Shadows of Knowledge
Summary: Kaiba has failed another year of high school due to how much school he's missed. Yugi and Ryou are in the same boat. The board of Kaiba Corp and his investors aren't happy. Instead of staying at Domino High School for another year SetoKaiba sets up his own school with plans to learn more about the Shadows.
Chapter Seven
It was the first day of school and the boat had just arrived on the Island with all the students and a couple of the teachers. Thirty students in total. Once full construction was completed the school would be open up to more students. Split up into three dorms of varying sizes. The Obelisk Blue being the best of the best when it came to duelling. Ra Yellow the decent duellists whom most people attending the school would eventually be sorted too and Slifer Red the students who didn't know anything about duelling but were willing to learn.
"Why do I have to be in Ra Yellow, I'm one of the best duellists in the world?" The Joey complained. "And how come Bakura is in Obelisk and Marik is in Ra when Marik beat Ryou during Battle City?"
"Because Wheeler you can't even beat Gardner in a duel and she's not even a duellist. As for Marik he wanted to be in Ra." He replied to Joey, stirring the other teen up slightly. How Tea could still beat Joey, he didn't understand. Joey was meant to be a world levelled duellist. Tea couldn't duel most people and yet she still beat Joey every time.
Seto was the one giving the tour of the island. They finally ended up at the dorms that would eventually serve as the Obelisk Blue boys dorm. This year all the students would be staying in the mansion. Said building was the oldest building on the Island. It had served as a holiday home for a rich couple for many years.
"The bottom floor is the Ra red dorms. Percy Weasly and Dorothy Tome are the heads of your house. Your names are on the doors to your rooms. Girls on the right boys on the left. Drop your bags off Slifers excluding Amane and when you get back we'll continue with the tour."
The small group made their way to their room. Luna terrifying the girl she was walking with by telling her about fantasy creatures and the positive energy the building had. It didn't take long for everyone to return.
"The head for the Ra students are Remus Lupin and Mai Valentine." The group went up the stairs where the next level where the Ra students dropped off bags excluding Mokuba. Like the Slifer students girls had rooms on the right and boys on the left.
They went to the third floor which had the least rooms. Amane, Rebecca and Ishizu has rooms, bathroom and shared lounge room. The Obelisk students only had a house mother Ishizu and didn't have a house father for this year only. They also had the least students since there was four Obelisk students in total. His room and Mokuba's where connected as where Ryous and Amanes. The boys also had a shared bathroom and lounge room.
"As you all have noticed this floor has extra security to the rest of the floors. Most would assume that it's for myself or my brother who will also be staying on this floor ... It's not. Miss Bakura is a special needs student, hence the reason she is staying in the Obelisk quarters instead of the Slifer quarters. If you see her without an Obelisk Blue student or a teacher at any time please alert a teacher immediately."
This got the attention of the few students who didn't know Amane. She was hiding behind Ryou not liking all the extra attention.
Once all the students had placed bags into dorms, Seto continued the tour of the rest of the school.

When it came to normal subjects the students were split apart by age group. The twelve to thirteen year olds where in one group. The fourteen to sixteen year olds in another group and the seventeen year olds and eighteen year olds in the last group. Amane was the only exception this year, attending classes with the youngest group. Mokuba, Serenity and Rebecca would look after her. Like he'd already guessed, Amane got along really well with Serenity and surprisingly with Mai as well. Between Mai and Ishizu helping with Amane they didn't need to hire a carer for her. Mai was all too happy to help. The lady who'd been watching over her while at the mansion didn't want to leave for the school long term. Considering her family was all in Domino he could understand. The good thing was she was available to watch Amane short term if anything came up.
Normal magic classes where taught by Remus and Percy and wasn't split up by age group. While they were teaching modern magic the Shadow mages where being taught by Ishizu and Set. The remaining students had club activities with Mai. He pretty much gave her free reign those two hours a day.
Duelling classes where taught depending on house. Learning duel history, strategies, about the different cards and actually playing the game. Ishizu teaching the Slifer students, Mai teaching the Ra students. The Obelisk students all took turns teaching the subject, for this year anyway. Percy Weasley was assigned to supervise them during that class to ensure they'd actually keep on track and behaved. Every Friday all three houses would duel together.

They finished the tour back were they started, in the dorm rooms.
Seto explained the out of bound area's to the students, the penalties for miss behaving. "Bad behaviour won't be tolerated. It is a privilege for you to be here, not a right. If the teachers don't find your behaviour to be acceptable, I will sent you home. Don't just think that since the school teaches how to play Duel Monsters professionally, that you can slack off on your normal subjects. All the students are expected to do their best both academically and at playing duel monsters. If you are having trouble keeping up, please talk to one of the teachers. They are here to help. If they can't help you themselves, they will arrange someone to tutor you. On the bulletin board in the dorm room, there is a sign up for private tutoring as well as study groups."
"Do any of you have any questions, regarding the school?" Seto asked.
Thankfully the students asked him questions about the school, and how the school duels would work and not his personal life.
"If there are no more questions, I will be handing out the duel disc used by the school. The duel disc has a different look to the commercially available duel disc. While duelling at school, the duel disc will send information back to the local school server. You can use them off the island, but will work best here. These duel discs cannot be used in tournament duels and are for school and practice use only."
He went into further information about how the duel disc worked. Technical orientated students such as Rebecca Hawkins had many questions about how the duel disc worked. He wouldn't be surprised if she pulled her duel disc apart as soon as she was back in her room.
"To end this tour, Yugi Moto and myself will be demonstrating the schools duel disc system. Let's go outside were we will have more room."
This had cheering from majority of the students. The likes of Draco and Neville didn't know what was going on. The students where all rattling off questions all at the same time.
"Will Yugi be using the God Cards?" one student yelled over the rest.
"Yeah, will he?" A few more asked.
"Not today, this is just a demonstration. Maybe during one of the school duels you will see the God Cards." Yugi told them. Seto didn't think Yugi actually had any plans to use the god cards. He normally kept them in his box, refusing to use them in majority of his duels. Seto was the only one who'd been in a duel with the God cards more than three times.
This would be his first proper duel since his cards had been destroyed. His first duel with Set in his head. It was probably one of his first duels where he'd only be duelling Yugi. All of his previous duels had been against Yami. Atem and Set were both standing together at the sidelines with Mokuba, Joey, Ryou and Amane. He believe it was also the first proper duel Draco, Luna and Neville would see. It would be interesting to see how Yugi duelled in comparison to Atem.
Yugi truly was the king of games in his own right. Even without Atem playing in his place, he still won.
None of his fans amongst the students even noticed that he'd only played one of his dragons instead of three like he normally did. He changed strategies on a regular basis, so they'd probably assume that was the reason for the array of different cards.
The students cheered when the duel was over. Neville and Draco where both stunned. Luna was clapping politely. They'd even managed to grab the attention of the teachers. Percy Weasley looked impressed.
"You have the rest of the afternoon to settle in. Classes start tomorrow. All information is on the bulletin board."
With that, he left the other students, making way to his new home for the next year. He may be attending boarding school, but that didn't mean he got out of his work for Kaiba Corporation.
