

Alec, however, blocked his way.

Paul shrugged.

"Your mate volunteered. Now shut up and assume formation. We move now."

Emmett looked like he wanted to argue but shut his mouth and stepped back.

Paul nodded and then began to jump from building to building. Everyone else followed. If he looked closely enough, he could see the wolves staying in the shadows.

They had come to the water. It was a shipping port.

"Mind reader, dr. Dracula, and the giant head to the boats. There coming." Paul ordered. Edward, Carlisle, and Emmett did as told and jumped form the building to one of the boats.

Jasper and Esme stayed behind Paul.

The sounds of angry hissing reached their ears.

"I can smell her! but where is she!" Victoria yelled. She and her army had reached the water but had suddenly been turned around by Bella's scent.

"its leading this way mistress" one of the newborns said, Victoria was in the lead as they all ran to the a narrow alley surrounded by shipping containers.

As soon as they stepped in that direction. Paul gave the order. The wolves came out of the shadows and attacked. Jasper and Esme jumped into the fray.

Body parts were flying and heads were literally rolling.

Some of the vampires fell down into pain or darkness as jane and Alec let out their gifts on them. It was then Rosalie, and a wolf came out and began to throw the body parts into trashcans that had been lit on fire.

A group of newborns began to run away trying to run into the water, but Emmett, Edward and Carlisle were ready for them.

Jasper ducked down as a newborn tried to come to him and from the corner of his eye, he saw Paul and Victoria circling each other. But hiding in a corner looking murderous was his wife.

She was going to blindside Paul.

"ALICE NO!"

Bella gasped as she felt a shutter in her body. something bad was going to happen.

"GOD NO! lord, please! Please! Help them! I know im not the best person and I haven't made the best choices! But I believe in you! I believe that you sent your son to die for me! Lord, I can stand to lose a lot of things. I could care less about the money and the cars and the things. But God please I cant lose Paul! Our baby needs him! And right now, Lord Paul needs you! please hear my prayer father god! In Jesus name!"

It was then Bella felt something stir in her and a still quiet voice whispered.

"Be still child, it is already done."

"you!" Victoria sneered at him "what are you!"

Paul smiled.

"Does it matter? Im just here to kill you. or bring you to the volturi. They could care less."

Victoria roared and launched herself at him.

Paul, however, ducked and evaded her attack. He liked to play games.

"Woah, too slow." He teased darkly. This only enraged her even more and she launched herself at him again.

Paul stood his ground as he took the force of her body crashing into his but was quick to grab her by her hair and break an arm off at the same time.

She screeched and got a good swipe out of neck and arm. Paul brushed it off and let het go.

"That all you got? All these months of preparation and this is all you got? I thought you were supposed to be this powerful vengeful vampire. Come on little girl. Show me what you got?"

"oh, ill show you alright!" she roared.

Paul smiled, because she was doing exactly what he wanted. She let him come at him and when she was close enough, he ducked. She didn't expect it and went flying through the air right off the shipping container. But Paul caught her by the hair.

"You know, long hair is not a good thing when your fighting in battle. You should have cut it." he told her as he ribbed her other arm off.

She screamed and Paul laughed.

"Alright im bored. It will be too much of a hassle to drag your corpse to Italy, so im going to ill you here. Say hello to your mate in hell."

And then he ripped her head off with a victorious smile. But it was short lived because Paul heard Jasper scream.

"ALICE NO!"

Paul saw her out the corner of his eye, but he couldn't turn fast enough.

Venom coated teeth were in his neck, but the pain was short lived as bright light flashed in front of him.

"Child of Satan release him!" a strong voice yelled and out of the light came a man with bronze wings and a sword in his hand.

The sword went down past Paul and striking Alice.

She completely disintegrated before them.

"ALICE!" Jasper screamed in pain.

Paul ignored him as he turned to the being before him. He couldn't believe it. this man, this person he was...

"you're an angel!" he said in disbelief.

"I am a servant of the highest, the angel Michael. child of God. Do not look at me in awe. I am nothing. Just a servant. The almighty sent me to help you. he has a message for you."

Paul swallowed hard and nodded.

"The Great I AM wants you to break your ties with the darkness. you never needed them and they don't need you."

Pauls' eyes widened and he wanted to question the message, but the angel Michael shook his head.

"The almighty's word is law. You must trust him."

Paul nodded as he looked down at the mass of newborns being burnt and ripped apart.

"What happens then? Couldn't he just wipe all the vampires out?"

The angel shook his head.

"The time has not come. Many things must happen before the end. But do not concern yourself with their demise. Take care of your affairs and be done with the darkness. Your new assignment will come to you when your ready. Show the demon Aro this message and you'll understand then."

Paul's eyebrows furrowed.

"His gift wont work on me anymore."

The angel smiled and said, "just be obedient and you'll see."

And then he was gone.

It was then Paul grabbed his neck in alarm. The seer had bitten him, he knew she did. But their was no bite mark. No venom.

Paul sank to his knees, as he put his head in his lap.

"Thank you father God. Thank you."

….

Jasper fell to his knees. She was gone. He couldn't feel her anymore.

She didn't exist. His mate was gone. Sorrow consumed him.

"Jasper…" Edward said softly as his family approached him.

All the newborns were discarded and burnt. It was over.

Jasper sat up and looked at Edward. Waves of remorse and grief running off him.

"she's gone."

"I can end it for you empath."

Jasper turned to see Paul and his pack approaching them.

Edward growled.

"You would just love that wouldn't you." Edward sneered.

Jasper ignored his brother as he looked at Paul.

"You would do that?"

Paul nodded silently.

To his surprise, he could feel Paul's empathy.

"Losing one's mate is …painful. It's the whole reason why Victoria went insane. And the whole reason why your family is being on trial. You can either go with them or end it here."

Jasper turned back to his coven.

"I ...I can't live without her."

His family widened their eyes.

"Jasper – "Esme began, but Carlisle stopped her.

"it's ok son. It's ok."

And then a wave of understanding and comfort filed him. If Jasper could cry, he would have.

"Kill me." he told Paul.

And this time, Jasper felt nothing as the wolf ripped off his head.

…..

"Sam. Take the pack home, guard the borders until I get back. And you all, it's time to go." Paul ordered as jane and Alec closed in on the Cullen's.

Edward growled.

Paul ignored him.

"Let's get this over with. Jane call Aro. Tell him we are on the way."

….

The next day found Paul and the Cullen's walking the halls of the volturi castle.

The throne room doors were opened, and Paul stepped in first. The words of the angel Michael echoing in his ears.

"Ah! Paul! Jane and Alec! I see the mission was a success. Oh, and Carlisle! How sad I am that we had to meet like this!" Aro practically cheered as he descended from his throne.

Paul cleared his throat to get the kings attention.

"ah Paul, yes?"

"I have a message for you. but first, everything is done. the newborns are gone. Victoria is gone and two of the Cullen's were killed. But I need you to see this first." Paul said as he stretched his hand out for the king to take.

Of course, Aro took it in excitement.

However, that excitement turned to horror. Aro mouth opened and closed as his body began to jerk. Paul looked on in confusion.

It was then Aro let go of Paul's hand and stumbled back. A look of pure fear on his face.

"Brother?" Caius called.

Aro swallowed hard.

"the angel Michael." Aro told his brother without looking at him.

Caius choked and Marcus actually gasped.

Without saying anything. Paul took off his black cloak and his mask and dropped it at Aro feet.

"I believe we will never be seeing each other again. I don't care what happens as long as all vampires stay out of the state of Washington, Puerto Rico, and Canada and if they do cross paths with us, they will die. Do we have an understanding?" Paul asked.

Aro nodded.

"Good, now get on with the trial of these guys. I would like to go home but I need reassure that they will be dealt with."

After an hour of hearing testimonies. It had been decided that the whole Cullen family would die. It was too much of a risk to let them go or even keep them in volturi. Carlisle had many allies. Not to mention that it would be a great example for the rest of the vampire world. The Cullen's had been killed because they broke the law.

As soon as they were ashes, Paul walked out.

He would never come back to Italy and neither would anyone in his blood line.

….

Bella played with her gown in anxiety. She was set to graduate in the next five minutes and her husband was nowhere to be found.

As soon as the battle was over, the pack came home but Paul was not with them.

They said he went to Italy. There had been no word from him since. She felt herself get teary eyed but wiped them away.

God had answered her prayer. Paul was alive and safe. She knew that for sure. She needed to be strong.

"Isabella Marie ..Lahote?" her principal called as he looked down at her diploma in confusion.

Bella proudly walked across the stage to take her diploma and when she turned to look out into the crowd, there he was.

Paul was in a sharp dark blue suit with shades, smiling brightly at her as he clapped. Joseph was in her fathers arms, as her father wiped away tears. To her surprise, her mother and Phil actually made it. The pack and along with her in laws whistled and cheered.

Bella blushed and walked back to her seat.

After Jessica's speech, they all threw their caps in the air. Except for Bella cause she didn't care. She needed to see her husband.

Bella pushed past some of her friends as she threw herself into Paul arms. Wrapping her legs around his waist.

"Babe! I prayed! I prayed so hard!" she said as she kissed him with passion.

Paul chuckled into her shoulder and said, "Well God heard you for sure!"

Bella laughed and then kissed him again.

"Im so proud of you." he told her.

"And im proud of you! im so glad this is over!"

"Bella your going to get pregnant if you keep jumping on him like that." Leah joked.

Bella laughed nervously and glanced at Paul shyly as her parents gave her hugs.

Paul arched an eyebrow as she continued to stare at him.

She broke eye contact for a minute as she hugged her in laws and extended family.

Sofia hopping into her arms, alongside joseph.

"Mommy!"

"Cousin Isabel!" they cheered.

Bella laughed as she gave them tight squeezes.

"Hi guys! Im so happy to see everyone." Bella greeted them with tears in her eyes.

"Does this mean you and Cousin Rudy can come home now?" Sofia asked.

Bella gave Rudy a sad glance as they looked at each other. They hadn't told anyone yet, but Rudy wouldn't be coming back to Canada with them. He wanted to stay in la push close to Angela plus he wanted to help lead the construction office in port angles. It would be an adjustment, but they would get through it.

"Whose hungry?" Bella asked as she avoided her cousins question.

Of course, that distracted everyone.

Bella had planned a big dinner for everyone, but she was shocked when her family drove her to the beach, where tiki lamps were lit, and a giant banner hung on them. A table had been set up with a giant tent in the middle that would fit everyone. Food was on the table and the bonfire was lit.

Congratulations Bella! It said.

Her mother and sue approached her and said, "you didn't think the family would let you slave over the kitchen on your graduation day, did you?"

Bella hugged them gratefully. Her family wasn't perfect, but she was grateful to have them.

Bella sat under a nearby tree as her whole family from all sides mingled happily. Everyone was laughing and talking.

Her heart melted as she watched Claire and Sofia help joseph make sandcastles.

It made her feel good. To see them all together. Paul embraced her from the shadows, making her jump.

"Paul, you scared me!" she giggled.

"Indeed, I did. Now, why are you over here by yourself. This is your party, you know."

Bella laughed.

"I like observing. Hey …can we sneak away for a minute…I need to talk to you."

"of course." He rumbled.

The walk form their to the beach wasn't long. Bella was quick to stride through her home. Grateful to be alone with him.

"hermosa.." Paul called in a sing song voice as he backed her against the kitchen counter

"what are you doing still …fully clothed.." his voice deepened as it filled with want.

Bella felt her body tingle as Paul reached for her shirt.

…

" talk to hermosa… you are content and yet nervous." Paul asked her as they lay wrapped up in sheets as the breeze from her balcony blew in.

"im just excited and nervous for all the changes. Rudy wants to stay here, Sam Is going to go to the College. The rest of the pack will be able to go back-to school. They actually want to do summer school so they can work for the company in the fall. Embry wants to propose to Leah come September you and I will be in Canada, and we will visit home at least twice a month. Everything is great ! And by next thanks giving well have another mouth to feed. It will be great!"

Bella stressed as she turned away from him.

Paul on the other hand froze. He stayed like that, before he rolled Bella back over.

" what did you say?" he asked very slowly Bella gave him a watery smile as she pushed his head to her stomach.

With a deep breath Bella let her shield down.

First it was her scent.

It smelled even better than before just more potent.

And then he could hear it

He could hear his child's heartbeat.

Paul looked up at Bella, his eyes filled with tears.

" Hermosa?" he questioned. He needed to hear her to say it.

"We are pregnant Paul.".

Paul let out a lupine whine.

He wasn't sad, not at all but he and his wolf were shaking. Not out of fear or anger but out of shock and excitement.

"Paul, there something else." Bella told him

He looked up. What more was their? it couldn't get better than this.

" were having puppies. As in… triplets…"

Paul's eyes bugged out of his head.

Andres was prancing ready to howl and he demanded Paul do it.

"We can't believe this!" he shouted excitedly.

It was then he jumped out of the bed, naked as the day he was born.

"Hang on hermosa, we got to do this."

Before Bella could question anything, Paul phased and ran to the balcony letting out a howl. This howl was completely different from the howl's he had done before.

This was a howl of joy, a song of hope and excitement. The wind carried it out to his pack.

The pack was wrestling each other and eating. Just having a great time.

The party was still in full swing, and no one was ready to leave. The older men had gathered themselves in a circle as they drank beer and told stories. Sebastian and Henri telling Bella's father, Phil, and the council more about Puerto Rico, while sue, Renee, and Ana sat together just chatting idly.

Everyone froze when the howl sounded in the air. The council and Charlie were immediately on guard.

"What happened?" sue asked in fear.

The pack didn't answer her, but they began to cheer out of nowhere, and then all of them cupped their hands to their mouths and let out a unified howl.

Sue turned to Renee praying she wasn't paying attention or figuring out the secret. And just like she expected Renee blinked and said, "how nice of them to be I touch with nature."

"Let's go guys. Well, be back." Sam suddenly said.

And then the group of boys and Leah were running into the woods.

…

Bella looked at Paul in confusion as he in his wolf form picked up a shirt and tossed it at her, along with a pair of shorts.

She put them on and then followed Paul out the front door.

Immediately, their pack was running out the woods all of them in wolf forms.

First, they circled around Paul, all of them bowing to him and then playfully nipping at him. He nipped back and a small game of chase began. Some of them leaping into the air like horses.

Thew whole pack then came upon her. all of them taking a moment to touch her belly with their nose or head. Paul sat next to her his head in her lap. Eventually they all sat in a circle. A moment of silence for what they had gained, what they could have lost and a bright hope for the future.

…

Charlie stared into the fire in concern.

"Do you think everything is ok?" Billy asked next to him. Charlie gave his friend a dirty look. He wasn't happy with Billy in the slightest. He was hurt actually. The way Billy tried to slander Paul's name. the way he called a meeting without him and sue.

It just wasn't like him.

Without saying anything he shrugged. He didn't want to start any drama tonight. It was his baby girls graduation day. This was a celebration.

Speaking of celebration, loud cheering came down the sandy dirt path leading to the beach. It was the pack.

In the middle of them was Paul and Bella. His son law was beaming with pride and excitement. while his daughter was looking red and embarrassed.

"Well, look who decided to join us! where have you two love birds been!? You do have guest you know. Jose, you know better." Sebastian scolded playfully.

Paul pulled out a chair for Bella as he beamed down at her.

"Hermosa, I'll be right back. I'll make you a plate and Uncle Sebastian nothing could ever compare to this day. Trust me. Sam! Embry! Protegerla!" her said with authority.

Sam and Embry just smiled as they sat down next to his daughter.

Charlie stood and watched Paul. Studying his every movement. He then glanced at Bella. She was glowing and looked a little sick.

Charlie then called his ex-wife. She walked over to him in confusion.

"Look at Paul. Look at his face."

Renee followed his eyes and watched Paul.

"Now watch Bella."

Renee studied her daughter before her eyes went wide and she grabbed unto Charlies arm.

"Charlie!" she groaned. Both parents knew exactly what was going on.

"Now none of that Renee. They are adults and their married." He said to her lowly.

Charlie studied his daughter. She looked exactly like Renee did when she was first pregnant. And then he looked at Paul again. he was smiling and excited but their was a shred of fear.

"Let them tell us when their ready renny." Charlie said using her old nickname.

Renee groaned and stepped back to sit with sue.

"Mommy!" Joseph shouted as he ran to Bella's lap.

Bella picked him up and cuddled the little boy to her chest.

"JoJo, I missed you." she gushed.

Jospeh threw his arms around her neck and laughed.

Paul came back with a plate overflowing with food.

"Paul, can we tell them now. Im sick if waiting. Its making me nauseas."

Her smiled brightly as he gathered everyone's attention.

"¡Familia! ¡estamos embarazadas! vamos a tener trillizos!" Paul suddenly shouted as loud as he could smiling like he saw the sun.

Paul's side of the Family stood and began to scream excitedly.

"Hey! Hey! Paul! English! Some of us don't speak Spanish!" sue scolded lightly.

Paul smiled as he crouched down to her.

"Sorry mama, are you ready to be a grandma to triplets?" Paul asked as he kissed her on the cheek.

If sue could pale she would have.

"Triplets! Triplets! Charlie! Triplets!" sue gushed.

Charlie laughed as sue hugged him.

"Looks like were having our grandbabies early."

Paul tapped his foot nervously as he waited for Embry and Sam.

It was past midnight and for once everything was calm. No one was on patrol. No vampires were around. For once everyone got to sleep in their own beds. However, with pack mentality. None of his pack went home, they all crashed in his living room.

It would be a little tight the farther they got into Bella's pregnancy.

"Hey bro, what's up?" Embry yawned.

"..I have to go see Joshua Uley…and…if you two want to come your more than welcome."

Sam sneered.

"Why would you want to see him? He's a piece of crap."

Paul shook his head.

"Im getting ready to be a father again. I cant raise four kids and have daddy issues. I need to see him and say my peace so I can raise my kids in the right manner. Sam."

Right now, it wasn't about wolves or alphas. It was just three brothers trying to figure out their lives.

Sam sighed.

"Yeah, your right…lets go."

When they arrived at the old house on the edge of the reservation. Joshua was waiting for them.

He stood, as he threw a cigarette on the ground.

"Well, didn't expect to see all three of my sons here… hmm… come on in boys. We have a lot to talk about."

Five years later: Epilogue

The pack and Bella stood excitedly as Sam made the touchdown!

"And there goes number forty-five! Samuel Uley Lahote! Kicker for the Kansas City chiefs! The chiefs win the game! The chiefs win the game!" the announcer shouted.

The pack and Bella cheered from their box seats, as Sam and his team celebrated.

The Kansas City chiefs just won the Superbowl. So much had changed in the five years after the war.

A month, after she announced her pregnancy, the volturi had sent them a letter. It turns out the Cullen's had left their whole estate to her. All of their back accounts, all of their houses and every last thing they owned.

They had considered her family. Now Bella and Paul were not stupid. They washed and donated all the name brand clothes. They gutted the Cullen's house in forks and rebuilt it to fit their needs.

The triangle house became known as the pack house. Anyone in the pack could use it. it was their headquarters. All meetings and gatherings were held there.

The money they had been given had been divided up. Some of it went into a savings account for future generations. Some of it went to the pack and the tribe, and some of it went to expand Paul's business. It was more than enough to help send every last pack member to college if they wished. All of the Cullen's houses had been rebuilt and used for when the pack wanted to vacation.

And like he promised, Paul dragged Sam off the reservation and enrolled him in college. It was there, Sam played football and actually got picked up by the NFL. He also met the love of his life, Layla.

Embry and Leah got married a few years after they graduated college. Like she promised, Leah continued to be Paul's secretary but also began to model. Her face was currently plastered in New York and Milan. Embry liked being near his big brother and continued to work construction. Both Sam and Embry decided to take the Lahote name. their brother had been a big influence on their life, and they wanted to keep it in the family.

Another person Paul had to drag off the reservation was Jared. He wanted to be a lawyer but was too afraid. Paul kicked him into shape really quick. Jared opened his own practice in forks and la push.

Quill went to acting school and became a movie star. But he wanted to stick to his roots and began to advocate for native American actors in film and tv.

The last person who fought the hardest was Jacob. He was supposed be tribal chief and the future leader of the pack but…Paul crushed those dreams. Those were Jacob's fathers dream for him. What did Jacob want to do?

To their surprise, Jacob became a physical therapist. He wanted to help people rehab and get their physical bodies together. He also opened a community center for kids who had parents with disabilities.

Colin and brady went back to school and were preparing themselves for college. They just wanted to take it one day at a time. The goofy duo even moved in with Paul and Bella. They viewed the two as parents and just wanted to be with them.

Rudy of course, followed Angela to college and got his degree in business. Could you guess who the vice president of Paul's company was?

And Bella? Well, she and Kim went into business together and opened their own restaurant. It was so successful they had ten locations.

Once a month, the pack got together and phased. They would have a stray nomad every now and then but most of the time it was silent. Paul continued to be alpha and active chief of the tribe. The elders had given him his tribal papers and their whole family including Bella and joseph were written in the book. To everyone's surprise, Joshua Uley became Paul, Sam, and Embry's biggest advocate.

Bella sat back in her chair and looked at her family. It was a big decision to leave Canada and live in forks and lapush full time but with four kids and two teenagers to take care, they needed all the help they could get, and she refused to hire a nanny. Her family, her community they had all stepped in. she was so grateful for them. Paul's aunt and uncles came to visit every two months just to help out.

And even now, as she laid her hand on her very pregnant belly. This time it was twins, but she couldn't complain.

Her life was blessed. Her family was able to live their lives free. She was free.

Bella bowed her head in gratitude.

"Thank you, lord." She whispered.

Paul leaned down and kissed her cheek.

"Happy anniversary." He whispered as he handed her a gift.

"Oh Jose, I thought we agreed no gifts."

Paul rolled his eyes.

"just take it."

Bella pouted.

"Oh fine, …alpha." She teased.

Paul licked his lips and said "im not afraid to bend you over my knee."

Bella purred and opened her gift.

She gasped as she pulled out a gold necklace. On the necklace was the initial of every pack member, her parents, and her kids.

"You are loved and cherished hermosa…never forget that."
